The castle had been a weird place most of the term. It felt like things were never ending and it had taken a toll on many. From forgetting things to being see through it looked like the students and staff of Hogwarts would just start living with the ghosts for good, but school must go on and a small blonde divination professor was doing her best to keep the class as fun and light as possible.
As you made your way into the Divination Tower the first thing you would see is vases filled with some different flowers. There wasn't as many of a variety as Cassie would have liked and the number of flowers in the room was way less. When she envisioned this lesson last summer she could have never guessed that the outside would not be a place to get flowers and she'd have to just use what she liked to keep in her office area and a little from what was saved from the greenhouse. Without magic she couldn't duplicate them until the room was full either, but these five vases would do for class. The classroom is set up as it had been for all her classes, the smaller round tables all around the room with four seats to a table. The room is bright and cheery and the gentle smell of lavender may hit your nose once in awhile. Cassie is standing near the flowers as she waits for students to enter.
~ Mrs. Steve Harrington ~ It be like that sometimes.
It was almost like she and everyone else were gone. Not literally but everyone in the Castle knew what she meant. At least the inanimate objects were still there; like those vases of flowers. Claudine found them very, very pretty. As far as she could remember, the classroom setting remained the same. “Good day, Professor,’’ she said quietly, squinting somewhat as she gazed around the room. Since the occupants were all having the transparency issue, the Snakette couldn’t quite decide how many people were in the room right now.
Claudine went to her usual table at the back of the rest to prepare for the lesson. At the same time, she was trying to figure out how flowers would tie into today’s lesson.

Naya had taken to writing her class schedule down. That way, if she forgot where she was supposed to be, she just had to consult her notes. This had been extremely helpful and had saved her from showing up at the wrong place at the wrong time. So now, it was time for Divination. That was pretty appropriate since translucent Naya could probably blend in with the castle spirits.
Entering the classroom, Naya noticed that she was one of the first to arrive. “Hello Professor”, she said before heading for an empty table. She sat down and began to gather everything she needed for class. Once she had done that, she had time to notice the beautiful flowers in the room. At least they helped give off a positive vibe. They certainly could use some positivity these days.

Isla had gotten way turned around on her way to class (as in...she had ended up roaming around on the third floor for about a good ten minutes), but she was finally making her way into the classroom and on time at that. "Hello, Professor," she said. She'd taken to just saying 'Professor' when she could, because no matter how hard she tried, she always managed to get names just a little bit incorrect.
She eyed the vases filled with flowers. Hmm...pretty! "Hey, Naya," she said, taking one of the seats by the older Gryffindor girl. Could they even do Divination without their magic? Probably so, but seeing as Isla wasn't the biggest fan of Divination, she could still hold out on the hope that they couldn't. At least the flowers made things seem like they'd be interesting.

Kitt spent the entire walk over to the divination tower looking down at his hands. It may have been all in his head, but the boy could swear he was just a little lighter than he'd been before--a terrifying thought when you considered that they were already so hard to see. He didn't wanna fully disappear. He wanted to go home to his parents and his siblings and solid people. He wanted to be solid again. There was no magic here, he may as well be home.
"Hello, Professor." Kitt offered, brows furrowed in concentration. He wasn't paying much attention when he fell into the seat at the table with Claudine. The Third Year was much too preoccupied with the current situation~
The Gryffindor spared barely a glance toward the flowers--or his table mates--before turning to the woman...the nearly invisible woman.
"Professor? Are we dying?" There was mild panic in his eyes and the sudden feeling that he wanted his mother.

Time for the besssssst class Aboli sang to herself entirely in her head as she bum wiggled into the room. The Slytherin thought the constant threat of disappearing forever was only forgotten when she forgot anything else AND when she was in a lesson -
Speaking of, why was she here again? Glancing down at the paper in her hand, she read the timeslot of her schedule and nodded. Right. Divination. Cool. TIME FOR THE BEST CLAAAAASS.
"Good day, Professor K!" The lavender had her feeling calm already.

Heath had resigned himself to the fact that he was never going to go back home to his family or become a famous actor or any of the other things he wanted to do with his life. He never let on just how much that frightened him, but the longer this went on, the harder it was to keep bottling everything up. Mostly he tried not to think about it, but every so often, something would remind him… like the flowers he saw the moment he walked into the divination classroom. They were just like the ones in his granny’s garden.
He tried to block out the thought as he greeted Professor… whatever her name was. For once, he was glad he towered over her! The height difference made it easier to hide the emotion in his eyes, though could she have seen anyway? The whole transparency thing made it kind of hard to see anybody! “Hello, Professor,” he said quietly, managing the tiniest smile for her. It wasn’t her fault that the flowers dredged up unpleasant thoughts!
Heath’s eyes scanned the tables in search of a place to sit. He didn’t really feel like sitting with a bunch of random people he barely knew, but being alone was clearly not an option with this setup. Spotting a familiar face, he beelined for Claudine’s table. “Hi,” he whispered, taking the open seat beside her.
It was only then that he noticed the other boy at the table (Kitt). Who was he? Heath couldn’t recall his name or if they’d ever interacted at all! He nodded politely in greeting but said nothing to the other boy. It wasn’t personal; he was just shy around people he didn’t know!

Bernie poked her head and then the rest of her body into the Divination room... and then it started.
"AAAAAAAACHOOOOOOOOOOO!"
Oh no. OH NO. The third year hastily wiped her nose on her sleeve, hopefully before anyone could see the massive trail of snot swinging from her nose at the moment. What the heck? Had Snaps-A-Lot forgot to dust in here? "AACCCHOOOOOOO!" she sneezed again, her eyes also watering a little as she came into the room further and looked around for the source of her sneezes.
Oh no, flowers. Bernie's eyes and throat were itching already. Why did it have to be flowers? "It's allergy season," she sniffle-whined to the professor, draaaaaaaaaagging herself over to plop down beside her Slytherin friend, Bologney."Professor, can we put the flowers further away from me?"
Just saying. This was going to be a tough class if, "ACHOOOOOOO!" this was all Bernie would be able to do.

"HellooOOoo ProfessoooOrrRr!" Morgan donned his best spooky voice as he greeted the Divination professor once he stepped into the classroom. Sure, he didn't LIKE being ghost-like but there seemed to be no way around that now and might as well make the best of it, right? He sort of wished that he could also float and walk through walls if he was going to be stuck like this, but he'd make his fun where he could.
And as they were sitting at tables of four, he headed right over to the empty seat he spotted at the table of fellow third years - Claudine, Heath, and Kitt. "'Sup guys?" he greeted them as he sat down, not bothering to get out his class supplies. Wait... did he bring those today?

Divination was actually kind of cool these days because it wasn't a subject that required the wand so it actually felt as if Carsyn was focusing more. Maybe.
What was up with the flowers though? And her mentee was SNEEZING up a storm? "Bernie... are you... wait, i have something that might help." Assuming they were still in her bag, at least. Although she didn't know if they would help if one was in the middle of an allergy attack as she generally used them for preventative.
Setting her bag on the table she rummaged through it and at the very bottom she found it. A bottle of zinc and a bottle of vitamin C. "These are supposed to be good for warding off sickness?" She handed the younger lion the bottles. "One each. Maybe two"

"Oh no dear, I would never let that happen to you." Her own fears aside she would protect all the students and knew the other professors would too, plus having her own children here pushed her even more.

"Alright, we should go ahead and get started. I hope you have each found your seat without any issues. If anyone sat on someone just say hello and move to the next empty seat." It was interesting not being able to see each other, but they had been doing it awhile so it was getting a little easier. As she walked towards her desk she watched the tables and the students.
"This lesson is going to be a little smaller than I would have liked since we don't have access to many flowers, but what I do have is what's in front of us." She pointed to the roses, daisies, and lilies. "Flowers are a wonderful thing, they can brighten up a room, can be given as a gift, or they can be a fun past time in a garden. Though we aren't here to talk about the many uses of flowers, well not fully talk about that. We will be using flowers for our lesson today." She tried to make eye contact with all the students, "Can anyone tell me what form of divination uses flowers?"
Oh, how we drift away from our friends. And the ones back home play remember when
Fiona was finding it very hard to concentrate and not being able to see things properly wasn't helping matters one iota. Having barely heard Professor Kitridge's question, Fiona slowly raised her hand. "Er....is it called Floromancy?"
Fiona's mind was weird. She would remember some things but would have no recollection of other things such as where she placed her socks or what she had for breakfast.

Between the boy's (Heath's) silence and the professor walking over to offer him words of comfort, Kitt actually didn't notice the Ravenclaw boy join the table. It was so hard to see anyone anymore and Kitt was kinda in the middle of a "the world is ending, this is it, save our souls" moment so a lot had gotten by him.
The Third Year nodded up at the professor. "Okay." His voice was small but he was willing himself to believe her. If she said they weren't dying...well he still thought they were BUT he'd allow himself to be comforted.
The appearance....heh, appearance, of his dormmate did help to lift his mood a bit. "Hey, MF." He offered the boy a small smile, one he didn't suppose he'd be able to see but it was there.
Then it seemed the lesson begun. No sooner had the question been asked, that Fiona girl had answered it. Satisfied, Kitt simply scribbled the answer onto his own parchment and waited for them to move on again.
'Least now he knew what the flowers that were trying to do Bernie in sooner than the castle were for.

Blake found it interestnig that it seems like so many lessons over lapped each other ... exercises in both transfiguration and muggle studies .. flowers in divination and herbology ... the weird weather and having little to no access to the entire castle made things this term rather interesting.......
As for the question at hand however ..... "Floro .... ummm...... Floromatic ... No wait that sounds like a vacuum cleaner ....... Floromancy I think" Blake blushed a little that he mispronounced it the irst time, but he made it in the end.

Claudine’s own attention was elsewhere as she focused on retrieving her books for today’s lesson so she at first did not notice the Lazarus PitPittsburgh take a seat at her table. Not until he asked if they were dying, that is. “Dying’s not the same as vanishing, is it?’’ she spoke up quietly. But if they were, she’d want to see her family again. Her father, aunts, uncles, annoying cousins and she even had a sudden ache for the mother she barely knew. Her thoughts were interrupted by the voice close beside her. It took her a moment to recognise him because of the transparency but it was definitely Heats. She could never remember his name but she was always surprised that he remembered hers. One thing that she did remember? He was her friend and one of those few persons she never minded for company. “Hi,’’ she said softly and returned a smile of her own. Quite a few sneezes by the random girl punctuated the peacefulness of the room which she ignored as she turned her attention to sketching one of the vases of flowers at the back of her Divination book. “Hi, Murray,’’ Claudine replied, glancing up once at him then focusing back on her sketch. “You’re chipper today.’’
Thank goodness no one was sitting on someone else, or so it seemed for that moment. Claudine had had that happen to her before and the entire thing had been so awkward. Anyway, she hurriedly tried to finish off her sketch so that she could pay attention to the lesson and not get bumped by the professor. It was a bit disappointing there were so little flowers because that meant the students most likely would have to share those; in other words, team work. That was something she still was not fond of.
As for the first question, Claudine didn’t bother answering. Finella {Fiona} must have the right response or maybe it was Bryan {Blake}. Claudine herself couldn’t recall any other word for this particular topic.

Naya was busy admiring the flowers when there was an addition at her table. Smiling as the younger Slytherin arrived, she said “Hi Isla”. Good. She wouldn’t have to sit alone today. And then there were three. Naya nodded at Fiona when she joined the group. Just then, class was starting and the Professor began to speak.
Naya tried to focus on Professor Kitridge, as she presented the first question of the day. Of course the lesson had to do with flowers because......well they weren’t just for decoration. Before Naya could venture a guess, the question had been answered. She tried to search her brain for information about Floromancy. She knew this. Why couldn’t she remember anything? This memory thing was so frustrating. She decided to just keep quiet.......for now.

Charlie wasn’t used to the whole not being able to see everyone well thing even though it had been going on long enough that she should be used to it. She had found a seat that was empty. She wasn’t sure if she would be able to enjoy the lesson. Flowers she liked, she wasn’t so sure she’d like knowing that flowers had a major divination tie to them.
No sooner than she had tried to pull the term out of her noggin another girl answered the question. Should she give another fact about the type of divination or just let it roll and continue waiting for the actual lesson?

Carsyn smiled up at Professor Kitridge when she praised her for helping Bernie out. But honestly, wasn't that part of her job? To help out? Moving on though they were going to be using the flowers for today's lesson, which she hoped would make Bernie feel better in that she would be suffering for a purpose? Hopefully the zinc would help too?
As far as divination by flowers, floromancy, as Fiona mentioned was the obvious one but Carsyn was sure there was another word. What was it? It might have actually been the same thing but just a different word used by different cultures.... she was almost positive there was something in her OWL studying last year. Um.... Umm... Scratching her forehead absently in concentration, she wrinkled her face up for a brief moment before relaxing and raising her hand.
"It might be the same thing as what Fiona mentioned, but anthomancy i think is also divination by flowers." Probably just another word though for the same thing. Honestly, no idea. Latin wasn't her strong point. If it was even Latin.

Aboli wiggled a little when Bernadette came to sit next to her - she remembered the girl's name correctly for now - and smiled at her. Until she gave a big ole' sneeze. Well that was gross and UNCALLED for. "And Herbology doesn't make you sneeze at all?" she asked skeptically. Hmph. Had Bernie ever sneezed this obnoxiously in THERE?
But class was starting, and Aboli's blue eyes locked forward on Professor Kitridge.
"Well, Professor, as someone mentioned, Divination with flowers is floromancy. But some people would also argue that the art of reading tea leaves also uses "flowers" too...considering what plants you might use for that." She shrugged a bit. That was enough talking for now; time to give someone else a go. Aboli would prattle on and on if she could.

Heath barely noticed the snaps he got from Professor Kenobi. He was too lost in his own thoughts to notice much of anything, and the conversation he overheard upon joining the table wasn’t helping matters. Could they please talk about something besides dying? Between the flowers reminding him of home and that subject, it was getting hard to pretend to be unaffected by all this, and coming from an aspiring actor like him, that was really saying something! He bit his lip, keeping his eyes down so as not to accidentally look at the flowers or anyone’s transparent form, and as he did, he saw Claudine’s sketch. Wow, he didn’t know she could draw like that! “Nice sketch,” he said quietly.
Then someone else Heath didn’t know - or didn’t remember that he knew - joined the table. “Hey,” he replied, forcing himself to look up; the greeting was directed at both of the other boys (MF and Kitt) at the table.
Heath blinked confusedly at the question. The only thing he could think of that was even remotely close to flower divination was the old cliche of picking petals off flowers to supposedly determine whether or not someone likes them. Was that even a real method of divination or just something muggles do when they have a crush? It sounded ridiculous, so he was going to assume the latter and keep quiet about it.

Oh, yeah. This was a the snapping professor, wasn't it? Isla had forgotten which one that had been! She snapped a bit in Kitridge's direction, too, although she really didn't know what they did that for. Anyway, they could accidentally sit on one another?! That's right! They were invisible! She wondered if she'd ever done that and just never realized it. WEIRD.
She had no idea what type of Divination dealt with flowers. She pointed a finger in Fiona's direction, though, and said, "I agree!" Sounded good to her. Isla secretly really didn't like Divination, so learned all the different types just wasn't what she was in to. "Floromancy," she stated, looking back up at Kitridge. She hadn't raised her hand, because she'd done more of a discussion thing, and it would have been kind of weird to raise her hand to Fiona.

"Very good, very good. Yes Flormancy is a type of Divination we use flowers for." There were others, but that was a good one. She of course got snaps, but her snaps didn't do much since her fingers slipped right through each other.

She gave him a small smile before turning to the rest of the class. Her heart hurt for the students. It had to be so stressful on them with everything going on.

"Yes..." Who was that talking? Oh she thought she had the voices down but now she was struggling. "Floromancy is a great answer."

"No I don't think it is Claudine." Cassie was struggling to find words to help her students. She was starting to wonder if she should hold the lesson as she had planned.

Glancing around even if she couldn't see all of them well she wanted to make sure they were all doing alright and hearing her okay. So she gave a nod to the silent students to encourage them.

No sooner than she had tried to pull the term out of her noggin another girl answered the question. Should she give another fact about the type of divination or just let it roll and continue waiting for the actual lesson?
Noticing another glimmer of a person staying quiet she nodded an encouraging nod in her direction.

"Very good, it is another form that uses flowers. There are actually a few different ones that do." She was happy to hear some of the ways from the group today.

"Yes Aboli they do say that reading tea leaves is a form since most tea leaves are herbs or small flowers. Very good."

Another quiet one, well it was okay. Yes, they could listen and learn many things today.

Someone that gave snaps back. Cassie was head over heels excited to see this and if her own fingers would work at the moment.. she snapped again and they were working now, YAY! She gave her snaps, "Yes very good."
"Flowers are a very easy tool since we can find flowers in many places. I was hoping when I had planned this lesson to either have it outside where you could pick your own wild flowers or have so many they filled the room, but things happen and we work with what we have. I adore flowers and keep a few in my office, which helped for this lesson." Thankfully she had done this, if she hadn't they would be doing a different lesson.
Her eyes went to a few of the younger students and to Kitt and she sighed, "Students, I bet is incredibly hard to focus on classes right now isn't it?" She was struggling to focus on things and she knew they had to be so stressed out. She moved around her table and counted the students in the room and turned to count the flowers.
Did she have enough? Yes, this would work.
"I'm going to throw out part of the way I was going to do the lesson today, because I think we need a bit of fun to get our minds off of worrying, even for just a moment. I had asked you to bring parchment and I want you to take that out right now and place on your table, then I want you to come up and pick four flowers to take back to your seat."
Yes, they could still do the lesson and have a little stress relieving activity as well. "While you are doing that, can anyone tell me how we use flowers for Floromancy?"
** Sorry for the delay everyone, I've been having computer problems.
Tom listened to the Professor and then did as he was told, he first took out the parchment that he had brought with him and then went over and picked four flowers before he returned to his seat, whilst doing so he thought about the question.
"Well I was thinking maybe we hold them in our hands and we feel the force the plant gives off?" Tom smiled after he had finished speaking, that was the only thing he could think off.
Oh, how we drift away from our friends. And the ones back home play remember when
Fiona placed her parchment in front of her and then went and selected four flowers. As she headed back to her seat, she thought about an answer to the question that Professor Kitridge had posed.
"There's that thing where you pluck a petal and say something like 'he loves me, he loves me not.' Maybe that relates to this form of divination."
Yeah, Fiona was unsure of herself as per normal. Well, it was normal as per the current circumstances.
~ Mrs. Steve Harrington ~ It be like that sometimes.
Claudine turned to smile at Heats, to show her thanks for his compliment but then realised that he probably couldn’t see her anyway. “Thank you,’’ she whispered, anyway. Did he know that sketching was her hobby and that she was actually good at it?
Incredibly hard? Try nearly impossible at times. This was exactly how Claudine felt about this situation. Why was it that Hogwarts was always so dramatic? While she did appreciate the Professor’s thoughts on them having fun, she wanted nothing more than for them to find a solution to getting this situation remedied. She wanted to be whole and proper again, with her memory intact. Surely this was also what everyone else wanted. Pittsburgh more than anyone else, perhaps.
With a small sigh, the third year retrieved the parchment from her bag and set it on the table before her, careful to not let it get in the way of the boys’ spaces. Next, she followed some students to choose the flowers but hung back until they had made their choices. When her turn came, she chose two roses, one daisy and one lily.
Coincidentally, Claudine was thinking along the same lines as Finella. She had seen a cousin(?) of hers do that pathetically once. Or was it twice? Anyway, Claudine would give her own answer. “We probably use the patterns or structure of the petals to help with interpretations.”
