Herbology Lesson One: Watch out for the vines they like flesh!
IC DATE, Time, Location: Monday morning September 10th, 2096. Greenhouse Three @ 08.30 AM.
It was such a nice early fall morning outside, the weather was mild on what was promising to be a nice 10th September day, not very warm yet, but not very cold either. Holding a morning class was just how Joshua liked it. It was then that minds of the students were most alert and ready to learn. Hopefully the smell of damp soil and cool air in Greenhouse three where this morning’s lesson is being held, won’t cloud your senses too much.
As you enter greenhouse three the first thing you notice is that all the student work tables have been pushed together to create one long and wide octagonal table with the professors desk at the head and behind it a battered blackboard. On the table in front of each student workspace and cushioned chair a potted green, spiky, toothsome big and blooming plant, to the point of overgrowth with long mobile vines awaits it’s student carer. Yes, you might have guessed it already we’re working with the venomous tentacula today! They are sneaky and poisonous so stay alert and have your wand ready to evade the tentacula’s vines if needed.
Waiting just inside the door for the student's arrival Professor Wishart cautions each student as they pass by him "Welcome, please pull on your dragon hide gloves before you take a seat at the table! Be wary of the plant's mobile vines, they like to grab onto flesh. I don't like swearing in my classroom, but today I'll make an exception if the plants gets too playful and close."
OOC: Welcome to Herbology class! If you haven’t done so already then please read through the Herbology Rules and Expectations and the SS Site rules. Note that IC this will not be the first lesson your student will have had with Professor Wishart this term.[U]Have fun! Class has started!
Well, it seemed like Derf was okay. Ish. Or going to be okay. Ish. He'd taken a few more steps into the greenhouse at least, so that was something. Abra made sure not to stare that much after that point, to try and sort of take off the pressure. It was difficult to do something that was already a struggle when people kept watching, you know? Averting his eyes, he caught sight of the new young Gryffindor, Stella, and sent a wave and a small friendly smile back her way.
Anyways. Boy oh boy. Not only was Abra exhausted, but he was also sore. S.O.R.E., haha, geddit? Sore because of S.O.R.E. Haha. Hahaha. Ha. ... This was awful. Abra's legs hurt. He was tired. He wanted to go back to bed. Admittedly staying up as late as he had the night before, knowing that the running exercises and then a day of classes would be a thing, HAD been a bad idea, but whatever. NOT THE POINT.
There wasn't a whole lot of time to despair about that now either, and Abra supposed he ought to have his wits about him in this lesson, so his tiredness and sore legs would have to just shut up for a while. Okay. Venomous Tentacula, what did he know about it? Uhh...
Abra raised his hand - he was, by now, very good at remembering to do that - and looked from the plant at his workspace to the professor. "Its seeds, at least, are a Class C Non-Tradeable Substance in this country. So you'd probably get in trouble with the Ministry for, you know, buying or selling them." At least, Abra assumed so. "Is that because the plant itself is so dangerous once it grows?"

A path is not simply for walking, its purpose lies in moving forward and improving oneself.
Dorian listened to the Professor's words but he did not look at him. He did not mean to disrespect but his main focus was on the venomous plant in front of him. Luckily, so far the plant had not lashed out to him yet but the Ravenclaw was being extremely cautious and held his wand at the ready just in case.
Because of this, the Ravenclaw had completely missed the question and as the students were giving their answers the fourth year tried to guess what it could have been. Most of them were giving facts about the plant so that meant he had probably asked them to tell some random facts.
The problem was.... He had no idea. The only thing he knew was that it was a plant. And venomous. Wait was it actually venomous or was that just the name of the plant? Whatever though because he knew that those answers would not be acceptable. And in his opinion. Silence was better than dumb answers.
Yeah I broke that mirror, so what? ll NOT backward ll Official Gryfferin ll Lemon's favourite
Ah. Not venomous. As she’d thought. Jessa took a seat then, both a little woozy from the five laps and subsequent denial of breakfast and because she didn’t fear these plants. The tentacles, while of some concern could and would be diffindo-ed as needed. There was no need to proceed with further caution.
Blue eyes drifted over to Derf, knowing how he was with plants but he did seem to have people checking up on him already and she didn’t know how much support she could be except to remind him these things would never be able to kill him.
Of course, she heard the Professor’s question but her concentration had been shot to hell and there was no recovering it. Try as she might to think up an answer that wasn’t already offered, nothing came to mind, just images of muffins and bacon and pumpkin juice....and toast with strawberry jam..............and sausages......
Heedless of the plants and now only half listening to the words of her classmates, Jessa placed her head on her desk. Like the term, this class was also going to be a long one.

Crap! Crap!.. He was late and there was no way he could have avoided it! When nature calls you answer! He'd done his best to straighten out his uniform on the way out of the loo, but was still out of line. His copper mop was anything but coiffed. For a visual.. He looked like Raggity Andy..
He hadn't been there to hear anything about needing to wear his dragon's hide gloves and making sure to be clear and not to close to the vines of the Venomus Tentaculars. He DID however arrive just in time to walk far too close to one of the vines and was quickly stung on his left forearm.
" Oowww! Bloody hell! Diffindo! ", Callum exclaimed as he jerked back his arm and pulled and pointed his wand at the offending vine. For a moment he was left sucking air in with a hiss because of the pain.. " What the heck was that? ", he asked.. And then he noticed that everyone had their gloves on. " Oh.. Right. Sorry, Professor.. Didn't mean to be late.. But it couldn't be avoided.... Also.. ", he continued adding a grin, " These tentaculars are used in potion brewing.."
Stella and Dizzy both got little waves when Beth saw them…Beth looked up at Professor Wishart and smiled, ”Are you having a nice day? Despite the whole getting up early to watch all of us run the pitch – thing?” Beth asked smiling still, ”if you want to sir, you are more then welcome to call me Beth…it is my preferred name” she added with a grin before turning her attention to the rest of class.
What were its traits…traits, Vines was a physical trait but it had magical traits too right? Raising her hand Beth spoke, ”they are venomous but not poisonous, a good note of this is from 1912 when Comedian Drewnett Shimpling ate an entire Venomous Tentacula and survived…only his skin was permanently tinged purple.” she paused before adding ”its important I think to note that poisons are absorbed and ingested where as venoms are injected so the vines have to be filled with their venmon and it must get into your blood stream through their shoots for it to effect you” seeee science was fun yeah?
Cause this was basically plant science. Daehyun’s question about the nickname just made her grin. ”nothing, it just doesn’t fit as well as it used to Dusty” Beth informed with a whisper and a grin. Turning her head Beth looked at Callum when he walked in. ”shhhhheesh, careful” she hissed over to her friend before trying to look back up to the front of the room.

Natasha slowly raised her hand. "If the vines get a good enough hold, they can strangle a person to death just as easily as they could poison the person." She says quietly. Being so shy, speaking out amongst the entire class made her feel faint, but she didn't take her eyes off the vines closest to her.

Chase had been very happy to relax when he had arrived at the Greenhouses for today's herbology lesson. He just needed a break. While he enjoyed being active (and running was GREAT!), the extra workout was making his legs feel like muggle jello. HIS POOR LEGS. How was he ever going to be able to ride a broom today after doing TWO workouts.....
Chang-Woo Spenley,at the age of fourteen, was getting too old for all of this.
For the first part of the class, the boy zoned out during the beginning of the lecture but then tuned back in right for the Professor's question. He liked this Professor and felt bad that he had difficulty focusing.... He was just oh so SORE!
What characteristics did Venomous Tentacula have?
"One could say it shares a personality with our new Headmaster. Brutal, prickly, strangles all the fun, perhaps even fatal?" he offered nonchalantly.
Dizzy grinned in acknowledgement to Rylee, but couldn't say anything back. Class had started with a question. Hmmmm.... Traits of the venomous tentacle thingies. Well, just by looking them over quickly, they were green and....
Dizzy couldn't stifle the snort of laughter at the gryffindor boy (Chase)'s reply. "I second that answer. Um..." She glanced over her specimen once more and shrugged. "They burrow into your head, and scoop out your brain, then take residence inside your head. You become a plant zombie, but no one knows, because they're really good actors and play the part of you better than you do! It's all so that they can one day overthrow humanity and rule the world!" She nodded sagely to the Professor. "The Dutch Magical Parliament cleared a coven of plant zombies out of Amsterdam last month."
Dizzy beamed in such a way that it was infinitely clear she was making this all up and knew it. This is what happens she's forced to wake up before the sun everyday, descend around 9 flights of stairs (the stairs up the Ravenclaw tower so counted as two flights!) and run 5 laps around the Quidditch pitch; you get a very loopy Dizzy who finds simply saying, I don't know, to be much too lackluster.
Thus, plant zombies trying to take over the world.
Beth was happily listening to everyone’s comments – her eyebrows knitting together when some points were brought up. But venom and poison were different things… of course she kept quiet – her eyes swiveled back toward Chase at his comment. A small grin blooming in place.
SHE LOVED IT, really…gosh, she loved him…for saying it obviously. Giving Spenley a little nod the slytherin just schooled her expression and listened to Dizzy’s point.
Oooooooooooooooh zombie plant people…gosh, she hoped people believed her.

Lex was enjoying this lesson. She was learning so much about Venomous Tentaculas! She listened with great interest to her fellow students listing off facts about the plants - even though she doubted that all of them were completely true... And she felt a giggle coming on as Chase compared the venomous plants to the school's new Headmaster. She clapped her hand over her mouth to stifle a laugh. She wished she were that brave.

They had been de-venomized? Nettie didn't even know that was a thing, but she was grateful for it. Venomous Tentacula were so...intimidating. Nettie was never a huge fan of plants to begin with, but plants that could KILL her? Yeah. That was a hard pass from her.
She knew enough about them to keep herself safe, that was for sure, so when the professor asked his question, she grinned and raised her hand. "They HATE the sunlight," she answered. It made sense why the plant was so prevalent in gloomy old Scotland....

"Teaching about them with Sergent Scrimgeour in charge is probably a pretty bad idea," was Archer's reply, spoken with a tinge of a chuckle in her voice. "You know, with what he said in his speech about safety and all." She was just looking out for the professor. He was kind of hot. So, you're welcome, Professor Wishart. As for anything more useful, she was out. Everything she knew about the Tentacula had been said already, so anything she added now would only be a repeat. That wouldn't help at all.

So it was the house elves' fault that they were dealing with these plants? Why not make the house elves' fix them? Though that may just make them as students do more work in the future if things went wrong, he supposed. On the bright side, they weren't poisonous anymore.
Ryder blocked out mostly everyone's answers as he pulled out his gloves to put them on, watching his plant like a hippogriff. It may not be poisonous anymore, but it still had spikes. Besides, he had nothing to contribute to the professor's question and the plant needed all his focus.
Although someone's contribution as the cause death seemed accurate enough.

There hadn’t been any question that6 she was going to wait there until Derf pulled himself together. If it meant she’d have to spend the whole lesson standing there near the door, Stasya knew she’d do it. Even if her leg muscles were still burning a little from the running earlier, she could handle it. Although, the others who had also expressed concern were met with support from her too. If knowing he had all these people supporting him helped him, she wasn’t going to begrudge their help. Although, she’d been half-startled when Derf had actually focused on her for several moments, not knowing exactly what was happening. It had made him take a few baby steps forward toward the tables, though, so she guessed it had to have worked. Something had, anyway.
Plus, Professor Wishart hadn’t seemed bothered by her not having gone immediately to a seat, so she’d finally proceeded toward an open station as the lesson apparently had begun. Facts about venomous tentaculas…tentaculi… tentaculae? She wasn’t really confident about giving any sort of response, half distracted by just trying to figure out the plural name and also just her general distrust of plants that could strangle or otherwise injure her. Either way, she’d stayed quiet while others around her had offered their thoughts. Something told her Dizzy’s suggestion wasn’t exactly true, but it was definitely nearly as amusing as Chase’s comparison of the plant to Scrimgeour. She just was going to focus more on not getting attacked by the vines.

Venomous T...thing. Well, at least he'd know they are poisonous because of the name...it's something you're not supposed to mess up with or you'll end up dead-- it's pretty much what Chase wanted to say, or so he thought. The younger Lion's response earned him a snort from this Hufflepuff, and quickly covered up his mistake by fishing out his writing implements, and started to take down some notes.
And on his notebook, he wrote: 'Venomous Thing = "Trunchbull >:-D"'' That pretty much sums everything up, didn't it?
Yup. Nailed it.

Oh Dear Merlin .... the professor actually wanted them to do something with this plant ... he was terrified that was going to be the case .... ugh ... thus far he had been doing his best to avoid eye contact with any of the plants .... or not trying to move at all because he didn't want to draw attention to himself.
Bernie was not prepared for this ... he hadn't studied anything about these plants because he frankly never wanted anything to do with them .... so raising his hand he quietly spoke the obvious "Ummm.... it's venomous" .... ugh face palm ... how could he be so stupid to give that answer ...

Showing even more serious signs of relief when it was confirmed that he could cast a Freezing Charm on the plant - though he was not looking to cast a SEVERING charm on one since, well, that was hacking off a limb and even if Derf did not like this breed of plant all that much....he didn't want to do THAT to them either. He could be humane still. Yes.
Settling down in his seat, after giving both Stasya and Abey (though the latter was no longer looking his direction) appreciative looks, the sixth year'S primary focus was to get his particular venomous tentaculas completely immobile - otherwise there was no way on this green earth that he was going to be able to focus. So...facts about venomous tentaculas? He had his share since he was the product of two herbologists, the majority of which his classmates had already uttered, but for this round...Derf would be remaining silent and instead keep an eye on those potentially DEADLY spikes.
Adolescent or not, you know? Because really, it would be ignorance to underestimate adolescents.
Wand at the ready, Derf spent the entirety of this first question and answer period shooting of whispered 'Immobolus' at any vine that was coming his way. And, well, either the plant was adapting and learning that spells were being shot at it ... therefore DODGING his charm...or there was a very unfortunately timed movement of one of the remaining mobile vines.....because the jet of light went STRAIGHT through and towards one of his classmates.

Daisy thought about her answer and when one popped into her mind, she raised her hand and answered, "Chizpurfles are a source of food for Venomous Tentaculas. The dorsal outer shell of the Chizpurfle is spat out by the plant after digesting the rest of the creature. I think there's a name for that part but I'm not sure of it."

Every time Patrick went to raise his hand to answer another person would say his answer. It was like question hell for him. He wanted to answer but each time he thought he had come up with a viable answer gone again. He was just about to raise his hand when he heard someone mention they were similar to their headmaster. A snicker wanted to escape his lips but he reigned it in... for now.
Grabbing his pen and paper he began writing down the answers that people had given with a loose drawing of the plant. He tallied each time a student answered the same answer. He glanced up at the professor afraid he would think he was not paying attention but why would he continue to add what others had already added?
But then a young Hufflepuff caught his attention (callum). He took in the kids deep breaths and noticed his robes were all sorts of cattywampus. But he didn’t want to draw any more attention to the poor boy than he was sure he had already done himself by being late.

Having responded and felt confident with his answer Mark continued to keep a close eye on the Plant ahead of him. Not confident yet with his spell work to either sever or freeze the plant he continued to keep a safe distance away from it's ensnaring vines.
Unfortunately his position was in a direct path with an incoming spell. Which he had not seen. What he did see was his Venomous Tenticula had reach. When he heard the shout for 'Duck!' he assumed it was for the Vine reaching for him So he ducked. And the Vine missed him very grateful for the heads-up. As he begun stand the spell made direct contact with him and he was stuck in this odd semi-squatting position.

Ducking under the vine that then made a grab for his hair, Derf readied his wand again to finish the job when he saw the result of his rogue spell.
GAH!
HELPLESS FIRST YEAR AT....er....SOMETHING O'CLOCK!
Leaping up from his seat - because Merlin help him if he Finite'd the vines he had been working on freezing in his haste - the sixth year scrambled over to the Ravenclaw and pointed his wand at the top of his head. "Finite!" Breathe, Derfael. "I'm sorry about that," he apologized with a firm ruffle of his hair. "I was aiming for the vine."
And....er...he slowly turned his head and glanced at the professor now that that dust had somewhat settled.
And in all the commotion and his own self induced chaos...Derf had entirely missed Callum arriving late.

Everyone who spoke was like background noise as he drifted off into his own thoughts. His lost gaze remained glued to the plant however, which was also why his wand was now dangerously close to poking the plant in a not so friendly way.

It seemed that the youngest students weren’t too scared to answer. He admired that. Flashing a smile over at Lex he responded. "Right you are Lex! An adult tentaculas bite can indeed prove fatal. However these are very young plants so if you get bitten it won’t kill you and you won’t need to stay very long in the hospital wing. Their teeth can hurt you yes but it will probably just lead to small scratches or wounds. Their teeth haven’t sharpened or grown to their max height yet."

As for things about the venomous tentacula? He raised his hand. "Venomous tentacula juice can make your skin purple," which, if it weren't for the whole poisonous thing, would've been quite awesome.
Hearing Daehyun’s voice it took a moment before Professor Wishart found the lion sitting next to Stella. Nodding he said "Correct Daehyun, the tentcula’s juice if drunken can turn the skin of your whole body very purple." He had seen a few pictures of such cases.

When it came his turn to answer, "They er... can be scary." Not that he was scared. Nope, nope. He was just being cautious around something that can kill or at the least hurt him badly.
Turning to Taddy he smiled as he answered "You are correct! The tentaculas be very scary. There is no x rating like for dangerous creatures but if there was one then the tentaculas would probably fall under the xxx or xxxx rating.”

Tessa provided another describable trait for the plant as Professor Wishart turned to look over at the lioness with a smile. "Yes the tentcaulas have spikes that can be seen as dangeorus but it’s good to remember that the spikes aren’t poisonous." You had to remember that not all of the plant was poisonous or deadly.

As the first question was posed, the Ravenclaw tried to focus on an answer rather than on the plant wanting to try to strangle him.
“They eat chizpurfles,” he answered after raising his hand. At least he thought that was what he remembered them eating.
Looking over at Septimus he nodded almost excitedly now. "That’s correct Spetimus. The tentaculas eat chizpurles. But you know what the gross thing is? They spit the chizpurfles carapces out when they’ve finished eating." It had made him sick once in his life but now Professor Wishart mused to himself.

She raised her hand and said "Professor they can be used to assist with defending one. I mean, if you were being attacked you could throw the plant to whoever is attacking you, and the Venemous Tentacula would attack them and give you enough time to get away. Expecially because they'd be too busy to fish their wand out."
Flashing a smile over Hanna he answered. "Yes right you are Hanna! Tentaculas have been as history show and are used even nowadays as defenders of wizards as well as plant gardens. If you get attacked and don’t have your wand nearby then you could definitely throw a venomous tentacula at your opponent because the poison from thier shoots are fatal in high concentration and their vines can strangle." A good plant to have in fight definitley!

"Some of the Venomous Tentacula can have multiple heads on different appendages" He answered, it was a blessing his dad had books about all the dangerous man-eating plants.
Turning to Mark he responded. "Yes that’s true Mark! The biggest adult tentaculas can have multiple heads on their arm like appendage vines that all have sharp teech and can shoot spore balls at an unsuspecting victim." Professor Wishart knew that that bit of information would probably make some of the students recoil backwards from their work stations.

Name one trait of the Venomous Tentacula? Easy. "If you get on its bad side, you'll find yourself in a living nightmare. Kind of like me. I share that trait with the Tentacula."
And yes, he was already off to a terrible start.
Zoryn definitley knew how to try to joke if that was how Prof.Wishart was supposed to take her answer? Anyways flashing a glance to the lioness he said with a nod "Yes you are sort of correct Zoryn since getting on a tentaculas bad side is never good since they are dangerous and poisonous."

He could also remember that people have died from this plant… He couldn’t remember who right now, but he knew that one of the legendary professors of Hogwarts’ spouse had been killed by a bite once.
Eyes turned to Jackson as offered up a trait. Furrowing his brow's at the eagle prefect Professor Wishart asked "Jackson you mean that the vines sound like they rattle right when they actually aren't moving not the seeds? The seeds can't be seen." He was a little bewildered.

Turning to smile at Madison he nodded "All forms actually can shoot out spiky spore balls at their chosen target when angry or hungry." Prof Wishart hoped for everyone's sake that no tentacula would do that today.

That was the kind of facts one could expect from this Gryffindor: hella useful ones.

Professor Wishart smiled over at Stella as he responded back "That's correct Stella. The shape and size of a tentaculas mouth and how many leaves it has changes with each plant." Sort of like with people. No person was totally alike someone else.

Hearing Abraham’s voice Professor Wishart turned to face the lion prefect with a nod ”Good Abra, actually its not just the seeds that you can get in trouble with the ministry for trading or buying, but also the juice, leaves and spores..”

Turning his attention over to Anabeth he said to the Slytherin with a smile. ”I’m having a lovely morning so far Beth. I’ll try to remember that is what you want to be called.” But if Prof Wishart didn’t then he hoped she wouldn’t think less of him. Listening to her answer he responded. ”Very good explanations Beth. Venoms does need to be injected into a target to have effect while poisions need to be drunk or otherwise be absorbed by the body to take effect.”

It was nice to see that Natasha contributed with answer. Smiling over to the young ravenclaw Professor Wishart said ”Very good observation Natasha.. The vines of an adult tentacula can definitley strangle a victim to death just as easily as poision them.” But most of the time the tentaculas used the poison to make their victim less likely to fight back before they went in for the kill. He didn’t tell the girl that. He didn’t want to scare her.

What characteristics did Venomous Tentacula have?

" Oh.. Right. Professor Wishart’s gaze immediatley went to the entrance of Callum looked like something the cat had dragged in with his robes in disorder. As if that weren’t enough he was LATE, didn’t have his gloves on and of course got himself attacked by one of the tentcula’s vines. Taking a breath he moved over to the boy as he pulled out an ice pack from one of his many robe pockets as he said sternly. ”That’s 10 points from Hufflepuff for your late arrival to class and your dishelved appearance and shouting Callum. What have you been doing all morning to attest for your lateness to class?” Hmm??
Pointing with a finger to the nearest plant he said as he held out the ice pack still a mellow tone. ”The plant is a venomous tentcula as you would have known if you had been to class on time Callum. Put this ice on your arm against the burn. Find a seat and pull on your dragon hide gloves quickly, is that understood Callum?” Before he turned to the other students he said in a much softer tone ”But you are correct Callum that tentculas can be used in potion brewing.”

"DUCK!"
In the corner of his eye when he had been reprimanding Callum he had seen that Derfael had been up to something at his work station. Professor Wishart turned just in time to hear him shout DUCK at the top of his voice. Wipping out his wand he quickly cast immobulus on the plant as he shouted over at Derf ”That’s enough Derfael! Stop right this minute with casting immobulus at your plants vines! Push your chair back several steps and take a needed breath. Your plant will not attack you! But Why?! Who? Where?
Spotting Mark’s ducking figure Professor Wishart called over worriedly. "Are you all right Mark? You can sit up now. It’s safe. Nobody is going to be shooting anymore spells your way.” Could the drama end now so that he could move on?
It was time to summarize for the students benefits so that those who had been paying attention and those that had been a tad distracted could take notes. Taking out his wand Joshua tapped it against the blackboard where words magically started to appear on the left and right sides. Allowing the students some moments to finish their note taking Joshua casted some non-verbal spells at some of the longer mobile tentacula vines that were attacking his desk’s equipment.
"Venomous tentaculas are a very dangerous and poisonous toothsome plant with vine appendages that acts like arms that it ensnares living prey with that some of you might have already experienced and spores that it can fire from it’s mouth. They prefer eating chizpurfles, but they aren’t picky. Venomous Tentacula parts such as its seeds,, venom, spores, leaves and juice are highly sought after by many in the magical world but if you trade with or buy any of these parts of the tentacula you will be in trouble with the Ministry of Magic since they've put the venomous tentacula on their non tradeable list.
Many witches and wizards have tentaculas in their gardens as guards against vegetable and/or plant eating creatures and they can also be used in potions even if they are very poisonous." Joshua paused here to allow for note taking and he took the time to stroke and then slap a vine away fondly that had started to wrap itself around his feet.
"If you all look in front of you to your assigned tentaculas now, can someone guess how we are going to extract the juice I mentioned from inside them? We need to extract the abundance of juice because it’s what’s making the tentacula’s so big and overgrown right now. Also does anyone know what we should keep in mind when dealing with poisonous plants even if these have been devenomed?” Joshua wondered.
OOC: Question 2 time! Joshua want’s a guess from each student on how they think they should go about extracting juice from the plants and/or what to keep in mind when dealing with poisonous plants. You can answer both questions or just one of them it’s up to you all. Both correct and wrong answers are accepted. Lesson will continue in 24 hours @ approx 7pm GMT+2 on Friday September 7th.
Note: I know I haven't replied to/added in any spoiler for student responses this time or reacted to any vine drama. I will add in those respones tomorrow or at the latest this weekend I'm currently too tired to think straight after a looooong day at work and possibly coming down with something so just answer the next question for now. I see all your lovely posts and they deserve to be answered by a clear thinking Eva...

Resting her parchment against her textbook, placed on her knee rather than the desk, Hanna wrote down some of the points Professor Wishart spoke of. It was a rather tricky thing to do, at such an angle, and some of her ink smeared slightly, but it was all jotted down.
Raising her hand, she said "You can extract the juice from the leaves by boiling them in water. And then you can boil the juice down into a concentrate." She'd seen her uncle do that when his stores became low. As for the other question, "Well we can wear protective gear." Like their dragonhide gloves!
