It was a BRIGHT and SHINY, WONDERFUL, MARVELOUS, SPECTACULAR, DELICIOUS day. The sun was out (even though it was cold) and the charms classroom was about 500 degrees, just like old Dolly Dopple liked it. Nice and roasty toasty.
After opening the door to the classroom, Dolly stood at the front of the classroom, fingers eagerly twiddling in front of her chest, an excited wrinkly smile on her face. The classroom was set up like a normal classroom with a few colourful ribbon streamers draping across the ceiling to give some flare. On the corner of the table in front of Dolly sat a scraggly, patchy-furred kneazle that looked mostly dead. Was it actually dead? Did it just blink? No, it had to be dead...
On each of the desks sit a small cup of clear, unscented liquid and a piece of paper. On the board, a simple set of instructions is written in wiggly, unkempt handwriting:
Write your name in BIG letters on your paper and fold it in half to make a table tent.

Wait a minute. Was she seeing one of those hallucination thingys like one would see in a desert? Because that was the only explanation for why she was seeing multiple Maxton Cardens. But why would her mind choose to show her multiple Maxes instead of say......water or something like that? And why were others seemingly seeing the same thing as she was? "Is this, like, one of those mass hallucination things?" she asked with a humorous tone.
And uh-oh. She'd heard that tone from Derf only once before....

Taddy arrived for Charms class, he didn't have much to worry about. It was just another lesson to him, he would be okay and he could learn some new spells. This would be great. First thoughts on his arrival?
Boy is it hot..
He couldn't help slightly tugging on his school tie, but not enough to make him look messy. "Er, hello Professor." Taddy greeted, eyeing the dead-looking kneazle. She seemed to be happy here.. he couldn't but feel a bit weird at the sight. But he had to be polite so his smile may have widened a bit more out of nervousness. Yeah, time to sit down.
He went to sit by the other Ravenclaw guys before reading the board. Make a name tag, not a problem.

There, all done. He eyed the room as others joined in... Wait, didn't that older Slytherin come in already? His eyes seemed to be playing tricks at first, but nope. There was more of him.. Wow, and they're all identical. No way.. this was too weird. It didn't make sense to him.

...wait, another Max. Prefect Max, from Slytherin house. Huh. They looked...the same. A twin?
..............Another one though? TRIPLETS? *whaaaaaa*
And yet another one? What...was...going...on? Quadruplets? Um.
Harri blinked. And blinked again. And then looked around at all the Maxes with a veeeeery confused expression. Can't a first year get some normal class around here? Or was this part of the lesson? Professor? Anyone?
Mister snogger Prefect? ...Huh? Revelio?
Really? Guess her memory wasn’t so fallible after all.... “Yikes, well... that’s embarrassing. For me...,” She replied sheepishly, cheeks red, but that was probably all clear. “Sorry, Harri. Maybe we can meet again in better terms next lesson... ,” she began shortly after.
After looking down at her hot-dog tent, with her (?) name written down on it, she also said, “Oh, um... I go by Charlie. Definitely Charlie. I suppose Max is my subconscious name....” Or something weird like that.
What was also weird was the abundance of Max’s around her who were apparently in the same boat (like DADA...).
Were they telepathetically connected?! Wicked cool... but the itching wasn’t.

Chloe was sweating the moment she walked into the room, and she was sure she had a fever. That was the only thing that made sense, right? Because cute as that little Max Carden might be, there was only ONE of them. And yet, here were, like, a hundred of them. Whole classroom of them.
Huh.
Chloe seated herself primly at a desk near Bel and gave the girl a pointed look. "You need to do something about this... Oh, good day, Professor. That's a lovely little kneazle... you... have there." Bit patchy and frazzled looking, but still lovely. Chloe scratched a persistent itch on her elbow as she studied all the many Max's.
Oh, her name tag! Chloe folded the paper and wrote a cheerful, loopy CHLOE KETTLEBURN across it.
Charms was one subject that Camilus knew he would be good at. He had always had fun with his cousins, from charming sailboats in France to the food on his home kitchen table. If he was a pro at anything, it was charms.
Taking his seat in the second to last row, he took his quill and wrote his name.
A path is not simply for walking, its purpose lies in moving forward and improving oneself.

Great, now his knee AND his arm hurt. But it also meant that he wasn't dreaming so that was a relief. But that still raised the question. What on earth was going on?
The fifteen year old looked around for the first time and he realised that he wasn't the only one witnessing the weird Max's. His blue eyes landed on a little Ravenclaw near him and it took him a moment to realise that he was speaking to him. "what? Why wouldn't i be okay?" he asked as a confused frown was playing on his face but then he realised what the younger one meant. "Aah you mean my knee? Its fine, ive had worse" which was true. He had been possessed before and he had nearly died in multiple occasions. So a bang against the desk was nothing compared. He looked down at the name the kid wrote on his tag and he suddenly realised that he hadn't written his own.
Quickly taking out his pen, the fifth year wrote down his name on it.

Good thing it was summer, otherwise Hanna would have been rugged up with all of the wintery things. So when she walked into the HOT room, she didn't feel like she was about to die. She actually really liked it. It was nice and warm. She removed her outer robes but still had on her clean, pressed uniform. Old habits.
Hanna walked in, spotted the new Charms Professor, and gave her a smile. She missed Gaston, a lot, but she wasn't going to let that affect her feelings for the new one. "Hello Professor Dopple," Hanna said. And then she spotted the room. Much wow, it was decorated and pretty!
She headed to a seat, and followed the instructions.
Hanna Newton
She noticed the kneazle, and hoped to Merlin that it wasn't... well, dead.

Tina didn't want to come to charms class at all today - or ever, to be honest. Professor Dopple was one of two professor who gave her a bad vibe at the feast, and the simple fact that she was here instead of the only person Tina knew with ties to Hogwarts automatically put her in the French girl's bad graces. Not that she blamed the woman personally; she would've felt the same toward anybody standing at the front of this classroom. Honestly, could she just boycott charms? Probably not; it was too early for Tina to start getting into trouble. Changing schools again wasn't an option, and she didn't want to encounter the headmaster any more than she had to.
So Tina was here, but she felt she was betraying a family friend with her presence. She knew what he'd say. He'd want her to be kind and give the new professor a chance, but nope, sorry! Fantine Sophie Dantes didn't just hand out chances! Her respect had to be earned, and so far things weren't off to a good start.
The first thing she noticed was how stiflingly hot the room was. Did Professor Dopple pick a room temperature to match her age or something? Tina was tempted to remove her robes and sweater and loosen her tie, but she kept her full uniform on as a sign that she wasn't about to let her guard down around this professor, opting instead to cast a cooling charm on herself. Her dark eyes darted from the streamers to the obviously dead kneazle at the front of the room. Please tell me that kneazle is a lesson aid, Tina thought. Otherwise... she didn't even want to think about the implications!
"Good morning, professor," Tina greeted with rigid politeness, giving the professor a nod but not a smile. Tina wasn't going to pretend to feel all happy and smiley when she didn't. Believe it or not, this was the most positive attitude she could muster!
Tina's dark eyes widened as she saw several students who looked exactly like each other, all of whom had the name MAX written on their name tags. Obviously a prank of some kind... She rolled her eyes, inwardly groaning as she plopped down in a vacant seat at the back of the room. Whatever was going on, it was so juvenile! She may not want Professor Dopple as her charms teacher, but she didn't condone messing with her head like that, especially when she already seemed a little...off.
Whatever, it didn't concern her. Tina was just going to let the Max-a-millions carry on with their childish prank. Instead she focused on making a name tag. She wrote her name in big letters on a piece of paper, but she didn't stop there. "Figura butterfly," she whispered under her breath, pointing her wand, and a butterfly appeared under her name. "Colorvaria." The butterfly turned purple. Satisfied with her work, Tina neatly folded the paper into a little tent and stuck it on the edge of her desk... not that she expected anyone to understand the symbolic meaning behind her drawing. That was more for her.
SPOILER!!: Tina's name tag

Mark wasn't sure there would be anyone who looked as old as his Great Grandmother but this woman was making it a competition in his eyes. Would it be really rude to ask her age? He just needed a number for better comparison. No don't that would be an awful horrible idea. Maybe someone else will ask it, maybe she'll give a hint at her age?
Right anyways. This classroom felt so hot like it was Disney World in the summer or somewhere equally as hot. That kneazle looked like it might actually be cooking. "Hello, Professor." Mark gave her a small smile and went to the desks.
Mark set up camp at a desk not far from the front and took a moment to read the handwriting. No hint toward her age yet, only that old boney fingers probably couldn't hold onto chalk.
He wrote his name in block letters on the piece of paper and folded it as instructed.
A beaming smile rested on Dolly's face when her first student arrived. "Hello, dear," she replied as the boy went to find a desk. And so it began!

The fourth year stepped into the room and was immediately greeted with the stuffiness of a way-too-hot room. DEAR MERLIN. She was already shuffling around trying to remove her jacket as she looked up at the lady before her. "Hello, Professor Dopple," she said, making her way into the room. The professor looked like she was about to burst into flames of energy over this very class, but her kneazle looked like it had seen a better day. Poor thing.
Torii took a seat and set to work making her name tag. Or table tent. Whatever Dopple was calling it. She wrote her name as big as she could, just like the professor asked. Whatever makes her happ...ier.
As the next student entered the room and took off her jacket - see, this was why she kept the heat on! She didn't want anyone to get cold in here! "Hello there, sweetheart!" she said as the young girl found her seat.

Peeling off her sweater, she moved to one of the... middle desks towards the side, a bit more hesitant than before. "G'day professor!" Bel was EXCITED for a brand new professor. Not that she had any issue with Professor Marchand personally, it was more the CHARMS bit that was problematic for her, and maybe it was wishful thinking but if a new professor could somehow make one of her hardest subjects stick then that would be bonza! She had special permission to continue with Charms. And Transfiguration. And Defense Against the Dark Arts. The wandwork subjects basically. After having got only Ps on all her OWLs for those, maybe she should've just chucked it all in and given up. It was just that after all that Inferi business the term before last, she kind of felt that giving up was not the best of ideas. If she could learn a bit more, maybe just get some more of the basics under control, then at least she could finish school knowing she'd tried and done her best. She had better sit down yeah? Bel glanced around and then bagsed herself an empty spot, saving one seat for Derfael and then turning her attention to the instructions, the paper, the.... water? And also the kneazle. It was cute in an unfortunate kind of way.
And if she was to make a table tent, Bel felt that just a folded bit of paper wasn't QUITE enough. Carefully she tore off one thin long end of the paper and put it aside. Then she wrote her name as big as she could, and made the folded tent thing which was obviously so that the professor could see who they were. Big because of being old maybe? She had gone with just her first name, to maximize the bigness.
That done, she had the little paper name tent folded and up, hers slightly shorter than most cos of the bit she'd torn off.... which she now busied herself into making into a little paper campfire, with little paper flames. No ACTUAL fire involved -again, she didn't have the magical skill for that- but more... origami style. At least some semblance of it. Yep. That she put in 'front' of the tent at its 'entrance'. Entertaining herself and also maybe taking the tent thing a little too seriously. But still, her name was BIG on there. BEL. That was her. And definitely would be readable even to little old lady eyes right?
Noowww to bask more in the warmth. Niceeee.
A new energy filled the room when the next student entered and Dolly gave her a wave as well. "Good day to you too!" she replied cheerfully as she found her way. How lovely were these students?!

"Hello, professor." Ugh, she was already sweating as she sank into her seat.
Oh, wait. She had magic. She cast a cooling charm around her body and let out an "Ah!" as it went to work. Much better.
What was this on her desk? Oh, she had to make a nameplate. Now that the paper wasn't at risk of sticking to sweaty arms, that would be easy. She quickly scrawled her name and folded the paper like so, placing it towards the front. There. Now what?
"Hello, hello!" she chirped croaked cheerfully when the next student greeted her. Oh, they were just so darling! These young things, they were really going to help her stay HIP.

Another cheerful student made Dolly smile even more, if it were possible! "Good morning, my dear," she responded with a sickeningly sweet smile. She'd done it many times before in her muggle courses, so she was feeling quite good about Charms at this point.
At this point, it was time to extend a greeting to the professor. "Good morning, professor," Charlie greeted quite positively (as much as was possible on a school-day morning). The desks were starting to fill up, so she scanned the rows quickly for one that was empty. She then spotted an empty desk beside a gryffindor first-year (Harri) she could have sworn was named Henrietta (Charlie had perfect memory, of course).
"You're, um... Henrietta, right? I'm Charlie. It's a pleasure," she stated matter-of-factly, pulling a piece of parchment out of her satchel and folding it like a hot-dog. After itching at the back of her neck, he dipped a quill from the same satchel in a pot of ink and scribbled her name on the hot-dog:
Christ on a cracker, it was hot in here....
It was a good morning indeed! Dolly was quite ready and excited to get the lesson started, but she had a few more minutes to go and several more students needed to arrive first. "Good morning," she said cheerfully to the next who arrived, appreciating her positivity.

"Hello, Professor Dopple, I love the splash of color you added to the room!," Rylee chirped excited nodding her head towards the streamers. She was one of those that loved to add some color and her own style to things, like the purple ribbon that was braided into a small section of her hair today, courtesy of Anni during breakfast. Smiling at everyone she found herself an empty desk and sat down taking out all her things. It was only after she had her things out that she folded the parchment on her desk in half as instructed, dipped her unicorn quill into some brightly colored ink and wrote her name nice and large across the parchment.
Sitting the parchment up nicely on her desk, she sat back on her chair, feet swinging back and forth a little bit.

He entered the classroom giving the professor a small smile and nod in greet and took a seat somewhere in the middle glancing around to see whether there was anyone he recognised. Nope. He eyed what looked like a weird stuffed cat that was perched on the professors desk and wrinkled his nose. Was that necessary? His eyes moved to the board where the first lesson instructions were written. Name tags. How muggle. He scrawled his name in big enough handwriting for the old lady to read.
Caolan Wilson.
He hated writing down his name rather than pronouncing it. Everybody got it wrong, he’d heard them all. His personal favourite was Ka-oo-lan which was so wrong it made him chuckle every time someone said it. It worked both ways though, if he’d had a pound for every time he’d received Christmas cards from classmates who would spell his name incorrectly he would’ve been able to afford the football team he supported’s new kit by now.
He slumped in his seat and waited for the lesson to start.
Dolly wasn’t actually reading any of the name tents just yet, she just wanted them there for future reference. This boy was silent, but she gave him a wrinkled finger wave anyway.

Oh, because she wasn't Zoryn Spinnet today. She was Maxton Carden. Thank you, polyjuice! Max (aka Zoryn) walked into the classroom and looked around slightly nervously, passing their Professor because Maxton wasn't one for small talk and went to take a seat near the middle of the room like a true pro. Honestly, if being Maxton Carden was a job, Zoryn would've won a promotion on her first day.
Settling down, Max took out a quill and scrawled out her new his name.
After putting her his name plate in front of her him, she he took a look around the room. ALSKDFJAS;DLF.
UH. Yes, that is right. She did a full on DOUBLE TAKE at the sight of one (real) Maxton Carden (because she was going to give her best performance today, duh). IDENTITY THEFT IS NOT A JOKE, JIM!!!!!!!!
As another student walked in, Dolly gave him a wave and a smile, completely unaware that another student with the same face had just walked in a moment ago. ”Good morning, dear.” Lovely day, wasn’t it?

He managed to smile politely at the professor when he walked in, but only barely. The heat was frying his brain. Still, he sat at his desk and did as he was bid. Even scribbling down his name and folding the parchment on his desk.
Another silent student entered, and just in case he was in deep thought, Dolly didn’t try to interrupt him, but gave him a silent wave and a BIG toothy smile, displaying remnants of pink lipstick on her teeth.

Merlin!
But she was eager to meet the funny new professor, so she did smile at the old lady when she went to take a seat. "Hi, professor!" She said, finally reading what was on the board and following the instructions after getting some parchment, quill and ink pot out of her bag.

This new student seemed quite eager, and Dolly was glad to see it! Her whole body seemed to perk up when she said hello. ”Hello, dear!”

And today, Matthew, Józef Kowalski was Max Carden. And he was enjoying the extra height a lot. Even managed to convince a first year to lend him the right uniform, with some dodgy adjustments. He was in FULLL character and offered the Professor the slightest of looks before shuffling to a seat near the back.
Then he scribbled away on his parchment, looking around surreptitiously to see how the other Max's had written their names.
Because right now, he wasn't sure who was Max and who, well, wasn't.
Coping the writing of the two other!Max's, Jó put his parchment tent up and then turned around to scowl in the direction of the people who were THE SAME PERSON AS HIM?!?!!
When the third Max walked into the room, Dolly was... still clueless. To her it was just another silent, brooding student. It seemed quite a popular choice to be silent and brooding these days. Nevertheless, she gave him a wave and a smile.

This year, her seventh year, when she really needed to be a whole new person to actually get grades on her NEWTs her parents wouldn't sign at. She needed to be Max Carden.
So that's who she was today. She shuffled into class the way she'd practised with Zoryn, head ducked, back slouched as though she couldn't hide well enough inside her newly-expanded robes. She didn't even greet the professor beyond a little nod, because that's what Max Carden would do, and as rehearsed, took a seat next to a Max Carden.
Because she was sure Max Carden would do that if he had the chance.
She just hoped this was the right Max Carden (read: the Zoryn!Max) that she was with, but if it wasn't, well, this should still be fun. Probably. Also, was it hot in her or what? It was really too bad Max Carden didn't have enough hair to tie into a ponytail because some of it was sticking to Faith's Max's neck and it was highly uncomfortable.
She rubbed the back of her neck (because that seemed like something Max would do) and then glanced around as discreetly as she could, and noticed that they had name card tents. She had pretty terrible handwriting but she was sure it wouldn't be distinguishable from the Real Max by a new teacher, right? So she made herself a name tent, with her fake new name.
Then seeing two of the three other Maxes currently in class fixing each other with looks, she joined in the staring competition. Which Max was the real Max? The one next to her? Or the one across the room?
DUN DUN DUN.
The fourth Max entered the room, immediately right after the last, and Dolly Dopple had not a clue. He sure did have bad posture though, didn’t he? But that was all she noticed, you see. When you’re old and your eyes get worse and worse throughout the years, you just stop going to the eye doctor!

"What is happening?" he questioned aloud, either to himself or the boy next to him or really anyone who could answer that. He wasn't completely sure. And that's what happened during fever dreams, right? You hallucinated?
Wiping off the beads of sweat already starting to form across his brow, he finally tore his eyes away from the multiple Maxes to see the directions on the board. He supposed he could do that, and he printed his name largely before folding the parchment into a table tent. He might have wondered about the liquid on his desk if he wasn't so distracted.
See, and there was another silent one! Dolly gave him a wave - and, well, no he wasn’t silent after all. He asked a question instead of saying hello. What was happening? Dolly blinked at the boy, confused, completely oblivious to the clones in the room. ”Well, you’re in Charms class, my boy. Are you feeling alright?” Did he forget where he was?

Ok, ok. She composed herself, which was really hard to do, believe her, and entered the classroom. She then gave the Professor the slightest of acknowledgements before scanning the classroom for a good place to s- OH, LOOK AT ALL THE MAXES. Don't laugh, don't laugh, don't laugh. Phew. Clearing her throat in what she hoped was a discreet, Max-like manner, she took a seat a couple of places in front of another Max. Tessa made eye contact with one of the Maxes and glanced down at their name tag. She could definitely replicate that.
There.
She was Max and she had a name tag to prove it.
The fifth Max entered and Dolly looked at him with a look of surprise. ”You, my boy! You look quite familiar - have we met before?” Perhaps he was a great-great-great grandson of hers or something.

Right? Maxie stared at the one to the left of him. Yeah, quadruplets. It made sense and that was a miracle in itself at this school. Um.
Now that the young boy had rationalized thing he put his mind back on the very simple task Professor Dopple had given them.
There. He folded it in half, careful to make the bend nice and precise, and then placed the little tent dead-center on his desk.
..... There was another one now.. what was the word for five kids?
This boy sort of looked confused, but Dolly hoped he would be alright once the class started. Charms wasn’t too confusing!

Looking towards the front she could see Professor Dopple waiting for everyone to arrive. She gave a polite wave as she made her way towards one of the desks near the front of the classroom, "Good morning Professor!" After getting settled her eyes glanced down at the blank name tag before quickly scribbling down her name on it.
Time for class yet? Hm? Yes?
Another eager spirit entered the room and Dolly gave the girl a big smile. ”Good morning to you!” she replied in a similar tone. This was going swimmingly!

But then again, maybe that meant the old lady wouldn't know good magic from bad and she'd get an O on her NEWT...
With thoughts of scamming her way through Charms, Natalie entered the classroom and felt the heat hit her like a brick wall. Merlin, it was hot! Shedding her coat, Natalie found a seat next to her friend Vita and sat down beside her. "Hi," she said with a grin towards the girl as she got her book out.
Seeing her little name tent, Natalie looked up at the board and saw some instructions. Some very... illegible instructions. But seeing as though everyone else had done the same thing, Natalie got out a piece of paper and did the same.
Natalie McKinley
Placing the tent on her desk, Natalie was just about to say something to Vita when she saw Max pass by. Which wasn't an odd thing (though she was proud of him for coming to class), but she had sworn she had already seen him in the back of the class, so she did a double take... and another. And then looked at the Max over there... and then another Max over there... and another???
"What the..."
This young girl greeted only her friend, but that was just fine. Her friend was quite pretty anyway, so Dolly didn’t mind. Still, she greeted her with a warm smile in case she chose to greet her.

Streamers and a cat that didn’t look too well was what he made out as he moved again, this time to find a seat.
“Good morning, Professor.” Seated, he took out his textbook and supplies before getting to work on the instructions on the board. A few strokes of his quill and folds of the paper and there was a name tag at the edge of his workspace claiming it and him as one
No matter what the boy was thinking, his greeting was polite and proper and Dolly appreciated it. ”Good morning, my boy,” she said in reply as he found his seat.

Kind of like that Kneazle on the desk.

This school was really one thing after another.
She shook her head, and wrote her name onto the parchment, before making it into a little tent. There. Hopefully the lesson would go on soon. She couldn't deal with being here longer than she had to be. Especially when her fellow peers were such idiots.
Another young girl entered the room and Dolly was just about to say hello when she heard her say something under her breath that she couldn’t quite make out. ”What was that, my dear?” Do speak up, Dolly was quite old.

Lucas blinked. Multiple times. Lots of blinking as he looked at the...... five? clones. Yeah, five. There were FIVE versions of that one Slytherin Prefect. Confused? You bet he was. He walked over to a desk, a little slower than he would've as he took a proper look at all the same faces. Was this some kind of prank for the new Professor? Or were they all part of a secret fan club and, uh, this was their way of showing it? Dressing up like their idol??
Lucas didn't know and, as he reached the desk, he realised that maybe, he shouldn't ask. Instead, he sat down and started writing his name as big as he could make it:
There. Folding it in half, he set the little tent down on the desk before looking around at the classroom at anywhere but the five Prefects or the dead kneazle at the front. Which, uh, turned out to be difficult but he tried. His eyes found the cup on his desk and the streamers up on the ceiling and.....
....... was it him or was it hot in here? Like, really hot.
This time, it had nothing to do with how he was feeling. It was hot in here.
Odd.
Well, Dolly was beginning to grow quite nervous! Perhaps she had her work cut out for her! All these students seemed so lost and confused! She would have to start from scratch and teach them all EVERYTHING. ”Hello dear...” she said hesitantly.

"Hello, hello!" He was here! Ready to learn something................ Huh. Aaron blinked a few times, slowly. There were many Maxs in class today... One of these things was not like the others. Forget the professor. Forget the kneazle of questionable longevity. Forget the welcoming warmth. All Derf saw was a plethora of Maxton Cardens and one of them looking absolutely shocked and, perhaps, even a little in horror.
So Maxton, the real Maxton, did not know...meaning there had been no consent to change into him. His brain wanted, desperately, to write this off as some advanced transfigurations...but he knew better. This was Polyjuice Potion and Derfael Mitchell Ashburry-Hawthorne was not here for it. Being tied up by Levi Kenning in the library to have a chit chat after polyjuicing into him as a third year had left QUITE the impression on Derf. He had learned some very important lessons then, namely to think about and be prepared to take ownership of the consequences of your actions. And then last term, learning that he had been LIVING (literally) with professors who had polyjuiced into unknown teenagers for months and everything that came with this...no one could blame him for being sensitive to this.
No one.
Taking a VERY tentative step into the classroom, Derf found one TINY glimmer of hope in this storm brewing inside his chest. "Will we be working on the more advanced used of Revelio today, professor?" he inquired, loudly. His tone on edge and a bit dangerous sounding. Because he was ready to use that charm on the Maxton that was looking the most pleased with itself.
Another student walked in and Dolly immediately offered him a bright cheery smile. Expecting one in return, Dolly was quite surprised when she was greeted with... a loud question. Revelio? Advanced? Well, perhaps this boy was the only one who wasn’t confused! Perhaps he wanted to take advanced lessons!
”Why no, my dear, we are not. Why do you ask? Oh! I could offer you some advanced lessons, if you’d like!” How strange.

Not that she had anything against the new Charms professor. The woman almost reminded her of her grandmother, although not exactly. She was grandmotherly, anyhow.
The other thing that she hadn’t expected as she’d arrived was to find the Charms classroom resembling the sauna her grandparents back in Iceland had near their house, minus all the wood paneling. It was positively toasty in the classroom. The other comparison that had flickered through her mind was the thought that maybe this was what it was like for the cookies she made whenever she had free time when they were in the ovens to bake. Either way, it was a crystal clear difference from the temperature out in the corridor, and she tried to figure out how to adjust to the change. Taking her robe off seemed like a god idea, but for now she decided to just see if she adjusted to the heat without shedding uniform layers. At least she hadn’t put her sweater on yet.
The presence of nearly half a dozen versions of the male Slytherin prefect had definitely caught her attention, too, but she kept her reaction to a bit of a double-take instead of saying anything aside from her usual greeting to the professors. Now that they weren’t dealing with those from last term who didn’t think a greeting was respectful. “Good day, Professor Dopple,” she said with a smile, taking her seat at an open desk and eyeing the cup before clearly writing her name on the paper.
Once she’d finished writing, she folded the paper and stood it up as the instructions requested. Hopefully she’d written clear enough.

And when the last student walked in, Dolly didn’t register any reluctance or snarkiness at all! But how polite was she! ”Good morning, dearest!” She was just so lucky to get polite students!
After the last student had walked through the door, Dolly checked her watch (that she was too blind to read) and clapped her wrinkly hands together, her wrinkly, saggy arm flab flapping around as a result. ”Good MORNING, my lovely, wonderful, young and beautiful students! Welcome to Charms Class!” Her high pitched scratchy voice echoed through the room as the last few students got settled into their seats and set up their name tents.
”I want you all to stay nice and warm, so just let me know if you get too cold, alright?” she asked seriously, her big eyes widening to look at all her darling students. It was only 700 degrees in there, after all!
She clapped her hands together again to indicate that she was going to begin the lesson. Surely they knew what that meant. ”Now, why don’t we begin with a little brainstorming activity! We want to get your brains CHURNING! Don’t we!” Hopefully they all ate their breakfast this morning like she had told them to!
”I want you aaaaaall to think about some little things that happen in life that are just annoying! Something irritating! Like...” Dolly’s face wrinkled up (even more than normal) as she thought to herself. Then she suddenly jumped, her pointer finger aggressively pointing towards the ceiling as if a lightbulb had turned on. ”Oh! I just hate it when it gets all windy and my hair poofs up!” She had spent some good money on her perms, after all.
”Go ahead,” she continued ”and brainstorm some little things that you wish could be fixed by a simple charm. OR, give me a charm that DOES fix something irritating like that. Raise your hands!”
OOC: Class has officially begun! As you can see, Dolly is OLD AS HECK and has no idea that there are seven thousand Max Cardens. Please RP some responses to this! It could be quite fun to see what you come up with! Just for clarification, Dolly wants you all to come up with something that bothers your student that could be easily fixed with a charm (ie bluebell flames when you’re cold). This can be something that DOES or DOES NOT already have a charm for. Class will move on in about 24 hours.

It was... almost a challenge to accept Professor Dopple's enthusiasm for life. Even Hanna's youngest sister wasn't that enthused about ice cream, her favourite food in the world. She told herself that it was perfectly fine for Professor Dopple to be excited, and happy. She was on the older side of life, and no doubt she'd been through things. Perhaps her enthusiasm would encourage her to let go of her own cynicism. Maybe. It was hard to be around the woman without feeling at least somewhat happy.
And there was no way any of them would get cold. No way. They weren't lizards. But she knew some of her older relatives needed it to be warmer, help to warm their joints and keep them moving. Perhaps Professor Dopple had stiff joints too?
She noticed the amount of MAX name tags in the classroom... and the number of Maxes. But what the heck!?
But really, what was going on? Something, surely. But what?
Turning her attention back to Professor Dopple, feeling most confused, she raised her hand. "It annoys me to have hair tickling my face, but there's a sticky charm I'm sure would work to get the hair off my face."

And that was all the confirmation the seventh year needed. That and her not even noticing the number of Maxtons in the room...and suddenly his heart sank into his stomach and he felt sick. Partly the thought of this whole polyjuice situation and partly because right now he actually MISSED those heinous black journals from last term. He could just pull it out right now, write about this, and then wait for the headmaster to see it. But no, instead he had to compromise his education a little - and it would be a LOT of compromising if he stayed - to leave his things behind and leave the classroom for a bit.
Hopefully...the woman wouldn't even notice.
"I'd actually like that, professor," he nodded. In response to the advanced lessons. He could use them, honestly, and despite circumstances it WAS kind of her to offer.
As to her question, well, his one upon arrival summed it all up well. Thing he wished he could fix with a simple charm? People transforming into others without their consent. Solution? Revelio. But Derf, shaky as he was, was not upset enough to start blasting spells at his classmates. He also didn't trust his aim when he was trying to fight some spiraling going on inside his head.
So, setting his things down by the desk he fully intended on sitting in once this was all dealt with, Derf quickly and quietly slipped out of the classroom and whispered to the nearest student that he just needed a bit of air, room felt stuffy. You know, in case Professor Dopple noticed and asked.
Or something.

Daisy was trying hard not to laugh at the abundance of Maxton's that were currently in the room. Then she noticed how peaky Derf looked. When he whispered to her that he needed fresh air, Daisy nodded and watched anxiously as he departed.
Daisy thought about Professor Dopple's question and soon raised her hand. "I tend to misplace items at times so using the Summoning Charm is handy so I don't have to waste time and effort looking for the lost items."

Merlin, it was so hot in here Cordelia was sure that the insulin in her pump would go bad from the excessive heat. All health concerns aside, this much heat was terrible for everyone. How could anyone concentrate like this? This kind of heat was only meant for outdoors in the summer. Surely this woman was out of her mind suggesting to make it warmer in here. ”I’m actually finding it quite toasty in here.” You know, just to make sure the professor knew everyone was warm enough. Could that lady even hear anything? Cordelia was surprised the school let anyone that old teach classes, much less take them on as new hires. The school must have been really desperate to find a charms professor. What could possibly have brought this old lady out of retirement? Professor Dopple did seem nice though, despite everything else about her.
As for things that irritated her, a few things came to mind. ”I have type 1 diabetes and I wish my stupid pancreas would make its own insulin.” Alas, diabetes wasn’t the sort of thing that could be easily fixed with a charm. Stupid dead pancreas. Cordelia never let it stop her from doing anything, but everything would be so much easier if she didn’t have to be worried about her blood sugar every minute of the day. She barely remembered life without diabetes though. Moving on. What were they going to learn in class today? From the question the professor had asked, it sounded like they were probably learning some sort of basic but useful charm that could be used in everyday situations.
He had assumed things about this class far too quickly - because nope - it was certainly not going to be drag when 7 thousand Max were now in class. It was highly amusing. Even more so because their very very old professor was completely clueless.
Were they supposed to act just as clueless?
Yes.
As for her question? What did he find irritating?

The enthusiasm was definitely…interesting. That and Stasya was fairly certain that the professor hadn’t noticed the fact that Max had apparently gained a lot of clones. Considering the revelation that the (formerly) fired professors had infiltrated the school with the use of Polyjuice Potion last term, she’d determined that the sight of so many Maxes had to be some sort of prank. Just, she wasn’t entirely sure who was the target. She felt like it was either the Slytherin prefect or the professor, but neither made sense. Especially when Professor Dopple hadn’t even acknowledged the oddness. Maybe it was just because she was maybe a bit odd herself, not that it was unexpected given the circumstances.
She really wasn’t concerned about feeling cold. Honestly, the opposite seemed more likely. She half-expected someone to suffer heatstroke or something, and she’d glanced in Derf’s direction with concern as he’d whispered something to Daisy before slipping out of the classroom. Hopefully it wasn’t too worrisome.
“Hot Air charms work if you get caught in a rainstorm unexpectedly. I also use heating charms a lot during the winter so I don’t get too cold,” she offered, applying herself to the second part of the question more so than the annoyance part. Lately her main annoyance had been all the rules last term and how half of them conflicted with the others anyway, not to mention the censorship of the mail that she figured was over with now. Most of the rules seemed to have disappeared too.

Why were a bunch of people looking the same? There were about five people who looked the same! Oh good lord, what in the name of Merlin's baggiest pants was happening??
Kaira shook her head slightly to check if she was going mad or something. She definitely wasn't. This was someone's idea of a prank. Okay, maybe this was going to be fun, she thought, slightly amused.
'I get annoyed when sometimes edge of my robes get wet when I've to cross a puddle or a swamp or something like that..I suppose a hot air charm could help..,' she said.

Err..
Was anyone else seeing this?
The fifteen-year-old blinked in the direction of the numerous Slytherin prefects entirely confused as to whether this was all part of the lesson plan or some weird practical joke. I mean, surely the professor would notice that something was amiss and it would result in punishment for those involved?
Nope. Apparently not.
The lesson progressed without a hitch and Caolan tried to listen without being distracted by the clones or the creepy cat/kneazle thing on the professors desk. The professor was old but surely she could see SOMETHING?! As for her question, now that was an easy one to answer. He raised his hand. “I’d like to be able to cool down quickly when its far too hot in a room”.
”I want you aaaaaall to think about some little things that happen in life that are just annoying! Something irritating! Like...” Dolly’s face wrinkled up (even more than normal) as she thought to herself. Mirlin this woman was annoying! After taking her seat, Skyler listened to what the woman had to say. Afterwords, she raised her hand, her annoyance taking over her fear.
"How about a charm to tone down your annoying voice? Because frankly, you're treating us aaaallll like children," Skyler said moking the professor's voice.
"While we're at it, how about a cooling charm? It feels like we're being baked like chickens."

Okay Derf wasn't joining her for some reason... in fact Bel watched him actually LEAVE the classroom, still entirely oblivious about what was going on in the Max department, so when Chloe sat down (which was welcome, and she got a smile from Bel), she was PUZZLED by the pointed look, and that she apparently had to do something? Wait what? Was the... head girl trying to... discipline her about something? What had she DONE? Did Chloe not like Bel's little origami (flameless) campfire?? "Do something about what?" Baffled. The Australian was baffled.

How lovely was this professor??? She kind of had grandma vibes, Bel thought. Which was nice because Bel's only living grandparent was veeeery far away, and veeeeeery muggle, so it was kind of tough sometimes not being able to share certain aspects of her life. Basically, whether Bel knew it or not, she was in the MARKET for a grandmother figure, so she was CHARMED by the charms professor and smiled happily, still not noticing a single thing about a single other thing, especially not the fact that there were multiple editions of her boyfriend currently in the room.
And actually it was a tough question for Bel. She wasn't easily annoyed to begin with, except by the fact that.... "Professor, I'm annoyed that simple and easy charms are annoyingly tough for me, but there isn't really a charm to make charms easier." She said, hand up.
Probably also she could do with a charm to increase her powers of observation, today anyway.

Zoryn slumped into her chair, the way Max did when he was tired (which was all the time for some reason). If there was one downside here, it was that she had to wear trousers seeing as being a convincing Max would be much harder whilst wearing a skirt. And man, the heat was GETTING to her. She was sweating in all sorts of places that she had never sweat before. Because she was a BOY.
Still, Max 2.0, had a show to put on and so he looked around the classroom in all sorts of horror. Honestly, who was the real Max here? And why was (faith!)Max sitting next the other Max???
This was panning out SO much better than she thought it would. Honestly, the world kept blessing her and ultimately, even Zoryn knew she wasn’t deserving of it.
And yes, she did see EVERYONE’S reactions to the 5 Maxes and it was glorious. A large part of her wanted nothing more than to laugh, but even Zoryn!Max knew better than that. And so, instead of laughing, this Max S C O W L E D. In HORROR. Confusion. ASLKDFJA;DSFKLJASDF.
The best part was that Professor Dopple was too old to even notice. THIS WAS BRILLIANT.
“Soggy socks,” was her contribution because that’s something the real Max would say… Right???
BUT SHE WAS STILL LOOKING BACK AND FORTH BETWEEN ALL THE MAXES !!!! IN S H O C K.
Also, guess who didn't notice Derf leaving the room? This Max.

First things first, wearing shorts and a t-shirt in this room? Best decision he’d ever made because damn was it hot in here, even for him. Second, either the heat was making him hallucinate or he was seeing several Max’s. Was he? No. Really? No! Okay he was. Leaning to the person next to him, he whispered “Am I seeing things or is there several Max’s here?” gesturing to a few of them.
Hesitating for a second as the prehistoric dinosaur addressed the class, he couldn’t help but smirk a little. What was holding this woman together? Because spell-o-tape was pretty good but not this good. Okay. Okay. Something that he could easily change. Well, right now? He wouldn’t mind having some ice cream. Or a milkshake! Yes. Strawberry! “Uh, I’m a little warm so I guess it would be nice to have a milkshake right now. Maybe I could Accio one to me from the kitchens?” He knew that there would need to be one near but he could always ask a house elf to make one and then he could just summon one to him. Aha, now that would be the life!
Or….”How about for eye sight? I mean, if I had bad eye sight. Like you know, if I couldn’t see everything in front of me…” pausing for a second. He continued “I mean, I don’t know how to solve it but…it could really be relevant in life today. You know…because some people can’t see very well” At this point, he really did have to try his hardest not to break out laughing, instead settling on an innocent smile.

She...was offering to make it even more warm in here? Vita felt faint at the thought and it was official, behind that adorable old lady exterior, this woman was trying to kill them. Not a fan Actually, could she make a paper fan? She was fairly sure hot flashes were happening even though she was much too young for such things.
...
This woman's old age was rubbing off on her!
... ...Okay no, she was just a little loopy from lack of fresh air, that was it.
There was also the fact that their professor hadn't seemed to notice that one of her students had been cloned numerous times, another distraction taking away from this lesson and causing Vita to feel like she was hallucinating things. This was not how she expected class to go.
...what had the question even been again?
"Charms that aid with finding lost items are extremely useful and save you lots of trouble and annoyance."

Riiight. Gee, she didn't know. If she he had the same face as about five of them there, how would a mere first year know she was talking to the one called Charlie...whose subconscious name was Max? But Harri nodded nonetheless, offering a small albeit confused smile. "It's okay to be embarrassed, Charlie. Don't worry about it." There. Wasn't she nice? "Um. I have a question though. Are those all your brothers?" She asked, glancing quickly at all the other person in the classroom who eerily looked like her him. She was CuRIOuS.
But Professor Dopple didn't seem to mind having quintuplets in her class. Maybe they really WERE brothers? ....How COOL!
And it was only in that small amount of time that Harri's attention had shifted. From being discombobulated at all the identical-looking older students to bouncing on her seat as she raised her hand to answer the very old woman's question. "Ugh, I really hate how I can't comprehend directions, Professor. North, south, east, west, I'm bad at them." She had a track record for being lost on numerous occasions. Her brother called her directionally challenged. Was there a charm for that? She didn't know. And if there was, she needed to learn it pronto.

"I appreciate it. Brain fart, you know...." Harri was the nicest. Charlie (who is not yet aware that she's a Max) offered up a sheepish smile in return to her compatriot's.
Brothers? Now Charlie was the confused one.... She didn't have ANY siblings, and even if she did, they weren't wizards, seeing as she was a muggleborn. She scratched the back of her neck -- both out of confusion and due to the fact that it was actually quite itchy -- and was shocked to not feel any hair (her normal hair was just past shoulder length). A pesky elf must've cut her hair in the middle of the night....
"You must be mistaken, Harri, coz I don't have any brothers... and even if I did, I'm a muggleborn, so they wouldn't be here...," she stated matter-of-factly, no rancor at all, as she genuinely had no idea that she was a he -- not just any he, but a Max Carden!he. She didn't even know a Max Carden (she did know a tree boy, on account of DADA, though).
Looking around, though, she did have one thing to say that might answer Harri: "It is weird how eerily similar some of the people in here look, though." She might have the same name as them now, but did she look like them?! Not a chance....
Well, if Professor Dopple wanted them to be nice and warm, she had certainly succeeded, as unaware Max!Charlie was sweating bullets. She was really nice, though, so the first year Ravenclaw didn't mind too much.
Brainstorming! Charlie could do that just fine. She thought for a good minute about what she (not a he!Max Carden at all) would want a simple charm to fix something mundane... and she had the perfect answer.
"Well, Professor, I hate it when I state my clothes with ink or food or anything like that... so a simple charm that could lift various stains would be fabulous," Charlie replied confidently, grinning at Professor Dopple.
