| | Office of Professor Rafferty Ainsworth Rafferty had in no time moved into Stewart's office. Contrary to her warm and welcoming office, his was simple and straightforward. The desk was kept though it now held a neat name plaque that said "Rafferty AINSWORTH, MUGGLE STUDIES PROSSFOR AND RAVENCLAW HEAD OF HOUSE''. Scattered across it were books, quills, pens.
The chances of you catching Rafferty in office are high as he spent most of his free time here. There is no waiting room now. Just knock on the door and announce yourself by stating your name. You'll be told if you were allowed to enter or to leave. |

No. Was he in a rush to open the door when the sharp knocks came on his office’s door? Also no. Rafferty seriously considered pretending he was not here at all. Then again, this was an opportunity to show off his stature. It was that thought in mind that made him ease the door open to reveal a professor. His visitor not being a student interested him. What did she want? Was this an opportunity to gain some information as to if she would be useful to Scrimgeour? Maybe.
“Professor.’’ Rafferty gestured to the office. “Come in.’’ He had quite forgotten her name. That hardly mattered in his opinion.

“Professor.’’ Rafferty gestured to the office. “Come in.’’ He had quite forgotten her name. That hardly mattered in his opinion. Was the professor elsewhere? That is what she wondered as she waited for him to answer and the waiting stretched on a bit longer than she thought was professional for a professor to keep someone waiting. She did not mind waiting if he was busy, of course.
Then the door eased open. If she were the kind of person who slouched (and she most certainly was not), this moment would have seen her straightening. Yet her back was always like a ruler and this was impossible. "Professor Rafferty Ainsworth," she full named him as she had done to virtually all of her colleagues at the feast. It did not bother her one bit if people returned the greeting in the same way or not. She held out her hand to shake his. This was the first time they met face to face, after all.
Now what was the purpose of her visit? It was of course to get a feel of who this newest colleague of hers was, and how she should act in his presence. Alice liked knowing exactly where everyone stood when it came to issues that may or may not derail her career.
Smiling professionally and dipping her head slightly as a sign of respect, the History of Magic professor walked into the man's office and allowed her eyes to dart from one corner to the next - never actually moving her neck at all while doing this. Like her, he did not seem to have many items in his office, though even her office was not as bare as this one. "Lovely office you have here," she said, crossing her hands in front of her and turning around in a circle to make an exaggerated show of surveying what she had already seen upon stepping into the office. She had given the same compliment to Professor Stewart and would have made the same comment about almost any office that wasn't a mess. In all honesty, she liked Kay's office better. "I'm afraid I can't stay long, as I am sure you are busy and I, too, have obligations that I must attend shortly. I just felt it right that I welcome you to Hogwarts. You're the only colleague I haven't had the pleasure of being introduced to." Julian must have been busy. Then again, he didn't seem like the type to waste time on pleasantries.
She smiled professionally again at the Muggle Studies professor. "I am also new to staff. Regina hired me, but I barely knew her and of course she was gone so quickly. But I am a quick learner and I quickly adapted." Why was she saying this? To demonstrate that she had no problem working with Julian despite he not being the one who hired her. "So if you need assistance or have questions, I would be more than happy to help a fellow newbie."
Yes, she used the word newbie.

Yes, she used the word newbie. Was Rafferty wondering why he was being named in full? Yes. Was he finding it weird? Also yes. “That would be me,’’ Rafferty confirmed in a bored voice. Why was this Professor here? She had better not be wasting his time. The cold eyes belonging to him looked down at the outstretched hand for a full thirty seconds before reaching out to extend his own. Raftery shook the hand once then dropped it. A people person he was not.
The silence continued even when the office was complimented and when she continued talking. Rafferty’s eyebrows finally quirked up with interest when she mentioned that she was also new on staff. “I see.’’ Shrewd and calculating expressions crossed his face. It seemed as though she was eager to get on their good sides. This was just perfect. The more cooperation Scrimgeour had the better. Rafferty tossed a questioning look. "Wouldn't that be like the blind leading the blind?’’ He had absolutely no use for her help.

"Wouldn't that be like the blind leading the blind?’’ He had absolutely no use for her help. One. Two. Three. Four. Five. Six. What was wrong with this man??? Why was he making her keep her hand in the air like a fool? Seven. Eight. Nine. Ten. Eleven. Twelve. Thirteen. Fourteen. Fifteen. Professor Rafferty was TESTING her patience! Sixteen. Seventeen. Eighteen. Nineteen. Twenty. It would be terrible if he never took her hand. That would put her in an awkward position. Twenty one. Twenty two. Twenty three. Twenty four. Twenty five. UM- what?! she raged in her mind as time ticked on. Take my hand, you fool! I will not be disrespected in this way! Twenty six. Twenty seven. Twenty eight. Twenty nine. THIRTY!
It was then that he took her hand and her worries about being humiliated went away. Now she just had to disguise the fact that she had been about to EXPLODE at the man who she had hoped to become an ally to. Maybe she could salvage the operation with the right words... "Yes, I suppose it would be like the blind leading the blind," she conceded with a gracious tip of her head, forcing a small smile. "But I'm good at that. I could never perform good magic at school...therefore I made up for it by learning every single little fact I could about this castle and the people who ran it through the years. I know more things about this place than many who have been here for years." This was an exaggeration, but exaggerating in her favor was something she was good at. "But even if you don't need my help...I thought I would offer it anyway. I know expectations for staff has changed a lot this past year, we are expected to do more than ever before, and I want it known that I am perfectly fine with all that and more than up to the task. In case anyone asks."
She had switched tactics with those last two sentences. No longer was she pretending to simply offer help, now she was relaying the fact that she knew that Rafferty had the new boss's ear and that she knew she had to be on their good side to keep her job. That's what that "in case anyone asks" meant. |

Had he known would he have lengthened the time period? You bet. Now that his hand was away from O’Hara’s, Raffery stuck it into his pocket. He didn’t offer her a seat. Rafferty wanted her gone ASAP.
Rafferty listened in silence. His eyebrows went up slowly. Why? Rafferty did not for one moment trust O’Hara. Still, he said nothing but let the sceptical facial expression of his speak loudly and clearly. “I see. You mean Scrimgeour.’’ Rafferty did not mince words. “If you’re desperate for this to be known, I advise you to be nothing but loyal to this new leadership. It is a far superior one. Do what is required of you and you will have nothing to worry about.’’

But thinking about it, she probably would have said the same thing. It was a lie, she was desperate - but she did not like the idea of Rafferty or anyone else in this school to think it was so. "You need not worry about my loyalties. I am loyal to whomever the current headmaster or headmistress is, but I agree that Julian is a great headmaster." "Well!" she said, deciding that there was little else to say here. "I have items to attend to, as I am sure you have as well. I look forward to working with you. Good day, Mr. Rafferty Ainsworth." With that, she turned to leave.
And no, this time she did NOT offer him her hand! |

And no, this time she did NOT offer him her hand! Did Rafferty believe O’Hara? Not by a long shot. Didn’t she realise that she indeed did sound desperate? She would be stupid if she did not. Rafferty simply looked at O’Hara with superior amusement. “Whatever it is that you want to say so that you sleep easier at nights.’’
This was a short visit indeed. This pleased Rafferty. “Why, yes I do. Good day, Professor O’Hara.’’ Rafferty did not bother to watch her go as he turned his back to the door as he moved to face his desk.

But, with the other three, he was content.
And they were HERE. ”C’mon, let’s dO this.” Were they supposed to be quiet? Were there rules about this? Hmm...

Well Théo had done it right after Zoryn and was good to go after he grabbed himself some spray paint cans and that was it for him. Best he focus on one thing. Anyway he was here in Ainsy's office now with everyone and he was not here. Good Good Good. Time to get to work.
He looked around once before he started spray painting incredibly rude drawings and words all over the place. Go Big or Go Home. Or well in this case he was in his "home" until the summer but you guys get the point.
It was pretty fun and well he could leave the dungbombs and rotten eggs to everyone else.

Almost.
But instead the 6th year merely made his way into the office, his hands and pockets full of rotten eggs that he started to smush into Ainsworths desk, and in some of his desk drawers! Ha! That worked! He set a few on the mans chair as well, and then decided to hide a few eggs on the shelves, and even carefully levitated one to stick on the ceiling.

| they came they egged they conquered doesn't proofread tweets | #wrongaboutcereal | #siriusly? | emo to the extremo Zoryn was obviously leading the way, so she hadn't seen Beau's lack of disillusionment charm until they reached their destination. Geez. Did she have to do everything herself? There was a reason why she had been voted 'most likely to escape Azkaban'. If she were to get busted, she'd be smart enough to get out of it. Beau on the other hand... Doubtful. She quickly raised her wand to cast one on him, but in a split second decision, decided to use a nonverbal silencio instead. They had priorities here and the number one was not getting caught in the act.
If cameras caught Beau because he wasn't disillusioned, that was his own fault. Zoryn, however, was going to save herself and his silence was an optimal part of that. She shot him an apologetic sort of look, despite not feeling sorry about it. He'd thank her later. It was necessary for his own good.
Anyways, they were meant to leave this place in a state of disaster, and that's what Zoryn FULLY intended on doing, which is why she wasted no time shoving rotten eggs and dungbombs in each and every corner. Visible and also out of sight. Man, they should've worn gas masks, this was DISGUSTING.
Fortunately, it would be temporary for them. Unfortunately for Ainsworth, he was stuck with it. HEhehehe. TAKE THAT YOU BIG LOAF OF PLAIN, WHITE OFF-BRAND SOURDOUGH. HA.
Zoryn took all of thirty seconds to hide the dungbombs and rotten eggs, before going to his desk a spray painting a big 'YOU STINK!' across his desk in BRIGHT PINK. She would've gone with something that stung more, but it felt like a clever burn with how stinky his office was about to get. The paint took all of 1 minute of her time.
Which meant they were at 1 minute and 30 seconds.
They needed to scram ASAP. Turning to her group, she hurriedly motioned for them all to make an exit. Zoryn wasted no time, EVERY MAN FOR HIMSELF!!! And FLEEEEEEEED the scene.
#zorynout #rebelswithacause #raffertyisastinkyrat
And just like that, she had disappeared. The rest were behind her, she was sure.

| Sylvie in, Sylvie out PHILOMATH ❅ not one atom, but two ♪ ♪ made of starstuff ❅ def main(): What the group did not know, however, was that Sylvie Norcott had followed Zoryn allllll the way from the common room, disillusioning herself back in her dorm. Sylvie, still sporting faint marks that have yet to heal, from the powerful, ill-meaning dark jinx Ainsworth had tossed at her.
After the Incident™, Sylvie had asked absolutely nobody for permission as she snuck out of the school, and had only just recently returned. She had spent nights in her childhood bed, trying not to think of Hogwarts but being unable to think of anything else. And, since she was seventeen already and a fully fledged adult in the wizarding world, she paid Diagon Alley a visit before coming back to school.
Presents, you could say, from her to Professor Ainsworth.
Whispering to remove the muffliato effects from herself, she had followed everyone in and carefully stayed out of everyone's way, wrinkling her nose in absolute disgust at the smell. Only Beau was visible, of course, but she had a pretty good sense of where they all were, given the activities. When it looked like they were in the full swing of things, Sylvie finally moved.
The still mint haired girl pulled out a collection of jars from her pocket and enlarged them several times, not particularly caring now if they noticed her movements in her disillusioned state or not. Surprise? Surprise. Shouldn't really be a surprise. She just hadn't wanted to tell them she was going to join them, and now it was too late to stop her.
Her first stop at Diagon Alley was the apothecary. The jars contained some of the nastier things she could find, everything she could buy for about fifty galleons. Armadillo bile, horned slugs, horned toads, newts, nettles, rat spleens, some re'em blood, whatever glumbubmle fluid was, allllll of that and so much more (flobberworm mucus, budimun secretion, tube worms, scarab beetles and a nice sprinkling of sneezewort for fun) was spread along with the rotten eggs into his desk, onto important looking parchments, into the shelves, absolutely everywhere.
Oh, and one last thing. Twisting her wand, she walked right up to the plaque with his name and title and smashed it to smithereens with a well cast bombarda. Professor of nothing. Head of nothing. It'll take more than a few charms to clean up this mess. Enjoy, Rafferty Ainsworth. "Théo, your drawings are beautiful. Well done," she grinned at him, her smile not quite reaching her eyes, and disillusioned herself once more as she followed Zoryn out.

Boo. Kodee wouldn’t have made him be quiet during this. Theyd probably have gotten bored before doing anything and went to look at Kodee’s important magazine collection again. And again and again. Priorities. Woteva. Captain Zoryn clearly knew what was good and right so he would follow her lead.
Except his plan was to empty any and all inkwells he could find up the walls and to tear out the pages of any books he could find. He didn’t get through more than one book, but the pages littered the newly-decorated office and Beau was quick to follow the others out of the room.
Didn’t want to be caught when he knew he was the only one that probably would be.
Whoops.

| Reaction to the rebels. Did the stench hit Rafferty the second he stepped onto the corridor to his office? Yes. Yes, it did. He gagged and coughed. There was swearing which came out very muffled because he had locked his nose into the crook of an elbow. Rafferty realized the stench was only getting worst as he neared his office door. There was no hesitation for him. The door was pushed wide open. The carnage that greeted him made him drop his arm from his face. Those cold eyes widened in shock.
Spray painted words, cracked eggs. There were even things that looked like bodily fluids from creatures. His name plaque was smashed to bits. Rafferty’s hands balled into fists. A second later there was a bone chilling and inhuman growl that came from his throat. When he found out who did this they were going to regret they ever walked this earth.
