For those who belong in Gryffindor House, on the left side of the Great Hall is where your table awaits. Red banners containing an embroidered golden lion float above the polished table in honour of the brave Godric Gryffindor. Already placed on the tables are silver plates with accompanying cutlery and goblets. All that is missing right now are the mountains of food and pitchers containing your favourite beverages.
Though your stomach might be growing as you take a seat on one of the long benches next to the table, it is important to not get hangry -- gnawing your arm away or jabbing your fork repeatedly on the surface of the table will do no good whatsoever. Give everyone some time to get settled in and wait for Headmaster Trent to deliver his speech. Keep yourself preoccupied by catching up with your fellow housemates or those who are visiting from the other tables until it is time to sink your teeth into the hearty and delicious meal prepared by the house-elves.

Kodee was not a very nice person, it turned out. He talked down to people just 'cause they were second years and they underestimated them just because... they... were girls! Yeah. He hated girls, which was an ugly thing to do. Phoebe crossed her arms and SULKED in Kodee's direction. "You're not offering us fun. You're gonna try to trick us and the firsties, and that's only fun for you. So say it like I'm being a Snitch with broken wings, flapping in a sad circle, but I'll throw my own party."
She gave Lucas some heavy eyebrows, all expressive and disapproving. Was he really gone to let the baby firsties get HURT? SCARED? Would he pay for their THERAPY later? With a lot of dramatic hair tossing, Phoebe turned her attention back to Louise-the-new-old-girl. "I like food. And your hair. So I'm glad you're here. And if anyone gives you a choice, never choose Kodee Chosen."
And there was Bernie! "Hullo, Bernie. I had a very good summer. I went to camp, and we had Cece's birthday, and I got a kitten! What did you do?"
"Wait. How many rats do you have?" Because she didn't think they were allowed more than one. See, no one would complain about her mongolian gerbil special rat. "I didn't take the boats. More just pointing them out to the boats and then rushing to catch a carriage, but ended up sharing with some super chatty third years." Or that might have been second years, but either way they annoyed her.
Turning his attention to Carsyn for a moment Cole watered his lips as he leaned in to whisper in her ear quietly. "I got five rats as a present from my uncle. 3 are presently unaccounted for, I hope they are safe in my dorm with the rest of my belongings. Do you think Prof Sandhu will be displeased with me?" It wasn't his fault. He had gotten a cage with what he had hoped to be a kneazle that had turned out to be full of rats. Cole had to go see his head of house after the feast and face the consequences. It'd be better than her coming to find him. "Sorry, you had a crappy carriage ride. I rode in one with some other boys that chatted about quidditch. I hope we get to play this year, don't you?" Since they hadn't been able last year at Beauxbatons.

Grey eyes shifted over to Carsyn when she suddenly seemed to not be sleeping as Lucas had suggested. Or perhaps she hadn't been sleeping at all. "It's not scaring them that you have to worry about.." He thought that part was obvious by the way he'd cut his sentence before telling them what they'd do AFTER. Y'know, once the kids were good and scared. Oh to be young and not understand the bigger picture again. 5th Years, pfft. "But it's nothing you need to worry about in the first place. Don't wanna jeopardize your badge or nothin'." SUCH a caring, over the top planner he could be. "Józef!" If the boy weren't so far, he may have patted him on the back. Quite pleased, yes he was. "Excellent. Peeves would be all too happy to get a shot at this. Nice one, mate. This is shaping up to be even better than I thought." Considering, for some strange reason, half the kids here were determined to follow the rules to a bloody T. Sad, really.
"What kind of charms?" He wondered. Initially Cole was pleased that Kodee liked his acromantula idea , but then Carsyn cut in like a responsible prefect. On second thought he didn't want to terrify or spook the first years, he had just wanted to contribute with an idea to the elder boy, now he wished he hadn't. "Can't we just do something fun in the common room together? It doesn't have to be spooky, maybe just some nice bertie botts tasting?" He returned Jozef's grin with one of his own. "Hi Jozef, it's nice to be back, isn't it?"

Looking over at Naya again Cole responded with a smile, hoping it'd smooth over his staring earlier. "I'm glad to hear that. I visited some relatives in Tenerife and I got to summer intern at the ministry. It was great. Can't wait to start the new year even if i'm nervous about the owls are you nervous about them too? I hope we'll get to try out for quidditch this year too." It was too long since he had been flying on a broomstick.

"How, uh, was your summer, by the way?"
It was a little surprising to be getting congratulations about the badge but, well, it was the first day. Maybe he should get used to this because he had a feeling that this wasn't the last he was going to hear of it. The thumping of his heart only got louder as he looked down at the badge on his chest and then back up at Cole again. "Thanks!" Smile? Ye-
Stupid. Now he had made it weird with Lucas too. How was he going to repair this without feeling like a right fool? Looking across the table at his friend he mumbled out a heartfelt apology. "I'm sorry Lucas. I didn't mean to sound rude earlier. I'm just worried about my 5 rats and what the professors will say about them and I don't want to end up in trouble like the last feast." Lucas must remember the vomiting scene. It hadn't been pretty. Forcing on a weak smile he said "I had a good summer actually. I got to swim in an ocean for the first time and intern at the ministry. How was your summer Lucas? Did you do anything fun?" Please could they get passed the weirdness. Cole felt enough guilty about what he had thought about Lucas this past summer when he had hear about who had gotten badged over him.

Shooting a look across the table to at Louise Cole had to grin with amazement. "Way to go Louise! You read seventeen books that's pretty cool! I only read three." Yep which was why the hiking comment was sort of lost on him. "I got to intern at the ministry and meet Minister Hollingberry and I went on a quidditch camp. I love quidditch, do you play too?" It'd be good if they got to play quidditch that some girls also tried out for the team.

No one wanted to be on the bad side of a prefect now did they?...still, she hadn’t really put herself out there last year when everyone was in her former dorm. It wasn’t her fault, Carsyn had been in the dorm with the sixth years as had everyone else she would have dormed with that year. ”Hi Cole, Carsyn?...its Carsyn right?” it was either that or she was messing her up with the sister she had heard her former dormmates talk about in their silly way. Always questioning if she had met them when she went to visit family in Wales. OH! Bubbles was in her house – she had nearly forgotten that…and she’d nearly used a nickname she hadn’t even tried in person out on Stella. ”hello,” she smiled over and waved at the blonde girl…wait did she hear that acromantula thing right?...turning toward Cole she just tipped her head ”maybe…you could charm something to make noise like an acromantula is crawling around the dorms at night?” they could do anything and have some fun with it even if she wasn’t such a fan of the giant spider infested dorm idea.
When Islay arrived Cole hadn't noticed since the table was quite busy but her comment to him was hard to not hear. Looking up at her he pursed his lips just a little as he replied back to her "Yes maybe but I didn't want that damaged one. Did you buy those ragged things you looked at for your dog?" Forcing on a smile Cole said "Hi Islay. Did you have good rest of summer?" Could they get something eat already? He was starving and his stomach was growling to show that. "Do you know a charm that can make animal noises like acromantulas?" It was probably unwise to ask but he did anyway. As for Kodee's suggestion, well he wasn't going to say yes first. Cole was going to see who signed up before he decided if he wanted to or not.
Rylee Prichard was A-Okay. This was going to be a great year. Hello firstie (Tom) sitting near her! "Hey, welcome to the best house." She greeted the kid with a smile.
Tom was nervous when an older student spoke to him, he gave her a small smile back. "Hello." Tom couldn't help but be a bit nervous, he was talking to an older student, that was scary and nervous. "So what's Hogwarts like?" He had a feeling that she would know right.

Rylee's attention remained on the younger boy when he replied to her greeting. There was something in his voice that told the seventeen year old that the kid was nervous. He had every right to be. Hogwarts was huge and there was tons of new people to meet. When she had first started here she thought that was the best part. Exploring and making new friends. Not everyone felt that way though. What was Hogwarts like? Uhhhhh. How did she answer that? Truthfully she could scare the heck out of this kid right now or she could gloss over certain things and just mention all the fun he would have. "It's... Hogwarts?" Her own reply earned a soft laugh from herself. "Hogwarts is a lot of things. It can be seriously overwhelming and scary but it's also loads of fun and you're going to make the best friends you've ever had here." All of which was true.
There was a shift in her gaze as she turned her head to focus more on what it was Kodee was talking about. "What's happening? Is there a plan or idea yet?" Clearly she had messed the main point in the discussion but if there was anything she could help with she might do so.

Prior to entering the great hall, Cordelia had taken a moment to retouch her makeup and roll her uniform skirt up to a scandalous length that was sure to attract the attention of boys. She was ready to try to find more boys who would be willing to lock lips with her. The almost fifteen year old was no baby anymore, and she was going to make sure that people recognized it. Cordelia waved to Rylee, Carsyn, and Jozef as she made her way down the long table towards where all the action was. Ugh, Carsyn Rose was out there outdoing Cordelia again by making prefect. Not that Cordelia wanted a badge because she was much more into fun and troublemaking than responsibility and enforcing the rules, but still she couldn’t help feeling a slight twinge of jealousy that her friend had achieved something that she likely never would. She slid into a seat at the Gryffindor table right in the middle of the crowd where she was sure to get all the attention. Upon hearing someone discussing quidditch, Cordelia turned her attention to him (Cole). ”You play quidditch? Me too. I was Gryffindor seeker last time we had a team, you know, and I’ve played in the U14 and U17 summer leagues too. What position do you play?” Perfect. Boys around her age who were interested in quidditch were exactly her target. He was fairly good-looking, too.
Cordelia looked over to Kodee as she heard his scheming. What was this about initiation for the kids? ”What are we doing? Something fun?” She would be up for an adventure, provided that plans were in place to avoid getting in trouble. It was good to be back at Hogwarts.
