| | Divination Lesson: Spring Flowers
The castle had been a weird place most of the term. It felt like things were never ending and it had taken a toll on many. From forgetting things to being see through it looked like the students and staff of Hogwarts would just start living with the ghosts for good, but school must go on and a small blonde divination professor was doing her best to keep the class as fun and light as possible.
As you made your way into the Divination Tower the first thing you would see is vases filled with some different flowers. There wasn't as many of a variety as Cassie would have liked and the number of flowers in the room was way less. When she envisioned this lesson last summer she could have never guessed that the outside would not be a place to get flowers and she'd have to just use what she liked to keep in her office area and a little from what was saved from the greenhouse. Without magic she couldn't duplicate them until the room was full either, but these five vases would do for class. The classroom is set up as it had been for all her classes, the smaller round tables all around the room with four seats to a table. The room is bright and cheery and the gentle smell of lavender may hit your nose once in awhile. Cassie is standing near the flowers as she waits for students to enter. | YesJess! | Captain Goggles | Mama Badger | Eva's Soul Sister | An OG™ | It's all in the Numbers Okay soooo time to inspect her four flowers then, was it?? Carsyn glanced at her first question as she tentatively picked up her first flower. Will we be able to get home safely? Glancing at the flower, she looked at the lines... she needed to count the lines and it was evident that were five lines coming from the center branch. Hope found in fear. Well, she could have told you that one. Especially cause people like Hero were trying to optimistic and hold onto hope but there was also the small bit of fear no matter how optimistic you were. Which meant what exactly?? Hold onto hope despite the fear that they might not make it out of Hogwarts? She chewed thoughtfully on her lip, setting that flower down because honestly she didn't like thinking about it and didn't know why she even asked the question.
Moving on, will she make it as a professional seeker? Inspecting the next flower there were four lines on the petals which meant ... hope. No fear. Just flat out confidence that she was a skilled seeker and well possibly?? This hope was going to be the death of her.
Moving onto the third question about being a famous baker. The third flower had lines bent to the left.... at least six, but there was no interpretation for six and she didn't see anymore than six sooo she would just use the lines bent to the left. Trouble ahead??? Sooo it was going to be a winding path but there a possibility that she could make it, right??? It was a loose interpretation and definitely vague, but somehow Carsyn still wanted to hold onto hope that even though she couldn't bake NOW, she'd be okay in her baking at some point. Right?? She would, yes??
Exhaling sharply, she looked at the one flower remaining. About her love life and boyfriend matters. She wasn't really about commitment and yet there was maybe a small part of her that compelled her to ask the question, which here lied the flower that could determine it. Perhaps she should do the he loves me, he love not with the petals? But that wasn't the interpretation they were doing. Eight streaks. Fickleness in those around her? What did that mean? She had to change around her in order to find affection? She had to change herself?
She stared at her interpretations... the flowers ... resting her chin on her fist, contemplating all this... wondering how accurate this really was? What if she had changed the order of the questions? So did that mean that this wasn't an accurate divination method?

Caledon Roth The Leaky Cauldron | Question for Professor! Rhibear ~ Madam Solo ~ Dark Brooding Girl ~ Accio Jedi ~ Gryffinclaw ~ Just a doll Heath had just finished recording his findings when Professor Kenobi spoke again. He blinked, slightly surprised to hear that the next activity wasn’t some other form of flower divination, but as long as it wasn’t that “He/she loves me, he/she loves me not” thing, he didn’t really care what they did. He looked at the flowers on the table in front of him, trying to envision a picture they could make, but nothing came to mind. Somehow he thought he would probably fail miserably at this! He was really not good at art, well not at visual art anyway… not like Ariel, not like Claudine.
Heath studied the flowers in front of him. He had two with large petals and two with smaller ones, two white ones and two sort of bluish ones. So what could he make with those colors? He saw one of the blue petals lying on top of a white one, almost like two horizontal stripes. Wait, blue and white stripes… Maybe it was because he was still thinking of his dad, but that reminded him of the promo art for his favorite musical. It was one of the first shows he saw with his dad, but now because of whatever was happening… He may never get to see another show with his dad again. He may never get to play his dream role on the West End. Heath took a deep breath, trying to calm himself before everyone else at the table could see through his unaffected act. Now seemed like a good time to get up and get some glue.
As he returned to his seat, he set to work. He broke the stems into equal lengths and glued them to the parchment, leaving about an inch or so of space between each stem. The stems would serve as a guide to keep the stripes straight. When that was finished, he filled in the space between each stem with petals, alternating rows of blue and white. He eventually ran out of petals and took a quick moment to check his work. It was technically more of a pattern than an actual picture, and it didn’t look much like the art that inspired it.. Still, he supposed it wasn’t too bad for something made using only flower parts. Speaking of which…
Heath looked down to see the leaves and center parts of his flowers scattered on the table in front of him. Did he have to use those parts too? He had no idea how to make them fit into his design! Unsure of what to do, he raised his hand and asked, “Professor, do we have to use every part of our flowers in our picture?”

| ~ Mrs. Steve Harrington ~ It be like that sometimes. Hearing Heathen’s question, Claudine peeked over at his work. For a moment, she had quite forgotten that there were others at the desk with her. She didn’t think they had to use every part of the flowers but was distracted by the boy’s work, anyway. “That’s very eye catching,’’ she complimented before turning back to her own project. Now that her sketch was done, the third year began to pluck the petals, stems and leaves apart. A small chuckle escaped her as she began to stick petals to President’s tail: it was amusing to think of the kneazle made out of parts of a flower, even if it was just in a form of art work.
Claudine continued her work, using up every last bit of her flowers and everything else. The result was both weird and attractive in her opinion. Even President’s face which comprised mainly of pieces of stems. His body was was put together with pieces of leaves, his legs and peets of petals. If she ever remembered, she’d need to show the kneazle this amazing picture. |

| Unforgivably Cursed | adultescent Okay, so he had to think up four questions to do this flowermancy thing. And Morgan had plenty of questions on his mind, so that was the easy part. Some of the questions he had were probably ones on everyone's mind.
1. Will we all really disappear forever?
2. Will I ever go home again?
3. Did Mum and Dad get me a kitten for Christmas? Or even a kneazle??
4. Will I be the tallest one in the family one day?
The first flower Morgan chose was a rose. Pulling off one of the outer petals, he took a careful look at it and compared his observations to the board. A changing heart? What the heck did that mean? Maybe it meant that they wouldn't really disappear as he'd thought, which would be a welcome change.
The next flower he chose was some sort of lily and again he pulled off a petal to examine it. This petal had four lines which meant... a sign of hope?! That was good news, so maybe they would get to go home soon and wouldn't disappear forever! Feeling a little hopeful now, Morgan picked another flower - a daisy. He pulled off a petal and took a look. It had a lot of little lines. He counted eight, which meant fickleness? He had no idea what that meant in terms of getting a cat or not. Maybe his parents had a hard time deciding if they should get a regular cat or a kneazle for him.
Last one and then moving on to arts and crafts. The last flower he chose was a poppy and its petal apparently meant hope founded in fear...? What did that even mean? Divination was hard.

This is just a fun little stress relief I felt maybe we all could use. Art can be very good for the soul." They all needed to get their minds off of the vanishing and what better way than doing some art projects and just having some fun.
Looking at the time though she felt they only had a few more minutes. Moving back to the front of the room she watched as some were still doing readings while others were really jumping into the art side. She loved how creative they were all being.
Snapping a little to get their attention and happy they were able to hear her snaps. "Students it is time to start cleaning up. you can take your flowers and projects with you. I'm so glad you joined me today."

Isla was finished with her first activity, so she set to work on the little art project. Ya know, not having magic was a pain, but some of the classes had been fun when they were allowed to do little projects. The second year arranged her petals in front of her and looked down at all the different and unique designs each one made. She'd never thought about petal designs before, but now she couldn't help but notice them.
Some of her outcomes hadn't really been pleasant...like that fourth detention she'd learned she would have. So Isla decided to make a smiley face out of her materials. She put her two favorite petals on the top and used them as eyes. Then she took a small piece of stem and made a straight line for a nose. Finally, she situated the remaining petals in the form of a smiley face. THERE. She'd made a positive outcome out of some negative predictions!
About that time, the professor started wrapping up the lesson. Isla cleaned up her work area, gathered all her things and turned toward the professor. "Thanks, Professor!" she said, even though she couldn't remember the lady's name. She did remember to snap a few times for her, though!

Between that and his thoughts of the dad he'd probably never see again, he was so distracted that he barely registered Claudine's compliment. "What?" he said, blinking in surprise. He didn't think his picture was anything special, but if Claudine thought it was eye catching, it must be true. She was a much better artist than him, so she would know! "Oh, thank you."
It was only then that he noticed her picture, and he smiled at the sight of the flower kneazle. That was the first time this lesson that anything got a genuine smile from him! "I like yours too," he said. "That kneazle is adorable!" That picture gave him an idea! He should introduce Claudine to Rey (his cat) sometime… if he ever remembered to! Maybe she could sketch her too, provided Rey would ever hold still.
So they didn't have to use every part of the flowers. That was good to know,* as Heath was at a loss for a use for green leaves in a blue and white striped pattern! He nodded in reply to Professor Kenobi, remembering only after the fact that she probably couldn't see. He was going to ask the others at his table if they wanted to use his leaves or his glue, but time ran out before he had the chance. He quickly packed up his things and returned the glue to the cabinet where he found it..* or at least he thought it was that cabinet. He couldn't recall exactly which one it was! "Bye, Professor," he said on his way out the door.

It seemed that Naya had finished her project just in time. The professor had announced that it was time to clean up. Naya gathered all of her leftover flower parts that needed to be disposed of and tidied up her work area. She returned the glue and then proceeded to get her things together. Once her bag was packed, Naya took her work of art and carried it carefully, as she headed for the door. “Goodbye Professor“, she said on the way out of the classroom. “I really enjoyed the class today.” She would have to find a place in her dorm room to display her picture. For now though, she was headed to the Gryffindor Common Room. Hopefully she could remember where she was supposed to be going for more than five minutes.
