Out of all of the paintings hanging on the walls of the basement corridor, the one depicting a silver fruitbowl is an easy favourite for some of those here at Hogwarts. While many may think that there is nothing special about this particular painting, those who are well-informed about its purpose know what lies beyond. Past this painting is where all of the food you stuff in your mouth three or more times a day is made.
If you're in the need of second breakfast, elevenses, or a mid-afternoon snack, then this is the place to be. If you are someone who knows this particular castle secret, you know those bananas and grapes aren't there just to make your mouth water and your stomach rumble. Simply reach out your hand and tickle the delicious-looking pear in the corner. After it has a squirming fit and laughs, it will transform into a green door-knob and grant you access to the grand Hogwarts kitchen where anything you desire can be whipped up in no time at all.

Despite knowing that the portrait was back, Kamryn still liked to wander down here and check every now and then.
Last year had been terrible without the kitchen! That place was her one solace, and to lose the portrait! It was awful. But here it was now.. intact and in place and ready to let her in to one of her favorite spots in the whole castle!
She just stood there for a moment. Looking up at the fruit bowl and grinning, probably like an idiot, but it was what it was really.
Now what was she going to make today? Cupcakes? Cakes? Pie?
She did owe someone an Apple pie. Maybe she would start on that?

Having finished dispensing her instructions to the house elves, Professor O'Hara went to her favorite spot in the kitchen: the fruit bowl. She had her own little fruit bowl in her office, but it was running low and she might as well get something here since she'd gone the distance. Plus, it was always good to know which students were developing healthful eating habits.
Young Sophia was here today, no surprise to O'Hara - who knew that this one liked fruit and would often come to the kitchen. "Hello, Ms. Keighley," she said cheerfully (though in her voice it sounded more brisk) as she herself grabbed a few pears. "I hope you are enjoying term so far."

Did Maeve bake? No, not at all but she was pretty good at EATING the food that her friends baked. Not to mention she had a verryyyy gooooodd friend who's common room was down this way and she hadn't seen her proper since the train, which meant only one thing - time to check on the best friend and make sure she was doing alright. Last thing she needed was Kamryn going into one of her spirals again.
Ohhhh all too easy to find her too.
"Kamryn!" She exclaimed upon seeing the fellow sixth year. Oh and the History of Magic Professor too? "Professor O'Hara," she nodded politely enough at, before turning back to Kam. "Please tell me you've left me some baked goods in there. I'm starved." She had no idea if Kamryn was leaving or going into the kitchen, but either way she really was hungry. Growing girl, she was.

Kam was just about ready to reach out and tickle the pear when she heard a voice and her hand paused halfway to the green fruit, it hovered in the air as she turned her head, her brunette ponytail swinging as she did so.
“Professor O’Hara!” She exclaimed softly as she dropped her hand to her side and gave the Professor a soft smile. Her blue eyes dropped a bit to the side after her greeting and she stepped back a bit. “Were you heading into the kitchen as well? ” She asked softly.
“I am.. of course, how about you?” was she going to tell a Professor about everything that had been bugging her? No.. of course she wasn’t! She was fine!
Always fine!
However Kamryn’s straight posture relaxed a little as she heard another voice, one very familiar and welcome. “Maeve!” She said happily as she touched her friends shoulder. “I was just heading in actually to bake some pie, but I think there should be some leftover cupcakes in there from yesterday. ” She said with a smile.
