As a matter of fact, Chloe was NOT feeling better, and she gave the Headmaster a skeptical look. Why was he even bringing it up? Chloe began to itch her arms again, which was annoying because she'd finally managed to forget about the itch. "No, sir, I don't need any potions. It's feeling much better." She scratched at her arms before pinning them hard against her chest in a sort of self hug. "Clubs, right? We can use clubs to open very hard to open pickle jars. And to reach that itchy spot on your back that you can't reach with just your hands." She retrieved a club and returned to her spot on the carpet, waiting for the rest of her classmates to prepare themselves for the next part of the lesson. Absently, Chloe gave the club a lick. Ew. Metallic. She licked it again. |

Hanna listened to the start of the lesson and did as instructed by getting herself a club. She pondered the question at hand. She listened to the answers around her and thought perhaps... well it might not work at all, but... that one story with the pink umbrella. She raised her hand. "If someone was so curious, could they incorporate their wand into the club, and turn the club into a magical device?" |
SPOILER!!: Replies "Moving on!" Away from certain people's thoughts of smacking others silly. He'd be a proper questionable Headmaster if he allowed that sort of thing, but he would allow some hitting...in a minute. "Based on the reading, I'm sure you're all aware that today's lesson will be on trolls. They usually have their own sorts of clubs and they vary in intelligence and type but we'll get into that in a minute." This wasn't the time for recap. That would come when it absolutely needed to just to keep it fresh in their minds. "Today, you all have your own clubs. You will use these to get rid of a little problem that we're about to have." With a flick of his wand, a side door within the dueling arena swung open and little trolls began marching...marching...hobbling...stumbling--they were moving and doing the best they could, okay?? They were making their way from the room in droves. "You'll have to use your clubs to hit them. Hit them as hard as you can. Don't hold back. No worries about hurting them, they're simply a manifestation of magic. Don't hit them hard enough and you'll see why they're a problem." They came equipped with their own clubs and while they didn't posses the same strength as a real troll, or the size being only knee high, those clubs did hurt a bit. Not enough to break bones, but just enough to make you not wanna get hit a second time if you were unfortunate enough the first time. "Begin." The trolls poured into the room, dull eyed and ready to begin swinging. Some where already swinging, some were picking their noses. The cluster of them moved toward the students with grunts. They were ready to whack and smack as was the nature put into them Were the students ready? OOC: Mini activity tiiiime! Like was mentioned, have your students swinging and smacking the mini-trolls. Imagine whack-a-mole but with moving targets that swing back and do hurt a bit. I'll post with little prompts for you guys to have trolls as often as I can and you all will have about 60 - 72 hrs to whack as many of them as you can. Or not. Whatever works for you and your charrie ^^ |
Okaaaaaay, that was a fair point. Safely and fortunately for Laila, it had worked. 'Well..I agree with you..it could have gone either way..luckily for her, he didn't notice her get up, so she sneaked behind him in the dark and hit him on the head, knocking him out,' she said, shrugging. Oh wow! What now? Trolls??? As she started attacking the lot with her club, one of them hit her on the back. 'OUCH!!!!,' she yelled, and she proceeded to hit that little one on the head with a club. DIIIINGG!!!!! She felt something on the top of her head. Uh-oh, she had got hit on the head. She felt everything blacking out.Her vision was blurring out. She fell to the floor with a loud thud. |
Daisy firmly gripped her club like a Beater's Bat and waited for the mini-trolls to advance towards her. Just as she was about to administer her first strike, she heard a loud thud near her and saw Laila, the young Ravenclaw lying on the floor. She rushed over to her but not before firmly whacking two trolls and ducking to miss another one. Daisy couldn't really do anything for Laila so she got back up and gave Headmaster Trent a concerned look. This lapse of concentration earned Daisy a whack on the leg which made her swing her club with anger. |
Holding the club behind his back, Dorian nodded his head as the Headmaster spoke. He agreed that his answer had been lacking. He also made a mental note to stay away from Zoryn during the lesson cause of her answer. He didn't doubt she would *accidentally* hit someone with a club under the pretense that she had been aiming at something else. It looked like the thing she would do in his mind so yup...he moved to the other side of the room. Unfortunately for him, the side that he had chosen happened to be the side where the Headmaster pulled open a door and he shrieked when the little trolls came rushing in. NOPE! The Ravenclaw changed direction and hastily walked to the back. Could he hide behind someone ....yes |
Was anyone else giggling? She looked around but didn't care if they were, those trolls made her giggle and she was going to giggle. Her hand was up at her mouth to try to muffle it though. They were kind of cute as well, but the third year was ready to hit them. She knew they weren't real so it wouldn't hurt and she had some third-year aggression she was ready to get out. When it was time to start she moved towards one and took a good wack at it. The magical object didn't seem to like it and took a swing, but she had jumped away in time. Wow did they seem real, but thankfully they weren't or Chloe probably would have been knocked out by one of their clubs. The club was different than a beaters bat, but still, she gripped it like she did in that tryout and went after her next one. This time trying to sneak up on it better. Tiptoeing behind it she raised her club and took another swing. |
Let's not hit any of our classmates today, no matter how deserving and how desperately we need them to be quiet or how undesirable their behaviour may be. Blah, blah, blah. Zoryn would make no promises. But there wasn't much time to dwell on what she would or would not do because no sooner had Trent finished his speech that Trolls began making their way around the dueling arena. And y'know what Zoryn had to say about all of this? "BRING. IT. ON!" Because here's the thing. Clubs? They were pretty much a beater's bat. And you know what Zoryn was? She was a beater. A pretty good one, at that. Very aggressive. Super abrasive. So this activity was right up her alley. The seventh year didn't waste a moments time before chasing after trolls and WHACKING them on the head as hard as her Quidditch strength allowed her to. TAKE THAT. She'd just pretend that they were all Anna Meriwether. Easy. |
It was official: This was the BEST LESSON EVERRRRRRR. Józef couldn't quite believe his luck. Whilst not a beater, he still enjoyed wacking a few bludgers in training and getting to hit little magically-created trolls as part of a lesson?! Well, his grudge against Headmaster Trent was starting to lessen. Just a little, though - he'd officially be annoyed until Gryffindor were top of the Quidditch table. Weighing the club in his hand for a moment before tightening his grip, Jó weaved through students toward the oncoming trolls. He was READY. And they were the perfect height for hitting on the head. "YES." He exclaimed the first time his bat made contact, followed soon by a very angry "OW!" as another trolls club smacked into his ankle. |
Wait, what? Vita felt her face grow hot. Of course she didn't know about using a club to break in from experience. "Sir, I wouldn't-it was only an example, I promise." As for the hourglasses, she had nothing to do with that, either. Yikes. Happy to do anything other than answer questions that gave the headmaster of all people the wrong idea about her, the sixth year raised her wooden club and headed towards the first couple little trolls she could reach. This was an excellent way to pass the time as far as she was concerned and she whacked at the first troll with all her might, following up with a sweeping hit towards the second. |

A small swarm appeared. He didn’t know how Parker managed to get hit in the head by something up to her knee and unable to jump but somehow the First Year had and somehow she was now on the floor with trolls gathering round. Malachi grimaced at the sight, unsure what aspect he was more unimpressed with considering the trolls didn’t hit nearly hard enough to knock a person unconscious—but she was on the ground and in for quite the knocking about if she stayed there so grabbing his own club, the man gave each troll that appeared a firm whack to the head. Each disappeared with a poof. The Headmaster got down on one knee and nudged the girl firmly but carefully. “On your feet, Parker. Come on, shake it off.” Did she have some pre-existing head condition? That would’ve been nice to have on file somewhere. It was the only explanation. These trolls didn’t have the capacity to knock a person out—or the height for that matter. Bruised knees were a more present danger. Either way, there were more trolls coming so she needed to regain her footing and get her club ready. Quote:
This troll had barely swung his club when the knock from the Hufflepuff’s club caused it to disappear into a puff on smoke. It’s like it was never there. She shouldn’t get comfortable though, three more headed her way, each violently waving their bats about. Quote:
Whatchu gonna do, son? Quote:
Did she notice the one sneaking up behind her while she was sneaking up behind its friend? It very much existed and very much swung at the back of her legs. Quote:
OKAY! The girl’s yell had earned her the attention of quite a few trolls. Noises. Always go toward the noises. But this was weird. She was chasing THEM! Two poofed into clouds of smoke under the swing of her club but they wouldn’t surrender! They could not surrender! Three trolls ran at her head on, each swinging wildly while they did. This was waaarrr! Quote:
Quote:
The troll disappeared with a poof but the second caught on in a split second and raised its own club to defend it. Bouncing from impact, it slammed its club by her feet, hoping to get at least one of them. The third jumped to action too, swinging wildly in her direction. This was for having no respect for the boogers! |
Of course it was a hectic class why wouldn’t it be? Every time Patrick stepped foot in this classroom they were either running down a lake or they were chasing trolls he was so ready to not have a “hectic” class. Sighing he moved further in the room after taking a few deep breaths to calm his breathing. He would have contributed to the answers on using a club but all of his thoughts were muggle based and he was fairly certain that he wouldn’t have to strike invaders any time soon. Instead he listened to the other students answers. Once he heard what they were doing he felt his day go straight down the drain. Now he would have to hit trolls. At least he knew he could connect. But he was slightly worried he might hurt them. Taking a deep breath he grabbed the club like he would a baseball bat. Raising it up he watched as the “mini trolls” entered the room and began to take swings at the ones coming near him. He made contact with two and felt a small smile grace his face at his success. |

They would be using the clubs like hammers? Chase paused, tilting his head to the left a little wondering what he had meant. He stayed silent instead of asking another question. Yes, trolls was the subject. Interesting. And then the Headmaster explained that they would be using the clubs against the tiny trolls that were moving rather roughly throughout the classroom. Chase gripped the club in his hand a little tighter before loosening his grip a little as if he was holding a baseball bat. He took a few practice swings before waiting for a troll to come near him. As he waited, he glanced around him, searching for the nearest troll. AH. Gotcha! He thought as he swung his club towards the nearest charging troll. Then he readied himself for another attack. Must. Stay. Alert. |
Valencia chewed her lip and moved the club between her hands a little awkwardly. Um. Sorry. What? She was supposed to hit those creatures with a weapon. The first year was really uncomfortable with that. She continued chewing her lip. Really? Some of them were picking their nose. How much harm could that really cause? There was a silent meep when one approached her. She swung the bat tentatively toward the arm of the mini!troll. |

As the theory turned practical, Hanna jumped up in time to see the little trolls coming in. They appeared very uncoordinated, and almost humorous, if it weren't for them swinging their clubs around. Uncoordinated and small aside, it would obviously hurt to be struck by one. Still holding onto the club she had picked up, she stood and looked around her. There were lots of the little buggers. She had her bat resting on her shoulder as she headed towards one of them. Swinging the bat, she took a cracking swing at it to bop it. Beating practice, though she wasn't a beater, was dead useful. |
The question of uses for a club hadn’t been lost on Stasya, but she’d stayed quiet nonetheless. Besides using it as a sort of base for a torch, she honestly didn’t see herself using a club in any way at all. Even if she did collect one when they’d been instructed to, and of course she’d done the reading for the lesson. She might’ve been curled up in Cygnus’ stall at the time, but she’d done it. She completely understood the troll connection too. Trolls used clubs, but then usually they were a lot larger than even someone her height so the lesson had to be mostly hypothetical. Or it involved mini!trolls, which she nearly found adorable. Minus the little clubs that obviously were meant to hurt them. The announcement that they were manifestations of magic hardly surprised her either. It was like the fake!hinkypunks, which were way different from them being forced to face actual real life red caps. In a way, she was reminded of Professor Hirsch’s lessons, aside from the fact they weren’t using magic against the magic!mini!trolls. All she had to do was remind herself that they weren’t really creatures. Or she could pretend they were either grindylows or inferi, which, actually, worked really well on a psychological defensive standpoint. If anything, she was prepared when she saw the first small club swinging at her shin, and she swept her club around to try to whack the offending mini!troll away. Troll!cricket maybe? |
Quote:
In the middle of its constant swinging, it waved its club gesturing for others to come to its aid for their fallen brother. Four trolls descended quickly, each with their club at the ready. Quote:
Not at all. The one to the left took a mighty swing at her shin just as the other tried to bring its club down on her foot. The one that disappeared was immediately replaced by another that came running in a goofy, fumbly fashion. It was ready! Quote:
He'd hit his friend, this was WAAARR. Much like the one over by the Slytherin Captain, this one waved its club to call in reinforcements. Clumsily, two others hobbled over. The one on the ground regained his footing, ready to begin again. Quote:
SMASH SMASH SMASH!! It kept swinging with no signs of stopping. Best give it a real swing because company was on the approach. Four more to be exact. Quote:
The ones that DID turn their attention to her came in with their clubs already swinging. Quote:
At the moment, however, he was the last of her concerns. All the rolling sent him into a pair of trolls who turned to her immediately. Both ran at her with clubs swinging, one taking aim at her knee when they got close enough. |
Quote:
However, she couldn't stop her foot from being hit by the other troll. Her eyes glistening with tears of pain and fury, Daisy let the troll know just exactly how upset she was by whacking the troll on the head. Now for the third troll. Daisy was getting a bit puffed and sweaty but she wasn't going to be beaten. She faced the troll and swung hard making contact with its' torso. |
Quote:
She saw the third troll coming, but the sixth year was prepared, raising her club overhead and waiting until it was close to take a swing. This was kind of theraputic in a way, did the headmaster know? |
The fifth year couldn't help wrinkling her nose at the little creatures. Honestly, would there ever be a day she came to this class and didn't feel so uneasy? ... Well, no probably not, considering when it came to fights or threats she'd learn she was a very flighty person and would rather just run away than try to cast a spell or fight anyone. She was a gentle hufflepuff who wished no ill will towards anyone, real or fake... And yeah, she was well aware she would probably die one day because of this. But turning her attention back to the nasty little trolls and took a step forward, seeing how the classmates who hung back seemed to be pestered even more by the things. Squaring one up that seemed to be a bit further from the swarm she went towards it and took a firm swing... And missed it completely... Why couldn't she even do this? |
Quote:
And the three trolls running her way were only amping up her enthusiasm, causing her to swing even HARDER at them. ONE. TWO. THREE. She'd whack them ALL!!!!!! The Gryffindor inched closer and closer to the center of the room, too. Trolls? She wanted ALL of them. Come to mama!!!!!!!! |
The booger made me laugh louder than it should have. lol Grinning Chloe couldn't help but be excited that she was able to get one. Now if she could get more that would be even better. She had no clue one was coming up behind her, but she was looking around in front of her when she saw one going at Vita. "VITA WATCH OUT!" They were allowed to help each other, right? She hoped so and went towards her older friend to try and help, but before she could take another step she felt the pain go up her leg. It wasn't a hard enough hit to break anything, but it still hurt. "OWWWWWWWWW" What the bloody.... "You little..." Turning on her heel she took a big swing at the troll that had hit her. She was swinging as hard as she could and she hoped she could send it flying through the air. |
Quote:
Spotting the four trolls coming his way, Dorian stopped running away and was about to spin around and whack them when his knee was hit. Gasping because that hurt! Dorian swung his club wildly without aim. Another hit against his shin made him stumble forward before he fell on his knees. He wasn't giving up though and even while he was on the ground the Ravenclaw swung his club at the trolls while getting back up on his feet. Could they stop now, please? T____T |
Quote:
"Oww!" she cried, looking at the offended trolls that were now ransacking her. "Leave me alone!" She took a swinging hit at as many of them as she could, aiming for their heads, and at some aiming at their legs. Put off there balance and all. |
