Welcome to your duel!
As this is just a reintroduction to the duelling club (a test run essentially) there will be no tournaments this go. A list of spells to use can be found HERE.

Headmaster Trent will be present to oversee the duels and will only interfere if the duel ends or any foul play or unsportsmanship-like behaviour is displayed.
Please remember to adhere to the Dueling Club rules, the DADA rules as well as the SS Site rules.

OOC: This duel must be completed by the 23rd of February by 11:59pm EST. You're required to make a minimum of 3 posts each in that time.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate in contacting me about them or posting them in the Dueling Club Rules thread. If you don't think you can post during that time or you don't think you can start/finish your duel, please let me know as soon as possible and we'll try and work something out.
Please note that you do NOT need to keep a note of any points used, gained or lost during this duel. Simply carry out the RPG process as normal.
Also remember to be as realistic as possible with your charrie's age and ability.
First person mentioned in the thread title is the first person to start off the duel.

Cecelia couldn't help but wonder if the headmaster KNEW she wasn't a fan of History of Magic. Was this punishment for maybe, sort of, almost looking bored during a lesson?! She HOPED not! She ALSO hoped that Professor Recard saw that she'd put a LOT of effort into preparing for this. She MIGHT only be a second year, but she was a spunky one, and she was prepared for battle!

"Hello Professor! Ready?" She was! She even started to sloooowly bow so that the professor would bow and they could bow TOGETHER. She was going for a deep one because that seemed respectful, 'specially when you were dueling against someone who taught you! She had this dueling thing DOWN!

Gabriela had hoped she'd get an enthusiastic partner when she had volunteered to help Trent out with his dueling club. Miss Summers definitely delivered on that. She smiled at the young Gryffindor as she took her spot across the room from her. She bowed her head low, mimicking the girl who was obviously SUPER excited about this, and grinned up at her.
"Ready, Miss Summers!" she called back to her with a small chuckle as she turned on her heel and moved to her spot in the traditional dueling stance. The first spell she was going to send at her was going to be an easy one - despite what many people would say Gabriela Recard was not a monster, and wouldn't come out with an advanced spell against a student opponent right off the bat. Let alone one who was so young.
"Expelliarmus!" she exclaimed, waving her wand at Cecelia with a small flourish.

She got into position TOO, EYEING the professor all suspicious-like while she raised her wand. THIS WAS SO OFFICIAL! She had a FEELING something was coming, and so JUST as the professor cast her spell, Cecelia cast one of her own. EEP!
"Protego!"
Her shield went up, but it was weak, and she felt her wand wiggle in her hand as if it wanted to leap from it. "NOT TODAY, WAND!" Not today. MERLIN, that was close!
"Nice one, professor!" Cecelia was impressed, all smiles and appreciation for such excellent spell casting. She kept ON smiling even as she tried for another spell. "Tarantallegra!" Cece LIKED that spell, did Professor Recard know?

To be honest, Gabi was..a little surprised that Cece was so quick on her feet and managed to block her spell that quickly. Perhaps she'd underestimated how much Trent taught these kids in their first years? Either way, the small hesitation caused her to be a bit too slow throwing up a shield charm as Cece sent a jinx at her. She let out a little yell of surprise as her feet started dancing uncontrollably - a small embarrassment she had to endure for just a few seconds before a wave of her wand stopped that.
"Flipendo!" she exclaimed, sending her next spell at the young Gryffindor.

The thing was, the second year was pretty good at the shield charm on account of it was one of the spells she had to practice the most so she didn't, you know, die. DIE! Because defense against the dark arts was dramatic like that. She was STILL working on it, even, but she'd take a weak but workable shield over not being able to make one at all! She would.
She would ALSO take the fact that she'd just JINXED THE PROFESSOR! omghghlhhs! Was it wrong to giggle because it was REALLY hard not to and Cecelia had a sort of giggle turned cough reaction to seeing the woman's legs dancing around like they were. THAT WAS SO COOL! Hehehehe! Oh man! Epic!
OOOMPH!
So. okay. she'd gotten a liiiiittle distracted. It's why she definitely hadn't seen the knockback jinx coming AND why she'd ended up right on her rear, looking up at the professor with big blue-green eyes. WHOOPS! "I gotta learn how to do that!" It was a powerful spell, that was for sure.
"Expelliarmus," She called out as she scrambled to her feet, making an attempt at disarming the history buff while at least buying her a moment to stand up. This dueling thing was very intense stuff!

Gabi chuckled. The Gryffindor's enthusiasm was contagious. She smiled at her and prepared herself for the return fire. "All in good time, Miss Summers, I'm sure you'll learn it someday," she encouraged her as she prepared herself for the spell she was going to send her way.
She expected something like that - and this time, Gabi was ready. She waved her wand and muttered "Protego!" even though she could have performed the spell non-verbally and possibly even without her wand, if she concentrated enough, but the purpose of this was to help Cece learn! And what better way to learn than through example?
