Finally. Thank god the final feast was here to rescue him from his below average school year. How it had been so dramatic and full of detention the tall prefect would never know but he was happy to be waving goodbye to it all the same.

Sitting in the middle of the hall, he couldn’t help but cast a glance around at the hall for a brief moment with an almost wistfully for a moment though. Unsure if he was coming back, it was almost bitter sweet now that he really too the time to really think about what was happening. Now that he was here in the moment. Sure, this year hadn’t been great but he’d there was so much more here than just the negative memories of this year. And the food! People could say what they want but coming back here after a long summer of sofa surfing, living off scraps and then having everything you could ever want all on one table…what more could you ask for?

Either way, in a few days he’d be back home with Eleanor and Kingsley, most likely covered in copious amounts of mud, AKA, his happy place. And with that thought, Ewan sat there, most likely staring off into space for the moment as he waited for his fellow students to arrive.

She knew the term was ending and as much as she wanted it to be over and wanted summer, she felt sad now that it was here. Her oldest brother was graduating, Kodee was graduating, Drewett, and so many more of her friends. She had made them all gifts and would be passing them out at some point in the evening but for now, she went to her table to find a seat.

Her sadness was halted by seeing Ewan. Did she go sit with him or would he want her to sit somewhere else? They had talked through things and we're good, at least she thought they were good now, but he needed space and she could respect that too.

Deciding to just be the usual she went over to the seat across from him instead of her usual right beside him. This way she could say she wasn't forcing him to be near her, but she was sitting close. "Hey Ewan, one step closer to Canada." Giving him a smile she knew he was excited to head home, she was too. She couldn't wait for quidditch and the fun summer always had.

Her eyes headed to the Slytherin table to see if her brother was there yet, "Can't believe Gunnar won't be here next year."

Missa just wanted to be on the Slytherin table. But house loyalty was a thing and she was a prefect. So, she found herself at her OWN table - settling down besides Ewan, and opposite Chloe, "hello" - she greeted them both with a smile.

"Excited for summer?" she asked the most mundane question of them all as her eyes wandered over to the green table - because Nettie had decided to join Eiji. Because of course she did.

No matter, no matter - she told herself repeatedly, and tore her eyes away from the two, trying to offer her own head some peace of mind. But honestly, now she could not wait to go meet Eiji, as planned, very much away from the feast.

“O Canada! Our home and native land!” See, he had learnt something new whilst living out there. Laughing a little now at himself, he just gave Chloe a small smile “Can you tell I’m looking forward to it?” He was. Just in case anyone in the great hall didn’t already know. Having his friend Chloe back was honestly a relief. Even now, the looming frown which had situation itself on his face the past few months had almost retreated entirely to the point where the happy go lucky boy that he used to be was almost visible again.

“I guess that’ll be…Oh, hey Missa” Secretly, he was glad to be stopped mid-sentence because trying to lie to her about how sad he was that Gunnar was leaving didn’t really sit right with him. Obviously, she knew he was less than fond of him but still, trying to be all fake and sad when he really didn’t feel that way just wasn’t how the Ravenclaw prefect worked. Returning Missa’s smile, he replied “Yup, I can’t wait to get home. This year… it just seems to have dragged a little, I guess”. Boy was that an understatement.

“What about you? You got any grand plans?”

Now that his first term at Hogwarts was almost over, Heath wasn't sure how to feel about it. There had been some ups and downs, sure, but all in all, Hogwarts wasn't as scary as he thought it would be. Certainly not as scary as muggle school anyway! If anything, he was excited for the summer. In a few days, he was off to acting camp. Then he was going to Canada with the rest of the family to watch his brother play quidditch, and speaking of Canada…

Heath blinked in confusion as he sat down, just in time to hear Ewan singing(?) the first lines of the Canadian national anthem. Was he from Canada? Going on vacation there this summer? Because if so, what were the odds of that?! Two Ravenclaws with the same last name, though in no way related, going to the same place for summer… Heath was dying to know, but he was too scared to ask. The older students might think he was nosy or something! Instead, he waved at everyone at the table and said a quiet, "Hi."

She was giggling at his singing and feeling more relaxed, things were feeling right again and she was very thankful for it. Knowing how their friendship could have been ruined Chloe would take this any day and gave Missa a smile as she joined them. Glancing towards the table her eyes had gone Chloe realized how far she had drifted from her roommates this year, they hadn't really hung out at all. Was Missa still with Eiji or was Nettie now with him?

She held in a chuckle, but it felt good to realize she wasn't the only mess when it came to confusion with liking people. At least from her view, it seemed confusion, maybe it wasn't. Shrugging her thoughts away she turned as another joined, "Hello Heath, ready for summer?"

Turning her attention back to Missa an Ewan she had already known Ewan's plans, "I'm ready, I can't wait to play quidditch again. What are your plans Missa?"

It was time for the end-of-term feast already! Jina could remember the start-of-term feast very well, when she joined Ravenclaw, talked to new friends, and ate the best food ever. The past year was mostly enjoyable, but she looked forward to the summer break too. She would spend some time studying for NEWT exams that she would take this time next year, but she would also get to spend much time with her loving family and friends, whom she missed dearly. Leaving the wizarding world for a few months was also something she needed to recharge mentally.

She sat down at her house table and waved at everyone already there. She had grown fond of all her housemates after being around them for a year. "Hi everyone." She said. Were they talking about summer plans? Was Ewan talking about Canada? "I getcha - I'm really looking forward to going back to Canada to catch up with my family too."

Smiling at Chloe's excitement to play Quidditch, she turned her attention to Missa and Heath, curious about what they would say.

Sometimes he felt so lucky to be able to call this table his home. Not one of them had made fun of him for singing (If you could call it that). With the table filling up now, Ewan sat up straight a little, allowing him to talk to everyone now because, he certainly wasn’t rude. Giving Chloe a smile, he simply replied “Well, just don’t fall off or bang your head, yeah?” grinning at his fellow sixth year, soon to be seventh year!! Sighing slightly now, his smile falling ever so slightly, he couldn’t help but wonder where the time had gone.

Snapping out of his day dream, he gave Heath a nod and a polite “What’s up?” but if truth be told, he didn’t actually know him all that well. Not wanting to let this opportunity go though, he turned to him a little more now, angling his torso towards him, deciding to do his job as a prefect and try to get to know the kid. Sure, it may have been the end of the year but it was never too late. “So, Jones…How’s your second year been?” His last name was Jones, right? They did share last names, if he’d remembered correctly.

Oh? Had he heard that correctly? Was someone else going to Canada this summer too. Looking now, he’d discovered that it was in fact Jina, who’d joined their house just this year. Was she Canadian? What part did she live in? “You’re going to Canada this summer too Jina? Snap!” His own smile growing now. He’d love to meet up with some of his fellow Hogwortians out there and catch up or even have them over at his farm!

Was Eiji getting up? What?

But this was not the plan. They had to wait until the feast was done - and Missa was done with her perfecting duties and and and .... yeah.

While there was a very strong need to get up as well, the brunette forced herself to stay sitting - and instead focused on what Ewan and Chloe were saying.

"that sounds so cool, Chloe - I wish I was half as good at flying as you are," she said with a polite smile and no wandering eye. "I don't have any plans yet - but lets see, I know I won't be able to just sit idle she added as she looked at Ewan. "Do you have any plans?"

Heath had no idea how the older students would react to him. He was prepared to be ignored or told to go sit somewhere else, but to his relief, neither of those things happened. He smiled, turning to face Chloe as she spoke to him. "Uh huh," he replied with an emphatic nod. "Been looking forward to it for months!" It was only after he'd spoken that he realized that probably came out wrong. It wasn't so much that he wanted to leave Hogwarts; he was just excited to start acting camp. "I finally got into acting camp this summer, so that'll be fun," he quickly explained. Was he talking too much? Aw man, why did he always have to be so awkward?!

Luckily, Ewan's question distracted Heath before he could embarrass himself any further. He thought for a minute before answering, "It's been good… well, mostly." He could've done without being laughed at in front of the entire Herbology class, thank you very much! Then there were the frog dissections and the crazy founders roaming the school (not to mention the fight he had with his sister about them), but other than that, not much to complain about. "Hogwarts is a lot different than homeschool, that's for sure!"

Heath couldn't think of anything else to say at the moment, so he kept quiet… until he overheard Jina and Ewan talking about Canada. "Wait, you're both going to Canada this summer?" he blurted out before he could stop himself. He regretted the words the instant he said them. Now everyone was going to think he was a busybody! "Sorry…" he said, nervously running a hand through his long dark hair. "I don't mean to pry. It's just - talk about coincidence! I'm going to Canada too… well after acting camp, anyway. My family goes every year to visit my brother." He stopped just short of telling them who his brother was - Fiyero Jones, the blond blue-eyed quidditch player who looked absolutely nothing like him. That was bound to lead to an awkward conversation if anyone found out!

Chloe was never great at receiving compliments and it showed as she blushed when Missa said about her quidditch skills. "Oh, well thanks Missa." Glancing at the table feeling stupid for only saying thanks and not thinking of anything else to say or to return the compliment she focused on other things.

Like Jina saying about going to Canada too. This really made her think about how many people sitting just at this table lived over in North America that she didn't even realize. There were so many different accents that she never really paid much attention, her own being quite strong at times. Sticking her tongue out at Ewan she didn't say much more about hitting her head. She knew he was being serious, but she was trying to make a joke out of it.

Nodding and congratulating Heath as he spoke about his summer plans she fell quiet just listening to all the conversations around her. Summer was certainly in the air and more than just her was ready for the freedom of it.

After the headmaster's speech, Jina got some food onto her plate as she listened to her housemates speak.

"Yeah, I'm from Quebec, so I'm going back for a few weeks to see my family and friends." She explained. Most of her classmates knew that she was a new transfer student this year and some knew that she came from Ilvermorny, but not many people were aware that she is Canadian. She guessed it was mainly because she was shy and didn't talk about herself that much. It was indeed an interesting coincidence that so many of them were going to the same country for the summer. "Which province do you live in, Ewan? And acting camp sounds fun, congratulations, Heath! So your brother lives in Canada? What does he do?"

Even with his surprise over hearing that there’d be three Ravenclaws in Canada this summer, Ewan couldn’t help but quickly cast a glance in the same direction that Missa was looking in, curious to see what was holding her gaze, his eyes eventually resting on Eiji. Huh. What more was there to say? In a big school like Hogwarts, there were many social circles and this Ravenclaw wasn’t exactly in that particular one so if Eiji walking out of the great hall was interesting to Missa, he had no idea. “I’m sure you’ll find something to do” he replied now, his attention back on the conversation. “I’m most likely going to go back to Wales for a few days and see a few friends and then head back to Canada” It wasn’t exactly fun and games though. Between his helping to look after his niece and the farm, this would be one busy prefect. Not to mention the revision he would have to do too!

Out of the corner his eye, Ewan couldn’t help but cast a glance at Chloe as she sat opposite him only to notice she’d stuck her tongue out at him. Grinning back, he gave her a small wink and turned his attention back to Heath. Chloe did seem a little more subdued to him this particular feast but that could have well been down to her brother graduating. He couldn’t exactly blame her though. The idea of spending all of your school years with someone, a brother, only for them to not be there the following year, that was a lot. Way too much for this particular Ravenclaw.

With that in mind, he tried not to sound to down trodden when he replied to Heath “Yeah, I can imagine. Home schooling is a little safer” laughing now although he really shouldn’t be. With so much drama and near fatal experiences, he was honestly surprised the school hadn’t been shut down. “You can’t really get this type of experience back home though. You know, hands on”. He’d honestly considered staying home and home schooling himself somehow but in his seventh year, being at Hogwarts just seemed like a necessity.

After waiting for the headmaster’s speech, the Ravenclaw prefect turned back to Heath and Jina “My Aunt and her Boyfriend live in Nelson. They own a farm out there so I’m basically going to be slave labour this summer” Which was true and also not true. “It’s not going to be as fun as acting camp I’m guessing but looking after animals has its own benefits” What was he saying, he adored the farm animals and don’t even get him started on when lambing season starts. Was the 6ft2 Ravenclaw prefect gushing over baby lambs? Why yes. Yes, he was.
