| | Headmaster's Office Well, it's an office.
There's a desk, there's bookshelves, the walls are lined with portraits of past Headmasters and Headmistresses as is the custom. Nothing out of the ordinary here.
On the large, wooden desk sits several pictures of a woman with a bright and enchanting smile. Some pictures had (if you asked the Headmaster) the cutest children ever to be created in the history of man's creation. One picture contains these beautiful people and Trent himself. Not all the pictures are still. The little girl in one picture blows kisses occasionally and the little boy who is clearly the older of the pair occasionally breaks into a grin in his own frame. It was his mother's grin, could you tell? Did you need a closer look? Don't smudge the glass and don't leave fingerprints, that's just inconsiderate. Look with your eyes and not your hands.
This is usually where you'll find the Headmaster, getting through some important paper work or making plans. It's of course, not a guarantee he'll be up here as the man does have a habit of wandering. Sitting still for hours was never his strong suit.
If you wish you speak with him, approach the stone gargoyles and have yourself a nice wait. They're not likely to let you in without the password and only the Headmaster and his staff are privy to that bit of information. Don't break them trying to force your way in anyway. They've been here since long before you were born and won't appreciate that kind of abuse. There's ways of trying to let yourself in that would prove to be less a nuisance--not that you're encouraged to. Whatever you've got to discuss with Headmaster Trent can't be THAT pressing. What's a five minute wait?

Lord. Of all the company to join him at the gargoyles it had to be Gryffindor of all people. "Jealous?" Salazar replied with a smirk. Though he hardly needed to be a skilled legilimens with this bashful oaf. Was there ever a time when Godric didn't want to settle things with a bellowing shout and a duel?
Rowena though...her, he was having problems reading, and it was incredibly frustrating. It was so much easier when people yielded their innermost thoughts and barely realised it. "Neither did I," he responded with an eye roll about not using their wands. So much for her being the smart one, he didn't even have his wand in his ringed hands. No, he'd planned on a much different approach.
What it was he didn't get to explain, however, as soon the man they were waiting for arrived. "Helga is right," as much as it hurt him to admit it, "what we've been doing hasn't been about having fun." The last word was almost spat out in distaste. Though it had been rather invigorating, being properly amongst the students once more. "It's about raising the standards of this school. We're not going back, safe or otherwise. No, the only ones who will be going anywhere are the ones who let Hogwarts fall so far in the first place. I have a list." He pulled a length of rolled parchment from his dark green robes with a flourish. Malachi Trent was at the top of it...followed by Finneas Schmoe. Muggle Studies was not a reputable subject, and those infernal babies of his needed to go with him.

If it weren't for him having bigger fish to fry at the moment, Godric would have had it out with Salazar right now. Him? Jealous of that vile serpent?! What utter poppycock!
His eyes were rolling HARD as Helga spoke. She always allowed entirely too much wiggle room with people and it was why some (like himself, sometimes) walked all over her like an ornate Persian rug.
But also...could he get a taste of that chocolate? No?
"The entire school is tired!" Godric barked. Surely all had seen students falling asleep in lessons and occasionally on the benches in the corridors. He did not bother to read Salazar's list (which was ENTIRELY too long) and instead thrust his sword towards Trent so the tip was just hovering near the tip of his nose. "We can do this the easy way or the hard way, Trent. I personally hope you select the hard way for that is the far more entertaining option."

Time to return to their frames? Hah! Rowena let out a laugh at the man's preposterous idea and crossed her arms over her chest as she listened to his sorry attempt to get rid of them.
There was no way they could leave now, after having seen first hand how bad the state of the place really was. "Headmaster, please. You have to see how much the academia levels have declined over the years. Please, allow us to help you succeed."
Pause. "By letting us take charge." It was simple, really. And she had no doubts Godric would try and fight him if he said no.

Why were they talking to him like he was an old crup they were trying to put down? He looked tired? Let them be....in charge?
Malachi shook his head at the offer of chocolate, not thinking it wise to take treats from dead founders who, by all indication were trying to....take the castle? Raise the standards...? What....? The Headmaster barely got time to take and spot his name--at the top mind you--of Slytherin's list when there was suddenly a sword by his face.
This...this right here was why he'd never tried reasoning with Gryffindor. It wasn't possible and he'd seen what the man had done to De Nostredame.
Coolly, Malachi took a step away from the sword, returning the distance he'd been doing his best to maintain. "Right............" And another step, for good measure. "So...let me get this straight....you...you four have come to tell me...you're taking the castle. Is that it?" Just...y'know, checking because there was no way this day could get any weirder or more inconvenient. "And...by the look of Gryffindor's sword, I take it you all are prepared to take action whether I agree or not, yes?" Again, just checking. Calm, he was calm.
They had officially overstayed their welcome.

| Now, now, Godric. There was no need to threaten the Headmaster with a duel. Honestly! Resorting to violence was never the answer. Surely Headmaster Trent understood the severity of this situation and they could come up with a peaceful resolution. "For later then," Helga winked, stretching her hand forward to deposit the chocolates into the man's front pocket.
Then taking a step back, she rummaged through her own pockets for another snack for herself. All this confrontation was making her rather hungry. Despite this, she was still listening. "Yes," she nodded, lifting her head. "I am so glad you understand, Malachi dear. We only want what is best for our students."
Helga turned to give Godric a pointed look. See? No need for violence. Headmaster Trent was a reasonable man. He understood what needed to be done for the greater good of Hogwarts. This was rather easy, and left much time for a celebratory feast. |

Like he'd thought. The visit was overstayed. There was the beginnings of a however large scale mutiny within the castle and in his experience with that sort of thing, no matter how big it ended up being...told him it would be counter intuitive. "Sounds like the students will need to be addressed. Let's not waste anymore time here." His voice was still rather level. Was he truly this calm? Not exactly, but he was more grounded in his decisions and his resolve. This was no longer a question. It needed to happen.
Malachi lifted his wand to his throat and began to deliver a message that would be heard all over the castle. "All students report to the courtyard for an emergency assembly. Please begin making your way over there as quickly as possible. This is non-negotiable."
Thankfully, they would've just been finishing up their last lessons of the afternoon because a disruption was the last thing he needed for their sake. "Shall we?" To the courtyard, yes?
