Was Rafferty impressed with Stewart's room that she pulled together? Yes. Was she still impressed by her? Yes. Rafferty wondered in amusement if their paths crossed sometime in the future would the possibility exist that she would go out with him. Probably not.
It was in boredom that Rafferty checked his watch. It was fastly approaching. Zoryn Spinnet had better be on time or she would be spending more days among the various muggle technology of this room.

Zoryn waited until EXACTLY 7 pm. That's when he said she had to be there so that's when she planned on arriving. Not a second earlier. Only nerds showed up early to detention.
"Best get this show on the road then, wouldn't wanna be out past curfew," was the way she decided to make her entrance into the technology room.
For the record she was not scared.
Rafferty was literally the least intimidating person she had ever met in her whole life. He looked like the literal personification of a bar of soap. NAY, a bottle of Johnson's Baby Shampoo. If he were a body part, he'd be the pinky toe. If he were an inanimate object, he'd be a bedside table. If he were a book in the library, he'd be 'how to tie your shoes for dummies'.
Literally, this man was as threatening as a bucket of paint.

Was Rafferty going to be kept waiting? No. Was he relieved? No. A piece of the replacement wanted to extend the disrespectful Gryffindor’s detention. Rafferty’s nose still hurt where he had banged it into the door at the Runes Room. This was not something he was going to mention to Spinnet or anyone else.
“Spinnet.’’ Rafferty regarded her coldly. “I suggest you put your best behavior and manners forward now or you just might find yourself in detention for most of the term.’’ There was a slight smirk in place. Rafferty drew himself up to his fullest height. “Your task for the next few hours is a simple one. Clean each piece of equipment in this room.’’ He pointed to one of the desks that held a computer.
“Rags, dusters, brushes etcetera are provided. Use whatever is necessary. No magic. Do not damage the equipment. Begin.’’

She was being a little tongue in cheek, obviously drawing from their last conversation.
As for her task, Y-A-W-N. She's had worse detentions in her life. One time she had to clean mooncalf dung out of the barns.
"Easy."
And here she was thinking he'd try to make himself look big by giving her an actual challenge. He was literally a piece of white, flavorless toast. Zoryn was in no way intimidated. The Gryffindor walked over, picked up a rag and started wiping off computer screens.
Boooooring.

Was she the professor here? No. Should she be telling Rafferty what to do? Also no. “I highly doubt it will work in your favor if you tell me what to do. Ten points for attempting to tell me how I should be addressing you.’’ Rafferty smirked. He examined his nails.
“Maybe you think so but look around. Stewart has many of her technological toys here. They’re mine now and I would appreciate if you do not damage any one. If you do.’’ Rafferty let the threat hang there but stood watching Spinnet with hawk- like eyes.

Just in case he forgot, she owned this school.
"If I do?" she raised a brow. Zoryn was conniving and ambitious and bit off more than she could chew and had selfish tendencies and landed in detention quite often and-- all this to say, Zoryn Spinnet was a lot of things, but she wasn't an idiot. That was Théo.
Zoryn had brains. And when she wanted to use them, she did very well.
So of course she wouldn't break anything just to see what this sorry excuse for a personified plastic toad would do. She just wanted to see if he actually had a plan, did things turn sour. Just... Checking. For science.
The Gryffindor walked over to grab a rag, she wasn't going to enjoy this but she'd wear a smile the WHOLE time. Just to tick him off. "I just love cleaning, don't you?"

Was Rafferty going to let Spinnet send up his blood pressure? No.Was he even going to rise to her baiting him? Ha. No. Rafferty was always as cool as a cucumber. Most of the times. Rafferty only gave Spinnet a cold smile. She would know that by now he would address her as he saw fit. “If you do damage anything, you will only find things worst for you and your House.’’ Rafferty reached for some quiz papers that required grading. He did love springing pop quizzes on the students.
“Well then you should enjoy this to the utmost. Since you enjoy it so much, I will require that you also clean the walls of the room. They do seem a bit too dusty.’’ Rafferty lazily fished a pen out of his pocket and looked down at the first paper with a smirk.

Because it was fun.
"Would love to, Professor," she turned, using the rag to lazily wipe off the tables. "But I really ought to head out before then. Don't wanna stay out past curfew."

Had no one ever observe that Rafferty was not a man of many words? It seemed as though not and that they were all blind. Was Rafferty going to take the bait Spinnet was throwing at him? Definitely not. All that happened was that he ignored her for a few minutes to finish marking the first paper. Whose abysmal quiz paper was this? Rafferty was not surprised to see it belonged to a certain fifth year.
“You can always return another evening. Not tomorrow. Your friend has detention then.’’ Rafferty moved onto the next paper but not before he cast a sly and sharp look at Spinnet. “Put your back into it, Spinnet. The lazier you are and the longer you take, you’ll find yourself here many more a night.’’
