| | DADA Lesson 2 - TRrRRRooOOLLLllLLl in the DuuuNGeons It's not quite as early a lesson as you'd usually have with the Headmaster but it's before lunch. Hopefully that breakfast fuel hasn't worn off by now because with two hours to go--one of them to be spent here--Trent will be expecting you all at your best. Did you refresh yourself on the rules? Do you have anything ELSE that's gone wrong around the castle you feel he NEEDS to know about? Feel free not to wait til he's back and comfy in his office. No really, better to rip the bandaid off now.
Approaching the door to classroom 104, you'll notice a note that says the location of today's lesson has been changed to the dueling arena. Pick up your step, this notice doesn't make being late suddenly acceptable.
Over in the dueling arena, Malachi stands before a table stacked with clubs. Over and over he counts them, SURE he'd had enough but now there seemed to be at least three missing.
Circe sake. Was there anything not missing???
He appears only slightly agitated as you make your way into the room but will stop to greet you should you remember your manners and greet him first. This far into the term, he's already explained that while he isn't Scrimgeour, he does expect some form of acknowledgement when coming to his lesson.
The dueling arena is bare. All the dummies have been moved to the spare room leaving only the carpet beneath them and this table filled with clubs. Did you do the necessary readings? Have you practiced the spells for homework? They'd come in handy today. OOC: Welcome back to Defense Against the Dark Arts!! Don't forget to read the classroom rules before posting. I'll have the first question up in 24 hours
The lesson hasn't started yet. CLASS HAS BEGUN! Class progression: Greetings and First Question Mini-Activity Second Question Main Activity |

| Yeah I broke that mirror, so what? ll NOT backward ll Official Gryfferin ll Lemon's favourite The troll registered the small bodies about the room and got its club ready. It grunted again and again, getting ready to charge when it felt a "bop" to the head....more than a bop. It actually hurt and ENRAGED the troll who immediately swung its large club toward the girl (Vita).
And ANOTHER hit, this one from the other direction (Dorian). With a loud shout, the troll clumsily turned on his heels headed directly for the boy. The ground shook beneath it with every heavy stomp of its enormous feet. That unwittingly put it in a tricky situation.
It didn't notice it had become moderately surrounded until the blow from the boy (Patrick) then the girl (Zoryn) closing it off. This angered the troll even further and though it was beginning to feel light headed, it took a hard turn to face the boy. Again, it swung it's large club and rushed forward. BAM, one from the rear (Nettie). It didn't stop. With all the determination in the world, it began swinging violently at the Slytherin Captain.
It was just about to drive the boy into the ground when BAM. The last two spells that hit at the same time (Hanna and Archer) were more than it could handle. The spells had accumulated and this troll had hit its limit. Lacking any sort of grace, the troll toppled to the ground but it didn't disappear. It simply remained slumped over. Confused? Best get over it because just as it fell, another troll came grunting and roaring out the door. It wasted no time putting it's club to good use, already taking a hard swing at the closest, the one who'd kept moving (Vita).
Spotting its fallen brother, it grabbed the extra club and began to spin and swing and swing and spin chaotically.

| elephant-astic•wanderlust•stay in the ninedaaays the original Taco Belle•look at the flowers✿ Well, they'd certainly been right in their thinking that every whack to the troll was only making it more set on taking them out. The first one had nearly done it to her, its attempt at a blow causing her to yelp and dive to the floor. Even though somewhere in her mind she knew it wouldn't really hurt her, it was still enough to keep her frozen in place for a moment or two. Merlin, the headmaster really knew how to get their hearts racing, didn't he? Vita took a few deep breaths and pushed herself to her feet again, circling as her other classmates finished him off.
The arrival of the second troll caused the sixth year to stumble over her own feet in an attempt to get away. This one seemed even angrier, probably because the evidence of what they'd done was still sprawled out on the floor for all trolls to see. Was that the point? Distracted by the thought, and slowed down by her fear, she felt the hit from the troll's club. It managed to graze her shoulder, causing a chill as cold as ice to radiate down her arm, the force of it sending her back onto her bottom and scrambling to her feet once more. "Labefactum!"
And just as she felt okay again, the troll was windmilling not one, but two clubs. Suddenly defeating him didn't seem like such an easy task. "Careful of the clubs!" She called out, moving around again, trying her best to stay out of the way.

| doesn't proofread tweets | #wrongaboutcereal | #siriusly? | emo to the extremo Y'know, Zoryn didn't even try to hit the troll again. She was perfectly content standing here watching it have a go at Patrick. No offense, Patrick. But this was her favorite channel. Liked and subscribed.
It wasn't long before Patrick was unfortunately not-crushed. Not that she wanted him to die or anything, but it was only fair that he took one for the team. Wasn't like she was about to do it. Just sayin'.
A new troll appeared, this time ANGRIER than the first. And it was going towards that Vita girl. Again, Zoryn was fine with this. Ready, aim, "Labefactum," and also jumping out of the way of said clubs. Thank u, next.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Viv Awning First Year | Vivienne was shocked that someone had done their reading. Disproportionate? Too small or too big? A club? Thanks, Professor for that information. That will do me a large solid. Vivienne must have missed the scenario and activity. She thought: Trolls cannot apparate... Again the activity... Sticky situations. Vivienne had to pay more attention in class and stop falling asleep. Everyone who did the reading was right on par. Were they all Ravenclaws? She would have rolled too if there was a troll attacking her. But she would never right now try these stunts on a real troll. She was not Harry or Ron. Those were good defences. No real trolls. Yet. But distracting them with fish. That could be useful. She wrote that down in her notebook. She had practiced the Bludgeoning Hex constantly on her holidays. She then watched the side door. What.... a troll? She picked up her club and started clubbing trolls. |

| curly haired prefect - "sometimes I get angry!" - 30/90 - *chicken emoji* - probably @ Disney - I speak dog That...had been easier than she expected. They had basically ganged up on the troll and BOOM, down it had gone. Except it was immediately followed by yet ANOTHER troll, swinging its club like a crazy person.
Staying close to the older kids (because they were GREAT cover) she raised her wand in a circular motion and whipped it towards the troll once more. This actually wasn't that hard, once you got the hang of it..."Labefactum!" she called out again.
They got the last one, they could totally get this one too!

| Yeah I broke that mirror, so what? ll NOT backward ll Official Gryfferin ll Lemon's favourite The first spell (Vita) caused it to momentarily stop spinning but only long enough for it to figure out WHERE that spell had come from. It may have been dizzy but it turned its spinning in her direction...that is, until the second spell Zoryn derailed him entirely.
The troll swung at Vita just as it got hit, causing it to tilt forward dangerously. Couple more inches forward and it would have fallen directly atop the girl it now towered over. That’s when the third spell (Nettie) collided with the back of its head.
It grunted loudly and turned sharply. She was his newest target.
It stomped toward her, swinging one of its clubs in Zoryn’s direction before bringing them both down toward Nettie. It lifted and slammed them several times, attempting to clobber her entirely.
Not enough knocks had been received to bring this one down yet and it was plenty angry!

| A path is not simply for walking, its purpose lies in moving forward and improving oneself.
They had done it? They had actually defeated the first troll? That had been....easy.... Were all trolls that easy to defeat? If so than he was questioning the Ministry's classification of the creature.
That was until a second troll entered the arena and this one definitely looked angrier than the first one. Did it know that its comrade had fallen? Pfft he doubted it. He looked over as Vita, Zoryn and Nettie casted the spell but it didn't do much this time because the troll was still swinging its club wildly and next thing he saw it making its way towards Nettie.
The Ravenclaw used this opportunity to run along side the wall again and stopped when he got behind the troll. He raised his wand aimed at its's head and send another bludgeoning hex its way.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Viv Awning First Year | Vivienne was shocked that they had defeated the first troll. How? Vivienne agreed with Dorian. And the angry troll? Vivienne had it until control like the Auror she was made to be. She walked over to Nettie and said, "Hold on! Stupefy!" Then she distracted him. |

| doesn't proofread tweets | #wrongaboutcereal | #siriusly? | emo to the extremo EEEeeeee! Zoryn let out a squeal as she jumped out of the troll's way. Yes, take Nettie. She was irrelevant anyway. Zoryn, however, was on her way to fame very shortly soooooo. It was best this way, soz. Holding her wand up to Anna's ugly cousin, the Gryffindor paused a moment before sending another spell it's way. "Labefactum!!!"
Okay, this was kind of getting boring. Could they chase the baby trolls around the classroom again?

Patrick watched as it picked up a second club oh boy he did not like the looks of this. He watched as the other students were working hard to get rid of the troll he was trying to figure out when the best time to strike was.
well now he had no choice. As much as Zoryn was wild and carefree about other people he really enjoyed her no nonsense and didn't want her to get hit with a club. "Labefactum!" He shouted at the troll that was headed straight toward Zoryn.

| Sarah thinks I'm cute | Shan's safe space. "Labefactum," Jó was trying to cast the spell as best he could, but he was out of breath from running away from the troll. Did he have to run away, and jump dramatically around as he dodged the creature? Yes - because he was running and jumping into its path.
Here to protect the people of Hogwarts with his sub-par spell casting! "Labefactum!" That one hit, he was sure of it! It had to have, right bang to the head.
The trolls head. Not anyone elses.

| Yeah I broke that mirror, so what? ll NOT backward ll Official Gryfferin ll Lemon's favourite Spells were really starting to fly, weren’t they? The troll staggered at the hit from the boy (Dorian) and again at the one shot by the girl who’d managed to avoid him (Zoryn). The stupefy cast by the young girl (Vivienne), however, had no effect, as the Head Girl had explained earlier in the lesson. Perhaps someone should’ve been paying better attention. All she did was earn herself a hard swing from the troll’s club—the left one—while the right took aim at the latest to join the casting (Patrick). Josef’s spell might have worked and could have been THE one to bring the large creature down but then...
Stomp. STOMP. STOMP!Stompstompstompstomp.
Another troll came barrelling into the room at full speed, accidentally running into the Gryffindor boy’s spell. It wound around and smashed in his direction sharply.
Two trolls and three clubs. What could possibly go wrong. That...that was potentially a problem. Malachi’s brows rose slightly as he watched the third troll bust into the arena without warning. It...wasn’t planned...but with how well the students were managing so far, he decided he’d watch and wait before intervening.
Real life was unpredictable. Might as well see what the students were capable of.

Vita was not about this troll fighting life. When the third one joined the little party they had going on, the sixth year decided to stay still and stay quiet, waiting for the moment either was distracted by her classmates to aim at their heads, one then the other. "Labefactum!...Labefactum!" As soon as the incantation had left her mouth the second time, she was moving, knowing they'd be turning their attention in the direction the blows had come from. They weren't smart, right? Might as well try and take advantage of that. Merlin knew she wasn't trying to be crushed during class. Maverick would be so mad at her.

There were two trolls now.
Hanna blinked and swallowed hard. Now not only did they have to work together to defeat trolls, they had to work together to defeat TWO trolls.
TWO!
Well, there was really only one thing Hanna wanted to do. Two, if running away and hiding was an option, but this young Ravenclaw didn't want to declare defeat. Also, she wanted to help her classmates, as much as a fourth year could, anyway.
Facing off one of the trolls, from a safe, safe distance, she raised her wand up again, looking up at the troll and trying to aim it around his face. "Labefactum! Labefactum! Labefactum!" she cried out rather loudly. With her wand, performing the clockwise circular motion with her hand, and finishing it with a flick.

The 12 foot troll entered, and that’s when Jackson’s eyebrows went up. Holy moly that was different. Jackson hoped that this was the closest he would ever get to a troll again to be honest. He began the movement that he had indeed been practicing and moved in a clockwise motion. “Labefactum!” He watched as the troll seemed to get a little more discombobulated after each hit. “Labefactum!” he called again, heading Vita’s call about the clubs. He watched as the troll changed targets, and did his best to stay out of its eyesight.

| Yeah I broke that mirror, so what? ll NOT backward ll Official Gryfferin ll Lemon's favourite The arena was alight with spells, flashes here and there as everyone seemed to be working double time to take down double the amount of trolls they were originally expected to be handling. Where Malachi had first thought there was need for serious intervention, the Headmaster was now somewhat more relaxed. They were handling themselves.
Some seemed a bit out of it, not keeping up as well as others but overall, as a team, he was impressed.
Even more impressive, in all this chaos they still managed to take down one of the two trolls--the earlier that had received more hits. Malachi watched the large, imposing figure topple ungracefully to the ground, the other frantically swinging at them as if it could not be stopped....and it would not be. "TIIIMMMEEE!" He called. The glance down at his watch just now had told him it was nearing the end of the lesson and he wouldn't be the reason they were late for their next otherwise he'd have to yell at himself and that was .... just not something he'd woken up prepared to do this morning. "Time! Time! Yes, very good everyone--oh." With a flick of his wand, he vanished the troll, all of them in fact. The man had momentarily forgotten it was still swinging away at them. Wouldn't that have been a disaster if they'd lost concentration. Yikes. "Two out of three, not bad at all. I'm impressed you all managed to keep your heads even in the face of the unexpected. Unfortunately, that's still an essay from the lot of you." And he meant that "unfortunately" because he'd have to end up grading them all and may have been looking forward to not having to. "The details of the essay will be up on the noticeboard--provided I still have a noticeboard by the time I put it up. Otherwise I'll have your Heads of Houses pass along the information. You can all collect your things then you're dismissed." OOC: Aaaand that's a wrap everyone! Thanks for coming. I'll be leaving the lesson open til I get to work in the morning in case anyone wants to post their students leaving. The lesson is officially over <3
