| | Transfiguration Lesson 2 When you show up for this afternoon’s Transfiguration class on the second floor, you will find the door closed and a lesson already in session. It’s not your lesson though, so better not interrupt unless you want to get on the bad side of an angry Beauxbatons professor. The classroom has clearly been double-booked. Nightmare!!
But don’t worry, Barlow has charmed a large sign on the door for his students. Quote: HOGWARTS TRANSFIGURATION
Relocated to
Dining Chamber That’s right.
Unable to book a different classroom at such short notice, today’s lesson has been relocated to the palace dining chamber. It was this or the grounds and it was a tad bit chilly for that.
Luckily, the three, long dining tables have not yet been set for this evening’s dinner and Barlow is sat at the middle table waiting. “Everyone around this one, please,” he instructs when students gradually start filtering in. “Take a seat, take a seat!”
OOC: Hello, hello! Welcome to the dining chamber for the second RPed Transfig lesson of the term! You’ve got 24 hours to post your arrivals before we move on <3 Class has started! Lesson Progression Greetings and Question 1 Question 2 Mini Activity Main Activity |

| ~ Mrs. Steve Harrington ~ It be like that sometimes. Claudine gave up trying to reason with Bernie. If the Lioness wanted to continue laughing at the situation, then fine. At least the lesson was almost over and just maybe Bernie would forget about this entire thing. Maybe; hopefully. Anyway, so Barlow hadn’t answered her question and Claudine made a mental note to bother him about it again later. “Bernie, you’re not going to really eat snails, are you?’’ Claudine asked, setting her wand down and starting to feel sick at the same time. “Slimy little things with antennae…’’ Ew. Ew. Ew. Why couldn’t Barlow have asked the elf to bring them something else?
And then there was the ending of the lesson and all Claudine had managed to accomplish was transfiguring a fork. At any rate, she might be doing some practice later today. She started to gather up her things. “Thanks for the lesson, Professor Barrington.’’ Yes, she had purposely called Barlow that. Ignoring Blake, she asked, “Are you heading out now, Bernie?’’
Yes? No? Gonna stay to slurp snails? Yuck. |

| main activity stuff YesJess! | Captain Goggles | Mama Badger | Eva's Soul Sister | An OG™ | It's all in the Numbers Carsyn was impatient in waiting for the what ANY of this had to do with Transfiguration. Normally she enjoyed the subject, but perhaps it was being in the dining hall, today was different. And then the moment finally came for when they were transfiguring and the fourth year just sat there for a minute, staring at the floaty letters. They were transfiguring their things into utensils? And they may get them back? Okay, well as someone who has seen Professor Barlow teaching them for two years, Carsyn Rose was ninety percent sure he was one of the less responsible teachers. Not that he was a bad teacher; she enjoyed his lessons, but he seemed to be of the absent-minded variety and she had made that decision that whatever utensils she managed to transfigure she would not be leaving for any grimy handed kid to use for dinner. Except maybe her Divination textbook, but otherwise, no, she'd just take them with her and attempt un-transfiguration on her own or just wait for time to do its thing.
Jotting down the spells into her notes, she reviewed them carefully Quote:
Quills into cutlery/utensils - Ferramenta Verto [Fer-RA-men-TA]
Parchment into napkins - Mappa Verto [MA-pa]
Inkwells into goblets - Calix Verto [CA-lix]
Textbooks into plates/bowls - Patella Verto [Pa-TEL-la]
Ah, good thing she took the notes now cause that meant she didn't need the quills any longer. "Fer-ra-men-ta. Fer-ra-ment-o. Feramento. Feramento Verto." She recited a few times, unaware of as she progressed, the last syllable changed slightly. "Feramento Verto." She recited with the wand movement aimed at the quill. Something happened, but it was not a utensil she could use... the feathered portion seemed to separate out into the tines of a fork but it was definitely not functional. Hmm.
Moving on. Except interruption from one of the house elves with ... snails? Making a face at that, the fourth year just pretended to not notice, as she focused now on the inkwells to goblets. "Calix Verto." She practiced as before, and then again with the wand movement. "Calix verto." This time, she had an a pretty simple goblet in hand but it definitely worked. No trace of her inkwell behind. Turning it upside down to inspect, except ........ a drop of ink fell from it onto the table? Uh okay, yea, not drinking from that, but otherwise it looked fine. Just needed to be washed, maybe. "Patella verto," she recited a few times, before once again adding the wand movement aimed at the divination textbook. It morphed into a plate, as to be expected .... but was that faint print on her plate? Holding it up to the light, she squinted at it and it set it back down. No, no, it was just her eyes playing tricks on her. And even if it wasn't, you could totally use a plate with a design on it. Even if the design happened to be an excerpt from Unfogging the Future.
Finally, the last one. Parchment to napkins. This was admittedly one of the ones that made the most sense since they were both made from paper. Well unless she attempted a cloth napkin and that was no specified, so Carsyn would make whatever she could. "Mappa Verto. Mappa Verto." And again with the wand movement. And there she had it, a fully useable napkin, which if it never was reverted back, she could use it to take notes too.
Transfiguring invertebrates? Well that actually sounded like a better use of snails than ingesting them, so finally you were making some sense, Professor. Jotting down her homework - on the napkin - she slipped her transfigured and half-transfigured objects into her sack and gave a nod at the professor, "Bye then. See you next time." And she was out of there.
