Default Professor Petrov's Tent

Though Professor Wayland's Hut was still standing, it was locked for anyone that tried to enter. Professor Petrov was forced to pitch a tent. It was a magically extended tent, but very basic indeed. It had a bed, a bathroom, a small kitchen, desk and chair, and a small couch to lounge on with books scattered around. There was also a snake tank for his lovely Hera. Otherwise, it was completely bare. No student may enter the tent at any time.

You may call on him, but he may not be too keen to speak to you. Visit at your own risk.

Not too far from the barn, a uniquely shaped hut is just at the edge of the Forbidden Forrest. This is not only Professor Wayland's living quarters, but it is also his office. Outside you will notice tons of wood logs and a fire pit. To the right of the hut there is a brand new swimming pool that is only for the Professor's use unless permission is given otherwise. On the porch there are two lawn chairs. After you knock on the door you may sit and wait there until the professor is ready to see you.

When you enter the hut, you will immediately notice that the downstairs area is the Professor's office. On the walls there are many pictures of Professor Wayland with interesting creatures and different people, including his family members, friends, and mentors from school and previous occupations. There are also diagrams depicting different creatures, pointing out body parts and what they do, as well as information about what they may eat.

There isn't really room for a huge desk, but there is a roll top desk in the back right corner of the room and two comfortable chairs sit next to it. On the left side of the room is a cozy fireplace with a small black leather couch. There is a brand new picture on the mantle of himself and Professor Kennedy happily smiling in front of a picturesque view of the Mediterranean Sea. There is also a 4 foot perch for Professor Wayland's Phoenix, Ash, to sit on; though, sometimes you might find the beautiful bird flying around outside of the Hut or perched on the roof. There are many shelves of different books. Most of the books are about creatures. The rest are a mixture of fiction, Sci-fi, graphic novels, and there might be a romance novel...or two.

Behind the staircase is a full kitchen. Yes, Professor Wayland does dine at the castle, but most days he doesn't have time to get up there so he cooks for most meals. The staircase leads to a bedroom that has been magically extended. It is far bigger than it should be and holds a very large bed, a closet, a dresser, and a night stand with a reading lamp on it. The bathroom is small but of well design. Student's however, are not allowed upstairs, so please keep out!

Please, knock and wait at the door! Professor Wayland will be with you as soon as possible!

OOC: There is no waiting area thread, so please just RP your character knocking on the door and wait for Professor Wayland to answer. Also, please don't RP for Ash. You may RP that you SEE him flying around or on the roof, etc., but Ash is a Phoenix and only comes to his master unless someone shows great loyalty to Professor Wayland.

It was nearing lunchtime as he loaded a small tray with a few of his favorite teas and a plate of lemon blueberry scones. Satisfied with the selection, he headed out of the castle and across the grounds towards Professor Wayland’s hut. The Autumn air was still warm and a slight breeze was causing his robes to billow out behind him as he journeyed to his destination.

Once he reached the hut, he raised his hand and knocked twice on the door. He smiled slightly as he looked around the outside, noting the pool and fire pit. It would make for a cozy get together in the evening after the students were in for the night.

It had been a very long morning. First the running...then one of the winged horses hurt it's leg...then a first year got a bloody nose in the middle of a lesson.

And it was only noon. What else could possibly go wrong today?

As he was fixing up the cheese plate he had prepared, he heard a knock at the door. Foster was lucky he remembered their lunch meeting. He was pretty sure Kalen would be angrily sipping tea right about now, but...he had promised, and Tristan didn't break promises. Even if he wasn't to excited about this meeting, he was going to make sure he gave Foster the benefit of the doubt after the comments he made at the feast.

He set the nicely organized cheese plate, (full of Gouda, Cheddar, Brie, Crackers, red and green Grapes, and a selection of different meats), down on the table in the small living room next to the couch and then headed for the door.

"Afternoon, Foster. Come on in. You can have a seat on the couch or chair in the living room whichever you prefer. Don't worry, Ash doesn't bite." He said with a grin gesturing to the lovely Phoenix resting on it's perch next to the fireplace. "Oh, thank you for bring something. You can set it on the coffee table. I need to get a couple things from the kitchen and then I will be right with you." He said with a nod, before heading off to the kitchen, boots clomping against the floor.

Default We're back, and we're up to no good!

It was a beautiful day, wasn't it? And beautiful days called for visits in the depths of the Forbidden Forest, where it was dark and most likely considerably colder, too. Daehyun liked to believe that his interests were different, rather than plain weird as others might put it.

But yes, he wanted to meet the acromantulas, and wanted to break zero school rules while at it, too! Therefore, he was prepared to beg professor Wayland to take him into the forest. After all, he'd been on his best behaviour ever since the incident with Berry, so the professor might just say yes. His chances of survival were much higher that way, as well.

Knock, knock, knock, he drummed his knuckles against the door, before stepping back and having a look around in the hopes of spotting professor Wayland's gorgeous phoenix. Oh, how much he wanted one, too.

He smiled warmly when Tristan opened the door. "Good afternoon, Tristan. Thank you" He said in a light, friendly tone as he entered and placed the tray of tea and scones on the coffee table. "Your hut is lovely. Seems like the perfect spot for some peace and quiet at the end of the day." Not that he didn't love being in the castle with the students, but he was a proud introvert and greatly enjoyed his alone time.

He slowly approached Ash, keeping a safe distance. He hand't had the best track record with creatures and wasn't in the mood to test out if his luck had changed. Satisfied he would not be attacked during lunch, he spun around and slowly made his way to the living room chair. "The cheese plate looks wonderful. Thank you for making it." He called out just loud enough for Tristan to be able to hear him from the kitchen.

Foster placed his hands on his lap, trying not to fidget while he waited for Tristan's return. It was impolite and a bad habit of his when he was anxious.

Tristan had just stamped a wax seal on a letter when he heard a knock at the door. He wasn't expecting anyone so he was sure it was a student come to talk to him about some creature or another. Before the wax dried completely, he pulled the stamp off and set it down on his desk before heading to the door.

Seeing Daehyun at the door put a smile on his face. The young man had come a very long way since his first year and he was always happy to see him. He pulled the door open with a smile, "Hello, Daehyun! What brings you to my door today?" He was sure this kid wanted to see some creatures that he hadn't seen before.

Tristan didn't mind being around people, but also didn't mind being alone. His little hut was his little slice of paradise in a very crowded school.

Tristan quickly rummaged around the kitchen, grabbing tea cups, plates, forks, and a few slices of sourdough bread before heading back to the living room. As he walked back, Ash coo'ed a melody that would help anyone with anxiety to feel calm. Tristan was perfectly fine....well...maybe not perfectly fine. He was angry not anxious. So he wondered what Foster had to be nervous about. "Oh, yeah! No problem. I figured it would be the easiest thing to do." He said with a smile, setting everything he had grabbed down on the table.

Seeing that Foster had taken the chair, Tristan sat on the couch, and passed the other man a plate. "So, how has your first day been so far? Not too bad i hope." He said with a small grin.

Lizzie walked down to the CoMC Professor's Hut. She thought it was pretty amazing that the Professor got to live so close to so many of the amazing creatures she'd only had a chance to read about. She was sure Professor Wayland would grow to be one of her favourite professors and she had so many questions for him, but today, she was on a mission. She need to get permission for her Raven, Mimir, to be kept in the Owlery or the other alternative might be that maybe Professor Wayland could find a spot for her in one of the barns or enclosures with the other animals.

As she continued to walk towards the hut her mind wandered to daydreams of one day maybe being like the Professor teaching others about fantastic beast, or like her favourite role model Newt and his adventures. She silently hoped she'd get to meet a Thestral this year, anything she'd read about them or pictures she'd seen just made her want to meet them more.

As she reached the door of the hut she heard voices inside and she paused, hesitating to knock on the door and interrupt. But this was important, she told herself and would only take a few moments to ask permissions, and understand where things stood. Preparing to apologize profusely as soon as the door opened, she knocked.

He turned his head slightly toward Ash as he sang his song and again wondered if his luck with creatures had turned. The one, and only, creature he had ever gotten along with was his Fwooper, Mercury, and he was well into his senior years.

Foster gave Tristan a smile as the gentleman handed him a plate. "Thank you. Is that sourdough?" He half asked as he took a slice then added some cheese and grapes to his plate. Without looking up, he started quickly "My first day? Well, I know you don't have any reason to trust me. We hardly know more than each other's names, but I have to say that this morning felt wrong." He looked up, trying to read Tristan's face before continuing. "I don't know exactly what happened here last year or why Headmistress Hawthorne was removed from her post, but this Scrimgeour..." he suddenly felt the need to look towards the door as if someone was listening in on their conversation "there is something not right with him." Foster was all for strict rules and order. He honestly loved the idea of running laps each morning to get the body and mind going for the day. However, the excessive taking of points and jinxing them for not complying was not okay.

He sat back and popped a grape in his mouth to stop himself from further revealing how he felt about the new leadership. He had no way of knowing how far their conversation would travel, though he hoped it would remain between the two of them.

As he'd been staring into the distance in the hope of finding professor Wayland's phoenix, Daehyun had been startled when the door opened, but his face soon broke into a smile. A rather nervous one. "Professor, hello!" Now, how did people come about asking for such things? He'd never known the art of subtlety.

"It's a lovely day, isn't it?" he said, his grin widening and becoming more strained. "I, uh... I thought it's a lovely day for taking a walk... Maybe in the Forbidden Forest..." There he went, no longer able to look the man in the eyes.

"... with your permission?" Oh, Merlin, was he going to get scolded for asking to go into the Forbidden Forest, of all places? Sure, Hogwarts' grounds were immense and lovely, but they didn't have huge, dangerous spiders that he could examine. There was no real excitement.

Tristan was about to respond to the young man's question when he began speaking in a very nervous voice which spread to the grin on his face. Tristan crossed his arms with a small grin shaking his head.

"What exactly do you want to see in the Forbidden Forest, Daehyun? I can't allow you to go alone even during the day. I would have to come with you, you know that right? So tell me now exactly what creature you are wanting to see." He leaned his head to the side a little, eyes boring into the young man's face. There were a lot of dangerous creatures in there and he wasn't sure about taking a third year into the forest.

But before he could get answers another knock came at the door. "One sec, Daehyun." He said patting the boy on the shoulder and heading for the door.

Tristan pushed the door open and smiled. A young first year girl he had just met this afternoon was at the door. "Oh, Hello Lizzie!" He stepped outside of the door for a moment. "How can I help you? I was just speaking with another student but he can wait a few minutes." He said with a grin and a wink.

Daehyun's...request would probably take much longer than the young girl's so...ladies first.

He sat back and popped a grape in his mouth to stop himself from further revealing how he felt about the new leadership. He had no way of knowing how far their conversation would travel, though he hoped it would remain between the two of them.
Tristan grinned at the bird, "Don't worry. He is very perceptive about emotions and is just trying to calm your nerves." He had heard that specific tune too many times today.

At the question, Tristan turned to look at the table and nodded, "Yeah, that's all I have at the moment. I hope that's okay." He said as the man took a slice. Apparently it was just fine. He grinned to himself.

As the other man spoke, Tristan listened while piling his plate with a mixture of cheese, meats, and a little bread as well. He popped a grape in his mouth and sighed while chewing. He swallowed and said, "That's because it was wrong. Entirely wrong." The anger welled up in him again, and he had to set his plate down before he threw it. "Last year my club called Creature Companions did an activity in the Lake. Long story short we found a cave full of very old treasure and artifacts." He wasn't going to give all of the details, but he would give him as much as he could. "Well, turns out the treasure had been guarded by ancient Inferi. They attacked the school at the end of May. Many people were hurt and injured, the worst were professors." He thought about Gaston and Kaysha and took a deep breath.

"When we finally figure out that they wanted the treasure we gave it back immediately and they just...left." He watched the scene play over in his mind, and closed his eyes, rubbing his face with his hand. "Hogwarts is known for having extraordinary events happening every year and it's not because of the lack of discipline or what we are teaching them, they are absolutely coincidences or accidents. It's a magical school...things will happen." He paused shaking his head. "Regina didn't deserve this. She has protected these students with everything she has...and this man comes in here thinking what he is doing will make Hogwarts better." He looked up at the ceiling and sighed closing his eyes. "He has no clue. No one who hasn't been here to see it happen does." He turned to look at Foster with a fierceness even Ash would fear.

He quickly looked back down at his plate, wondering if this meeting had been a good idea. He really hoped Foster could be trusted. If not...things could get bad very quickly. Suddenly, he was wishing it was still summer and wishing to be back in Santorini.

Oh, he was on to him. If only Daehyun had looked professor Wayland in the eyes, he would have seen that the man had seen right through him. "Mmmhm," he managed to squeak out. Of course he knew it was forbidden to students, and for a very good reason at that. That was why he was being a responsible student and came to ask his Care of Magical Creatures professor to... possibly break school rules for him. Would he? Break rules?

Now, obviously he wouldn't go alone, he wasn't that reckless.

... well maybe he would have taken his chances, but he didn't want to disappoint professor Wayland. His own safety was his last worry.

"I just-" He could already feel his cheeks heating up. "I was curious to see the acr-" And he was cut off by the sound of a knock at the door. Nodding when told to wait, he was actually glad for the interruption. He could take a break and breathe. Yes, breathing felt nice, he should do more of that, and take a moment to sort out his thoughts and try again when professor Wayland returned.

He nodded, soothing sounds were welcomed at the moment. In fact, he would have been perfectly content to listen to the tune for the rest of the afternoon. “Sourdough is actually one of my favorite breads.” He took another bite of cheese, letting the sharp nuttiness spread across his tongue. He hadn’t been in the mood for much of a breakfast after having to take a student to the Hospital Wing that morning.

After he had finished speaking, he watched and waited for Tristan to reply. His stomach turned and he almost felt like leaving, but steeled himself for what was to come. He listened closely as the professor spoke, growing more and more uneasy over the events of the past two days. The fierce look on Tristan's face only increased his uneasiness over the situation and his story sparked a memory of an article he had read over tea and scones one morning. However, the follow up story hand't made his local paper. To the best of his recollection, there had been no report of an attack on Hogwarts in their daily news.

“Wait, wasn’t that the the treasure horde that had been turned over to officials, then sent back to Hogwarts to be put on display? There was a story about it in our daily news.” He shifted forward in the chair. “Who at the Ministry was responsible for sending the items back to Hogwarts without thoroughly checking the origins and ensuring the safety of the students?” Foster not so gently sat his plate on the table and was thankful it didn’t shatter. “How could they possibly blame Regina for their own mistake?”

He shook his head. Every part of it was wrong. No wonder so many of the professors and students were upset during the feast. “No. This isn’t right. Someone is trying to cover something up and they are using Hogwarts, or more specifically Regina, as their scapegoat.” He stood and started pacing the floor of the hut.

Tristan clomped his way over to the door wondering who else could be here. He generally didn't have students overlapping. He errantly wondered if it was a professor.

"Oh...."Lizzie started, a blush rising in her cheeks. "I'm sorry!"

She stared up at the Professor in the door, regathered her thoughts and spoke.

"Well there are about 100 different questions I want to ask you," she laughed slightly. "But the reason I'm here is I have a Raven, Mimir, I got her as my animal, instead of an owl or a cat."

"She's wonderful, but because she's not an owl I need permission to either keep her in the Owlery, unless you can think of somewhere that would better suit her. I want what's best for her!" she continued, rambling, as she often did when she was really excited, or nervous.

She looked to the Professor, concern on her face as she expectantly waited for his reply.

"No need to apologize at all!" Tristan said with a reassuring smile. He didn't want her to worry about any other student. Besides, it sounded to him like Daehyun's request would be taking a lot longer than the young first year girl's would.

He grinned, "Of course you do." He said with an answering chuckle. Tristan listened as she explained her predicament, crossing his arms over his chest and nodding, reassuring he was listening.

"Well, sorry to day but predator birds of different species can't be kept in the same area. They are natural enemies. So Owls and Raven's cannot mix or they fight and can badly injure each other. But I can definitely make a space for Mimir in the barn. You can visit her as much as you like, but she cannot go into the castle with you since she isn't on the approved list." He said with a small smile. He knew that was probably not what the young girl wanted to hear, but that was just how things were with predatory birds.

This kid was probably going to ask to see something new every year...and was probably going to give him some grey hairs....but at least he wasn't as bad as Zoryn. He was amazed he hadn't become completely white headed because of that child.

"Good." Tristan said with a small smile and a nod. He was happy that hadn't been a mistake. He did love sourdough himself, though it wasn't necessarily his favorite.

Tristan nodded, listening as the man spoke. "Well, you see that's the problem. They did check the cave as well as myself and a few other professors, including Regina. The Inferi must have been so well hidden they were impossible to find." He paused to let that sink in. "In all honesty, it was truly no one's fault. Though some of us feel rather guilty about it." He looked down at his own hands. It had been his idea and his activity that lead them to find the hoard. How could he not feel responsible?

Tristan shook his head in disagreement, "No, I don't think it's that either. The Board of Governors think they are keeping their children safe. Scrimgeour and his militaristic ways seemed to be their idea of how to do so." Which he wholeheartedly disagreed with, but who was he to change that now?

Yeah I broke that mirror, so what? ll NOT backward ll Official Gryfferin ll Lemon's favourite

The term had only started but it'd already proven to be a weird one. Weird....was putting it mildly but there it was. This whole phys. ed in the morning, strict observation and even stricter Headmaster, it definitely wasn't the Hogwarts she was used to and it admittedly made her happy to be leaving.

That's why she had to visit Wayland; because she was leaving. Yes, there were still a ton of months before that actually happened but there was something she wanted to get sorted with him before then.

When the time finally came, there was a certain aethonan she wasn't keen on leaving behind. Taking care of Dexter all these years, helping him learn to fly, watching him make progress and see how much his wings were strengthening. She didn't think she was ready to let him go, especially not when she'd by all accounts adopted him for doing so well at caring for him during the assignment.

Jessa came to a stop at the door, giving it three firm knocks before taking a step back. She was content to wait.

He was till pacing, his mind going over the morning's events out on the pitch. "It sound as if the professors here, including you, did an amazing job keeping the students as safe as possible during the attack." No lives had been lost and the castle was still standing. The Inferi could have done far worse.

Foster paused his pacing. "If you really do believe they have the students best interest at heart, I'll have to trust you on it." He took a few more step before starting again. "I still feel rather uncomfortable with the methods. What is it teaching the students to not send for the healer when one of them is injured? It does no more than teach them to not trust their professors." He huffed a few times then returned to his seat.

"I do apologize for my outburst." It wan't like him to get so worked up over events. He was normally a very calm and even tempered man, but he already felt oddly attached to the students and Hogwarts. Almost more so than his old school. It was almost as if he was finally where he was always meant to be and someone was trying to take it away from him.

Lizzie listened to the professor's explanation and her heart fell when he mentioned that Mimir couldn't live in the Owlery. But thankfully he offered an alternative, one of the barns.

"I felt like that might be the case." Lizzie replied. "I knew it was a risk when I bought her."

She paused a moment to collect her thoughts.

"The reason I bought her is that at Ilvermorny they're allowed and I may end up going there if we ever move back home," she sighed, "though that depends on my parents job."

She paused again, biting her bottom lip.

"Thank you for offering her a place to stay. I'll go fetch her, where in the barn is it you'd like her?" Lizzie asked, some relief now that Mimir had a warm bed and company.

Tristan was in the kitchen leaning against the counter reading the Daily Prophet and sipping on a fresh cup of Chai when he heard a knock at the door. As usual, he wasn't expecting anyone but figured it was more than likely another student coming to talk to him about something.

He quickly folded the paper and sat it down on the counter along with his tea, before heading towards the door. He noticed Jessa immediately, and was slightly surprised at seeing her. It had been awhile since she had come to see him, but he probably shouldn't be surprised given the new staff changes.

He made his way to the door, and pulled it open with a small smile. "Hello, Jessa. What brings you to my door today?" He asked gesturing to one of the two lawn chairs on the porch.

Tristan hadn't noticed the other man pacing around. He was still replaying the events of last term in his brain. "Yes, well, we could have done better. Many students joined the fight and one was critically injured. He lived but it was touch and go for awhile." Not to mention the professors that were severely injured as well.

As he looked at the table full of food in front of him, he sighed, "I have to believe it. Despite them not being here daily and thinking they know everything that goes on here, these are their children." Though, he thought they had made a terrible mistake by taking Regina from this school. These students were as much his children as they were their parents. Merlin, he saw them more than their parents did for a good chunk of their life. Of course the professors at this school have a better idea of their safety. Sighing again, "I think he wants them to show their abilities instead of calling for help. I think he is trying to gauge how much we have taught them. Though I highly disagree with the method as well." He added for good measure.

Tristan leaned back into the couch resting his elbow on the arm rest, and his cheek on his palm. "Not to worry. I think we are all a little stressed right now. You're lucky you didn't see a fight at the feast." Because he was sure as hell thinking about punching someone that night, and he was sure he wasn't the only one.

"Not a problem, Lizzie. When you bring her back to the barn there will be an enclosure for her with her name and yours on the outside and you can go straight in." He said with a grin. He would have to sneak over there in a few minutes and get that ready before he did whatever Daehyun was trying to convince him to do.

Acrom--He was joking right? Daehyun wanted Tristan to take him into the forbidden forest to meet the Acromantulas with all the crap that was going on with the new headmaster? He rubbed a hand over his face, and sighed.

"Daehyun...," He paused with a sigh, then thought for a moment. He knew the rules...students must be accompanied to go into the forest. How was this any different? Other than taking him to meet an incredibly dangerous giant talking spider......, "Okay. BUT! I expect a full project out of this. If we are going to go talk to a man eating creature...you are going to make me a model and have a written report about Acromantulas. Do you understand?" He knew this was probably a terrible idea....but sometimes the Acromantulas weren't all that bad. He often had to go into the forest and speak with them about different things.

He grabbed his leather jacket throwing it on quickly. "Don't make me regret this, Daehyun. Stay by my side and do not speak unless I tell you it's okay, and if say run...you best run." He said it with very wide and frantic eyes. Needless to say, Tristan wasn't a huge fan of these creatures. He pushed the door open and whistled a quick tune. Ash quickly appeared and landed on his shoulder.

"Well, what are you waiting for?" He said as he turned and looked at the young man inside his door.

"Well I'm looking forward to Care of Magical Creatures," Lizzie replied with a smile. "It's my hope to be like the great Newt Scamander someday."

"I'll definitely come and do that" she nodded to the Professor. "Thank you!"

She ran off down the steps of the hut to grab Mimir, soon she'd have her own place in the barns with the other magical and non-magical creatures.

Jessa took a seat on one of the chairs when it was offered, glad he wasn’t too busy for a chat. At least, he didn’t look busy and he seemed ready to listen.

“I actually came to talk to you about Dexter, Sir.” She began. Her not so baby aethonan. Merlin she could remember when she’d just begun taking care of him. He had the skinniest legs that wobbled slightly when he walked and didn’t entirely know what to do with his wings. The horse had come a long way since then.

“Firstly, I guess....I just wanted to ask. You let me adopt him—because of how good I’d been with him and well, I’m graduating at the end of this year. I guess I’m just wondering if I get to take him with me. I’d like to, obviously. I don’t think I’d wanna leave him behind.”

Things might’ve been easier if he was a niffler or one of the other, smaller creatures during the year long assignment, but he was a winged horse and still growing. She wasn’t sure if that would make this business more complicated as a result.

He was feeling more and more out of place. Without having been around the previous years, he was at a loss for understanding how Tristan, or any of the other professors, really felt. He touched his chin with his index finger and exhaled. Of course the students would be their first priority, even if their methods weren't what he would have chosen. It wasn't like they had just randomly grabbed a man off the streets to replace Headmistress Hawthorne.

"All of this is a bit more than I bargained for when I took the position." He took a few more slow breaths. "Let me know what I can do to help make this transition easier for everyone. Please." Foster looked to Tristan with pleading eyes. The last thing he wanted was to make enemies of the long term staff. He didn't have it in him to spend his first year caught in the middle of a battle between the new headmaster and the long term staff.

He nodded at Tristan's last words. "Yes, I'm very thankful there wasn't a fight at the feast." He chuckled lightly. "Although with the daggers his eyes were shooting at me, I feel as if your friend, Professor Kennedy, might have enjoyed taking a swing at me. I'm afraid I might have upset him in some way." He still wasn't sure what he had said that seemed to upset the man and he wondered if it had something to do with the song he had been requested to sing.

She ran off down the steps of the hut to grab Mimir, soon she'd have her own place in the barns with the other magical and non-magical creatures.
Tristan smiled rather large at that revelation. His biggest role model was Newt Scamander, and it always made him happy to hear his students say the want to be like him...because that was his dream once too. "I look forward to having you. I think that is every up and coming Magizoologists dream." He said with a wink.

"Good! You are so welcome! See you in class." He said with a quick wave as he watched the young girl run in the direction of the castle. She was a good one that Lizzie.

He listened...slightly surprised at the requests that Jessa was making. Tristan sat up, leaning forward and resting his elbows on his knees, he looked straight at the Head Girl. "Jessa, you adopted Dexter. The only reason he is staying at Hogwarts right now is because you are. Once you graduate...you can take him. He is rightfully yours." He leaned back again folding his arms across his chest.

"Did you honestly think I wouldn't let you take him after adopting him? You have taken exceptionally good care of him. I would never tell you that you couldn't have him." Unless of course she happened to be doing some of her experiments on him...which right now it seemed her focus was the undead. He wouldn't dwell on that too much though.

Tristan plucked a grape off of the cheese plate and popped it into his mouth. He needed something to do with his hands or the anxiety would bubble over and he would be come a complete mess.

He was glad when the other man finally spoke. "Yes, well, imagine how we long terms felt. Completely blindsided." His anger rose for a moment. Regina didn't deserve any of this. Shaking his head he took another grape. "Honestly, Foster...I don't know what you can do. A lot of the kids wont lie down for this. They are going to make it difficult. There are Professors that wont either." He wasn't going to mention he was one of them...but that pretty much went without saying.

When Foster brought up Kalen, a slow smile crossed his lips. He looked up at the picture of the two of them in Greece on his mantle, and back to Foster. "Well, Kalen can become quite," he had to think of a good way to put this, "green when it comes to me, especially when he thinks someone is flirting." Foster had been particularly nice to him in a way that seemed flirtatious at the feast and well...the Slytherin in Kalen decided to make it's way out. "He's more than just a friend." Tristan made a pointed glance at Forster and hoped he understood what he meant, but it would be difficult not to. The smile on his face said everything.

She allowed the sigh of relief to escape her lips, feeling a little lighter now that it was confirmed she really would be able to take him with her. It’d been weighing on her during her trips to the stables, each time he eagerly greeted her and tried prancing around like he was still small enough for that to be acceptable. “Thank you, really. I guess with the way things are being run now...I just thought it was better to be sure now than find out different at the end of the term.” Surely even he could see the school year was off to a...er.....questionable start.

“I guess that means I have another question. He’s been staying here, in the stables and I think he’s made friends with the others. When I take him, he’ll be alone. Is there any way....I could maybe....adopt another one this year? I’d like to spend the year getting it accustomed to me so it’s not such a shock later—but of course that’s only if it’s okay with you.”

For the most part, Jessa’s pets were able to fit in her arms. Having an aethonan was a whole different experience and not a bad one.

“There’s an interesting novelty in having live pets, wouldn’t you say?” Of course, she loved her undead babies but Dexter and her modified rabbit Barnaby were interesting additions too.

Oh, he could basically see professor Wayland choke on his own breath as he processed Daehyun's request. Well, more like, plead. And now he was preparing to plead for mercy, because the man did not look pleased. Which was to be expected.

But... a project?

... really?

He was BEAMING. "I'll write a full book on it!" Psh, a simple project was for amateurs. He would happily replace sleep with writing a whole book on acromantulas. Arachnophobic Around Acromantulas, he would call it. Boy, was this exciting!

But wait... what was professor Wayland doing... pulling his jacket on... what... OH. "You-you mean right-? Right now?" MERLIN'S BEARD, RIGHT NOW? REALLY REALLY? "I mean-mmm!" Yep, his lips were sealed, and he would not talk unless professor Wayland said it was okay to talk. Got it.

... now he didn't need to know that Daehyun ran as fast as a mad turtle, but hopefully it wouldn't get to that.

Shutting up, he followed.
