| | Back Cars If you want to be the last to leave or want to hang with the more rowdy crowd, then the back passenger cars of the train are for you. Just like the other cars, a long corridor provides access to the many compartments, each labelled with a letter, available for you and your friends to hunker down in until the train has come to a complete stop. Cushioned seats and large windows, allowing perfect views of the British scenery on your journey, await.
Well, what are you waiting for? Slide open a compartment door and make yourself at home. Place any of your belongings not in the luggage car on the racks above you. Chat with your friends about what your summer plans, enjoy munching on the snacks you bought from the trolley lady, get ahead of the game by exchanging addresses, or take a long nap as the train travels over numerous hills and mountainsides. Whatever you do, exhibit your best behaviour -- the prefects will be regularly patrolling the corridors and poking their heads inside your compartment to make sure you are doing so.

| Lovely™ | Captain Hurted | Ariana's Bane | Resident Antagonist | Unparalleled Delight Finally, finally, it was time to go. After the last few weeks of trying desperately to avoid other people - which was infinitely more difficult in Hogsmeade than it would have been in the castle - Kaiser was frankly relieved to be on the Hogwarts Express. He would have slipped away earlier, in fact, had he not been somehow thwarted at every turn by people who seemed determined to keep him there. Healer Beryl had been particularly perceptive in that regard, and also her mothering vibes had felt kind of alien and, when he thought about how little he deserved that sort of thing, almost unbearable. Guilt, guilt, guilt.
But now Kaiser was finally getting away, and going back to Stemp House. He was still pretty despondent, but it wasn't because of the Hogwarts situation. The kids that had still not been recovered... that was sad, and really not looking good, but Kaiser's mind was elsewhere. Was that self-centred of him? Probably, but it was... a complicated situation. Still, he didn't feel much like talking about what was really going on, so if people thought he was upset because of everything to do with the mist, he wouldn't try to convince them otherwise.
Sitting in the corner of an otherwise empty compartment, Kaiser had his feet propped on the seat across from him, arms folded over his chest, and his forehead up against the window, staring blankly as the scenery rolled by. He could think of nothing but his plan to run away, what he was going to do when he managed it, where he would go, and how he would get there. At least when he focused on that, everything else faded into the background for a while.

| Unforgivably Cursed | adultescent In many ways, Gunnar was eager to be going home. There would be people he'd miss seeing on a regular basis of course, but he was already making plans to see them while he was home. And summer just felt promising.
Carrying his kneazle in one arm, the sixteen year old made his way to the back of the train, thinking it would be quieter. There were specific people he'd like to see on the ride home, but he stopped when he spotted Kaiser through the window of the nearest compartment. He wasn't sure if the other boy ever did sit his exams, despite his best effort to convince him. And he knew he was being kind of a pest to him lately, trying to keep tabs on Kaiser, but it was only because he was a concerned friend. "....mate? Mind if I sit?" He poked his head inside the compartment as he opened the door, slipping into German as he always did with him. But before he could allow the other boy to answer, Wolfgang jumped out of his arms and into the compartment, prompting the Slytherin to follow in after him even without an answer.

| Lovely™ | Captain Hurted | Ariana's Bane | Resident Antagonist | Unparalleled Delight As preoccupied as he was, Kaiser wasn't so deep in thought that he was unaware of his surroundings. Old habits, you know. As soon as he heard the door sliding open, he instinctively looked around to see who was there. Gunnar.
At the question, he hesitated. It wasn't that Kaiser didn't want Gunnar to sit with him. He did, actually, he really did. The honest truth of the matter was that he was craving company, a friend, a listening ear. But he just didn't want to inflict himself on anyone, and more than anything else he felt that he really didn't deserve any of those things. Then there was the fact that he was planning to do a disappearing act as soon as possible, and if he was reminded of exactly what he would be leaving behind, it would be all the more difficult to go. Not that that would actually stop him, as it was imperative that he leave, but still, it was best not to make it any worse.
But before Kaiser could think of what to say, Gunnar's kneazle had come right on in, and the Slytherin had followed. Kaiser forced a small smile, and leaned his head back against his seat. "That's okay," he replied, also in German, and as though the decision hadn't been taken out of both of their hands anyway. "I can't promise I'll be very good company." No real change there. Kaiser knew he'd been difficult to be around for the last few weeks, to the extent that he was surprised Gunnar even wanted to join him in the compartment.
