The Courtyard is where the students spend their time between lessons if they’re not in their Common Room or the Great Hall. Its architecture reveals the Courtyard to be one of the oldest parts of the castle. It connects the castle with the Grounds and also leads to the Wooden Bridge. In between classes, the Courtyard is usually filled with students enjoying some sun before heading back into the castle again. Whether you choose to occupy one of the many stone benches or enjoy a picnic in the warm lush grass, the Courtyard is the perfect place to relax with your friends from all houses.
In the middle of the Courtyard stands an antique ceramic fountain, perfect for admiring your own reflection or making wishes at. Be aware that once your coin has been tossed into the water, you may never get it back as it will continue to sink. Be careful not to fall in as an attempt of retrieving it, the staff does not usually fancy a swim in the fountain to fetch little students.

If Archer hadn't already been headed towards the courtyard, she certainly was after that announcement. Sounded almost ominous.
And indeed it was. "The Babou clones ate Professor Dopple?" Uh, weird. Also, made those little pink things a LOT less cute. Like a hundred percent less cute. She joined her fellow Hufflepuffs in line as their Head of House requested, totally forgetting about the itch on her arm, thanks to the shock. I mean, a professor had been EATEN. If that doesn't make you forget pretty much everything....
Then there was Dopple's (clueless) ghost, a not at all tactful Ravenclaw, and a Headmaster who looked about ready to jump out of his skin. "Um...one of those fuzzy pink creatures," she REFUSED to call them cute anymore, "made a meal of you, Professor Dopple." Could say awkward?

Ronan would certainly stick with Bel and all her old friends, whom he looked at with large round eyes. Seventh years. He couldn't imagine ever being a seventh year, and being old like Noel or Sunny and leaving and never coming back. He'd just gotten here! However, at the mention of the feast Ronan's expression went from mildly scared to horribly embarrassed, a deep red spreading from his ears all the way down to his face and neck. Pink creature? Perhaps. There had been...... other things at the feast he would like to forget.
Speaking of, where's Maxie?
Still keeping close to Bel, Ronan peered around the gathering of students, trying to find his dormmate. They might not be best friends or anything but he didn't want him to die! .. They still had quidditch to play!! He heard the headmaster start talking, but only zoned in a few minutes after. Missing things? Uh.. ......... wait. WHAT. The twelve year old froze as everyone started talking and there was a house elf and someone said something about killing and Noble was rounding them up and.. and..
Mary was crying! He'd only noticed because Noble said first years at the front and he'd had to give Bel and the others a sad wave goodbye. "They're gonna fix it," Ronan said to her, trying to be calming despite sounding less than certain about what 'it' is, and what the fixing actually entailed.
You know, until his favourite great great grandma DOPPLE APPEARED AS A GHOST. Ronan GASPED and grabbed Mary's hand, eyes as wide as saucers. SHE'S A GHOST SHE REALLY DIED THE PINK THING ATE HER FOR REAL IT WAS REAL ??????????????

Little pink creature?! Toddles' ears twitched excitedly because that MUST be a mention of his Fluffsies! Which was why the house elf was bounding forward more to tug on Mister Master Headmaster's robes. Situation? Why yes, Toddles DID have a situation and had HAD one since the start of term WHEN HIS FLUFFSIES HAD GONE MISSING! HE WAS DEARLY MISSING FLUFFSIES!
It seemed like an eternity before Mister Master Headmaster was finally giving Toddles any attention and his big elfsy eyes wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiidened with hope once more. "My Fluffsies! Fluffsies is soft like cotton...BETTER cotton that the cotton used in cushions and pillows at Hogwarts. The BEST cotton! And cute and pink like candy floss! Mister Master Headmaster knows where Toddles' Fluffsies is?!"
And maybe also where Cheeksies was too but Toddles was more worried about his Fluffsies.
Hope in his elfsy heart, Toddles turned suddenly when he heard Missus Mistress O'Hara yell at him.....AND CALL HIS FLUFFSIES FOUL NAMES! Not only that, but Missus Mistress O'Hara THREATENED to KILL Fluffsies.
No. NO. NO.
Toddles no okay with even the thought of that!
"YOU SHALL NOT HARM TODDLES' FLUFFSIES!" Toddles barked right back before LAUNCHING himself at the woman with his tiny elfsy body to tackle her with only the intent to maim or seriously injure.
Oh, how we drift away from our friends. And the ones back home play remember when
Daisy stood there agape as Toddles' voice echoed around the courtyard, followed by him launching himself at Professor O'Hara. After having seen Professor Dopple now appear as a ghost moments before, this Hufflepuff's mind was in a whirl. When fellow Hufflepuff Sixth-Year Archer had spoken to Dopple, Daisy's face was expressionless. She supposed it wasn't easy telling someone that they were now part of the spirit world.

Tessa's gaze passed right over a younger student (Mark) who was....chewing on the Head Boy's robes and landed on Toddles. So much was happening so quickly that the number of students who seemed have itches went largely unnoticed. She had been so focused on waiting for Eleanor, Soraya and Alfie to show up, which they soon did, but Toddles' shouting was hard to miss, even with the blanketed noise of confused students and professors alike. His Fluffies... Why did that sound so familiar???
His Fluffsies...the pink furry creatures....were they one and the same?
What did Headmaster Trent mean by 'a situation'??? That was...vague, wasn't it? What happened if they fed them or held them or whatever? Surely they needed to know that. To be prepared. Maybe they didn't, but Tessa wanted to know anyway. And 'dearly loved, dearly missed'??? That wasn't something you said unless........
It was at that moment that she heard Zoryn (VERY loudly) come to the same conclusion she had. That Professor Dopple was.....dead. She blinked. That was a very strange thing to try process, especially when it hadn't been confirmed. She wasn't close to Dopple by any means, she liked her alright - she was okay - but.....she was dead? That was.....something she didn't know how to process. And to make things worse, Professor O'Hara was addressing the Headmaster rather loudly and Tessa heard the phrases 'They all must DIE!' and 'ratface vermin', which seemed...a poor way to handle the situation. She exchanged a look with Soraya. This was madness. She clutched the hands of her boyfriend and little sister and kissed their cheeks before they went to join their Head of House.
Then, - just when she thought things couldn't get any more chaotic - she heard a voice. Dopple's voice. For a moment, she thought she had gone crazy, which, really, would be understandable in this situation, but no.....other people seemed to have heard it, too. She turned slowly and stared, bug eyed, at the GHOST of their Charms teacher. Professor Dopple was a ghost. An unexpected laugh escaped her lips. This was.... Wow. Wow. 'Has a Professor been injured?' Uh, yeah, you could say that. Shock made this situation...almost funny, but she still thought it even more shocking when students, seemingly unfazed, informed the DEAD PROFESSOR that she was, well, just that - dead. And they didn't do it kindly, either. 'You're a ghost' wasn't exactly the most sensitive thing to say to a person that didn't even realise that they were dead. Wow. And 'made a meal of'????? Who said things like that so casually?????
She was wrong again. Things could get even more chaotic. It seemed that Toddles had heard Professor O'Hara's rant about killing the creatures and was NOT happy about it. Tessa's head whipped around just in time to see the house elf FLING himself at the History of Magic professor, crying out that no harm would come to Fluffsies.
~ Mrs. Steve Harrington ~ It be like that sometimes.
A small gaggle of Ravenclaws like Hanna had followed her but she was relieved to see that many others were arriving. No doubt they had heard the announcement. Kay managed a small smile as some stopped to stand close by her or greeted her: Kaira, Dorian, Alice, Rylee, Kassandra, Stella, Joshua. “The Headmaster hasn’t briefed us as yet’’ was the reply each time someone asked what the issue was.
Blue eyes found Mark. “Mr. Gunter,’’ she began in astonishment. “What are you doing? Please stop chewing on the Head Boy’s robes at once.’’ It was all said calmly but there was a strong hint of sternness in her voice. Just as surprising was one of the House Elves turning up and demanding his fluffsies. Kaysha could do nothing but stare as she had not an inkling of what a ‘fuffsy’ was.
The woman had no time to be further puzzled or distracted, however. Trent was giving them instructions. Head count? She shot him a sharp look but did as was instructed. It was a great thing that this term she had spent a lot of her time in the Ravenclaw common room (and even out of the Room) getting to know her Ravenclaws. “All accounted for,’’ Kaysha confirmed, a worried gaze shifting back to Trent. Someone was missing. Why else had the Heads been asked to check on the kiddos? His other words were taken into consideration and Kay slowly started to piece things together. Was Trent getting at... was he saying that thing consumed someone? Cue her heart starting to race. Dolly?
A headache was starting to creep up on Kay as she tried to come to grips with all the revelations but naturally, she had to keep it together for the kiddos. Then there was Alice. Did Kay approve of her words at the moment? No, but Tristan was handling that. Focus on Trent again was interrupted by that familiar voice. She whipped around in the direction of the voice to do some more staring.
Dolly was a ghost.
Kay was lost in shock for a moment that she missed Toddles throwing himself at Alice.
Alice regarded her colleague (Tristian Wayland) with an icy stare as he berated her. At this moment she was tempted to scream all sorts of unpleasant insults, but she held herself in check. Instead she answered in as calm a voice (though the calmness was decidedly hostile) as his. "Respectfully, Professor Wayland, these creatures have killed a professor. Why should we care if they can't help themselves? Now that these RATFACES have a taste for human blood, what's to stop them from doing it again? I know you're a monster lover, but please don't let your love blind you from seeing what needs to be done."
But then the Headmaster came down on the side of Tristian. UGH! That man was so soft! "Meaning no disrespect, but headmaster, what if we are attacked? Can we use deadly force to defend ourselves and our students? You know I can't perform magic very well, so my options are limited if I am attacked." Of course now this was a backtrack from what she'd said earlier about hunting them all down to destroy them. Obviously she knew it wasn't smart to argue with the headmaster.
Speaking of self defense...
Normally she would have reacted with great surprise to see DOLLY show up as a ghost. That surprise would have to wait, for at that moment, Toddles flung himself unto her body in an all out attack.
"OOF!!!!" O'Hara grunted in surprise and anger, and immediately started swatting at the house elf. "GET OFF ME!!!! GET OFF, GET OFF!!! UNRULY MINION!!!!!!" She shoved him off her and retrearted backwards several steps, shaking in fury.
She pointed a shaking finger at the house elf. "That elf is out of control! Headmaster, what if he brought the creatures to Hogwarts knowing they were dangerous?!" If they weren't surrounded by the ENTIRE SCHOOL, she would have given him a hard kick. That might be going too far, though, and luckily she was able to restrain herself.

No one look, Ronan Wallace had also started crying. SHE DIED. She had been so kind and nice and marked his homework fairly and kind of reminded him of home sometimes even if she was the oldest person he'd ever met and and and nooooooooooooo.
As the Hufflepuffs shuffled into line, Mary tried in vain to stop crying. Hogwarts was nothing like home. She wanted her parents back, she wanted to play soccer again, she wanted her own bedroom, she wanted to talk to her mom, she just wanted the comforts of home!! The soccer ball was now at her feet, wet with tears.
Hearing Ronan's voice behind her was the last thing she wanted right now. He didn't even know what she was crying about. He actually thought it had to do with this situation. Did he even know what the situation was? Acting like he wasn't even there, she continued crying. Suddenly, he grabbed her hand and gasped. She wasn't too surprised by the ghost, just Ronans hand. Dolly Dopple was definitely crazy enough to do that.
Then Ronan himself burst out crying. Typical of him to cry over a professor he probably barely even knew. She turned away from him and cried into her shoulder. She didn't want the hyper boy trying to help her. "Stop," she murmured.
She looked up at Cam when she heard his voice and shook her head. "No idea. I don't think its inferi this time though."
Thankfully.
No inferi.
Well that was a relief. Probably. No, definitely. He couldn't think of anything worse than that inferi invasion two years ago. They'd been through A LOT at Hogwarts but that had just been...out of this world.
Before he got the chance to reply, however, his attention was caught by one of the house elves who was VERY LOUDLY looking for someone. His fluffsies. Whatever that was. Honestly, right now, Cameron had different things to worry about. Like making sure Liam was here. His sister was alright, at least.

The Headmaster nodded to his staff and the students when they arrived and greeted him, still just a tad too shaken up to produce any words of substance in the moment despite his outwardly calm expression. It was the deep but subtle breaths he was taking that made things marginally better for him and by the time what he thought was the last of the students had begun rolling in, he felt he was in a better position to begin.
"Heads of Houses, I'd like you to do a head count, make sure we haven't lost anyone. Students, take your own little look around. If there's anyone who should be here who isn't, let someone know immediately." If said people were still alive but willingly absent, they would have additional worries but this was no time for that line of thinking. They had a situation.
"As many of you are aware, there have been things missing around the castle and things seemingly gnawed through. As far too many of you also seem to be aware, there has also been a little pink creature that's apparently been getting very chummy. Do not, let me repeat, DO NOT feed that thing. Stop if you already have. Don't cuddle it. Don't try to keep it. Do not go near it. When you see it, go the other way. We currently have a.....situation..." Yes, Dolly was quite the situation. She was here ten minutes ago and now she most certainly was not. "regarding our dearly loved...and sure to be dearly missed, Charms Professor." Did...did they get the gist of where this was going? He was trying to be tactful. "She...those things--eh?" The man stopped quite abruptly at the appearance of the house elf, the one who'd been on thin ice since that little summer stunt.
Malachi raised a brow at him. "Your....what?" The man looked to the students again, not at all impressed. "Do any of you know what he's on about?" DON'T tell him that thing had been Toddles's doing. They now had a dead Professor on their hands.
Yeah, okay so LIAM WAS NOT HERE???
At least he couldn't see him. Maybe he was here. He was probably here, right? Somewhere. The whole castle was out in the courtyard after all so it was somewhat difficult to find people should you be looking for someone. He was probably lucky his sister had spotted him and that he was standing next to Max and Bel.
Wait, people had been FEEDING the pink creature? And touching it? Had they learned nothing in their time here at Hogwarts? You didn't have to be a Slytherin to be cautious, right? If that was where the danger was coming from, then Liam was definitely safe though. He was careful. He wouldn't feed something just because it was fluffy.
Right?

Apparently Zoryn answered Max's question, though.
Not just Max's, surely. That WAS what the Headmaster was trying to say, right? That their Charms professor had...died. And that the pink creature had something to do with it. W o w. Honestly, Cameron preferred creatures that LOOKED scary and dangerous to the inconspicuous ones. It took the prefect another moment to actually convince herself to get out of bed. Her sleepy part of the brain just wanted to ignore it, but the Prefect part of her brain told her this was important and she should go.
So she finally trudged up from the dungeons and went outside, squinting at the large mass of teachers and students. She was just in time to hear the Headmaster mention the Charms professor. Wait. Soon to be dearly missed??? Natalie stepped up to Max's side, trying to process that when she heard Zoryn yell about the fluffy things.... eating Professor Dopple.

Her blue eyes scanned the crowd until she found him, but she still felt uneasy. The heads of houses had tasks, but she felt... helpless. Had anyone else been eaten?
And there was Natalie!
A relieved sigh left Cameron's lips as he moved a little closer to his friend. Yes, he was aware that she was talking to Max, presumably in her position as Prefect but right now all Cam could think about was the last question she had asked. "I don't know." It was quite strange, wasn't it? She had asked the little furry things what had happened, but they obviously didn't know how to speak English.
Feeling quite frazzled, Dolly decided to get some fresh air. Leaving her office and somehow floating through her office door, Dolly walked floated down the corridor, noticing a few students running down the hall towards the the stairs. My, what was going on?
She finally ended up in the corridor to the courtyard, getting closer to the courtyard, when she noticed that nearly the entire student body and ALL of the staff had been gathered in the courtyard. "Oh dear, what is happening here?" Dolly whispered to herself, moving towards the doorway to enter the courtyard.
That was when another strange thing happened.
She hit some sort of... barrier.
The old woman tried again, but she was unable to enter the courtyard, somehow trapped inside this corridor. How frustrating! Why couldn't she join the others? Clearly this was an important meeting!
Dolly Dopple, unaware that she had very VERY recently been eaten and turned into a ghost, pounded her wrinkly fist on the invisible barrier that separated her from the outdoors. "What is going on here?" she called out. "What am I missing?" She didn't like to miss out, you see. "Has a Professor been injured?" Is that what she heard? You know, her hearing wasn't like it used to be.
In his frantic search for his boyfriend, Cameron was probably one of the first to spot....................Dopple.
Wow. So....that.......was........a thing now.
At least that very clearly answered everyone's question about the professor's whereabouts, i.e. if she was currently residing in a certain pink creature's stomach. Cameron instinctively touched Nat's hand, eyes still on the translucent professor. Was she seeing this?
Meanwhile that house elf was STILL yelling. While O'Hara looked like she was about to behead the creature. What a lovely afternoon this was.
Isla had her mouth shut the whole time she was there. Her tiny frame huddled close together with the rest of her Gryffindor mates, too afraid to move. Her knees were shaking, uh oh...not a good sign. Err... What?!
When he first agreed to attending Hogwarts over his Muggle school Caolan knew that it was going to be difficult and he would have to make all new friends and whatnot but he didn’t expect this. Muggle school was NORMAL. In Muggle school there wasn’t the threat of weird fluffy pink things eating your Professor and that Professor coming back as a ghost. He couldn’t help but stare at the old woman as she floated around clearly unaware of what had happened to her.
His eyes flicked between Dopple and the Headmaster and his Head Of House and then suddenly the shouting House Elf. It was like watching a soap opera on the TV only this was very real and there was a quite obvious threat of something EATING the students. He wasn’t sure whether to feel fear or adrenaline and his weight shifted from foot to foot as he went through the situation over and over in his head.
If his Ma knew she’d probably pull him out of school right now.

Chaos, was that was what was going on right now? Chloe stayed clung to Gunnar as the things started to unfold. THANK YOU PROFESSOR WAYLAND and HEADMASTER for putting that evil history of magic professor in her place. Chloe was in shock at how mean she was coming across about these creatures.
O_o
"IS SHE A GHOST?"
Chloe pointed towards Dopple and just stared and stared some more. Did that mean that every person that died in this castle just stayed? It made sense really, but didn't they want to go off to the other side? She hoped her head of house could see her because she wasn't leaving her brother and she wasn't the tallest in the bunch. Her eyes flew back to O'Hara when she started about the killing again and that the creatures were called Ratfaces, why was she still calling them that? Why did she hate creatures?
Monster lover?
That was rude, but Chloe wasn't going to move from her spot, that was until Toddles jumped and O'Hara started yelling. She was afraid the woman might hurt Toddles.
"Toddles, stop, please, stop it's okay. Toddles is just upset and worried, like all of us. He doesn't mean to.. Please don't hurt him." If she wanted to kill the creatures, what didn't say she might try to kill the house elf.

After checking in with her head of house, Cordelia found her roommate Isla and stood near her. When the translucent Dopple appeared, Cordelia just stared at the ghost emotionlessly. ”Is she dead?” Cordelia was rather unfazed by the apparent death of Professor Dopple. Given the age of that woman, were they sure that she was even still alive at the time she was eaten? There were worse and more painful ways to die than being consumed by a small fluffy creature. A single one of them couldn’t have eaten Dopple, could it? Surely a whole swarm of them had feasted upon her. What a horrible image. If it was true that these pink fuzzy creatures were eating everything, shouldn’t there have been a lot more excrement from them around the castle? It just seemed weird that there wasn’t mutant poop everywhere if they were all over the place eating everything. ”Where does it all go, you know, the stuff they eat?” She hadn’t seen droppings all over the place, and as as far as she knew no one else had either. What went in had to come out in some way, right? Now, could they please do something about this so everyone could go back to business as usual?
This was really not the best time to be having... whatever it was that Abra was currently having, but he wasn't exactly thinking that just yet. His mind was sort of jammed, stuck in danger mode, and he was gripping poor Dorian's arm like it was some kind of lifeline. He couldn't help but give a great start of alarm at his reaction but, rather than let go, just sort of... malfunctioned and froze.
Matters... were really not helped when ghost!Dopple appeared on the scene. Abra's breathing got even more wild and out of control, and as he hyperventilated all he could think was 'dead, dead, she's dead, dying, I'm going to die, dead, dead, dead', but not a word escaped his lips, only gasps for the air that he couldn't seem to properly get into his lungs.
And then Stasya was there, and Abra turned wide brown eyes to her. With all the chaos happening around them, it was difficult to really let her calm tone of voice be as soothing as he would have liked... but he did seem to come to his senses a bit and released Dorian's arm at last.
"I-I'm... s...sorry," he stammered between gasps for air, and tried to do what Stasya said, and breathe. But it was difficult, everything was happening in a rush and he felt like he could barely control anything at all. "I... I d-don't... kn-know..." He wanted everyone. Everyone he knew. Dante and Derf and Alanna and Aaron and Bel and just everyone. Here and safe and away from danger, but everywhere was danger, everything was wrong. And yet, he still wanted to apologise again, even more, for being the way he was right now when he knew he was supposed to be not-freaking-out and helping. Except he was still trying to breathe and not think of monsters and portals and dead staff members and pink things but he was failing on all counts and it was all just... awful.

Whoa. So much was happening right now that it was taking a minute for Gunnar to process it all. His eyes had found certain people that he was looking for, now that their safety was no longer an immediate concern, that was one less thing he had to worry about. And in the next minute, his sister was clinging to him, and.... wait, was Dopple dead??
That's what dearly departed meant, he knew this. But it was hard to believe those little pink things that Chloe had a fondness for could actually be responsible. And before he could even think about all the things wrong with that thought, there was a whole lot of yelling between O'Hara and Toddles... and... just what was this chaos??
He turned to look where Chloe was pointing and his eyes widened. "Yeah, I think she is....a ghost," he answered his sister's question in a voice that sounded far away. She really was dead and she was a ghost now. He could sort of see through her. It was probably rude of him to stare like he was, but he kind of couldn't help it.

Chloe heard the announcement and came skidding into the courtyard in a whirl of long fur. YES FUR DEAL WITH IT. Head Girl on duty, ok?
Oh... kay? Chloe could feel the tension crackling in the air, almost literally, since it made her fur stand on end. So that was weird and unpleasant. What was going on? What was the drama? How long had Dopple been a ghost?
Where was her Head of House? Should she do something useful? "Can I... help? IS SOMEONE BRAIDING MY FUR?" She swatted behind her.

It was quite strange, wasn't it?
Great Merlin's stinking underpants! Was that Dolly's ghost? That's all they needed at this school...another Ghost. He was sad to see all of the reactions of the students. He couldn't imagine how difficult and scary all of this was for them. Hopefully they would get the creatures under control, and quickly. The safety of the students was top priority!

The fact Toddles now came bursting forward about a fluffy thing was damning in the moment and the elf had no idea just how much trouble he would be in.
For now, he turned to the students again, grateful some of the Heads of Houses had already started their counts but found himself instead scowling at the History of Magic Professor's words.
"That's never how we handle creatures, O'Hara." And so much for tact. The woman had gone from a 2 to a 10 in under a second and he could only imagine how jarring it must have been for the students gathered in this already frightening situation. Time and place for everything. This was neither the time nor the place. "But the intention is very much to keep our students safe." That was never up for question. It needed to be done."Here's how we'll proceed. The common rooms will be checked and properly anchored with the appropriate wards. Consider those safe zones. You will all walk with at least one other student at all times--"
That voice.
Malachi nearly jumped out of his skin--scratch that, there was some jumping--when he heard the all too familiar voice of the Charm's Professor. For a brief moment, he was filled with hope that maybe they'd spat her out and everything was alright after all, but then he turned and saw the translucent figure and staggered several feet back before he could regain his composure.
Ooooooooh Meeeerrrlllliiiinnnnnnn.
Her question was a bit too on the nose for him. All he could do was STARE, mouth agape while several moments passed. Dolly--she--there--whu--huh--
Tristan was glad to hear the Headmaster was on his side when Alice said those terrible things. He was sure most of the people in this school would be on his side when it came to creatures, especially the students that took his class.
But of course...Alice wasn't finished yet.
SPOILER!!: O'Hara

UNRULY MINION!!!!!!" She shoved him off her and retreated backwards several steps, shaking in fury.
Tristan clenched his jaw, his arms already crossed over his chest, and popped his neck. This was an involuntary habit of his when he became angry. It was taking all of his effort not to scream at Alice in front of all of the students. Her behavior was extremely unprofessional, and he wasn't going to add to it. Especially after the 'monster lover' comment.
He gave a snort of derision and instead he calmly responded, "That is exactly the answer I would expect from someone with no knowledge of animals, magical or non-magical, and a fear of them. Lets just kill them all shall we? Any creature that could kill us. LeTS JUst kiLL ThEm AlL!" He mockingly flailed his arms about, before stopping and looking directly at her, and calmly continued, "What stops them is people like me with an education that study them in order to figure out why they do the things they do. In most cases it's a defense mechanism." He paused, "But you wouldn't know a thing about that would you, Professor O'Hara?" By the end of his speech his face was slightly red. His anger peaking.
And suddenly Toddles was on Alice, and she had thrown him off of her, berating him as she went. She was obviously scaring the students now and making things worse than they should be. "It's okay, Chloe I'll handle this." He gave the girl a small smile, and pat on the shoulder. Handle this he would.
Tristan moved forward, and stood in front of the Elf. "No. You are out of line, Alice. Toddles couldn't have known what this creature would do, and if he did I doubt he would have brought it here in the first place. I haven't even seen that creature before and I am a Magizoologist." He said angrily, keeping Toddles behind him.

Professor Wayland and mention of Professor Dopple! <3
Loveable Gryffinpuff| Stella Bella
Those cute pink little fur balls that been around the castle that she cuddled killed Dopple. It didn't seem possible they were so cute and little, how can something so cute and little do that? Her eyes wide, she looked at Professor Wayland confused and worried about the little creatures. "What will happen to the creatures Professor? I'm sure they didn't mean to do all this, no creature needs to be harm even if they did something terrible. " she said softly to him but loud enough to where only he could hear her.
Stella was sad about this all the way around, she had so many emotions going through her she was breathing hard, h..how could the Headmaster tell them that Professor Dopple was dead, shouldn't that be between staff members? None the less, she was a bit scared of what was going to happen to the creatures, but she was worried about what was going to happen to her she was already itching like crazy. Itching her arm she bit her lip paying attention to everything else around her. Well... it wouldn't be Hogwarts without the madness and chaos, it was just how Hogwarts was.
Jumping seeing the ghost of Professor Dopple she was breathing hard like she was about to have a asthma attack. Ok... she had to calm down and breathe where was Oceanus where she needed him? She was sure he'll calm her down. She was confused by everything that was going on, a bit freaked out as well.
Kassie could feel Kalen's body shake under her hand and she had to take a quick, deep breath to keep from screaming at the man to sit before he fell to the ground. She was not in the mood to keep a fully grown man from collapsing.
When the words Dolly and ghost started to be tossed around and the shaking of Professor Kennedy increase, Kassie decided to conjure a chair to encourage Kalen to sit. "Please take a seat before you fall or pass out. I don't believe I've ever seen anyone quite so pale and I'm not as young as I used to be. The odds of me catching you are slim at best. Plus, I don't believe dear Tristan needs any extra worry on his plate."
"Max Carden? Natalie McKinley? " She called out a bit louder than necessary, hoping her voice would carry over the din of the courtyard crowd. She figured if she could get one or both of the Slytherin Prefect's attention, Kalen could focus on taking care of himself.
In all of the chaos around them, she hadn't had a moment to process that Dolly was a ghost, the pink fluffies were a danger, and Toddles was apparently the original cause of all their troubles.

Seemed as though the Headmaster was more than a bit preoccupied with the situation at had to respond to him, but Derf did his best to not take that the wrong way. The announcement itself had obviously been...distressed and he did have an entire school to look out for and not just his quiet and anxious voice. Which is why his attention easily moved to Chloe's when she moved to his sides. "I'm not sure," he answered her honestly while taking that hand latched to his robes with his own and holding it securely to ... reassure her somehow. "...but it's going to be okay."
How he knew that or whether or not he believed his own words were, well, beyond him. Just felt like the right thing to say in the situation.
Before he could ask Kaira what she meant by mutants when all of a sudden there was a younger Ravenclaw chewing and sucking on his school robes??? "Oi oi oi, what are you doing there, mate?" he asked, entirely bewildered as he used his free hand to try and tug it free from the Ravenclaw's jaws. "...I reckon you really don't want to know where all these have been today..." Like...really really did not want to know and he had only brushed some of the mucus and mud and creature feces off and administered a quick deodorizing spell on them. Professor Adara and then Professor Stewart both swooped in to tell the boy, who thanks to Chloe's addition he now knew was Mark Gunter, to stop gnawing on his robes like a goat. At least Professor Noble didn't add to all that - seemed more concerned with making sure everyone was present and accounted for by the looks of it all.
...and then everything just seemed to happen at once.
The Headmaster explaining that the Charms professor was...gone...Professor O'Hara was being the judge and jury on these creatures who had apparently eaten Professor Dopple (not like that was MURDER...creatures had to eat and it was really all their fault that they did not know what all this creature needed to sustain itself, you know?) and he decided even MORE that he did not like her...and his face fell even MORE when she was proclaiming to the Headmaster about her lack of magical ability. But the whiplash of happenings didn't stop there and the Hufflepuff continued to be bombarded with information. Professor Noble telling them to get in lines, Chloe slipping out from his hand, Toddles showing up and shouting about his Fluffsies and then Professor O'Hara potentially threatening the house elf too!? And then there was Professor Dopple appearing...as a ghost...and the seventh year's face went white as a sheet and that pink fur on his elbows seemingly grew several more centimeters in the blink of an eye, almost touching the ground of the courtyard now.
Also? In the moment his respect for Professor Wayland had returned. "T-The Ministry should come and collect them," Derf offered up meekly, though surely that was a thought on everyone's mind by this point. They would be safe and in capable hands. Plus, if the creatures were to stay here it was certain that Professor O'Hara would take matters into her own hands and Derf could not handle seeing more animal deaths on his watch at Hogwarts by the hand of malicious witches and wizards. "Hogwarts is just as unsafe for them as it is to them..."
It was easier to focus on the creatures than anything else, like ghost Professor Dopple. It was one thing to know the Hogwarts House ghosts - there was some sort of divide there and a huuuuuuuuuge generation gap that distanced any association, you know? But this...seeing a woman who had just taught him yesterday and had been privately tutoring him in advanced Charms? It was too much and Derf's brain had flipped on its defense mechanism of tunnel visioning on something comforting - his relationship with creatures.

The meeting was quickly descending into chaos faster than his mind could make sense of and it wouldn't be helping anyone.
The man belatedly heard the words of the Head Boy, having truly been preoccupied. In fact, it only hit him after Noble ordered the Hufflepuffs into a line. At the moment his brain was processing things out of order--like Spinnet's yell about Dopple being dead now and even McCarthy's after she'd seen the ghost of Dolly. In truth, standing here at the front of the increasingly uneasy group of gathered students, it was hard to hear what most of them were mumbling and muttering on about. He shot his staff a look, hoping they would handle whatever was happening.
The man winced at Katharos' blunt explanation, looking again to Dopple to see how she would take it before....O'Hara continued to happen. He'd hoped she'd put an end to it after he'd said what he said. Again, this wasn't the time or the place for such reactions. Professionalism was still a thing.
"That sounds like something you should personally be working on should you wish to remain employed." Regarding her shortcomings with magic. That was all he would say on the matter. This was Hogwarts. Dangerous things happened ALL THE TIME apparently. A Professor unable to defend herself adequately, let alone the students was not fit for the job. But that was not a discussion they needed to be having now. Her argument with Tristan brought him back to some semblance of himself--as did Toddle's erratic behaviour. Malachi reached forward and yanked the elf off the woman with as much force as he thought necessary to dislodge the creature. "ENOUGH!" Meant for all three of them. This wasn't helping anyone. "Toddles, go back to my office and wait for me there. I have some questions so we we can better help your "fluffsies". Go. Now." He wouldn't ask again. "And that's enough from you both as well. This is not the time for this. O'Hara, we're not killing these creatures. We have options, options we'll discuss together as a staff once we've gotten the students to safety. No more."
He cleared his throat and turned to the students once more.
"Everyone listen up." He'd have to hurry before something else happen...ed.......
"Kettleburn????" It SOUNDED like the Head Girl but that was...she was...a ball of fur........
W H A T ? Malachi shook his head, trying to concentrate. No more distractions. "This is how we'll move forward. Classes will be cancelled for the rest of the afternoon. You all will be accompanied back to your common rooms by your professors and Heads of Houses. Together, I'd like you all to search the common room--again, not alone. If you find any of these creatures, draw it to a professor's attention. Again, don't touch it, don't feed it. Once the Common Room sweeps have been completed, the necessary wards will be put in place to ensure they stay out." Yes, that would be a good place to start.
"Your professors and I will be having a meeting after dinner to discuss how best to proceed. Please return to your common rooms after dinner tonight as well. No loitering about. Prefects, ensure everyone is accounted for, do patrols only in pairs and keep them brief before heading back yourselves. I don't think I need to stress how serious this situation is."
He looked to Dolly again...not...really sure....what to do their...."We'll be back inside in a minute, Dolly." He assured. "Anyone who even vaguely looks like Kettleburn over there head to my office." Were they clear on all this?
"Professors, if you could kindly begin leading the students back. Prefects, help to keep them in line along the way." Again, unless they even vaguely resembled Kettleburn. ANY kind of fur qualified them here.

Hanna heard a voice next to her and turned to see Kaira. "I..." Shrug. "I don't know. Something bad I think." It had to be something bad. Dorian came up next and Hanna gave him a worried little greeting. "Well that's what I'm thinking. It has to have been something of that level emergency to call... this."
It wasn't so long before seemingly the whole school came up, all of the Professors joining too. The Heads and house leaders doing their thing.
And House Elves.
"Toddles?" Hanna muttered, as she saw the little elf. What was fluffsies? Those... pink fluffy things that had been around the castle lately? The ones that were probably responsible for the hourglasses being destroyed?
Her attention immediately went to the Headmaster. She looked around for the fellow Ravenclaws and ticked off a patchy mental list. Well her dorm room girls were there. And most of who she could see, too. His words went right through her, to the pit of her stomach. With everything he said, it just seemed worse. The pink fluffy things? They were... dangerous?
Dearly loved, and dearly missed? Professor Dopple!?
Hanna gasped loudly. "D-Dopple?" a sob bubbled up and she wiped away some tears. Professor Dopple was a dear lady. Not long ago Hanna had even tried to help her find something! That was only the other day! "Oh no, the poor lady," she hiccupped out.
Hanna mostly had no idea that Toddles had anything to do with the little pink things, and really she was so upset by the news of Professor Dopple that she barely registered that the little elf might have had something to do with them. People around her were talking about the elf in regards to the pink things, but Hanna knew nothing.
And then...
GASP.
Very audible GASP!
"P-P-Pr-Prof-fessor D-Dop-ppppppple!" Hanna stammered. Was a GHOST!? Turning to Dorian, just to check she was really seeing it, she said "A-Are you seeing this Dorian? D-Dopple!? GHOST?"
Chaos was going on with poor Toddles, but what was he going on about? His fluffsies? It was almost comical watching Toddles and Professor O'Hara battle it out. Hanna was against any animal cruelty, but she had a point. They had tasted human blood. What if they had a little teenage feast in one of the common rooms? They didn't deserve harm upon them, but they really did need to be captured somehow. Released somewhere they could do no harm. And then Derf made a genius suggestion. "Mmm!!!" Hanna agreed, eyes wide. "MMm, yes the Ministry! You can't kill them! You also shouldn't kill sharks for eating people in the ocean! It's just their nature!"
THANKFULLY Headmaster Trent knew how to say no. No death to the creatures. "Thank Merlin," Hanna whispered to herself. She absolutely, 100% would not go near any of these pink creatures if she spotted any. Nope.

EVASIVE | RESTLESS | MISUNDERSTOOD always on the move
Alice briefly turned to see which student had requested her not to harm the annoying house elf. It was Chloe. Trying to seem as calm as possible (which was hard after being yelled at by a colleague and having a house elf climb up her), she replied in a hopefully non-scary way: "I wasn't going to hurt him. I was only getting him off me. Don't worry." Well actually, she DID want to hurt him - but mostly that was out of anger which would fade away in an hour or so. Even in her rage, she knew it would be bad to be threatening house elves in front of the entire school - and she did not want to make the students more upset than they were.
Speaking of which, WHY in Merlin's dirty socks was Professor Wayland acting as if SHE were the one who had swallowed Dolly?! In her mind, everything she said was perfectly right and good in dealing with dangerous monsters - but this care of magical creatures professor clearly disagreed. If not for the headmaster ordering them to stop, she would have shouted something right back at him - and it would have been nastier than anything she'd said so far. At this moment she was tempted to slap him, but of course she did no such thing. Instead she lowered her voice to almost a whisper and said in her iciest tone ever: "Why don't we talk about this in private, all right?" His office, more than likely, as she doubted he would come to hers.
The headmaster's threating her to find further employment was not helping her mood improve one bit. How dare he threaten her like that in front of all their students?! How dare he act like it was something that she was poor at magic, when she had informed him (just as she had informed her previous two bosses) at the start of term? She was a history of magic professor, not a charms professor! Casting magic was not part of the job description, and why didn't her dear boss fire her at the start of the term if he thought her poor magic would be an issue at further employment? Clearly, he was just mad that she wanted to kill the creatures - and this was just his way of telling her to shut up!
But being a Ravenclaw, Alice was intelligent enough to guess that she would have been fired at the spot if she tried arguing. Besides, it would be wrong to argue anymore when students were in danger. So instead she merely nodded, her expression cold and distant. "I understand, Headmaster."
"Ravenclaws!" Of course she was not head of Ravenclaw house, but all staff had just been instructed to accompany their students back to their common rooms - so that was the group she was with.
It was only then that she noticed Dolly. "Goodness!" she exclaimed in surprise, clutching her chest.
Missing and gnawed through stuff. Joshua immediately thought of his work robes and plant sheerer that we’re missing as well as the hourglasses as Trent spoke. Pink fluffy creatures though he had not encountered anywhere but he spent more time on the grounds than inside the castle.
The news about Dopple’s death though was unexpected and tragic. Was Headmaster Trent trying to imply to them that the pink furry creatures had eaten her up? Oh sweet turnips this was a real tragedy if it was true. Then Toodles arrived jabbering about his fluffsies and then Alice went berserk claiming that they needed to exterminate the creatures and Tristan took offense naturally saying that Alice was wrong out and Trent agreed.
Josha then heard Dolly Dopple’s voice and turned to stare in shock and disbelief like many other’s at her translucent and ghostly figurine in the doorway. Oh my mandrakes she was a ghost Trent had been right about her death.
Then Toddles went wild attacking Alice and then Tristan tried to intervene and Head Girl Kettleburn looked like she had eaten a bowl of fur. Sheesh. Hearing Trent’s orders Joshua nodded and then looked around at his colleagues mainly his eyes went to Kay, Kalen, Noble and Tristan "I’ll help whichever house needs assistance with the common room sweep and getting the students safely back to their houses." Looking over at Headmaster Trent he asked "Shall we increase the wards around the common rooms and all public areas while we are at it?"
