| | Detention: Jósef Kowalski
Unlike the night of the lesson, there are no blue bell flames to light the path to the spot by the lake the lesson had taken place. This, however, isn’t an excuse to be late. Tardiness will incur further punishment. The cycle of action and consequence could go on for as long as it needed to.
Professor Fletcher currently stands by the lake, waiting for Mr. Kowalski to arrive. Nothing in the surrounding area gives any indication of what the detention will entail. The log seats that had been present are no longer there and the bonfire was nowhere to be seen.
By all indications, there was nothing. Absolutely nothing. Just the shores of the lake, the man sipping his chamomile tea and the occasional bird flying overhead. |

| Sarah thinks I'm cute | Shan's safe space. When no one had been sent after him, Jó almost thought he'd got away with leaving the lesson early. Almost. There had been a distinct niggling feeling that he'd tried to ignore, but that had only been confirmed by the note that arrived later that night.
Detention. Even the WORD sucked, but he wouldn't show how annoyed about it he was - he would do his detention with an air of not caring about it, and maintain his cool status.
After all, it couldn't be that bad, right? There were rules against being TOO mean to the kids........ Right?
Bag slung over one shoulder, containing his Divination text book, wand, parchment and quills and ink, Józef made his way down to the lake with PLENTY of time to spare. And by plenty, the eleven year old meant one minute, arriving at the meeting spot at 4:59 pm by his watch.
"Good evening, Professor Fletcher," he managed, voice neutral - didn't want to do anything to make this any worse than it was surely already going to be.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Calvin Fletcher Graduated | I’m right, you’re wrong. They don’t call me a Seer for nothing.
Calvin looked down at his watch as the First Year approached. Just a minute to spare. Huh. It was either very careful planning or dumb luck. Whatever it was, the boy was on time and remembered the greeting this time. This wasn't such a bad start. "Good evening, Mr. Kowalski. Nice of you to show up. I'd been ever so worried when you never returned to the lesson. I considered a mauling. A heart attack. Dementors returning. I'll admit, I thought you fell into the ravine by the bridge and were dying a slow and painful death. Imagine my surprise to find you at Breakfast looking perfectly chipper. You can understand my shock."
His tone was conversational, it held not even the faintest bit of malice. A false front. He was quite irked the little runt thought he could just walk out of his class the way he did. "Let's get right into it, shall we?"
As was becoming a pattern, the man conjured himself a chair but this time he also got himself a table and placed the papers he was now grading on top of it. He would be here for a while. "Set your things down over there. We have a fire that needs building." One to resemble the one he'd had during the actual lesson. "Back at the entrance to the castle, you will find a pile of wood. They're heavy, but you'll manage. I want you to go get them. One. At. A. Time." He didn't wanna walk back a few blue bell flames? Well now he was going to make several trips to a much further distance. There was no running away from hard work.

Well now he was going to make several trips to a much further distance. There was no running away from hard work. The anthem in Józef's head was currently playing do not roll your eyes on repeat. His face remained expressionless as he stared up into the Divination Professors face, only half wishing that he HAD died and therefore wouldn't be here.
He only nodded when Professor Fletcher said they'd get right to it, determined to show no emotion and retain his cool exterior because PEOPLE THOUGHT HE WAS COOL and he wasn't losing that reputation.
After setting his bag down, he turned to face the Castle, resigned to going to get the logs.
He would not show weakness.
So he'd get the logs. One at a time. And only grumble when he was well out of earshot of the Professor. Which was when he'd just about reached the Castle and picked up his first log, and before he'd turned around and trudged back to the Professor. "Where do you want the fire?" he managed in a monotone voice.

They don’t call me a Seer for nothing. “I haven’t decided yet.” The man said airily as he waved a hand in the boy’s direction for him to continue. When he got all the logs here then they could decide where the fire would go. “Before your next trip, I’d like you to place your wand here on the desk.” He’d been distracted with his marking and forgot but as the logs were charmed to get heavier with time, he didn’t want him getting any ideas.
The first few would be manageable, but the longer they remained sitting by the castle was the more weight they put on. Maybe he should hurry, all the logs needed to be transported and he wouldn’t take their weight as an excuse.
Graciously enough, the man ensured they wouldn’t get too heavy but they would be noticeably more so than when he first started. “Best hurry up.” For his own good.

| Sarah thinks I'm cute | Shan's safe space. What did he mean, he hadn't decided? Jó was so unimpressed right now, and although he was trying not to show it, it was written quite plainly on his face. This meant he had to carry all of the logs over here, and then probably pick them up and rearrange them again?!
This was cruelty, child slavery, no doubt about it!
And he wouldn't have his wand. Jó scowled as he put it on the desk in front of the Professor, but didn't say anything. He stayed quiet as he turned and jogged his way back to the Castle, grabbing the next log and beginning to lug it back down to the Lake.

Did Fletcher care whether the boy was impressed by his words? Hardly. In fact, by the looks of it, they’d had the desired effect. The gist of the detention would soon become very clear to the first year and if he didn’t like not knowing where the fire was going, he most certainly wouldn’t like the rest.
For his part, Calvin remained at his desk getting his grading sorted. He was impatient to move on but there was nothing to be done until Kowalski got all the logs here and he could waste his time in other ways.
Apart of him wanting to urge the boy to hurry up but at the same time....it would be his problem if the weight increased because of tardiness.
Trying to escape hard work would only bring more hard work.
