| | |  HoM Lesson 2 - Neville Longbottom
 Honestly? Gabi was looking forward to the end of term. After everything that had happened - she still was having nightmares about Mathys bleeding on the floor of his cabin - she was more than ready to have a nice relaxing summer to recenter herself. But first things first - she had to finish this school term. She'd done a ton of prep for her classes and wasn't going to let some ridiculous rogue paintings ruin her lessons! This one in particular was one she had been looking forward to for a while.
Gabi was situated on her desk, sitting on the edge of it very casually. Considering how this term had gone, she'd decided to let her hair down a bit, so to speak. They all deserved to take it a little easy after everything that had happened. She was even wearing flats instead of her usual heels!
The other thing the students would notice as they walked in? All the desks had been moved so they were clumped in to groups. Five groups, to be exact. At the center of each desk cluster was an item that would be pertaining to today's lesson.
"Welcome! Please pick a table to sit at and examine the object in front of you," she told them all as they began to trickle in. "Please do NOT touch the items at the moment. There are no assigned seats, but try and spread yourselves out, please," she explained. They would be able to examine the items in a bit closer in a moment.
Come in, select a spot to sit, and get ready. The lesson will be underway soon!
OOC: Hey everybody! Welcome to your second and final HoM class for the term! Please select an item to sit by and make it very clear in your RP post which item your character has selected. As Gabi said, please try to spread out a bit so that each item has at least 1 person! Be sure to familiarize yourself with the Classroom Rules and Expectations as well as the SS RPG rules before posting. Thanks! Class will commence in roughly 30ish hours! Class has started! Please do NOT post your character entering late or face the IC consequences. Things are up in the air around here, as I'm sure they are for many people, so it all depends on how my work schedule turns out tomorrow.

This class was definitely taking all the brain power from Carsyn and she wasn't quite sure how she was still faring alright. Perhaps she had inherited more from her mother than she had realized. So many interesting theories indeed and how intriguing if history would have been altered by one simple thing such as an individual, how much would change?? Whoever said one person couldn't make a difference, clearly never studied history. Or was never taught by Professor Recard.
One event and how it might have played out if Neville was the chosen one, not Harry. Made her speculate too, would Harry and Ginny have still ended up together? Perhaps it wouldn't have been Ginny who was taken into the Chamber of Secrets then? Tom Riddle took Ginny because he knew Harry was close with the Weasleys ... he knew it made him vulnerable, but this ... that wouldn't have happened with Neville, right? Which also made Carsyn wonder ... who were Neville's close friends? Dipping her quill into her inkwell, the fifth year considered possible events before settling on one. And began to write.

On the train to Hogwarts, Harry and Ron met the first time and Ron was immediately struck by Harry's fame. The boys bonded immediately, over Harry buying every snack available on the food trolley as he had money and zero control and had never tried wizarding snacks before. All this would altered by one small tweak in that Harry would have no scar on his forehead. Harry's parents might even have still been alive. Which brings me to believe that it would have been Neville sitting in that compartment with Ron that first train ride.
Neville already knew he was the chosen one, having been briefed about it from his grandmother, so when people gaped at his scar, he wouldn't have thought it that big a deal because he knew what happened. He knew there was no car accident. He knew who Voldemort was. Neville as the chosen one that first train ride would have eliminated the need to share knowledge about Voldemort, as Neville would have already been briefed about it and meant he could move on to the making friends part. Something that would have come more easily to him, as he told the gang - Harry, Ron, Hermione - about his magical upbringing. About how they weren't sure he was even magic at all.
Perhaps Voldemort had taken his magic and left him with a scar when he was baby. The reason for his lateness in showing magic signs. Hermione would have been impressed by Neville's knowledge of wizarding history, not needing to show off to him and perhaps even becoming his friend from the beginning instead of needing to wait until she was a damsel in distress. Instead of a trio, it would have been a quartet. With Neville being the one they all looked to for answers.
One individual can change history.
Their homework was ....... more writing? Merlin, was this some sort of preliminary glimpse as to what NEWT classes would look like, assuming she passed her OWL? Reading over her essay, she sighed, because she guessed that was as good as it was going to get, before deciding to add one final closing statement. "Thank you for the very ... thought provoking class, Professor," she said, setting her essay upon her desk and leaving.

After proofreading her response, she put down her quill and stood up to hand the parchment to Professor Recard. She wrote down the homework in her planner, with the due date, thinking that she would complete it after dinner. It seemed like an interesting assignment! What was her favourite Neville Longbottom moment? She would have to do some more reading to find out. She packed up her things and left the classroom, thanking the professor on her way.
