Patrick walked down to the quidditch field. He couldn’t believe this term it was him who was going to be making the big decisions. Like of all the people they could have chosen for the job they picked him. With a smile that even the new Headmaster couldn’t bring him down. He was going to get his team going and they were going to win the cup this year he could just feel it.

A few things were laid out amongst the quidditch balls and he knew he was ready to see what his housemates were capable of. Taking a deep breath he began to wait.

OOC: Hi all like states above this will stay open until the 18th of September. Post your characters coming down to the field and what not we’ll move on Around September 8 at 9pm est if not then by September 9 at that same time. Oh and please mention or title your post with what position you want.

Finally.

Ever since he had reached Hogwarts, Zachary had been waiting for this particular day and it was finally here.

His broom was firm in his hand as he walked down the Quidditch field. A broom his father had gifted him when he had won his first match, a match he had played a brilliant chaser at - a position he wanted today, a position he would fight for - all this and more, and he was smiling from ear to ear as he approached the current Slytherin captain, and gave him a small nod in greeting, "beautiful morning, yeah?"

This beautiful morning when nothing but Quidditch mattered.

It was time for tryouts!! Skyler grinmed as she showed up, she out of three students was the only one there. Yay! She was early! Her parents finally let her have a broom so of course she had to at least try to tey out. It wasn't much. Just a nimbus 2000 but hey, better then nothing.
Haha. Puns. She waved when she saw Patrick next to the quidditch equipment.
"Hey!" She smiled.

Sure, she was there, and yes she still thought that the new head dictator was going to cancel quidditch…it was after all the easiest way to make the entire school comply…except, she wasn’t going to comply not in the least bit. ”…’morning” she smiled over toward Patrick and then to the other attendants there.

”congratulations on getting captain Patrick,” she told him with a bright-eyed smile while she made her way over near the new captain. Sitting down on the ground she began to stretch even though her limbs were likely already limber due to the whole running all the time thing.

Today was the day he would prove to others that he has what it takes to be a full-time seeker. He was not going to hold himself back from having the position for himself. He played chaser and temporary seeker last term, didn't he? If people knew him, he would never settle for second place. Nathan hoped for the team to get GOLD this term. He walked to the Quidditch pitch with his broom, approaching the captain and the others.

"Hello everyone. Hope your brooms are in their best conditions." He greeted the team with a smile. Dooley, Lowe, Skylar and Ana seemed to be the first to reach. Hmm, he wondered where were the rest?

In his mind, Nathan wasn't going to back down just because they were friends and what not. No more of the drama he had with Fairfield last year. He was determined to let everyone know that he wasn't joking around. This time, it was for real.

Skyler smiled when Nathan showed up.
"Yeah, yours too," Skyler said to Nathan.
She liked her broom, even if it was an older model, meh.

Ryder almost had a bounce in his step as he made his way down to the pitch with his recently polished broom, a smug smile plastered onto his face. He'd been looking forward to this day since the first day of term, and nothing had gotten in the way of their tryouts from taking place. It was simply the bright-side to this...change...they'd been experiencing. And this time, he was going to make it on the team.

Or die trying.

"Sup?" he nodded his head to everyone who was already there.

Lucas felt almost silly for trying out. He wasn't like...an expert quidditch player. But he was in shape, he was decent at flying...and why not? Even if he got reserves he'd be happy to be a part of something. After all, the dance crew THAT BAYLEN LEFT HIM IN CHARGE OF wasn't by house...so no house spirit involved in that. And he wanted that house spirit okay?

Some people were here already! He felt a little shy even if he knew everyone. It was his second year here! He could DO THIS. YOU CAN DO THIS CHOI. The red-haired boy smiled shyly at everyone.

"Hey. The weather IS nice." He commented and nodded, his broom slung over his shoulder. He'd been having a broom...just hadn't ever brought it to Hogwarts before now. "Great day for the ole'......quidditch yeah?" He was trying to seem cool. Was it working yet???????

Patrick’s eyes tracked the first to arrive. He took note of the broom in his hand and felt a sense of ease wash over him. Someone had actually showed up. He was thrilled, but it shouldn’t feel like that great of an accomplishment considering if his housemates wanted to play they would have to show up. But deep inside he was worried that his cohorts would vacillate about whether or not to try out at all. Yet here was the first student. His smile reached his eyes. “Absolutely, good to see you out here….” he paused cause he couldn’t remember the guys name to save his, ah there it was, “Zachary right?” he was terrible with names he was going to have to get better at it.

Patrick nodded a hello at Skyler as she walked closer to himself and the other student who he now remembered as Zachary. “Hello there Skyler. Good to see you trying out.” He took note of her proud smile regarding the broom in her hand, he’d have to ask her if it was a gift and if she liked it because he loved talking about that kind of stuff with people. Taking a quick peek at his watch he noticed the students had another fifteen minutes until they all had to be there.

Another player was walking down to the pitch, he noticed she had an air of confidence, yet he felt an energy off of her that he wasn’t sure what it was. The second year smiled at him, “Morning Ana.” He was turning back toward the others to strike up conversation when he heard the congratulations. “Oh! Thanks. It took me by surprise but I’m so grateful to have this opportunity.” He hoped that she wouldn’t take that the wrong way.

Just as he was about to strike up some conversation one of the guys he had brushed elbows with earlier in the term came into view. He watched him closely to see what he was going to do because his walk said I’m captain, yet Patrick knew it was truly him who was captain. But now he had a slight fear of his position being taken away. Shaking his head he began to cross his arms as Nate asked if everyone’s brooms were in their best conditions. That was his concern but he would handle that when and if Nate made the team. “Good to see you made it Nate” He turned away before his new found confidence had a chance to rear its ugly head.
His dorm mate came sauntering down to the pitch with some much needed pep in his step. He was glad to see he was up and ready to go today, unlike that first day of SORE. He swore he was going to have to drag Ryder by his toes to get him to make it to the pitch that morning, “sup dormie” he nodded his head back relaxing his crossed arms.

The newest addition to the field got a strange look from Patrick. To Patrick it felt like he was trying so hard to be cool when he figured he would be cool just by being himself, “Welcome, great day for quidditch, you’re right.” He watched the pitch waiting for any stragglers to join the field.


Seeing no others arriving yet he figured he’d set them off on a warm up. “Alright friends. Before we begin, obviously I’m Patrick Dooley. I’ll be leadin’ ya’ll for this year’s quidditch season. To start we’re going to fly a few laps around the pitch, feel free to go about it in whatever fashion you desire. Just get comfortable with today’s weather. After we’re going to go ahead and get some stretching in since I don’t want any injuries. Any questions?”

OOC: go ahead and join if you are late, just act like you’ve been here all along or not your choice.

Nathan quirked an eyebrow briefly at the captain. Dooley seemed as though he was judging his stance in the team. Hmm. Perhaps it's better to keep the captain on his toes. Or better yet, he should remind Dooley that he wasn't the competition here. Nathan had no interest to become a replacement captain or seeker again. He had a bigger goal in mind. "Likewise, Patrick. The team counts on you to lead them well, can't wait for you to show us your gameplans."

Nathan gave Skyler a quick nod of acknowledgement. He hasn't known her well, but he hoped she would be a great addition to the team.

He turned around to examine the others who made it into the try-outs. Ah...more young players joining this term. Nathan stayed quiet, leaning against his broom. As if, almost bored. He rather observes them showing their skills in the air than their appearances on the ground. He had no interest whatsoever in their lives outside this Quidditch pitch.

Finally, its time to fly.

"Nope." No questions. Nathan mounted his broomstick and kicked off from the ground. Leaning his body forward, he zoomed fast and high past the Quidditch stands.

Glancing to the older Slytherin who arrived just after him, Ryder knitted is brows together momentarily as he turned back to their captain. None of this awkward small talk. THIS was the kind of exercise he could get behind and he was hyped for it, so they should start. Crossing his arms, he held his broom close to him, eyeing everyone up as instructions were given.

He wasn't the tallest in the group, but whatev. Still liked his chances. Given the go-ahead to start flying, Ryder wasted no time mounting his broom and pushing off from the ground, heading in whatever direction no one else was going.

What questions.

Zachary had no questions about quidditch or how what worked, he was however very curious about this tension between Patrick and Nate.

"Is yours?" Zachary casually retorted when Nate spoke. "Because I think it clearly needs a polish" he added, as he mounted his own broom. Whatever this tension was, it thoroughly amused him, and he just hoped that Nate would somehow made a fool of himself. It would be great entertainment, after all.

However, not really waiting for a reply from Nate or anyone else for that matter, the fifteen year old pushed off the ground.

Cool! All they had to do was fly around for right now. Lucas could DO that! He hopped on his broom and took off into the FRESH. AIR. His red hair flared out behind him. DID HE LOOK LIKE A FLAME? He hoped so. He leaned a little forward to go faster, doing enormous laps around the pitch. Flying was FUN and even if Lucas had never played quidditch before, he enjoyed FLYING so there.

His nerves were left on the ground for now. He was feeling slightly shy with all the other blokes. Hey...speaking of blokes.... WHY WERE NO GIRLS TRYING OUT??? Lucas thought an all male team would be kinda weird and...all that masculine nonsense going on? This Dooley character seemed like he already had a little bit of that going on.

OH WAIT THERE WAS A GIRL! SKYLER! Lucas smiled as he finished a third lap, glad to be flying it right now and not running it like in the morning. His face felt a little windburnt BUT OH WELL.

Skyler shook her head. Nope. She didn't have any questions so far. And if she did, meh. What ever. Skyler mountes her broom stick and started off flying, slowly at first, but not too slow or fast, just enough to get her barings. The broom took easy turns wobbling a bit as she continued.
"Hey, I'm not even THAT nervous," Skyler said to rhe broom. As if it heard her, it began to stabolize. She smiled and leaned forward a bit as she started to speed up and get onto the path with the others.

Beth looked over to Patrick for a moment, a slight air of confusion on her face….was the Gryffindor captain there? Really? Wait, no….he was looking at her.

”I’m happy for you,” she smiled as she decided not to correct him at this time. Looking over to Skyler she just smiled and glanced at all of the other attendees…oh hey. Choi was there! ”Hey Lucas, are you trying for Chaser like Chase?” she asked excitedly as she turned to listen to Dooley’s instructions.

Right.

Flying.

She got that, that was easy – easier than running the pitch. Grabbing her broom and hovering it she pulled herself onto it with ease. ”you’re going to do great Skyler.” Beth smiled at the only somewhat older girl – really, she was very nearly 13 herself. VERY nearly.

Pushing off she leaned into her broom and took off. Slowly at first, picking up speed as she went. ”I LOVE THIS” she called out careful not to catch a fly in her mouth this year.

Nathan Hale's broomstick was one of the finest in his array of collection! Top-notch and quite expensive, he daresay. "Clearly need a polish...he says. Perhaps the one that needed polishing is his attitude. What does he know about the finest quality of brooms?" He mocked back inside his head.

Then again, Lowe reminded so much of himself back in the day. He /almost/ shed a tear how proud he was to have a mini-me. No doubt this kid could be an asset to the house's name.

Let's see if he still find everything amusing once he got his tush thrown off his broom. He too...sincerely hoped Lowe would be great entertainment to him as well. Perhaps he'll learn to spell 'r.e.s.p.e.c.t' and meaning along the way?

Nathan kept his broom steady as he fly around the pitch once more.

As Skyler got hwr bearings in better, she ataeted picking up speed a bit as she turned a corner and continued on.She knew how to fly, it was just weird flying ob anything but a cleansweep. Skyler turned another corner and met up with Beth.
"What are you going to try out for?" Skyler asked.
She wanted to br a chaser, her eyes weren't sharp enough and her reflexes were too slow to be the seaker.

Patrick watched as everyone took off. He was still super nervous. I mean could you really blame him? He was freaking out, this was a big deal for him he really wanted to win the Quidditch cup and have his name go down in history. He was really hoping that he could. He watched as the people from his house began to try out. It looked like a good crowd of people.

A few looked shaky or nervous, and some were so over confident he prayed that they began to simmer down. He watched a second longer and then grabbed his own broom to take a few laps around the field. He was hoping that his potential teammates would like his idea for tryouts. He would have loved something like that if he was trying out. Letting the air flow through his hair he enjoyed the few minutes before he would have to add his captain pants again.

Taking a deep breath he stopped on the ground and looked around at the players he had waiting for them to land again. If they didn't land soon he would just get their attention. No harm making punishments at this point.

OOC: Hey you all. this is kind of an interaction/almost move on post. We'll be moving on in about 24 hours tell your slytherin friends to join

Lucas flew around a bit more, nearly missing Beth once or twice, but he just grinned at her cheekily as he did. He had met her over summer with his bro, Chase! He hadn't realized how young she was at the time! He was shocked she was only a second year. Lucas had thought she was like...way older.

Anyway, it looked like their captain was about ready to start, so Lucas made his way back t the ground, landing smoothing and dismounting his broom as if he had been doing this for longer than he really had. Smooth, Lucas, he told himself in his head as he leaned on the broom a little bit, ruffling his red hair. It was probably even brighter in the sun. "You ready to move on, cap?" he asked with a smirk.

Having taken to flying at a bit of a higher altitude to see what everyone else was doing as he did his laps, Ryder slowed down in his last roundabout, cruising between the stands. No assignments, professors, insane headmasters, or feet required to be on the ground. Just the wind in his hair and the wind chill making his fingers and face itchy and red.

Seeing their captain and a few heading back down to the pitch, Ryder followed suit though opted to stay hovering on his broom a few feet from the ground. Honestly did not want to touch the ground again until their tryouts were over. Maybe just for the stretching portion of their time here, BUT THAT'S IT.

....some very red hair. Much distraction. They were probably 'bout to move on, but..."Is that fake?" he asked Lucas.

Kinda needed to know.

Skyler blinked when Patrick had made his way to the air. Ahe watched him for a second as he made his warm up laps and then started to touch back down. She decided follow turning her broom downward slightly.
"C'mon, let's go to the ground," she muttered.
Her broom obeyed as it headed towards the ground. She landes nicely and smiled, a bit proud of herself trying to not show her confidence.

Lucas whipped around suddenly in the younger boy's direction. He almost snorted in response, in his jokey-joke way, but decided against that because the kid might take offense and that was the last thing Lucas wanted to do. He just...smiled and nodded. "Of course it is. My hair's naturally brown. On the lighter side of brown." He swept his hand through it. "I change my hair often. Keeps me from being bored with myself," he explained. He loooooooved his red hair now, though.

"I'm Lucas, by the way. I transferred in last term...so I don't know people beyond my own year. Like I've seen you before but I don't know your name." Unless, of course, this kid was a transfer this term, in which case Lucas hadn't seen his face around and he was....just an idiot, ha. Lucas wouldn't put it past himself!!!! He leaned a little too hard on his broom and nearly fell over when the broom slipped a bit under his grasp. He caught himself quickly, though, and was back flat on his feet in no time before he actually fallen.

SEE? REFLEXES.

Having just about to ask 'why,' Ryder shut his mouth as he was already given that answer. As interesting as it was, it was a little too Gryffindor-esk for himself, but he'd maybe down for sporting his house colors. Perhaps before the first game if he made the team.

"Nice," he nodded, relaxing back on his broom.

And no wonder he didn't notice the hair before. The guy was a transfer...and he probably had different hair then come to think of it. Horrible decision coming to Hogwarts, really. "Ah, Ryder," he returned, his slight grin never wavering as the older Slytherin slipped up somewhat. He'd seen every second of that and it was glorious to witness. "You should go green next."

Zachary took his time getting to know the field as much as he could before joining someone else up in the air. Hovering near the kid with ridiculously red hair, and the normal hair guy - he joined in the conversation, ”it would definitely show some house spirit”

Speaking of, was Patrick ready to get this thing going? Also, WHY did he look so nervous?
