If you are eager to see, be seen, and get to school first, then the front passenger cars of the train are for you. Just like the other cars, a long corridor provides access to the many compartments, each labelled with a letter, available for you and your friends to hunker down in until the train has come to a complete stop. Cushioned seats and large windows, allowing perfect views of the British scenery on your journey, await.
Well, what are you waiting for? Slide open a compartment door and make yourself at home. Place any of your belongings not in the luggage car on the racks above you. Chat with your friends about what you did this summer, enjoy munching on the snacks you bought from the trolley lady, get ahead of the game by reading your textbooks, or take a long nap as the train travels over numerous hills and mountainsides. Whatever you do, exhibit your best behaviour -- the prefects will be regularly patrolling the corridors and poking their heads inside your compartment to make sure you are doing so.

Nettie felt like her summer had just FLOWN by. Still, part of her was super excited and VERY ready to get back to school. She was going to CRUSH it this year! Now that she knew what to expect in terms of classes, it would be easyyyyy to get top marks in everything!
Also, she had her new Nimbus with her, so she was ready to GO when it came to quidditch tryouts. She was a bit nervous about adding orchestra to her lineup of extracurriculars, but she missed her cello far too much. It was time to bring that back.
Mind wandering as she started to think about all the FUN she was going to have now that she was a big bad second year, she plopped down in a compartment, let Rudy out of his kitten carrier, and looked out the window as she got lost in her thoughts.

Honestly, how did his summer ended so quickly? He was just on a plane to the US a couple of days ago, and now he's back in London, aboard the Hogwarts Express bound for school. He would've protested that they all needed a longer vacation because it wasn't easy to get over the Inferi attack from last term. It was a lot harder for Charlie, as a no-maj to seek professional help to help him get over the incident. Muggle psychologists will think he's lost it-- apart from breaking the Statute of Secrecy that is. Maybe...maybe he should've paid his old school Healer a visit before boarding the train. "Whyyyyyy am I doing this to myself???" Charlie dramatically pulled the cabin door open with closed eyes...thinking that the compartment was empty and plopped on the seat nearest the door.
He too had his trusty Starsweeper XXI broom with him, placing it in between his legs, and rammed his head against the handle in frustration. He thought summer was going to get him back on track...but having failed to join the U17 team, and missing out on J-Nash Matthew's Quodpot games...AND having to re-sit his exams that Winter...AND his mandatory exams called OWLs later that year...M e r l i n. How the heck would he ever get himself ready for all of that? He knew his academics have to come first if he wanted to stay in the Team...and to make it to U17, but...BUT...
"Jeez, this is insane."

Abigail nervously climbed up the steps into the trains corridor, she looked around at the other students and clutches her backpack straps pulling the bag tighter against her. She had never seen so many children in one place and honestly it felt as if all eyes were on her. She knew she didn’t belong here but the letter said Hogwarts Express, Platform 9 3/4 and well that was the train she was on.
She pushed her way through the aisle and luckily found an empty compartment, she didn’t necessarily want to spend the entire journey alone but was more or less afraid that she would be laughed at cause surely someone got this wrong. She decided to leave the door open as she sat against the window. She watched as parents stood on the platform waving at their children. Mum and Dad had stayed back in Kings Cross so that they wouldn’t miss their train back to Edinburgh.

Rylee made her way onto the train in silence, her small fluffy white kitten Lamb cradled against her chest. Having already said her 'I'll see you soon's' in the form of hugs before even arriving at the platform made it easier to leave. Not that she even wanted to leave. Everything about returning to Hogwarts made her want to remain at home. She was definitely having one of those days were she wanted to lay in bed and do nothing. Hopefully seeing some of her friends soon would fix that.
With her things all tucked away in the luggage compartment, the third year quickly entered the first empty compartment she came across. Sitting down she tucked herself into the corner beside the window setting Lamb down on her lap and her bag at her side. Vaguely her mind wandered towards the items that were locked away in her trunk, the ones she had bought with her own money just a few days earlier. Maybe she should have kept them in here with her along with her violin. At least then she would have something to do...
To late now.
Pulling a sugar quill from her bag she nibbled at it while staring out the window, fingers running through her kitten's fur repeatedly.

If he was able to survive a possession AND an Inferi attack at Hogwarts, Dorian was a tiny bit sure that he would survive whatever Hogwarts had planned next. But the thought of going back to that place made him even more nervous than he usually was.
But despite his nervousness, the Ravenclaw looked different. More focused... Currently there were extra sets of DADA books from years above him in his bag that he carried over his shoulders and the fourth year had made it his mission to learn how to defend himself properly.
First he needed to find a place to sit though, he hated reading while standing and in a moving train? Hahaha no.
Finding an compartment with the door wide open, Dorian stopped before looking inside and saw that it was occupied by one person. Perfect!
"Are you waiting for your friends or is this seat open?" he asked.

Nettie jumped a little when the door to the compartment opened. An older boy walked in, and Nettie was about to open her mouth to ask him what the heck he was doing - and she realized his eyes were closed. Um. Ok. He very dramatically sat down across from her, and once the initial shock of the intruder had worn off, she grinned. Hellooooooooo VERY handsome older visitor! Even if they didn't talk much, at least she'd have something pretty to look at during the ride! He was MUCH more interesting than the boring old Scottish countryside. Also, did she detect an American accent? Hmmm.
"What's insane?" she asked him, smiling and waiting for him to realize that the compartment was, in fact, occupied. Rudy was smashed in the corner, more taken aback than his owner about the intrusion, watching the new visitor with wide kitty eyes.

Drew had left his compartment for a little bit. He had forgotten to bring extra food from the Stemp House before leaving, and he needed to keep a few for later. From his two years of experience, he had learned that waiting for the welcoming speech took waaaay longer than the time they needed to eat. He was coming prepared, that was for sure. Saving his favourite grilled cheese for later, he went to search for the food trolley. He could use some chocolate frogs and licorice wands for the entire train ride.
On his way to the front cars, he did, however, notice a familiar someone alone inside a compartment. That familiar someone being one of his friends, who he would usually see with other people instead of alone. That was weird. Drew made a quick glance at the food trolley before sliding open the compartment door and knocking lightly on the glass to catch Rylee's attention.
The food trolley could wait. There were still some other students in line, anyway.

Théodore Montmorency was ready for this year to start off with a bang or really just better than last year. Even tho he could barely remember even taking the train last year. Weird. AThis summer was a mix of awesomeness with the U17 team and music festivals and even visiting Julie wasn't awful or Marisol which was the weirdest thing this summer by far. Actually going to her house. Tho he did tell Seldy about everything which made a couple says suck hardcore. Sucked even worse than having to take the OWLs again which word of advice make sure you only take them once because twice is awful.
Anyway back to the present and dealing with now almost every kid was younger than him. It was weird and he cant chill thinking that or does Théo even know how to chill or should he try out for the house team this year after not last year?
Deep Questions.
Also, why was he in the front car and not his usual back car. Many this year was already starting off differently. The now 6ft tall 6th Year scratches his head as he debates finding Sylvie or anyone he knew. Maybe he should get out his plush quaffle and start throwing it at random people....maybe
He just cant be left alone to his thoughts.
That would be torture.

Natalie was in a rather splendid mood. A mood that she hadn't been in in quite some time, especially at Hogwarts (or on the way to Hogwarts). Natalie was honest with herself; she had been quite a DOOZY-DEBBIE-DOWNER for the last year. But the summer was spent repairing relationships and friendships that she had abandoned and neglected and she felt good about where she stood with.. just about all of them.
And now she was ready to take on her sixth year. No exams to study for this year meant she was going to have fun. She insisted on it.
Liam was.. somewhere, probably with Cam, and she knew she'd see them later and she had a new book that she wanted to dive into on the long ride to Hogwarts, so Natalie opted for one of the front compartments. Maybe she'd find a familiar face to sit wi-- Oh, look. Theo.
"Hello, Theo," the Slytherin said pleasantly at the door. He was by himself. He looked lonely. "Ready for sixth year?" Small talk, you know. It was a good way to find out if he was saving his compartment for his friends. Of course, she could have just asked... but she was in a good mood, remember?
Lex had spent far too much time away from Hogwarts, in her opinion. Her first year had been nothing short of amazing, and she was ready to get back to school and learn more. She had spent the summer traveling around the world with her cousin, Magnolia, who was a well-known singer, and Lex had loved visiting all of these places, but she was eager to get back to the one place she had really felt at home... Hogwarts. Her second year was about to start, and she couldn't wait to resume her studies! Not that school was her favorite thing in the world, but she wouldn't rather be going anywhere else.
Lex found an empty train compartment and entered it. She had grown a few inches over the summer, and she was now quite tall for her age. She sat down, trying to keep her long legs tucked under the seat in case someone else wanted to sit in this compartment too. Lex's knees stuck out awkwardly. Well, maybe not, but she felt quite self-conscious.
Not wanting to seem too nervous about the new term (despite the fact that she was, and she could bet that anyone passing by could hear her heart thumping in her chest), Lex put a bright smile on her face as she peered at all of the other students walking past her compartment, getting ready for the new term as well. She secretly hoped she wasn't the only one who was this nervous.
Rylee made her way onto the train in silence, her small fluffy white kitten Lamb cradled against her chest. After saying her goodbyes to her parents and promising that she'll write them, Stella stepped onto the train with her two brothers biting her lip nervously. As her brothers went ahead of her to find their friends she frowned. " Hey! Mum and dad said you were suppose to be make sure I got on the train ok and stay with me!" she said crossing her arms. " Yeah...like we're really going to stay with you the whole train ride!" her brother Phoenix that was two years older than her. As they walked off laughing with their friends, Stella was left all alone. "Who needs those buttheads, I got friends too just haven't seen them yet!" she thought to herself.
Walking down the narrow hallway she looked and seen no places really, and she really didn't feel like walking all the way down the train just to look for a seat, besides anything to get away from her butthead brothers that went down the hallway towards the back of the train. Rolling her eyes at the thought of them she looked in a compartment after compartment apologizing to those who gave her weird looks or deathly glares. Opening the door of a compartment she seen a girl about her brother Phoenix that was two years older than her and a boy about the same age. " Um... sorry to intrude, but can I sit with ya'll? I really don't want to go all the way to the back of the train and my brothers left me on my own." biting her lip she seen her brothers and mumbled. " Buttheads.

After a while of sitting in the back compartments, Madison had started to feel hungry. It would be no problem to stop by the food trolleys and get some candies since she had more than enough change in her pockets. She had seen it earlier when she had first boarded, so she knew EXACTLY where it was.
Soon she was loaded with candy. She placed most of the candy in her pocket, but had left out a chocolate frog to enjoy on her way back to her seat. Eagerly she opened the box, but before she could nab the frog, it had hopped away and into one of the compartments.
Well, that's just great...
Sighing, she made her way over. "Sorry about the chocolate frog," she said as she looked around at the two girls (one who was standing in the doorway) and the boy.

Zachary did not know ANYONE - and that frustrated him.
Quick to remedy it however, he side eyed all the younger kids and approached the only two people he saw close to his age.
"Mind if I join you guys?" he asked, looking between the two - however eyes obviously lingered a little too much at the girl. "I am new and don't know anyone" he added with a small grin.

Silence. The sweet sweet HORRIBLE sound of silence. That's all Rylee was met with sitting in this compartment all alone. Well technically she wasn't alone as she had her kitten Lamb with her but the little guy was sound asleep on her lap already. Still staring blankly out the compartment window she continued to enjoy her sugar quill until...
FINALLY the silence was broken!
The light knocking on the compartment door caught her attention instantly. Turning her head only enough to see who was standing there her blue eyes fell upon a face she knew very well and a smile tugged at her lips. "Drew!" And just like that her mood went from melancholy to 'I think I'll be okay'. "Come sit with me?" she asked softly nodding at the empty space on the bench beside her. He was one person that was always welcome to join her without question. Lamb slowly lifted his head to look at Drew, gave a very soft 'meow', stretched himself out on Rylee's lap and went back to sleep.
While talking to Drew there was someone else at the compartment door... someone she didn't know. From the looks of it a firstie maybe. Couldn't be sure going by height... she herself was still small for her age. "Hi! Not at all, come on in. I'm Rylee and this is Drew. This is La-..."
"Lamb! No! Leave it alone!" she yelped leaping up onto her feet when her fluffy which Munchkin kitten hopped down off her lap and skidding across the compartment to corner something. A chocolate frog?! That was what someone behind the young girl standing in the doorway had said. Chocolate. Oh dear Merlin! "Chocolate isn't good for kitties, Lamb." Quickly scooping her cat up she cradled him close to her chest while he continued to swat his paws around in hopes of catching that candy frog.
"It's okay! My kitten didn't get to it. It's over here in the corner," Rylee told the girl finally getting a look at her. She looked a little older but she didn't know her either.

Oh, and another thing? He ought to take his classes more seriously this term. He didn't want a repeat of last time where he was rendered useless. He only knew how to fly and use his broom, and apparently, it wasn't enough to survive Hogwarts. It was a good thing his friends were more capable than him. Charlie rammed the handle against his forehead once more before acknowledging the voice he heard.
He thought he was going insane. He could now hear voices too-- but this one's female and wasn't American at all.
Charlie opened his eyes, and saw a girl staring back, and smiling at him. Now that's even stranger. Was he seeing things now too? He could swear the cabin was empty a while back. The American sighed and rubbed his left cheek against the broom handle as he considered her question. "Me...on this train, going back to Hogwarts after last term's happenings. That's what's insane." he blinked...and blinked some more, and eyed the cat on the corner. Charlie shook his head and looked at the girl, to the cat, then to the door. "Wowzers I am not seeing things, am I? Like...you're real?" The Hufflepuff took a good look around the compartment and realized that NONE of it were his belongings. "Oooooooh, shoot. Wrong cabin." Charlie winced, and looked at the younger student sheepishly. "I'm terribly sorry. I should...yeah, show myself out." The Hufflepuff stood up, and reached for the cabin's door. He really ought to look where he's going next time.

Théo took a seat and placed his hands behind his head looking at the ceiling of the compartment trying to relax. It was already way to quiet for his liking in here which meant probably he will be getting up and just walking around the corridor. "Hey, Nat. Well maybe not ready for NEWT level stuff"
Since he was pretty dumb and now it just keeps getting harder even in classes he likes
"But happy no more OWLs...how you do on those?"
Maybe she was there when he had to retake most but well his memory sucks for everything not quidditch related. Guess now it was getting busy tho merlin was he blunt. Théo didn't recognize him at all but really this train was full of people like that. He didn't have anything to even say except look at Nat and shrug.
"Sure i guess, what year you in?"

Drew almost felt sheepish that he had came to crash on Rylee. It seemed like she was having a really deep thought, and he was probably the reason why she no longer was caught up in it. "....I-I hope I wasn't interrupting," he said, before his eyes fell on the kitten on the Gryffindor's lap. That must be her new pet, he made a conclusion.
And it was meowing at his general direction. The thirteen year old blinked in response, and was probably a tad bit confused, before he watched the kitten fall back to sleep. Hmm.
But since Rylee had given him sort of the go signal to sit with her, he obliged with no hesitation. He carefully slipped on the seat beside her, though putting some considerable distance between him and her kitten. It looked peaceful, yes, but he was just staying on the safe zone for now. "...A-are you okay?" Because, by the looks of it, her deep thought seemed very much on the down side.
He immediately turned to face the door when he heard it being slid open, and he saw a younger girl (Stella). Drew made an assumption that she was a first year because he was just like that two terms ago. Except he wasn't sharing compartments with the older stranger students. First year Drew had went to look for any of the older Stemp House resident with whom he could sit with for the next long hours in the Express. He side glanced at Rylee to see if she was okay with it, which was an obvious yes and he had not expected any other response. "C-come on in..." he offered a tiny crooked smile and nodded at the seat opposite him and Rylee. There were lots of space here, but he decided to let Rylee do all the talking.
That was, until another girl's (Madison) chocolate frog came hopping inside their compartment. Which was, honestly, a terrible time for it because that had apparently woken Lamb up. Drew instantly pulled his feet closer to himself and he hugged his legs when the kitten leaped off Rylee's lap. Nope, he wasn't going to get involved in this. Nada. He watched everything with wide wiiiide eyes.
".....I-is the chocolate frog sssafe?" Important question.

Standing up, Lex decided to get some sweets from the food trolley - anything to satisfy her hunger until the feast later. Lex shoved some coins into her robes and walked out of her compartment, and started making her way to the food trolley. She left her things behind - she would return soon.
The sight of the scarlet steam train was a welcome one. With a small sigh, Ewan knew he was finally on his way home. Pulling up his hood, he walked down the carriage, looking for some peace and quiet. Stopping at the front carriage, he couldn't help but several voices already in deep talk

Natalie wasn't ready for NEWT level stuff either because she didn't have the attention span or really any DESIRE for it, but she was glad that they didn't have any hardcore exams this term. She was glad her OWLs were over. She didn't do great, but she didn't take the opportunity to retake them because she probably wouldn't have improved on them.
And she was ABOUT to say all that when a boy showed up beside her asking if he could join them. He looked about their age, but she didn't recognize him. She stepped out of the doorway and gestured him in. "Yeah, sure." And then she waited for him to answer Theo's question.
Then she took the opportunity to sit down across from Theo and resume their talk about exams. "I did okay." She shrugged. "I don't really test well." And she sucked at magic, so the practicals didn't go great either. "How did you do?" She asked Theo, but then she glanced at the newcomer to see if he wanted to join the chat.

Walking down the corridor at the front of the train, Lydia spotted a familiar face. It was Ewan! So much had happened during their first year, but being back in the Muggle world during the summer had made the memories fade a bit. Lydia was eager to get back to the wizarding world and practice her magic, and she was especially eager to see old friends again.
"Hello, Ewan," she said. "How was your summer?"
Noticing an empty compartment, she shrugged off her backpack and took a seat. It would be a long ride to Hogwarts, she knew, might as well get comfortable!

Hearing a familiar voice, Ewan turned around and to his surprise, it was a fellow second year student. "Lydia?" he replied, pulling his hood down so not to seem too anti-social. Thinking back, he couldn't remember the last time he'd seen the Slytherin girl although he did leave half way through the school year. With a small smile, he followed her into the cabin and closed the door, torn between wanting to be alone and to be with people.
Sitting down, he eased into the seat. "I'm...umm... yeah I'm okay. How are you? How's your summer?", subject quickly. Giving a small shake, he wiggled down into his chair and out his feet up on the seat opposite.
Alastair entered one of the front carts. He was excited for another term to begin and be back at Hogwarts. He knew his time at school was more than half over and he wanted to enjoy the rest of his time there.

“You’re not. You never do.” Shy, sweet, Drew. When was he going to see that she was never bother by him joining her, no matter what her mood was? Like right now. Sure she had been lost in her own little world staring blankly out the compartment window but that didn’t mean that she didn’t want or need a friend. “I was just sitting here is all.” See, even more reason for him to sit with her and keep her company.
The distance Drew put between them was cause for confusion. He had never cared about sitting right at her si-.. Rylee glanced down at her lap where her fingers were still running through her kitten’s soft white fur. Kitten. He wasn’t fond of them. She had momentarily forgotten about that. “He won’t hurt you. If anything he’ll want you to pet him, that’s all.” Lamb wouldn’t hurt anyone, not on purpose. “Mhmm, just thinking about what this term might hold in store for us all.” Nothing bad please! They all could use a calm term where nothing scary or deadly happened. “Are you okay?”
It wasn’t until she had Lamb cradled in her arms holding him to her chest that she noticed how this little incident must have affected Drew. If the other two girls were at all afraid of her kitten dashing across the compartment she hadn’t noticed either. Drew though, she knew of his fear of creatures and well this… this was likely to be enough to keep him from getting used to and maybe even liking her kitten. Sigh. Thanks a lot chocolate frog.
Still holding the ball of white fluff that had finally settled down into her embrace, the lioness returned to her seat sitting against the window. “Sorry,” she told the group at large. “He must have thought it was a toy or something... “ Or it was in a cat’s nature to chase and catch small creatures. “The chocolate frog is safe, he didn’t get to it.” Thankfully. What she didn’t need right now was a sick kitten.
