Welcome to your duel!
As this is just a reintroduction to the duelling club (a test run essentially) there will be no tournaments this go. A list of spells to use can be found HERE.

Headmaster Trent will be present to oversee the duels and will only interfere if the duel ends or any foul play or unsportsmanship-like behaviour is displayed.
Please remember to adhere to the Dueling Club rules, the DADA rules as well as the SS Site rules.

OOC: This duel must be completed by the 23rd of February by 11:59pm EST. You're required to make a minimum of 3 posts each in that time.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate in contacting me about them or posting them in the Dueling Club Rules thread. If you don't think you can post during that time or you don't think you can start/finish your duel, please let me know as soon as possible and we'll try and work something out.
Please note that you do NOT need to keep a note of any points used, gained or lost during this duel. Simply carry out the RPG process as normal.
Also remember to be as realistic as possible with your charrie's age and ability.
First person mentioned in the thread title is the first person to start off the duel.

Claudine was rather thrilled when she found out that she would be dueling Professor Rainwater. Why? Because she was quite sure that he would not go easy on her as she was only a second year. She had been practicing as much as she could to strengthen her spell work and couldn’t wait to see how much she had improved. She arrived at the Arena, her wand in hand.
“Hi, Professor.’’ Claudine made sure to keep the usual charms on: a serious face and to be to the point; the girl wanted to be taken seriously as a worthy opponent, you see. That’s why she was already positioning herself on one end of the Arena and making that confident bow she had practiced so often during the DADA lessons. Without hesitation, the first spell was shot. “Tarantallegra.’’ In her opinion, the wand movement was so accurate for the spell as it reminded her of dancing feet. |

Gus had been looking forward to this since he'd volunteered. It was a break from the greenhouses and right now it was a break from marking essays that he was due to hand back tomorrow. Upon seeing that he was paired with Miss Blaze, he had chuckled. She had every way of surprising him, honestly. He didn't know what he expected from the second year, but he was certain she'd enjoy whatever the outcome.
Impressed with her punctuality, Gus bowed also and flashed Claudine a smile. "Miss Blaze, let's see what you've got." And also what she didn't. That's what this was, right? A learning exercise? For the students. Not for the staff. He was quick to pop up a shield with another smile before casting back. "Ventus Duo!" Blowin' away the competition, yeah?

Remember how Claudine had been hoping earlier that Rainwater didn’t go easy on her? Well, she got what she wanted and truthfully, as she staggered backwards due to the force of the strong force of the wind, she was pleased for the challenge. Claudine grit her teeth and with difficulty, raised her wand. “Finite.’’ Mercifully, that blast had ruined her hair and now loose strands fell against her face. An impatient hand swiped at them.
“Slugulus Eructo.’’ Did she really want Rainwater to vomit slugs for ten minutes? Not really but it was the first spell that had come to her mind. Sorry, professor. However, Claudine only half hoped that the man would block the spell. | |

Gus couldn't help but laugh at the impact of his spell on Claudine. He'd offer her a hair brush if she really wanted it, but it was funnier to see the swipe of her hands to try fix it. Had she been an older student, Gus would have been hot on his own defence, but she was a second year and second years were twelve and thirteen years of age. Children. And he was here to help teach her, not to belittle or embarrass her by dominating. Which was how she caught him quick with those slugs.
Leaning to the side, Gus threw up the first of what was probably going to be many slugs before giving Claudia a thumbs up for a good cast. Brb, just being Gurgustius Pukewater for a few more minutes.

Oh yes, Professor Rainwater. Claudine saw you laughing at her. She knew it had to do with how she looked rather than her spellwork. No one could make fun of her spellwork, not when she spent time practicing in the Duelling Arena with those dummies. And it paid off. Indeed it did for Claudine was now looking on as her Herbology professor barfed up some horrible looking slugs.
