| | Pit of Slugs One of the less travelled corridors will eventually take you to perhaps the least popular place located in the dungeons. Looking forward, it appears that there is a flight of stairs at the end of the corridor. Indeed, there is. But as you get closer, you realize that there is a bit of an obstacle in your way. A small set of stairs leads you downward into a pit full of slugs, big and small. By the looks of it, this nasty infestation has been here for a very long time.
At this point, there are really only two options for you to choose from: either turn around and head back down the way you came or make friends with the sluggish residents of the pit and walk through the thick slime to get to the staircase beyond. Should you decide to do the latter, tread carefully unless you want to find yourself covered from head to toe in the lime green goo that covers the stone floor or adopt a number of slugs as hair accessories. On the plus side, at least you now know where to find an endless supply of slugs should you need them for Potions class.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Albertine Radosevich First Year | This is open :)
First the mysterious swamp, now this. Her muggle biology teacher would appreciate the flora within these castle walls. Pity Alba couldn't share. The first year wrinkled her nose at the writhing mass of slime, goo, and gunk before pulling a large piece of folded parchment from the pocket of her pale periwinkle cardigan.
In a swooping cursive-script combination, she marked this new finding on her admittedly...ahem... rough sketch of the castle. Quote:

Peering curiously down at the creatures, Alba finally noticed the staircase beyond them. Unfortunately the situation wasn't friendly to her outfit choices. She knew few spells only being a first year. She could neither magic the slime to the side (it probably was unwise to cast any magic near all these slugs without investigating further, anywho) or magic the slime from her clothes.
Slipping a smaller, less hearty piece of parchment from her pocket, Alba wondered how to explain the situation at hand to her mother Briony, who was more likely to have answers to a slug-related conundrum than her other mother Mileva. She thought it unlikely any other student would just stumble on by with answers to her plethora of questions, but she didn't want to leave yet, and so she sat on a carefully inspected stair (um, cold much?) and fished a quill from her bag.

| Swedishfish Girl! Madame Librarian! Jess's Soul Sister! Sweetest Swede! Ellie was on an exploration trip around the castle to really get her bearings right. She wanted to know where something was without needing to think or ask for directions. Having heard some ravenclaw boy’s talking a lot about a pit of slugs in the dungeons Ellie had decided that she wanted to go see it with her own eyes after having finished charms. Slugs we’re equally gross and fascinating in all their slimey and gooey masses.
Following the directions of a passing slytherin girl Ellie eventually found herself in a less travelled corridor, evident by the dust on the floor which basically meant that it wasn’t exactly the most popular spot in the dungeons. Going down a small set of stairs she could soon fasten her eyes on the real live looking slug pit where she saw numerous big and small slugs in varying colours and the green slime and goo then oozed out. Spotting a girl sitting on the bottom step of the stair Ellie approached her recognizing her as Alba from her house. “Hey Alba!” She called out happily. “Are you here to see the slugs too?"

Hogwarts RPG Name: Lola A. Second Year | Mischievous Niffler Alice was just heading down to the slug pit to collect a few slugs for a remedy she was making. Normally one might expect the potion professor (Noble) to be doing something like that, but she was very well versed in medicine (the kinds you can do without TOO much magic, that is) and had been making medicine for several months now. "Hello, girls," she said to the two little girls whom she saw sitting nearby the slugs - watching them. Neither girl seemed to be causing any mischief. "Slug watching?"
As she talked, a bottle with fungus was removed from her purse and opened. She laid it down at the edge of the slug pit. She smiled thinly at the girls without giving an explanation. Surely they would catch on. |

Surely they would catch on. Ellie leaned forward to get a better look at the slugs in the slimy green pit. It was odd why the Hogwarts castle even had a like this in the dungeons? Did it have a purpose or was it just too much trouble to remove it? Ellie turned to Alba beside unsure if the slightly younger girl had heard her earlier. "Do you like all creatures too like me? Even slugs?
She was thinking of using her wand to levitate up a slug to smell it when they we’re joined by Professor O’Hara. Not sure what to say Ellie nodded "Yes, we’re slug watching Professor O’Hara. Do you know professor why there is a slug pit here and nowhere else in the castle?" Ellie reasoned that Professor O’Hara might know since she taught history to them.
Watching their professor take out a vial of something equally slimy as the slugs in the pit Ellie looked on curiously as Professor O’Hara placed it near the slug edge. Did she want to catch a slug?

Watching their professor take out a vial of something equally slimy as the slugs in the pit Ellie looked on curiously as Professor O’Hara placed it near the slug edge. Did she want to catch a slug? Alice listened with polite curiosity (though her eyes were focused on the slugs) as Ellie asked the young Gryffindor if she liked all creatures. Presumably the answer was going to be 'yes.' Creatures of all sorts had a large fanbase among the students and professors at Hogwarts. Sometimes Alice thought this fondness went a bit too far, such as when everyone got mad at her for suggesting they kill the creatures who had eaten poor old Dolly.
One of the slugs was ever so slowly making its way towards her baited trap. Alice watched it with a slight glint in her eyes. Yes, go into the jar, she thought to herself. "Good question. These slugs have been here for as long as I can remember," Alice replied the curious slug watcher. "I think this is an ideal place for them situated as it is in this damp part of the dungeons."
The slug was now firmly inside the jar. Alice reached down and snatched it up off the ground. Screwing the cover back on, she held it towards Ellie. "Would you mind holding this for me please while I set another jar?" |
