Despite the rain earlier that month, the weather for that particular day was significantly the opposite. That was, the air was warm and it was a beautiful morning outside. Unfortunately, the class could not be held outdoors as this particular lesson called for electronics to be used. More directly, they would be using the computers. Today’s setting was quite different from regular lessons. For one thing, a classroom was not being used but the Entertainment Room was. For another, the usual equipment that adorned the Room all seemed to have vanished (but were actually stashed safely and carefully at the back) and every computer that was available had been set up into rows and columns- much like a Muggle computer lab. There were long, rectangular tables that stationed five computers apiece and were accompanied by long benches. The furniture faced the front of the Room where Professor Kaysha’s trusted whiteboard now stood.
Where is your professor?
She’s at the desk temporarily brought in as she tries to focus on putting together future lesson plans. Given the recent occurrences at the School, Kay sometimes found this a challenge. Never the less, she looked up and greeted each arrival.
OOC: WELCOMEEE to our first OOC lesson; this would not be the first IC one Your charries’ will notice that the computers are off currently. They should not put them on... or they can and face the consequences We’ll get started in about 27- 28 hours.

Nettie couldn't help but tense up slightly as the new Headmaster walked in. She absolutely HATED this. All of it. Every time he walked in, or that Divination professor was around, she felt like she was on trial for something. And she did NOTHING wrong. She tried to focus on her account, getting to the Google homepage as instructed.
Alright, now to find the Gmail button. She moved her cursor to the top right corner, clicked on the Gmail - OOOOH, GOOGLE EMAIL! She got it. CLEVER. She then had to come up with a username. She decided to just go with something simple. "TrinettaGladin" is what she typed into the username section. She continued to fill out the information, and then stopped, since Stewart said she didn't want them to fully commit to the email just yet. That had been easy enough.

Derf was just sort of staring, mouth slightly agape, at Chloe when she spoke in that pseudo cutely innocent manner AT the Headmaster. And, welll, Derf knew he was one to warn others against speaking up to authority - something he still did not regret one bit - but.... "Chloe," he hissed from across the way, shaking his head subtly in warning her to not push buttons. Partly for her sake...but partly for Professor Stewart's as well. Even if, well, he did feel the woman's evaluation was overdue, especially in light of the events two years ago. Just, you know, being possessed for so long at at such high stakes...
And he was getting distracted now and had entirely zoned out while the professor was addressing how to make this Gmail thingy - his own screen was still on frogs, particularly of the poison dart variety - though he eventually tuned back in while Professor Stewart was still explaining and he assumed they were supposed to be filling in all these field thingies. So he was hunting and pecking for the information and had just about finished when she THEN said that they weren't actually going to be creating one of these today. THEN WHY EXPLAIN IT ALL AND GIVE THEM THE INFORMATION TO EXECUTE?! IT WAS DANGLING A DEAD FERRET IN FRONT OF A HIPPOGRIFF!
As for her question regarding emails and stuff...he knew his dad had one for business purposes and probably mum did too for the same reason. But, er, Internet safety NOW rather than later if they were going to go poking around things, you know? But...anyway, question first and up went his hand.
"Dad has one and he uses it to correspond with muggles for work purposes and stuff. Since his company deals with aquatic flora in muggle regions and all. Think he prefers uses the telephone though. And he has to be careful because the Statute and stuff...but he got a virus once as an email attachment I remember...one of those where like...someone could break into your computer using an attachment or something..." He only half knew what he was talking about here. "I coulda been really bad though...like REALLY bad."
Er...he was going to close this Gmail tab for now. IF he were to make one of these...he certainly wasn't going to put his actual name anyway.

Patrick had followed every instruction given, after nearly being in trouble he wasn't ready for that terrifying moment yet. His eyes tracked the headmaster as he walked in... now he really couldn't mess up he needed to figure out exactly how he was going to fly under his radar.
Just as he was going to start another google search he heard Professor Stewart move them along an e-mail address he had one for years. Raising his hand he waited for professor Stewart to call on him. "My parents used to send me notes and pictures to my e-mail as a sort of digital scrap book so I would have memories. It makes it easy for my friends from the States to keep in touch with me since the move to Europe." He paused thinking of anything else, but e-mail was pretty basic and very much a great part of communicating. "The muggle world uses e-mail for everything these days." Although, he figured she already knew that. He figured he didn't need to sign up for another one today.

ANYTHING.
Her arrow whipped back and forth across the screen as she waited for the little box thing to pop up as Professor Stewart had said it would but nothing - absolutely not a single thing - happened as Julie sat there with growing frustration. The Seventh year clicked once on the little green, red, yellow and blue circle and waited, counting silently to fifty.
1. This was practically insulting.
5. It had all seemed so easy when Linc had shown her before.
23. this keyboard reminded her nothing at all of keys.
27. Googly was a very strange word, perhaps it was some sort of Muggle slang she was unfamiliar with.
32. Muggle slang, now that would be an interesting lesson.
33. Not to say this wasn't an interesting lesson, Julie couldn't get far enough into it to figure that out.
47. Scrimgeour looked particularly smug and Julie was absolutely choosing to ignore him.
And then, quite like very slow magic the window appeared just as described and Julie almost leapt from her seat with relief. The key word being almost. Clearing her throat, the Slytherin moved her little white arrow toward that funny little box and dramatically paused. All that time and she'd not even remotely considered what she would googly when the time finally came. Stumped, Julie slumped back in her chair and rest her chin on her fist. What did one... Googly? Professor Stewart said it could be a place, a thing or even a person and while plenty of things skipped to the forefront of her mind none of them seemed suitable or like they would be found anywhere in the muggle world. And that was the thing wasn't it? all these lessons and Julie still thought only in the perspective of a pureblooded witch.
Had she been so inclined, Julie might have found herself reaching a sort of crisis, but Julie did not believe in crisis especially those of the public variety and so, with a thoughtful frown she brought her fingers to the poorly named keyboard and wrote the very first neutral object which came to her.
W-H-A-L-E-S
In all caps and spaced far apart and looking every bit of wrong. Julie frowned, she glanced furtively at Scrimgeour before raising her hand to attract Stewart's attention. "Professor," she said, her voice calm and cool regardless of her nerves. "Does it matter if the thing we Googly is spelled perfectly? Mine is, of course - but I was wondering." She quickly added for fear her classmates would think her illiterate. The Slytherin most certainly was not, it was just that this- these weird buttons were not easy to command.
Googly? Oh! Julie meant Google. “I am sure you mean Google and not Googly.’’ Like googly eyes. “No, it does not. If you spell something incorrectly, Google can correct it. For example, if you search for ‘cricket’ and let’s say you spelt it ‘C-r-i-k-e-t', the search will go through but there will be an inscription saying ‘Did you mean ‘cricket’?’ or ‘Showing results for cricket’.’’

Thanks to her mother, she already had an email address that she had no real need for. It sat around in that virtual space gathering metaphoric dust.
Vaguely she caught a few words, permission slips, another class, anything they wanted for their IDs. Questions? No, she didn’t have those. Occasionally she would glance back at her screen and the images her charm had created. They changed every now and then, conjuring up new jackalopes. She’d done her own readings before. It turned out, they were nothing but a myth for muggles but she had one, making it real.
For the most part, it was the birds flying about that held her attention.
She dared not draw her wand again to change her screen so it mimicked the others who were now creating these gmail accounts, just in case. It was probably better to leave it as is and hope the Professor had little need to come back.
Which....probably DID mean looking like she was paying some attention. Huh. Jessa pried her eyes from athe window, her hand once again on her mouse. She would fake it as long as was needed.
Jessa certainly was looking out of that window a lot. Kay knew that Jessa was brilliant in her own way but the woman did want her to pay full attention to the lessons. Possibly at the next lesson, she would request that the Ravenclaw sit at the front of the class. “Ms. Cambridge? I hope you’re paying attention? Let me know if you have any more issues.’’

Her parents had insisted she have one, saying it made it easier to help her remember important dates and her siblings birthdays... Maybe it wouldn't affect the lesson plan... but it was better to ask before she just assumed that meant she was done for the day.
How nice that Joise had agreed with her. Yes, that had been the prettiest dress on display. “If you have an email address already, then that’s fine. You’ll help those that will need to set up theirs.’’

Huh... so the 'e' stood for electronic. Kind of like Owl Mail. Could be omail. or Snail mail could be smail. The thought almost made her giggle, but she remembered that the Headmaster was in the room. Although seeing how Professor Stewart was ignoring him, Hanna figured that's what she should do to. He wasn't there. Wasn't there. Wasn't there...
Ugh, but he was.
Hanna dipped her quill into the ink again, continuing to write everything down. The words Microsoft, Yahoo, and Hotmail made her frown, but she wrote those down anyway. They just had no place in her brain yet, but that was what learning was all about. Finding a place in your brain for the information to go.
Hanna felt like she was mostly able to follow, although she did have to peek at what others were doing to make sure she was on the same page. Literally. So far, it seemed, was okay, and she found herself at the page where she had to put all of her information in. Her name went in, with slowness. Her email, she decided, would just be HSNewton, but as she soon discovered from her own screen, as well as what Professor Stewart was saying, she couldn't actually create an account and become part of the email. Did she even know anyone with the email? Her entire family could be contacted from owls, and any muggle friends she had got the letters sent in the mail after she'd sent them home.
When Professor Stewart asked about questions, Hanna raised her hand. "Professor, w-what other um... things are there that are better than the email?" What could be more technologically advanced than this?!
“There are quite a few,’’ Kay said loud enough for the other kiddos to hear. “There is social media, which is something like a large global gathering. It’s useful for keeping in contact with persons and news travels rather quickly on that. There are also chat applications where you can type messages to a single person or a group of them.’’ She beamed. “We’ll be covering those in a future lesson.’’

Everything about this man sent shivers down her spine and made the hairs on the back of her neck stand up. Was Professor Stewart being sacked as well?
"No...no... NO!"
She thought to herself she didn't want all the nice Professor's gone, she bit her lip trying to hold back tears. Looking at the older Lucas and them in comfort she looked afraid. Afraid that this year was going to end up in a soulless military school standards, she already hated the rules and stupid S.O.R.E workout EVERY morning. It wasn't how she thought her first year at Hogwarts would be, it was like she was living a nightmare.
Turning back to her computer she typed in puppies and kittens and started looking through the pictures. She was slowly starting to feel better, but the thought of her losing nice and sweet professors upset her she didn't want anymore soulless people. Why didn't the Headmaster get dementors to each at Hogwarts then? Then again Stella thought a Dementor probably had more of a soul then the Headmaster and that was saying alot...
Seeing a cute puppy and kitten picture she squealed a bit before googling husky puppies her favorite!
Now... it was time to move onto email, that was interesting she didn't know what that was. Raising her hand she looked at the Professor. "Is it like Facebook and Twitter professor or more private?" Stella asked her curiously. She had those, but not a email so creating one was going to be exciting her parents created her twitter and Facebook account.
The squealed attracted her attention and the woman turned in its direction to see little Stella seemingly enjoying herself with what was displayed on the screen. Ah, it was moments like this that she lived for: when the kiddos were having a good time in her lessons. “It’s a lot more private. You see with social media, you are more likely to be placing information about yourself for almost anyone else to see. With your email, only you will have access to the contents unless, of course, you chose to share your email ID and password with someone else.’’

Which didn't last long, because Abra just happened to glance around at that moment and catch sight of the Headmaster, and the colour drained from his face. What was he doing here? Were they being inspected? Was he there to make sure they were all behaving in classes or something? Abra's immediate thoughts were that, yes, Headmaster Scrimgeour was here to monitor the students, it didn't even enter his head that Professor Stewart was the one under scrutiny.
Now wishing he hadn't chosen a seat right at the back, now very much awake and alert, Abra whipped back around again and faced the computer monitor. The phrase 'Did you mean: cute cats' had appeared at the top of the screen, followed by a small selection of pictures of cats. They were, indeed, cute, but now Abra was a little too focused on the fact that the headmaster was here to be really be comforted by those pictures. He wished Squigs were there, though, and decided at once he would seek out the cat after class for hugs.
Abra wasn't totally sure on how to proceed, but that was okay, because Stewart was continuing the class anyway. He turned his attention to her and... well, he tried to follow what she was telling them. Easier to follow were the instructions; Abra sought out the tiny squares in question and clicked on them when they were instructed to, then clicked on the picture that looked a bit like an envelope, with 'Gmail' written underneath it, followed by 'create account'. It was about that time that he started to get fully overwhelmed with all the the things on the screen, and anxious about whether they would actually be required to make an email account. Abra didn't want to put his name and information into the computer, just the idea made him feel a little jumpy.
Oh. No. It was okay, they weren't doing that, at least not today. FUTURE PROBLEM. Okay, that was fine. Well, Abra had no questions, and nothing to really say about email, so he decided to keep quiet and wait patiently until they moved on. Hadn't Professor Stewart said something about games?
Caught off guard was what had happened to Abraham, it seemed. If someone was not familiar with the process, a page popping up would be startling. Kay patted him reassuringly on the shoulder.

Kaysha nodded. “Yes, emails can be destructive if one with a virus is opened. There are a few subtle ways in which one can know what emails contain viruses but sometimes, even the best can be fooled. Viruses are another topic we will be covering later in the term.’’ She considered for a moment then added for all to hear, ‘’Computer viruses are not contagious.’’ It was a question that had been asked of her in the past.

“That’s a great thing for them to do because you’ll have a chance to keep those memories. Unless you choose to delete them.’’ Which was unlikely. “Oh yes, despite it being used less now, emails are still an effective way to communicate.’’
* * * * * * *
“Alright, everyone! Now that we’ve had a few basic experiences with the Internet, it’s time for you to have a little fun.’’ And with that, she looked defiantly at Scrimgeour. Goodness knows that her kiddos needed it. They had been forced to do those ridiculous exercises each morning, pushups during Divination lessons and had their faces disfigured with boils in the word TROLL. She could hardly wait for the day when Fletcher and the Head Dictator would be sacked.
“There are various websites that allows you to play games. Now, in most cases, you will have a free trial period, where you can play the game for free, but once that’s over, you’ll have to pay in order to download the full game. We have just over twenty minutes left for the lesson so what I would like for you to do is to Google ‘Free Online Games’. You’ll find a host of websites that will allow you to play board games, card games, racing games... whatever you like.’’ Her personal favourite? A game called Bejeweled that debuted ages and ages ago. “The games would give instructions or tutorials on how to play but if you need help still, you can ask me and I’ll try to help or you can make a search.
Have fun!’’
OOC: This is the final part to the lesson and will run up until the 19th of September at 11:00 PM EST. I’ll be posting Kay every 24 hours (I would do so more but work...) so we’re around for more interactions! Wheee <3
PS: I'm sorry but no more catch up is allowed from the time of this post.
Natasha waited patiently as she already had a gmail account. When told to, she googled "free online games". She quickly found an online version of a game called checkers that she liked playing. After the game loaded, she enjoyed a few quick rounds during the remainder of the lesson.
Yeah I broke that mirror, so what? ll NOT backward ll Official Gryfferin ll Lemon's favourite
”Yes, of course Professor.” Jesss replied the moment the woman questioned her attention. Better to assure the woman now than have her walk back down here to check. No, thank you. If she could avoid that then she would.
Seeing this as an opportunity for a bit of creativity while she waited for this class on “games” to end, Jessa once again waited until the Professor’s attention was elsewhere, she drew her wand subtly and did a bit of intricate reprogramming with some well placed animation and illusion charms. A game did appear on the screen, one she’d played a long time ago while she was still in primary school.
It was quite the same this time. Rather than the click of a mouse, the game seemed to react to the subtle movements of her finger.
One hand, she kept on the mouse, moving it about for show, while the other hand more subtly dictated the outcome of the character on the screen. Occasionally, the images would be interrupted by those that belonged to another game and the game itself changed but her method of controlling it didn’t. All it took was a few muttered words. When she didn’t like it, she muttered some more and again it would change.

Hanna took in what Professor Stewart about social media, and things about messengers. "And here I was thinking owl post was pretty quick," she replied, having never actually questioned whether something out there was quicker. Things that sent mail immediately. Hanna imagined if she sent a letter home, and getting a reply within minutes. It was rather baffling.
Hanna wasn't sure what download was, but she knew what games were. This would be fun! But how she'd manage playing a game and using the mouse and the keyboard at the same time - she wasn't sure how that would go.
Pulling back up the google, Hanna slowly made her way back and forth through the keys to type in 'Free Online Games', and clicked the 'I feel lucky' button. Because she wasn't sure what would happen if she pressed the other one. And having the page open up right away for her was good. It brought up something called freeonlinegames - which was not at all surprising. Looking through the icons, trying to find one that looked fun, her eyes fell on a cartoon of a grandma. She moved the mouse over to it and clicked on it, where she discovered the game Angry Gran Run. But there were many of them, which country? Looking through them, she clicked on the Japan one. She always wanted to go there.

In all honesty, all the 'later in the term' talk about things regarding SAFETY were sorta putting him on edge. While he was sure that precautions had been taken with all the computers here - however one did these precautions with this stuff - it was still...you know. The INTERNET. It was ... big and stuff...like the UNIVERSE and always expanding too. There was just...loads there and with them just...hopping to it all and such...he was more than a little uneasy.
Which was why he did not take to searching on this Google thing again just yet and instead began poking around the computer itself to see what was there. And there was a game folder right there with a couple of archaic looking programs that were...games.
Um...
Hand up, Derf waited for Professor Stewart to notice him before speaking. "Can...you get virus things from these game pages too?" he asked warily. "Visiting a page that you think is this neat game but instead it's, you know, like a pogrebin? Disguising itself as something harmless but really just sitting there waiting to devour a visitor?"
And what did they DO if they came across one of those things now?!

Bel had happily been googling stuff relating to motocross, and had even found videos of certain tricks which she was mentally cataloging and going through as to whether she had mastered them herself or not yet, when they moved on to email and the headmaster arrived. She quietly tried to stay on task and not draw any attention.
... and now games. Well okay. She'd rather go back to the videos in all honesty, but if she was getting graded on trying games, that was okay too. Maybe she could find a racing one? She searched for free online motorcycle games to see what came up.....
.... yes?! There were a few hits at the top, but on further investigation, the games that appeared were wayyyy too advanced for this computer, it seemed like. Too bad. Meant she couldn't play them. Hum.
Maybe... if she added retro in front of it? How long did internet stuff last anyway? Technology wise? If they were using million year old rigs, how much of what was available would actually work? And how much from what was available back when these things were current would still be out there? The big questions right here. Bel continued trying to google for games that suited her interests, that would also work with the equipment they had. This was harder than she had expected it to be. Too bad she didn't have a VR set or something, those were epic fun for training.

Goggle searching was confusing, and of course didn't display any results for Quidditch aside from a road somewhere he didn't care about. House prices, what? Goggle emailing was even MORE confusing and Józef didn't actually do much but STARE at the buttons he was supposed to click.
Did Flynn use emailing?
It was a stray thought Józef had about a lot of things - 'does Flynn....?', and of course there was no way to know the answer right then, so he quickly moved on from it, trying to scribble notes as Professor Stewart spoke and Headmaster Boring stared.
Suffice to say, his notes were not particularly coherent, and he probably missed a lot of key information out. BUT now they were talking about GAMES and that was one thing he could get on board with. GAMES. Goggling GAMES was easy, but clicking on the links and FINDING a game was a different story.
He knew how to do the back button now, though.
So BACK to goggle he went and eventually, on approximately page 8 of the goggling search he found a link to a game where you got to defend the earth from aliens.
And that sounded right up his alley.

Games? You didn't have to tell Nettie twice! She smiled, happy that the lesson had taken a more pleasant turn, and opened Google so she could search for some games. She hoped the Headmaster wouldn't take offense to them having FUN, although at this point, she wouldn't be shocked if he did. Soon they would be losing house points for BREATHING.
She clicked on a game that looked interesting and started to click around until she got the hang of it. So, she had to match up these candies and then...she got points. OOOH and sometimes cool things happened! What was this game called? Candy Crush according to the website. Interesting premise...

Jackson was never too worried about Muggle Studies to be honest. The class was more an interest because he got to hear different ideas on how non-magical things work. It could be quite entertaining, and helped spark his creativity. Speaking of entertaining… Today’s class was in the Entertainment Room, and honestly, Jackson could use more of that sometimes. He tried to stay away normally, because he was at a WIZARD school. He could play video games at home… OR if someone wanted to learn of course, he would help them out. Walking into the room, Jackson completely stopped in his tracks when he saw the room. It literally looked like a primary school computer lab. He was having flashbacks of some MUCH simpler times. Finally spotting a busy looking Head of House, Jackson greeted her with a smile. “Good morning, Professor Stewart!”
As she started the lesson, Jackson had his daily internal struggle of answering too quickly. It really wasn’t fair, was it? That he had grown up with this. It’s not like there were classes about what a Hogwarts is. As it turned out, plenty of other students had an idea of how the internet worked, or at least had heard of it. Jackson followed the instructions, which were the loooooongest way of saying ‘turn it on’ he had ever heard. He listened to her explanation of typewriters and cell phones, both of which Jackson was a fan of. Once his computer had started up, Jackson found the Chrome icon… which… he had to admit, he had never realized they were the House colors. Opening Google Search (like he had even heard of the other options), Jackson wondered what he should look up. Hahaha DUH! Now was the best time to look up…
Online games?? Had he not JUST been daydreaming about his summers with his parents, before? The answer was yes. After he had finished cleaning up his inbox a little bit, Jackson went back to the search bar and typed in ‘free online games.’ As the professor knew so well, plenty of options were immediately at his disposal, but he couldn’t remember ever being ASKED to play one of these games. It’s not like they were secretly typing tests or something, which Jackson would NOT appreciate as he was a slow typist. He opened up one of the billions of websites (one that he was familiar with, because yea, viruses were a thing and he didn’t need to crash the Hogwarts… server…(?... yea he hadn’t thought about how all this was getting a signal from muggle networks). He opened up an ANCIENT looking game called Burger Tycoon and began to play. Moo!

Oh, good. The games portion of the class had begun, and Chloe excitedly brought the Goooooooogle back up. Or maybe it was up already, but she brought up the page with the big white box, waiting for her to type in something else. Like, perhaps "free online games".
Because none of the really fun magical creatures came up, anyway.
Chloe searched for games, and she was surprised by the number of results. Millions? BILLIONS? Merlin, Muggles were so kind to be out there entertaining people for free. Chloe clicked on the first button and brought up a brightly colored screen with dozens of playing cards on it. Oh, she knew this game!

While he was waiting for Professor Stewart to address his...spiraling on internet security and stuff, Derf gave a bit of a jump in his seat when he heard Lucas' exclamation about playing WITH each other. Now THAT sounded way better than sitting here plugging along and doing things on their own. The Internet was all about connection, right? Only made sense that they CONNECT with one another.
"Count me in!" he chirped gleefully while offering his friend two thumbs up, momentarily forgetting that Headmaster Doom and Gloom was quite literally lurking in the back of the room still. Index fingers hunting the keyboard for the appropriate letters again, Derf eventually managed to find all the right ones and hit enter.
.............only to be faced with a completely WHITE page and grey text reading: Click to enable Adobe Flash Player. There was also a grey puzzle piece above the text...and Derf felt his heart began palpitating viciously in his chest while his expression was one of complete horror.
WHAT WAS HE SUPPOSED TO DO?!
"UUUUUH...Lucas? I think your site is trying to get me to enable something BAD."

Kay had nodded at Jessa’s reassurance but she was still checking that everyone had managed to find a website and were playing a game. As she approached, she could see Jessa’s mouth moving; she wondered what that was all about. Kay moved to stop behind the girl, taking in the images on the screen. “What game is this?’’ To her, everything looked normal: from the way Jessa’s hand was on the mouse, the game on the screen...

The woman grinned. “Muggle technology has evolved significantly. Most methods of communication are faster than owl post.’’ As for the game the Ravenclaw had chosen... “Interesting. I’ve never played this one.’’ Goodness! There were so many new games!

There was a nod to the Huffleuff when she was finished speaking, who had his hand in the air. “Yes, the computer can. This is the reason there are software developed to protect against viruses. ... and now games.
“Found any game of interest, Ms. Macindoe?” Kay asked curiously.

Yeeeees, they got to play games for the rest of the lesson!
Professor Stewart was the BEST, and Madison was sure that the Headmaster would absolutely LOVE this. In her opinion the man needed to learn how to loosen up and have some fun; he was always so grumpy and unpleasant.
Just as she was about to plug in 'free online games' into the search bar, a boy had decided to YELL and give her a heart attack. It took a few moments for Madison's heart to calm down because she had certainly not been expecting that and he was seated not too far away from her.
Anyway... on to the search!
Madison began trying the words into the search bar, when her computer froze and the screen went weird. Everything was looking whiter and she didn't know how to get it to work again. "Professor Stewart, my computer is being all wonky and I can't get it to fix." Because she couldn't get the mouse to move the pointer across the screen at all.
Benji had excitedly navigated to the site that the older boy had yelled out when he ran into a SCARY SCREEN that had a puzzle piece looking thing and told him to click to make it flash???? Or something like that?????? He was about to panic when he heard Derf yell out that he was having the same problem. Thankfully, Professor Stewart was right there to tell him that it was okay and to click it.
So. Problem solved, and Benji didn't even have to ask for help. Everyone had yelled out the help unsolicitedly. He clicked the puzzle piece and said that flashing was okay (oi, well that didn't sound quite right, but he didn't make up the terms, ya know), then set about trying to find something interesting... Except if the mouse had been cool while twirling about before, THIS WAS A MILLION TIMES COOLER. He couldn't resist the urge to draw giant, swirly circles all over the page with the giant mouse pointer that GLOWED. This was AMAZING. Who needed a game?!
However, a game had been the instruction, and Benji was a rule-follower, after all, so he finally tore himself away from the beautiful, wonderful swirls he was making and clicked at random on a picture that looked interesting. It had a big yellow face that looked friendly. Pac Xon Deluxe? He watched as it loaded and offered him instructions, but he figured with something low-stakes like this, he would rather figure it out through trial-and-error, so he clicked "play" and started poking at buttons and trying to figure out what to do. Hey, this was pretty fun!
Did Scrimgeour care that most of the students in the room paid no attention to him being there? Not one bit. In fact, he actually commended those that remained focused. He wasn't really there to watch them, and their priority was learning. Mind you, the topic of the lesson was ... not even worthy of even being considered mediocre. The old man was tempted to grunt whenever the Muggle Studies professor spoke, but refrained from doing so.
Besides, he had students to berate since it appeared that the woman was incapable of doing so. Another note was marked mentally about her incompetence.
"Excuse me, Kettleburn?" he grunted gruffly at the Ravenclaw girl. His eyes narrowed. At that point he shot a look at Stewart. Not going to do anything about that act of defiance? Typical. His gaze returned to the girl. "You last comment earned you a loss of ten points from Ravenclaw. I recommend you get used to me being here. Your previous headmistress won't be returning any time soon."
Then the instruction continued, which in his opinion was worse than sitting through a History of Magic lecture. And the woman continued to display just how incapable she was at giving consequences out to students who decided that shouting was acceptable in a classroom. So, once again, he had to do the grunt work for her.
"Carden, that'll be ten points from Slytherin for your outburst. Surely a Prefect would know how to control themselves in a classroom."
Then he moved on to the other Slytherin, who was even louder. "Choi, you just earned a twenty point loss from Slytherin. If you want something to shout about, then detention with me can be arranged." The choice was his: he could act like a student was meant to, or they'd be seeing each other very soon outside of the classroom setting.
Icy blue eyes then glared at the woman for a number of reasons. She needed to get a grip on her classroom. Misbehaving students, allowing them to play games, and some of the things they were on failed to function properly... this was a train wreck. Was this how all of the woman's lessons were like after all these years? This was unacceptable.
“I was rubbish at checkers,’’ Kay said conversionally to baby Ravenclaw. “I don’t think nothing much has changed,’’ was the added comment after an afterthought. Still, it was refreshing to see someone give the game a go.
"I wasn't very good when I first started either. It actually took me several years to how to play with any decent strategy." she admitted.

“No, I ———" Before he could answer Professor Stewart and explain that he was most definitely NOT okay because this muggle machine had just gone and ruined everything, the Headmaster was deducting points from him.
He hadn’t even realised Headmaster Scrimgeour was here.
“But——" Actually, no. He figured it was probably best not to retort in any way. He doubted the Scrimgeour would understand the absolute significance of what had just happened and what he’d SEEN on that monitor.
Truth be told, he didn’t even care about the points because spoilers were a million billion trillion times worse. Still, he flushed a deep shade of red and slouched in his seat.
He didn’t even want to play games.
Could this lesson be over now? He needed to go and mourn the death of a fictional character.

Patrick had heard of some online games in his classes as a young student back in the states. Surprisingly, the one that stayed was cool math for kids. He loved playing lemonade stand. So getting a bit excited he typed in the website and waited painstakingly while it loaded. He was used to slow but this was soooo slow. He just wanted to play his game. After waiting what felt like hours he saw the screen load. “yes.” he clicked away on the screen.
He was starting to buy sugar and lemons and sell lemonade. He was a few rounds in making a good profit when he heard the headmaster start taking points. His eyes got big hearing everyone lose points. He was fairly certain that at this point the only people to win was whoever had the least amount of points left. He had sat quietly for so long because he surely didn’t know where to stand yet. He kept clicking the mouse and trying to play the game and avoid being Singled out by anyone.

They were going to get to play games the rest of the lesson! Rylee beamed at Professor Stewart before looking over at Dorian and giving him a wide grin as well. There was no need to tell her more than once.
Typing 'Free Online Game' into the search bar at the type of the screen and hitting the Enter key, Rylee waited for the results to start appearing on the screen. Not sure which game to choose she did the only thing a thirteen year old girl would do. She closed her eyes and clicked on a random link.
Opening her eyes again Rylee found herself looking at a game were she was a little frog and the point was to get the frog across the screen to the other side. There was logs and lily pads and things to jump on but they moved across the screen and if you fell it was game over. It sounded much easier than it looked.

A path is not simply for walking, its purpose lies in moving forward and improving oneself.
"Thanks Rylee" Dorian leaned closer to see her notebook when he had asked if he could see hers. He remembered a sentence, wrote it down and then came back to to see what she had written before writing it down as well. This process went on for a minute or so because the Professor had used some very big computer words but when he was done he nodded to show that he was done.
Back to the task at hand, the Ravenclaw became less bored when they were told to PLAY GAMES. BEST LESSON EVER. Dorian grabbed the mouse and moved the arrow to the search balk and clicked on it until he could type. With two fingers, he typed in the letters of the website they were supposed to visit and when he was finally done searching for the letters he pressed enter.
The computer was slow. Slower than he had thought and he had almost given up and moved his mouse to refresh the page when the page finally loaded. He scrolled through the options until he saw a title that looked interesting enough. Farm Days. No idea what it was about but Dorian double clicked on it anyway.
As the game started, the Ravenclaw got distracted by a voice that was definitely not one of the students. If it were, that person should definitely see a Healer for that... He turned around to look and when he saw that it was the Headmaster, he quickly sat up straight. The man seemed to be too busy taking away points though. If he hadn't been the Headmaster, he would have concidered it rude for him to come in to another Professor's lesson and take away points. But he was the Headmaster so he ...basically had that right now?
Choosing to ignore it all because HE was a GOOD student, Dorian began to play the game. But not before looking at his Head of House and see what would happen. Those two obviously could not stand each other. It didn't take a genius to figure that out. Body language was everything.

Google and emails and headmasters oh my.
Septimus had been jotting down the last of the information shared, including a note about the upcoming permission slips when reactions to the man’s presence had caught his attention. The third year caught himself before he turned fully around, settling for trying to see him and confirm him in the reflection of the computer screen before an ever so quick glance over his shoulder. No wonder he’d had that eerie being watched feeling.
At least Scrimgeour was remaining silent and Professor Stewart was pushing forward with the lesson seemingly as planned. And trying out games was as good a thing as any to try and ignore the man’s presence. It took him a few tries to get back to the main Google page so he could go on a new search, this time for games. The list of results from Free Online Games were extensive and he had just clicked on the first choice to see what was available and wait for it to load when said headmaster decided to break his silence by taking away points.
Septimus bit back a groan. Granted Slytherin had taken the brunt of the damage but there was those 10 points from Ravenclaw. Battles with the man had to be picked and giving attitude hadn’t worked well. Plus, judging by the look Scrimgeour was giving Professor Stewart, it seemed to the third year that it was speaking against their head of house. It was dejectedly that he looked over the list of games, debating on something to try out.
