If you want to be the last to leave or want to hang with the more rowdy crowd, then the back passenger cars of the train are for you. Just like the other cars, a long corridor provides access to the many compartments, each labelled with a letter, available for you and your friends to hunker down in until the train has come to a complete stop. Cushioned seats and large windows, allowing perfect views of the British scenery on your journey, await.
Well, what are you waiting for? Slide open a compartment door and make yourself at home. Place any of your belongings not in the luggage car on the racks above you. Chat with your friends about what you did this summer, enjoy munching on the snacks you bought from the trolley lady, get ahead of the game by reading your textbooks, or take a long nap as the train travels over numerous hills and mountainsides. Whatever you do, exhibit your best behaviour -- the prefects will be regularly patrolling the corridors and poking their heads inside your compartment to make sure you are doing so.
Anna had nearly sprawled out like that first year boy she encountered earlier as she relaaaaxed on her seat. Merlin, that felt good. She chuckled at Penny's response. "I know what you mean. The food is great! Have you ever been to the kitchens? The elves are pretty nice too." She said, wondering if the rumours were true and all Hufflepuffs went to the kitchens more often than not.
The Gryffindor laughed out loud when Penny said she had been dreaming about pudding. "What's your favourite? I love the apple crumble." Anna said while starting to think about the delicious dessert and looking out the window. It was only after a few seconds that she realised the last time she had spoken to Penny it was also about food and desserts, no less, and she chuckled. "I do eat healthy sometimes too, okay? Just so you know." She added, laughing again.
Okay, that looked wonderfully comfortable! Sprawling like her compartment mate, Penny grinned up at the luggage rack above her head and sighed dreamily. "The elves are wonderful indeed! My common room is right by the kitchens, course I have been there! They make me snacks to take back to me common room most nights." She had once confided in an elf that she didn't get many treats back at home... so they went out of their way to give her special things. It was lovely!
"Anything with apples is great! I like Lemon Curd cake too. Soun's weird dunnit?" That she didn't go for chocolatey goodness like most of her classmates were likely to have. Heh. "Hey whadda ya think about the extra curricular classes at school? Have you taken any of them?" she asked quietly. The fact that her Gryffindor companion was a quidditch captain had not escaped her view... and well she didn't want to assume that she was a run of the mill jock type. But even if she was, that wouldn't matter to Penny either!

"It's okay," she said to her new companion. "I'm cool with it. Nice to meet you. I'm Maddie Kemp, a fourth year Hufflepuff." She nodded as the girl gave her name. "So how'd you get the name Archer?"
Then there was another voice coming from the direction of the door, and Maddie looked up to see another unfamiliar face. "Yeah, of course," she said, sitting up a little straighter. "It's cool to have more people in the compartment." The train ride was super long, but if they spent it hanging out with a group of people, it should be a lot more fun! "I'm Maddie Kemp, by the way." She was talking to the second girl, of course. She'd already given Archer her name.
A motion in the corridor caught her attention, and she looked up to see Daisy walking by. She smiled and waved back. Hmm...why hadn't Daisy stopped, and where was she headed? Maddie would have to catch up with her later on. The slightly older girl looked like she was on a mission or something.
Then there was a new visitor at the compartment door, and this one she recognized. "Howdy, Patrick," she said, giving him a hello in a language he probably heard more often. Of course Maddie didn't talk like that, and her native British accent saying the word howdy sounded strange to her. Oh, well, she'd said it anyway. "My summer was good! I had a lot of fun, but it's good to see my friends again." She'd missed her siblings, but she'd had enough of them for a while. "How was yours?"

Everything would be better once they were at Hogwarts and she could settle in.
And now there was a boy joining them as well. Madison smiled at him. "Hi, I'm Madison. I'm brand new here. I transferred from Ilvermorny." Which would explain why they had never seen her before.
Patrick smiled and chuckled at Maddie, “don’t hear that much.” he looked over at the other girl listening to Maddie mention she had a good summer. He had an amazing time back in the states with his grandparents and playing ball all summer was a blast. “I had an amazing summer. Got to spend a lot of time playing sports and hanging out on the farm. I’ve been ready to see everyone too.”
His attention gravitated toward the other girl who he just learned was Madison, her accent was very American and he was thrilled to hear it since he loved being back home in the states. “Nice to meet you Madison, I’m Patrick. Where are you from in the states?” he hoped he wasn’t being too intrusive but he loved meeting other people from home. Although he was beginning to notice that he was severely out numbered in the compartment.
Taddy was a bit nervous as he got onto the train. He didn't scare easily, but knowing he was the first of his other brothers and sisters to attend Hogwarts was a bit unnerving, never mind that his Aunt Elisa was attending as well. But... something was different though for him, and maybe he'd find out what exactly.
There was alot of people on the train by the time he arrived, Tad was heading toward the back when he realized all the compartments were taken and filled with people. He happened upon one with just.. one other person in there. He rapped on it a bit before opening the door to see a boy slouching. "Hi... is it alright if I sit here? Everywhere else is full." He asked before he too glanced out the window.
Alastair gave a quick glance toward the door when it opened, and then peered over the bottom lip of the window at his mother and her boyfriend. They'd seen the other boy enter his compartment, and were making excited faces at one another. He could even see tears in his mother's eyes, and could just imagine the words coming out of her mouth: 'Oh, look, he's going to make a friend!' And then he could clearly read Gregory's lips: 'If he doesn't botch it with that mouth of his.'
Grumble grumble.
"You can sit." This was perhaps a bit belated, and Alastair made no move to adjust from his out-of-sight slouched position. Then he took in the new boy's appearance more thoroughly and informed him, "I know you. You were at the wand shop."

She offered the bag full of Sugarplums Sweets to him.
At least with a sweet in her mouth she didn't have to talk. Or, at least, it was understandable. But it was also making her feel all self conscious. What if her stomach rumbled or something?
So, swallowing the small remainder of her Fizzing Whizbee, she said, making her way back down to her seat, "Did you both h-have a good... summer?"

The boy became distracted though, when candy was offered, not something he normally had access to. It was his turn to say “Thanks” as he gingerly took the bag of sweets and explored his options, finally taking a peppermint mouse before handing it back.
He took a bite to suck on, briefly noticing a passing prefect and smiled back at Daisy before she got distracted. About to turn away, there was another presence at the sliding door of his…their…compartment. Septimus looked to his companion, the girl still levitating as she answered for them. “Yeah…it’s fine,” he echoed, confirming the response. At least there was now someone appearing to be more awkward than he was. “Drew right?” They were dormmates, he really should know them better.
As for the other raised question. “Yeah, I did. It was fun,” he answered, “How about you?”
Drew would take sitting with his year mates over anything else, even if he didn’t really know them too well. Aside from their names, of course, he knew that they both were Ravenclaws. He tried to force his brain into thinking that similarities are good in this case. At least he could feel included, one way or another. With both their permission, Drew made a tiny smile before he slipped inside the compartment and closed the door behind him as he did. He then took a seat beside Septimus.
The offer of a lolly was a bit unexpected, but not one that Drew would turn down. As usual, he never said no and he felt it would be rude to turn down such a offer. On the bright side, he could use a lolly. It would keep his mouth busy and he wouldn’t have to talk much. Right? “P-please,” he said as he extended his arm to take the bag of sweets. Drew took out one sugar quill and offered the bag back to Hanna. “Th-thank you…” See? Socialization wasn’t so bad….
“Yeah… Drew,” the thirteen year old replied with a nod as he removed the plastic off his sugar quill. “And you’re…. Ssseptimus…. a-and Hanna.” Drew knew them both by name and by face, just like everyone else he had seen in the Ravenclaw tower. It didn’t matter to him that people didn’t know him, but he made it a point to familiarize himself with those who were in his house. But then they were talking about summer and, well, he listened to what they had to share. Fun, however, was quite vague to Drewett, but he wasn’t going to press Septimus into spilling more than he was willing to. “Mine was… eventful.” That was one way to describe it, at least.

Taddy let the door shut itself close as he went to sit down across from the other boy. When he glanced curiously out the window, where his family was not too far off from his view. Another family's set of eyes though seem to have looked right at him. He blinked before fully getting himself comfortable.
I know you. You were at the wand shop. "Oh. cool." Taddy commented, he had been more focused on the wand than others at the time. "What's your name? I'm Thadius.. but, you can call me Tad or Taddy." Maybe he will be his first friend.

"I'm Alastair, and you can call me Alastair." And he certainly wouldn't be calling Thadius by either of those suggested nicknames. Tad sounded small and insignificant, and Taddy sounded like a name someone might call a particularly annoying lap dog. None of which he was going to say to Thadius, however, because he was in the process of making friends and some part of him realized that might not be a step in the right direction.
"What d'you make of all that?" He gestured to the scene out the window with a flap of his hand.
Nathan wasn't mentally prepared for his last school term of the year. He felt like he was having the biggest migraine of his life. Just thinking about it makes his body shuddered and his stomach twisted in knots. He couldn't imagine himself doing revisions every single day just to catch up with the advanced newt classes. Merlin, he despised studying so much.
He dragged himself in and was immediately greeted by excited new voices from students he didn't even know. Why were they so loud? What were they even excited about? Sighing, Nathan tried to drown out their pitchy little voices. He looked around for an empty compartment. To be honest, Nathan couldn't care less who's compartment it was or it was already taken, he just wanted to shut himself away. Someone pleaseee..... put him out of his misery. But first, some snacks and a nap.

That shouldn't be too hard, but she didn't really KNOW anyone yet. At least not super properly. Of course there was Hanna, who was really nice and helpful, but she couldn't be spotted anywhere. Oh well. She would just make due.
Making her way towards the back of the train, she saw that the compartments weren't too full yet. And there was one with two girls who looked to be about her age. Maybe they would let her join them and she could get to know more people. She could actually fit in. "Is it okay if I join you?" she asked while standing at the doorway.
Madison didn't want to intrude.

He felt weird pinning his badge onto his T-shirt, so he had it stashed in his jeans pocket. He was certain with the outfit he was Going to get enough attention for his very country muggle attire.. Not many people would wear their farm clothes on the train. He was peeking his head into compartments trying to check and see if there were any new students that he should be on the lookout for.
He passed a girl in a compartment alone and glanced around she had a paper in her face so he figured she wanted some alone time and snaked by that compartment. He poked his head into the next compartment and noticed Maddie Kemp who he recognized as they were in the same year... however he didn’t recognize the other two. His broad shoulders were already in the doorway he couldn’t stop now... “hey y’all. How was your summer Maddie? I’m Patrick by the way. he mentioned the last part because he didn’t recognize the other two girls Maddie was sitting with.

Awesome, she hadn't just barged in on some moody someone. Phew. "Oh, it's actually my middle name," she replied to Maddie's question. Thankfully, she remembered to leave off the explanation for it this time. Didn't want people getting the wrong idea about her.
Before she could ask Maddie anything in return, they were joined by a girl who seemed kind of familiar, in the 'where have I seen her before?' way. "Hey, Madison. I'm Archer." Best to go ahead and introduce herself anyway, just in case she just looked familiar and they hadn't ever actually met before.
Before too long, they were joined by someone else, a boy this time. One that Maddie apparently knew and..... made her adopt some Southern America slang? Seriously, she hadn't heard that word since she left Arkansas. Nor the word that Patrick had used. But 'howdy' sounded really weird in a British accent and she should know, since she'd tried it with her own. FYI, it did not go over well. "Hello, Patrick. I'm Archer," she said with a smile.
"That's where I recognize you from!" she exclaimed as Madison mentioned being from Illvermorny. "Which house were you in? I was a Pukwudgie." Though, she (Archer) didn't sound very American thanks to having been born in Liverpool. Something that had earned her some ridicule in Arkansas, of course, thanks to her very British accent.

Hanna was glad they'd both taken a sweet. Eating alone wasn't always pleasant. Sometimes made her feel a bit self-conscious. "That's okay," she said happily.
She waved at Daisy as the Hufflepuff Prefect did her round. "Great," she said. So far the train ride was uneventful. Hanna nodded, "It was okay. I missed my family a lot." But mostly her grandparents. Her siblings had seemed to get used to her not being there, and she felt like her parents thought she could take care of herself now. Which... she could! But, still.
Hanna realised how poorly she had integrated herself into Ravenclaw life when Drew had to double check her name. She grinned and nodded, thankful that she had an almost photogenic memory when it came to names. It saved her from these moments. Not that she minded being asked, rather that than be called something else. "What happened?" she asked Drew. Did he mean good eventful? Hanna took another sweet out, and offered the bag around again. She had more in her trunk, so she wouldn't be running out anytime soon.

Oh, Patrick. That would be easy for Madison to remember because it was one of her dads' names. "Nice to meet you too. I am from New York, born and raised." And listening to him speak, he seemed American like her. "Are you from the States as well?" He definitely sounded as if he and an American accent, though she couldn't place where from exactly.
After Bettie went to the food trolley and bought a drink and snacks (she has not had or heard of before now)she came back to the still empty compartment and set the drink and snacks on the little table. She picked up the chocolate frog and open it. The frog jumped and she screamed, jumped, kicked the table and knocked of the snacks a drink and while going to catch the unopened bottle fell on the floor.

"Alastair.. Cool, nice to meet you." Tad nodded. "It's your first year too right?[/b]" He was pretty sure he was, but had to make sure. Chances were they would get to know each other sooner or later.
He followed his hand out, to where the people were. "Who, them?" He guessed. "Those your parents?" He peeked out to see them still looking at him. "They seem... happy." Maybe that's why Alastair was avoiding the window. "My folks are over there." He tried to point out in the distance where they were a couple rows behind Alastair's family. They were waving in their direction with his younger siblings jumping up and down trying to see. "That's.. my parents with my younger brother and two sisters. I'm the oldest, though my Aunt's in her fourth year now." Now explaining his own family was quite the tale in its own right. He wondered what Alastair's family story was here.
