It's time for quidditch practice again and to build on team spirit, discuss what went right and wrong in the last quidditch game and most importantly, figure out how to win the next game and ultimately the Quidditch Cup.

Only thing you notice is that there are TWO captains present this time. Well what are you waiting for; Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw Captains, Bel Macindoe (Tegz) and Juniper Primeaux (SarcasticStrawberry) are here to guide you through this practice.

ooc: Welcome to a Duo Team Practice! This is for IC reference and fun but as part of the team, you should be participating, whether you are in a starting position or reserve. Please note that this is not the first IC practice of the term.

This thread will remain open until the 17th of February approx 7 pm EST

Sarah and Tegz will hold this IC practice and if you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to her or me via PM.

Juniper had been sitting up for the practice with Bel, not only would she be running through the practice with her team but the hufflepuffs too. That was kind of nerve racking and exciting. Although she and Bel had worked on the whole plan of today’s practice. The Ravenclaw charmed her broom to stand up on it’s own. She wouldn’t need it for a while anyway as they would be staying on the ground for the part of the practice.

Next to her was a pile of wearable weights. She might have already put a pair on her legs and ran a few sprints up and down the pitch already while she waited on both of the teams to show up. On her other side was a stack of bats placed perfectly together so that if you would take one from the middle the whole tower of bats would tumble down.

”I think we’re ready now don’t you?” She said to the Hufflepuff Captain as she took off the wearable weights from her ankles. She was as ready as she was ever going to be. And yes she really was excited about the joint practice. She just wasn’t used to having two teams to watch over in a practice. At least she had Bel there, and she was like the ultimate athlete.

Joint practice? This was going to be interesting. Carrying her Nimbus on her back, Nettie headed down to the pitch, frowning a bit at the cold weather. Quidditch was never as fun in the winter as it was in the warmer weather, but she knew once they got going, she'd warm up a bit.

"Hey Juni," she greeted her captain with a smile as she approached. She also gave a nod to the Hufflepuff captain, whose name totally escaped her at the moment. She eyed the weights next to Juni with interest. Wonder what that was all about...

"Ready as we're gonna be!" Bel agreed cheerfully with Juni. She had weights on her ankles and her wrists, and another wrapped around her waist. Her broom was currently to one side, instead she had a beater's bat in hand, which she was cheerfully balancing on its end every now and then. Behind her the equipment chests were banging from the inside - the bludgers within clearly were eager to get out. Bel put her foot on top of one of the chests and watched as the teams started to assemble - one of Juni's players first. This was gonna be fun. And maybe challenging. Both good things in Bel's eyes!

Taddy arrived as he carried his broom to the pitch with the bat in the other hand. He was intrigued with how this practice will go with them practicing with the Hufflepuff team, but it seemed like fun. "Hi everyone." The thirteen year-old chirped.

It was pretty chilly out, but that wasn't going to stop him. He did also notice the weights. Say.. he was having certain thoughts now regarding the scene.

Arriving on the Quidditch pitch, Hanna saw not only Juni but Bel too. She had her broom over one shoulder, and her Quidditch outfit on, and was excited to fly.

"Hey Juni, hi everyone," she greeted the group as she approached. She gently placed the broom down and started doing some star jumps before moving on to stretch her arms, legs, and trunk.

What was going on? They were practicing with Hufflepuff and that confused Chloe. She had many emotions about this because it would have been fun if they were practicing with her brother, but practicing with the Puffs meant she was going to be with their seeker, their captain seeker, their very good, very awesome seeker. This made Chloe super nervous in a kneel to the ground and saying we aren't worthy type of nervous.

She pushed it away though as she headed on the pitch, "Hey all!" giving a wave and then seeing the puff captain with the weights. "Ah, you should be careful with weights around your ankle, I read that it could be bad for your knees to wear to much weight, especially if it isn't fully secure and moves a bit." She had the fitness book in her room if they wanted it, but enough of the book, what were they doing today that needed those weights?

Derf. Was. STOKED.

Granted, the Head Boy was always ready for any opportunity to mount his broom and fly around...but this was exciting. A joint practice? Yes please! In fact, Derf would be down for an all house team match or something before term ended. You know. Everyone just put their names in a hat and then maybe draw for positions just for amusement. Some being out of their comfort zones and everything. Just some good ol' light hearted fun since quidditch could bring out the competitive side of things and all.

But anyway. JOINT QUIDDITCH PRACTICE!

Bolting down to the pitch with his broom, Derf approached the group with a wide grin and over all chipper persona. "Really looking forward to this," he nodded, rubbing his hands together. But said rubbing soon turned to some persistent scratching on the back of his hand...and then his elbow...and then the back of his neck.

Apparently washing his pillow case and sheets had not fixed that problem.

Jackson was pretty excited to see what the double practice would bring. Perhaps a scrimmage?? Ooh! Wouldn't it be fun if they all tried out different positions?? He looked out at the pitch as he got closer and smiled at everyone. "Hey Juni!" he greeted the Ravenclaw captain before seeing Bel with her weights on. Maybe no scrimmage? "Hey Bel!" before going to the other players, offering hellos to them as well.

"G'day you guys!" Bel greeted everyone as they came. She shot Chloe a cheerful grin. "Yep, you're right. Gotta be careful with all exercise equipment, weights included." She lifted her foot and gave it a shake, showing that the weight was secure on her ankle and not sliding at all. And what was with Derfael's scratching?? Bel swung the beaters bat a few times and looked towards Juni. About ready to start, weren't they?

”Hi everyone!” Greeting everyone as the arrived. She took a look around. She supposed that now was as good as ever a time to start the practice. ”Yes just like Chloe had mentioned about the safety of using equipment. You have to make sure it’s safe to use before you use it.” She gave Chloe a little grin and nod of approval. Then catching sight of Bel she nodded again to her. They should get started now yeah?

”Alright everyone we just going to jump into the practice. It’s going to be a little different kind of practice. But fun and helpful.” She was excited about it. ”If everyone will grab a set of weights and get them on your ankles and on your wrist. Or it's completely optional to have one around your waist like Bel does.” To give them time to get used to them. ”After you get them on make sure they are tight but comfortable. Walk around and get use to them and take a few sprints around and we’ll move on.” She grabbed a set for herself and put them on her. Walked around with them on, she didn’t need much to get used to them again.

Did Amelia trust her captains? Absolutely. But that didn't mean she didn't want to be outside on the pitch just scoping out prospective quidditch stars. Especially had her eyes on the Ravenclaws given that Juniper was graduating, but there was no harm in observing all the players.

So no, Amelia would not be doing those weight exercises but she did a casual nod at Juni and Bel as she settled into a spot on the outskirts. And yes she could have observed from the stands, but as flying instructor, being on the actual pitch felt more comfortable and natural to the redhead.

Valencia eyed the two captains curiously. Weights? Sprints? They were going to be training their on the ground muscles? Was that normal? She didn't know.

She was still getting used to practice not with the Hufflepuffs.

But the little Ravenclaw was a good listener so she did what she was told, minus the waist one.

So, the weights Bel was sporting weren't just for her. They were for all of them. Huh. Well, Hanna was always down to get stronger and this was certainly one way. Especially because it had the perk of getting her stronger for Quidditch, whilst Quidditching.

She saw Bel's demonstration of her foot shaking, that the weights were firmly attached. And that seemed to be how they should be fitted. She got weights for her ankles first, attaching them and readjusting them enough so that they were both comfortable and secure. And then she fitted the wrist weights which were a little awkward to put on, but comfortable and secure once on. Deciding to forego the waist weight for now, she was ready. Following Juni's instructions Hanna took a little walk around, and did a few little hops and jogs to get used to the feeling of being weighted down. It wasn't too uncomfortable, but it was a foreign feeling. She did a little walk past Professor Adara and gave her a wave.

Words didn't exist to describe the excitement Aaron had been feeling all week leading up to this monumental EVENT!! He was going to be Captained by TWO of his FAVORITE PEOPLE.... Was he floating?! Because he honestly didn't recall walking to the pitch... He was just.... suddenly THERE... surrounded by Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw players. This was REALLY happening.

There were stars (and hearts) in his eyes, the Fifth Year was positive.

Hi Juni. Hi Bell.

Taking a few measured breaths, to steady himself, Aaron discarded his broom and bat (grabbing those two items had to be muscle memory or something) and went to inspect the equipment. Weight training... Important to Beaters... So, sure. He was with this. Flopping down on the ground, the Hufflepuff grabbed two of the weights and began strapping them to his ankles. After getting those secured, he picked two more.

"Is this right?" Aaron was sure he had everything strapped up the right way, but... He'd been dreaming about a quidditch-related injury and it was better for him not to take chances.

This was all exciting, it was cold, but Chloe loved being there. She could hear her mom about how the Claws and Puffs got along well and yes, look at them, they were. Everyone was coming now and even the professor, HELLO PROFESSOR! Chloe gave her a wave before turning her attention back on the others. Seeing Derf and the Botros boy her eyes followed them and she waved, but soon she found herself standing next to Hannah.

Giving Bel a big smile and Juni as they said she was right Chloe couldn't help but feel good about that. Reading was good for so many things and she was glad at that moment that she picked up that book.

Now they were to put on the weights though and Chloe wondered how much they each weighed. She was glad she was pretty strong for her short frame and picked up the ankle weights. Securing them she added her wrist ones and moved around to get used to them.

"Anyone want to get warmed up with me, do a lap around?"

Juniper grabbed up another set of weights and put them on her ankles, wrist and waist. She made sure that it all was on appropriately. She stretched and looked around to see if anyone needed help with anything. Movement of someone new approaching the pitch, to her surprise (or was it really?) Professor Adara was heading down the pitch.

WE SEE YOU PROFESSOR, We see you.

Even though she didn’t acknowledge the professors presences. She would speak if spoken too. She was just here to observe and if there was a problem surely the professor would have acted more urgently. No problems here then?

Turning to check on Aarron. ”Everything looks good.” She said with a smile. Then she .looked up at Chloe. ”I’ll take a lap with you Chl.” It probably wouldn’t hurt to run off some of this extra energy before getting into the fun stuff.

After taking a lap around the pitch with Chloe, Juni came back to the group and was ready to start the exercise. Heading over to the stack of bats she picked one up. ”Right guys. Next thing we are going to do is taking a bat and hit some bludgers. Everyone grab a bat and get in line to wait for your turn to hit a bludger.” She waited for a moment for them to grab a bat.

”Now since we are on the ground you have a slightly better advantage with your batting stance.” She stepped up to the where the bludgers would appear and wait for one to come her way. Seeing one heading her way she raised her bat up and ready to take a swing. When the bludger came passed she connected with it and watched it zoom to the other side of the pitch. ”Now you might think that this exercise is only good for beaters. But this works all of your muscles. The ones you use for catching and throwing the quaffle, and the ones you use to reach out and catch the golden snitch. Plus it works your core muscles and strengthens your arms…. And legs. It’s good for in season exercises and off season.” She looked over at Bel to see if she wanted to add anything else before the let them lose. If not. ”Let’s get to it then.” Stepping aside to let the next person have a go.

Bel for her part had let the bludgers free from the equipment chests, trying to time it appropriately for Juni's instructions. She had a bat already of course. Heyyy maybe Aaron and Derfael would show off why they were her A team when it came to beater skills? Bel grinned good-naturedly. She was proud of them!

And she was gonna get some work in too, for the record. Batter UP! You definitely had to work harder and judge things a little differently when you had weights on! She sent a bludger flying, feeling the judder of the impact go up her arms. Satisfying, really!

Even though Chloe was a third year she still felt the nerves jump up when the super pretty older girls knew she was in the room or well pitch for this moment. "Okay!" She beamed before taking her lap around with THE CAPTAIN!

Once they were back Chloe listened to the next set of directions and even gulped a little when she saw Bel letting the bludgers go. She wasn't afraid of them, no she was hit enough to know what to do around them, but she wasn't the best batter so picking up the bat she was a bit nervous. She gripped it tight though and started to swing.

Nettie was a bit reluctant about these weights. The ankle ones didn't bother her too much, but the wrist ones? Her wrists were TINY. They were liable to snap with all these weights on there! So she grabbed the smallest ones for her wrists, which STILL felt super heavy, and then placed the larger ones on her ankles. From all that RUNNING last term, she actually had a good lower body when it came to muscle definition. Now for the waist...this was weird. She felt like she was putting on a giant belt.

Once she was all geared up and ready to go, she grabbed a beater's bat. She probably looked ridiculous right now, but they obviously had SOME reasoning behind doing this. Smiling a bit, because she was sure she looked super silly, she got in to position. It WAS nice to be on the ground right now.

She waved her bat for a few minutes to get warmed up before stepping up to the plate (metaphorically of course) and got in position. She waited until a bludger came at her, and WHAM! She took a swing. It was a bit harder than normal, thanks to the weights, so it didn't go as far as it would have normally.

It was tougher with the weights, Bel knew, but she watched carefully as the players went ham on the bludgers, ready to step in just in case anyone didn't quite get the bat swung around in time - easy to misjudge when you had to put more strength behind it. Case in point, she stepped in and smacked a bludger that was coming at one of her Hufflepuffs that they hadn't quite turned to face.

"Alright everyone! You can keep hitting them from the ground if you prefer, or if you're ready to get in the air, lets do that now! If you're not a beater, ditch your bat, we wanna see how you adjust to flying with the weights!" It would slow them down for sure, "And that means dodging the bludgers, so look alive!"

She pointed. "Fly as fast as you can down to the hoops at the other end of the pitch, loop through 'em, then fly back and loop through these ones. Three laps! Lets go!" Bel mounted her own broom and kept hold of one of the bats, just in case she needed to help keep the extra bludgers at bay.

ooc: Keeping weights on, your charrie can mount their brooms now. They get to pick if they're going to keep smacking bludgers or if you want them to dodge instead, but either way they should be flying as fast as they can down to the other end of the pitch and back three times, looping through the goal hoops each time.

He wondered how the Hufflepuff’s tryouts had been. He waited his turn by playing with the bat. Yes, this was definitely different with the weights on. When it was his turn, Jackson had gotten a bit more used to the difference. He nodded at his captain, who was making complete sense to him because they could all use some arm strength.

Valencia stopped running and picked up a bat. Staying in line until it was her turn. She swung and made contact with the bludger. After so much practice, she felt like she was getting the hang out of it.

She dropped her bat and grabbed a broom when instructed. She figured it was better to train in the air given she was an alternate. The chances of Cap missing a game were small.

She kicked off, doing as best she could to fly with the weights, and began doing laps.

"Oi, Jackson!" Bel snapped her fingers a few times in the prefect's direction. It was impossible that he didn't hear her instructions, Bel knew how to make her voice carry but he hadn't even looked her way when she spoke, let alone done what she asked. Was his mind elsewhere? It was rude not to acknowledge her instructions whatsoever, she reckoned, and she wasn't gonna take that. He might've had authority off the pitch, but on it? Respect please!

"Pay attention, yeah? Are you gonna challenge yourself by getting airborne with everyone else?" If Ravenclaw wanted to win their next match he should be putting a lot more into this! His younger teammates were putting the prefect to shame just on pure enthusiasm alone.

Meanwhile, "Good job, Valencia! Try and get as much speed as you can even with the weights!" Bel called out to the Ravenclaw first year.

It was time to get in the air and Chloe didn't have to be asked twice. She put down the bat nicely and hurried to her broom. Picking it up and getting on she pushed off the ground. Though she was a bit off balance with the weights. Flying low to the ground she moved around the pitch trying to get used to the extra weights. Her legs felt a little wobbly and her wrist were starting to feel tired, but she gripped her broom and figured out a good way to not fall.

Moving higher in the air she flew around and watched carefully as bludgers went zooming past. Soon seeing one she dodged it by ducking down lower. The weights pulling her down more than she thought Chloe had to quickly pull up so not to hit the ground. "Wow this is hard."

She was still smiling though, because sometimes hard was fun.
