Valencia beamed. She wasn't sure about the brave thing. Her dad made the quidditch team as a first year. Her mum also played. it was legacy, really. She had to know if she was like them.

But it was nice the older girl thought those things.

She fell quiet as the ghost!Professor went over the activity.

"Want to try it on each other?" It was less intimating that aiming a wand at your own face and hoping for the best. "I can grab us both the stick ons."

If it wasn't that the professor was a ghost that kept Chloe quiet it was that first question. She was thinking so much on it. There were so many things she would change if she could. She wanted to change her height, she hated being so short. She knew her mother said she would grow, but when the average age of girls to go through the growth to be young ladies instead of just girls was here and she was still short, it worried her. There were other things too though, she wished she could have hair like Nettie and be pretty like Missa, then there were the older girls. They were so pretty and looked so older. She wanted to look like them too.

The next question came and went and still Chloe was on the first question in her head. Changing things was something she thought about often, she liked herself well enough, but she was noticing more and more how boys looked at other girls and how it didn't seem like people really looked at her that way and she knew why she still looked like she was ten. How did one get themselves to change to look prettier and older? That would be a great lesson to learn and maybe ghost pro was going to help them. The excitement came over her and she thought maybe she really should be listening more.

Disappointment filled her when all they were learning was a temporary charm that removed pimples. She didn't have any pimples because obviously, she hadn't hit that stage of her life, UNFORTUNATELY! She thought they'd learn something that could help her issues, but nope just some stupid pimple remover. Begrudgingly she pulled out her wand and practiced the movements. "Pulchtritudo, Pulchtritudo, Pulchtritudo"

Knowing she was saying it right she got up out of her seat and sulkily went to get a wart.

Nettie smiled at the younger girl. "Yeah, sure!" she said excitedly. Working with a partner was good, it would help her take her mind off the fact that they were being taught by a literal ghost right now. It was still just so...asdjfaskjdad. The less she looked at Dopple though, the easier it got to ignore.

This was actually a super convenient spell! Why had she never heard of it before? "Pulchtritudo...Pulchtritudo...Pulchtritudo," she practiced the pronunciation as she waited for Valencia to return.

Valencia grinned and hurried to grab a handful of the fake acne. She happily took her seat and dropped the stick-ons on the desk. She then placed one on her own cheek.

"Okay. Ready."

Natasha was already feeling discouraged as she was unable to find a partner. Part of her wanted to just run out and hide, but she was determined to see the lesson through. Getting up as quietly as she could, she fetched a fake wart from the box, then returned to her seat.

After placing the wart on the back of her hand, she readied her wand. ”Pulchtritudo.” She said quietly, giving her wand a tap. It didn't surprise her that nothing happened. Her wand reacted to her emotions. ”Pulchtritudo.” She tried again, attempting to sound more confident. Still nothing. Taking a deep breath to calm her nerves, she tried again. ”Pulchtritudo.” To her surprise, the wart vanished. She checked her hand, but it looked like the charm worked.

Now, for the real test. She found a small freckle on her arm. “Pulchtritudo.” She was scared to look at first, but her arm was fine, and the little freckle was temporarily gone.

As she was walking back from getting her wart she noticed a first year and smiled, "Do you want to work with me? I don't have anyone and I see you don't have a partner either." Being they were both Ravenclaws she knew the girl. Seeing her take the freckle away Chloe frowned a bit.

"I know this is a temporary spell and I know we have to practice, but I really like your freckles, I wouldn't get rid of them if I were you." Honestly this class was playing with her own insecurities that she was having and seeing a younger student taking away a part that made them who they were, even if it was just because they were practicing really bothered her.

"Professor I know this is just practice and great for pimples and things that go away after time, but shouldn't we be really focusing on uplifting everyone around us not teaching them how to get rid of flaws that make them who they are and make them beautiful in their own way." She understood the lesson and someday, she might really need it if a boy noticed her, but right now she just felt it was possibly causing others to think of what they didn't like about themselves instead of what they liked.


Anyway, she needed to practice, "Since I don't have freckles or pimples I got this wart to try." She put it on and giggled seeing her refection. Alright now what was the spell, doing the wand movement she concentrated, "Pulchtritudo" Reaching up and touching her face she looked in the mirror and saw no wart.

Natasha looked up a little shocked that someone had addressed her directly. "Yes, that would be nice." She smiled, happy to finally have a partner. "I'm not getting rid of all of them. My wand can be a little temperamental, so I used a fake wart first. I just wanted to try it on myself for the first time here with the professor, just in case it would have gone horribly wrong." She explained, watching her partner try the charm.

"I agree with you. I know we are here to learn charms, but it's so easy to be self conscious and lessons like this only worsen it. No one here looks bad, but I feel like a fair portion of the class will now be distracted from other lessons because they are worried about covering every little freckle or blemish. She quickly fell silent. That was likely the most she had said to anyone and it made her feel odd. Conversations were rare for her..

"I'm Natasha." She introduced herself. She had seen her fellow housemate around, but they had never formally met before.

Tina wasn't sure what to think when her words made Daisy blush... not that there was anything wrong with blushing, of course. She just didn't expect that kind of reaction to something so simple as giving a compliment! Her surprise at the blushing was nothing compared to her surprise when Daisy told her she was fine the way she was. She wasn't used to hearing that - usually people told her she needed to be more social, more spontaneous, more... something. She blinked, unsure how to react. "Thank you, Daisy," she said when she found her voice, smiling from ear to ear.

Before she could say anything else, they were moving on to the main activity. Tina still didn't understand what all these compliments had to do with charms, but if Dopple's idea was to make them feel better about themselves, then mission accomplished. She refocused her attention as the professor explained the spell they were learning, a Beauty Charm. Oh, okay, now the compliment activity made more sense! She copied down the information written on the board, reading over it a couple of times before starting. The wand movement was easy enough, but that incantation looked like a mouthful! She was definitely going to have to devote some extra practice to pronunciation!

The dark-haired Ravenclaw touched her face. Despite her daily regimen of bubotuber pus solution, she had a few of pimples on her cheeks and chin. She thought for a minute. As excited as she was to finally be learning a new charm, she didn't quite feel comfortable practicing it on her face... at least not at first. She was good at charms, but spells could always backfire... which was why she preferred using potions to treat blemishes. She decided to practice with the stick-on pimples first, then work up to real ones.

Tina picked up a few of the stick-on pimples and put them on the back of her left hand. Better there than her face... at least this way, if she made a mistake, she wouldn't be disfigured! "Pulchtritudo," she practiced the incantation under her breath. Merlin, what a long word! She wondered if whoever had invented that spell chose the the longest word they could think of for the incantation just to confuse people! "Pulchtritudo, Pulchtritudo, Pulchtritudo..."

After several repetitions, Tina decided that was probably as good as her pronunciation was going to get. She drew her wand and gently tapped one of the fake pimples on her hand. "Pulchtritudo!" The blemish vanished before her eyes. So far, so good... no unexpected side effects, but that could've been because the blemishes weren't real. "Pulchtritudo, Pulchtritudo!" She cast the spell a couple more times, making the remaining stick-on blemishes disappear. That went better than expected. Did she dare try it on a real pimple now?

Tina talked herself into trying it. She reached into her bag for a tiny compact mirror. There was no way she was going to attempt this spell on her face if she couldn't see what she was doing! She studied her reflection for a moment. There was a pimple under her chin that looked like a good candidate. If she messed up, maybe it would be less noticeable there! She aimed her wand, glancing at the mirror to make sure she had the right placement. A look of deep concentration crossed her face as she tapped the blemish. "Pulchtritudo!" she said as clearly and evenly as she could.

Did that work? Tina looked in the mirror again and gingerly touched the area under her chin. The rough bump that once was the pimple was gone. She beamed, pleased that she'd cast the charm on herself without anything bad happening. She didn't expect she'd be using this spell much - she still preferred potions for that sort of thing, and besides, there were worse things in life than a few pimples- but she did it! that was the important thing.

It was a useful spell, she'd give Dopple that. Glancing at Indigo, she offered him a smile and motioned with her head to the box up front. "I'll go grab some stick on warts, okay?" There were no yearbook photographers around to catch them all sporting these spots, right? Some of them had a funny sense of humor and she could only imagine how silly it'd look in a yearbook spread.

"Pulchitrudo...Pulchitrudo..Pulchitrudo..." She practiced the incantation as she walked up to collect what they'd need, noting that it was a mouthful.

The wand movement was easy enough, so she wasn't as worried about that, though she did hope Indigo trusted her enough to practice on his spots, because she didn't fancy pointing her wand at her own face. Awkward angles and all, you see.

"Here, have a wart." ...Not something she ever thought she'd be saying to a friend. She placed a couple on her own face, one on her nose and one on her chin, and considered. "How do I look?"

As Dolly floated around the class, watching her DARLING students practice the new charm on each other, she was pleased to find that most of them were doing quite well with the new spell. And some of them had concerns about the meaning behind the spell, which was natural.

She paused in front of the student who asked her about uplifting rather than hiding zits, which DID make sense. "Why, yes of course you should focus on that! But who doesn't want to get rid of a zit every now and again?!" Silly girl! Both were important!

After continuing her rounds around the room, and once the class was officially over, Dolly waved her arms around at the front of the classroom. "That's it, everyone! For your homework, I want you all to write SIX inches telling me ALL the things that you like about yourself!" Because yes, it was important to love yourself, zits and all.

"Class dismissed!"

Vivienne was doing exceptionally well. Uplifting zits? How convenient. Uplifting and hiding were important. Very. Then Vivienne wrote down her homework: six inches telling Dopple what things I like about myself. Self-reflection? Ooh, how enthusing. Love, not hate. She packed up her things and waltzed out the door.
