| | Clock Tower Entrance The Clock Tower Entrance is one of the three main entrances of Hogwarts Castle (the other two being the Viaduct Entrance and the main Entrance Hall). It aligns with the third-floor corridor, connecting with the courtyard that stems off to the Wooden Bridge and the rest of the school grounds. This large open space can be magically sealed with a portcullis and the massive double doors can be locked with numerous bolts.
At the base of the Clock Tower is a large window that may cause you to question why it is even there as all you can see out of it is the side of a building. Fortunately for you, the massive steel and iron pendulum swinging back and forth will likely pull you out of trying to figure out that mystery. If you look closely at the suspended weight, an imprint of a many armed star in the middle and a number of runic symbols on the outer rim can be seen. Study the purposeful design on the pendulum as long as you like. Just don't fall into temptation of swinging from it and pretending to be a wrecking ball.

| Sarah thinks I'm cute | Shan's safe space. Even if he'd been able to understand the symbols carved into the pendulum, it was unlikely that Józef would have cared. Unless it had opened up a secret passage way, or if it was a miraculous spell that would make him a genius or a profession Quidditch player RIGHT THEN, he wasn't interested.
But he was interested in the pendulum. How feasible was it to.... climb? Did it ever slow down enough? What would the vantage point be like? That was what the second year cared about, and he bounced on the balls of his feet as he watched it swinging.

| HeadGirlMC | Treddie & Trixiver <3 | Copy Girl | Katie's Ickle Minion | I love YOU more Caolan had been out in the grounds that morning over by the Greenhouses. Call him a nerd or weird for being interested in the plants but ever since he was a young boy and watching his Da grow hundreds of varieties in their own greenhouses on the farm, Caolan had found himself drawn to them. He rarely let anyone know that information however, it was mostly kept to himself for fear of people finding it weird. That’s what some kids were like at his old school you see and he preferred to be liked than to be that true to himself sometimes.
He had taken the route over the wooden bridge and into the castle via the clock tower when he spotted one of the younger kids he had shared a boat with during that first Defence Against the Dark Arts lesson. At least this kid had put some effort in to at least trying to row the boat unlike some people and for that he appreciated the second year. He joined him looking up at the swinging pendulum wondering what it could be that was capturing his attention. “What you looking at?” he asked, a smile on his face. Was it the runes that were etched on the weight? He hoped he wouldn’t ask Caolan what they meant because the Ravenclaw didn’t have the foggiest.

| Sarah thinks I'm cute | Shan's safe space. If Józef had known that Caolan thought him a great help during that Defence lesson, he would have laughed - and probably added ‘looking like a great help’ to his list of accomplishments. He supposed he’d rowed a little, but the older boy (and Lucas and Stella) had definitely done all of the hard work.
Which was as it should be: he was bigger and therefore, be default, stronger, and Józef’s arm had been unnecessarily in a sling resting for Quidditch tryouts. They’d already lost the first match of the season - and he was 10000% blaming the headmaster for benching all of their best players, himself included - he didn’t want to imagine what the year would be like if he hadn’t made the team AT ALL.
No, it didn’t do to think about it. It was water under the bridge now, or something, anyway.
He did, however, grin back at the Ravenclaw. “Trying to work out how difficult that is to climb,” he said, guesturing at the pendulum. “And the best time to climb it. Got to have a high traffic flow through the corridor when I do.” Because what was the point of such a stunt if there weren’t people to impress?!

| HeadGirlMC | Treddie & Trixiver <3 | Copy Girl | Katie's Ickle Minion | I love YOU more Caolan didn’t really care if Józef hadn’t actually put much effort into rowing, the point was that he at least TRIED and for that the Ravenclaw was grateful. The kid was pretty small after all and the small amount of contribution was better than the absolutely abysmal lack of effort that someone else had put in.
No. Caolan Wilson wasn’t bitter at all..
..much.
The sixteen year old’s brow raised slightly as the young kid explained what his plans were. As a younger student Caolan might have been a little bit tempted to do the same but as a fifth-year he felt some form of responsibility for being a positive influence on the younger kids and not an encouragement. However.. “You could probably get up there with a decent boost. There’s a ledge up there that looks strong enough and low enough to grab onto and pull yourself up.” Caolan had climbed enough trees in his life to know how best to climb something. He’d also been on one of those adventure holiday things with his mates in school before and found a love for rock climbing. “Not that I’m encouraging you to do it or anything..” Heh.
As for the best time to do it? “I’d say between lessons or just before lunch when everyone is heading back to the castle. You’d get the majority of the student traffic then.” Once again, not that he was persuading him to do any of this. |

Józef's eyes wandered to the ledge that Caolan was talking about, head tilting to one side as he considered it. The older boy made a good point and he could probably make it with a running jump. He did roll his eyes a moment later when he just had to point out that he wasn't encouraging, because it sounded like the exact opposite.
Older kids were weird, though. "See, I thought about maybe flying, right," he started, shuffling his feet a little and turning back to Caolan. "And then I could jump onto it from my broom, but then my broom would just.... fall to the floor, and I can't exactly risk it getting broken." No, he'd already missed a lot of Quidditch thanks to the Headmaster. Gryffindor didn't need their best asset flying a school broom again.
"Yeah. Before lunch sounds like a good time." If he could get ahead of the crowd and sprint his way down here first. His eyes once again watched the pendulum swing a few times before Jó rounded back on the older boy.
"What's the riskiest thing you've ever done?"

| HeadGirlMC | Treddie & Trixiver <3 | Copy Girl | Katie's Ickle Minion | I love YOU more Should he be encouraging this? Probably not but the kid wouldn’t really climb the clock tower, would he? “Flying could work if you had enough control over the broom. You could risk breaking it though if it scraped across the wall. Climbing is more fun..” Riskier but fun.
Err.. Maybe the kid WAS serious about this whole prank thing? Never mind..
What was the riskiest thing he had ever done? That was a good question and he wasn’t sure whether to divulge that type of information to a younger student for fear of being a bad influence. He didn’t exactly want to encourage that type of behaviour however he too was a boy and he liked risk taking and the adrenaline pumping through his veins and he would be a hypocrite to say he had never done anything bad in his life. “I once kicked a football so hard it smashed one of the windows at school. They never found out it was me.” Mostly because he and his mates had sprinted away so fast they could never get caught. “I’ve lost count of the amount of balls I kicked onto the school roof.” Would he do that sort of thing now? No. Did he regret it at the time? Naaaaah. |

No. Did he regret it at the time? Naaaaah. Józef stared at the older boy in disbelief. Climbing was more fun that flying? Climbing was more fun than FLYING? Was he delusional?! "Nothing is more fun than flying," he said, deadpan expression present on his face. "Absolutely nothing."
Other than that, he had an excellent point about braking the broom. Which Jó was ignoring because HE JUST SAID SOMETHING WAS MORE FUN THAN FLYING.
And the Gryffindor was clearly never getting over that.
"I take it you don't mean this school?" The question was stupid, of course, but if he'd kicked the ball onto Hogwarts roof then Józef would have been impressed. IMPRESSED. Even if it wasn't that risky, really - not in his eyes, anyway. "Mark got annoyed at me because I kicked a ball and he caught it with his face. And his nose broke, so now he hates me." And he was leaving out how rude he'd been to the other kid afterwards, of course.
