 For those who belong in Slytherin House, on the right side of the Great Hall is where your table awaits. Green banners containing an embroidered silver snake float above the polished table in honour of the cunning Salazar Slytherin. Already placed on the tables are silver plates with accompanying cutlery and goblets. All that is missing right now are the mountains of food and pitchers containing your favourite beverages.
Though your stomach might be growing as you take a seat on one of the long benches next to the table, it is important to not get hangry -- gnawing your arm away or jabbing your fork repeatedly on the surface of the table will do no good whatsoever. Give everyone some time to get settled in (yes, you can take your seats) and wait for Headmaster Scrimgeour to deliver his speech. Keep yourself preoccupied by catching up with your fellow housemates until it is time to sink your teeth into the hearty and delicious meal prepared by the house-elves.

Scooting her bum a little to the side and looking past Max's nice hair, Natalie honed in on the situation that was occurring at the Hufflepuff table. Bel was there. So was that one kid that was also in the alley in Hogsmeade that one day. Still weirded her out.
She couldn't hear anything that was being said, but... she did hear Derf. He was... worked up. About something. And she couldn't tell what, but it was starting to worry her. Completely unaware of Max's probably embarrassing comment about punishment, Natalie started to rise to her feet, preparing to go right over there and see if Derf was okay.
That was when the doors of the Great Hall opened.
And Hawthorne walked in.
And made a pitstop at the Hufflepuff table for some reason.
And then went to the staff table. With letters. THOSE looked like the letter that OL SCRIMMY had brought at the beginning of term that kicked Hawthorne out. This was a sight to see... Natalie waved her hand at Max and gestured to the Staff Table. "Do you see that? Are they getting fired?" Were they finally FREE? |

Aretha nodded at Ryder. She was a little over concerned about Bettie still. The poor girl. That soon faded because there was one Regina Hawthorne striding to the Staff Dais. Her heart sped up in excitement and she could not keep a smirk off of her face. Her keen gaze remained affixed on Scrimgeour and his minions. This was very satisfying to watch. As though this were entertainment she was watching, she reached for a glass of pumpkin juice. Kay was casually sipping on it and too observed on watching the quartet taking their leave to notice that her hair was changing. As Aretha, it had been extremely straight and light brown. Now, it was becoming dark brown and wavy.
Her other features were changing as well, slowly but surely reverting. Except for the eye colour... that remained bright blue. She only realised what had happened when the last of Scrimgeour and the minions had vanished and her clothes suddenly felt rather tight and uncomfortable.
The Polyjuice Potion that meticulously been taken before had worn off...
Students closest to her would notice that Aretha was now replaced by one familiar Kaysha Alexandra Stewart, Muggle Studies Professor and Ravenclaw Head of House. “Hello, everyone! It’s so wonderful to be back.’’ They were all graced with the signature warm and friendly beam.

Max was so busy stuffing his face full of food that he almost missed all the goings on at the staff dais. If it hadn't been for Skyler poking his shoulder and Natalie waving her hand in his face he would've been oblivious to the whole thing. Food was mighty distracting, okay?
He stopped mid forkful to watch as RoboMan and his posse sauntered down the Great Hall and out of the doors. "Well, I don't think they've nipped out for a chat..." Nope, they looked angry. Especially Petrov. But then again, they always looked like an angry bunch so who knows.
"Hopefully that means no more running next term." Because let's be real, that's all that really mattered.
Just as he was about to finish off his forkful of food though, BOOM! More surprises. This time in the form of Professor Stewart. Uhhhhhhhhh?????? She may have had a beam on her face, but this Slytherin certainly didn't. Where did she come from and what happened to Aretha!? Talk about CREEPY.
"........... are you a spy!?"
And were there more spies!?

Skyler blinked as she watched all the Professors left one by one and then the headmaster...she still kept her mouth shut and just watched. Was it really over? Was this nightmare really going to be over with? She didn't think so. She was waiting for the moment that he came back. The moment that one of his minions would come back and tell them this was a test of their ' behaviour and order' or some troll bogus like that. She felt her muscles tense up. She didn't like this at all. She was scared and she did not know what to expect.

Yes, they were ALL LEAVING. FINALLY.
See, Natalie knew something was gonna come through, one way or another. She was kind of surprised to see that it was Hawthorne that had returned to give them their letters, though. Like, where was the Board of Governors? And honestly, what took so long? She had questions, naturally. But her attention was taken elsewhere again, when she heard Max shout out something about a spy.
She looked at Max, followed his gaze and landed her eyes on... Professor Stewart. When did she get here...? Wait, that was where... Aretha had been sitting. Aretha. One of the people she had been suspicious about. Aretha was actually Professor Stewart.
.....
To be honest, once Natalie stared at Stewart for a moment and processed it, it wasn't that surprising. They had given her a weird vibe when she met them in Hogsmeade. Maybe it was because they weren't actually teenagers and they were trying to fit in or something. She was assuming that the others that were with her were the other professors who had been fired at the start of term. But if so, what had they been doing all term??? Just hanging out?
Oy vey. She wanted to go home. Natalie planted her bum back onto the bench and looked around the room, taking the remaining chaos in as she held her dinner roll in her hand. She didn't really feel that hungry anymore. But... yeah, at least they wouldn't have to run next year. | |

Really now, so Professor Stuart was here this whole time huh? Skyler was thrilled to see her and then it quickly turned to a bit of annoyance and anger. She glared at her. Why would she be here the whole time? she gets it, spying to see how the new headmaster would lead this school. But two students NEARLY died. Are you kidding me??

Gaston took a deep breath as he approached the Slytherin table. There was never going to be an easy time to do this, so he may as well get it over with. "Hello, Slytherins," he greeted with a small sad smile, nodding to Skyler, Natalie, Maxton, Patrick, Bettie, and Ryder each in turn. "Enjoying the feast?" Or more to the point, were they enjoying it now that Scrimgeour and his minions were gone?
A sudden wave of emotion threatened to overwhelm him as he looked out at the students... some of whom he had fond memories of, others he'd barely gotten to know and now wouldn't have the chance. He shook his head in a vain attempt to distract himself from the memories and cleared his throat loudly. "As some of you may know, this term is going to be my last..." he went on. "It has been an honor teaching you these past years, and... I-I'm sorry. I'm sorry I didn't do a better job protecting you from Scrimgeour's regime. I'm sorry I wasn't a good Deputy Headmaster..."
He paused as he came to Skyler. "I think I owe you an apology too," he said softly. "I'm sorry for that look I gave you in the charms/astronomy lesson. I didn't know how Le Roux would react to you smiling, and I didn't want him to hurt you... but it was still wrong."
Gaston distracted himself from his rising emotions by digging in his inside jacket pocket for something. After a moment, he produced a small box containing a handsome black quill pen and handed it to the nearest student. "I usually give these to the graduating class," he said, "but since I won't be here to see most of you graduate, this time you all get one." He moved down the table, handing out pens as he went. "Good luck to all of you! And if you need me for anything, I'm just an owl away."

Skyler looked up at the Charm's professor. An apology? Between Wayland, Stuart and the others making an appearance that she was not expecting, who was she supposed to trust now? She merely nodded in turn. "I accept your apology Profesor." She said barely looking at him.
Her voice was quiet and tried her best to be void of emotion. With Scrimgeour's rules and his "style" of ruling this school, she had been reduced down to barely speaking at all.
Yeah...Le Roux...about that...she sighed, rubbing her wrists, not wanting to think about it as she gave Professor Marchand a quiet thank you for the gift.
She was too scared to tell him how much she would miss him. She gave him a small smile.
"Maybe you could visit us professor Marchand," she said.

What. A. Mess.
Cameron just stared in silence as everything around him unfolded. The staff was back. Or somehow they'd never left apparently. What a weird thing to do, going undercover as students. But in some way or another it had been effective. Or at least the Ministry appointed staff had now been fired again. Thank Merlin. Although he wasn't sure what to make of Headmistress Hawthorne being back in charge. This term had been hard in its own way but at least they hadn't been in any mortal peril.
Silver lining?
But now, would they go back to how things had been the terms prior to this one? Was that something he wanted? The answer, frankly, was no. He didn't want that. Especially not for his last year here and especially not with his sister at Hogwarts. So hopefully things would be changing and they'd get a quiet last term at Hogwarts.
With a sigh Cameron leaned into Natalie's side a little. "Can we go now?" He whispered, eyes absently watching Professor Marchand making the rounds, handing out a small gift for each student. Honestly, though, Cam was SO ready to leave Hogwarts for the summer. He dearly needed a break from this school. | |
