| | |  Astronomy Lesson 1 - Total eclipse of the... moon?
A soft breeze was blowing down near the lake where a makeshift classroom had been set up, several chairs were arranged in a few rows that faced the lake, and the bright full moon that seemed to hang over the body of water, making a glistening path on its black depths. The hour wasn’t late, 8pm was early for this class to start, but the Astronomy professor had been making his classes earlier and earlier. 6 am came quickly, especially for Kalen who was not used to rising before the sun did.
Kalen was there, leaning on the edge of a table, a cup of steaming earl grey tea was right next to him as per usual.
Despite the early November date, it wasn’t freezing outside, though the soft wind that ruffled the hair on Kalens neck was a bit chilly, so heating charms had been set up to keep the area nice and warm.
A small table to the side had been set up with a few pitchers of hot water, several cups and various teas and hot chocolates were in a basket should you want some liquid warmth as well. The headmasters rules didn’t count here. So come in, sit down and relax, grab a hot beverage and enjoy the fresh air, class will start soon OOC: Welcome to Astronomy class!. Just remember that even though this is the first Rp’d class this is not your first class with Professor Kennedy! Come on in, say Hi and we will continue on in about 24 hours.. ish! Also please keep the chatting to a minimum! Class has started! All late comers will face IC consequences, so feel free to pretend like your Charrie was here all along. Hanna was pulled out of her worry just in time to hear Professor Kennedy give the outline of a game, and making Hanna the first tagger. Her eyes widened. Well... this would be fun. She just had to jump on people's shadow?
Hanna got up from her spot and looked around for the first person she would try and run after. Whose shadow would she step on?
JUMP!
She ran after someone, and jumped on their shadow. What happened now though?

She ran after someone, and jumped on their shadow. What happened now though? Bettie was not very good at these type of games but she ran around any ways and sure enough it did not take Hanna to jump for her shadow and just bearly missed it.

Lizzie blinked, having still been jotting notes as globes of light flew out from the Professor's wand. A game? It seemed like they were already pushing the rules by being outside and now the Professor wanted to bring more attention to them. Not wanting to lose any points Lizzie stood up and joined in, running to the farthest corner of the field and hiding under one of the orbs so that she didn't have a shadow on the ground, for now. Boy would she have a story for Derf later.

The Prefects had been gone for what felt like a very long time.
He shifted nervously, wondering if the Headmaster would appear and send Kennedy somewhere... He bit his lip and then tried his hardest to focus on the lesson at hand.
Chase watched as the lesson's activity shifted from observing the lunar eclipse to playing shadow tag in tandem to the Professor's lost facial expression. His eyebrows raised as Beth went up to offer something to the Prof. Normally he would have scoffed, rolled his eyes, and made a comment like 'Teacher's Pet' but, in this instance, he didn't. Something felt wrong.
Professor Kennedy was never one to seem so absent-minded and lost.
Chase almost was lost in his own thoughts until he heard a fellow classmate made an intriguing comment. Maybe we'll be lucky and the dictator will die soon. He smirked at what she called their new Headmaster. He, too, had his own names for the man. "Maybe we can figure out what the dictator is up too?"
With that being said, he took a step forward to participate in the game but then found himself halting his steps when Hanna had stepped on his shadow. UNFAIR!! He frowned, trying his hardest to move, but found that he was glued to the grass. "Well... nice Hanna... I wasn't expecting you.." he chuckled and shook his head. Now where was little Lucas? Help out an older Gryffindor, would you? A friend of your sister's maybe? Yes?

Just as Lucas finished drawing the last of the moon - the shadow moon, as he was about to label it as - Professor Kennedy started talking. He pulled himself up to a sitting position and placed the notebook and quill down on his bag to listen to what they were doing next. He didn't know what could possibly top the moon-watching - or if it COULD be topped - but.....
....... oh, they were playing a game?
Lucas smiled, first at the sound of a game and then at all the lights up everywhere. This was going to be fun, wasn't it? And he didn't really have to find someone to work with this time so he didn't have to worry about interacting with people he didn't-
..........
Uh. Did he just say Lucas? As in, HIM Lucas?
His eyes widened as he looked around him. He was the sun? HE WAS THE SUN. The first year shot UP, his eyes still wide as he tried to figure out what was going on. As far as he could tell, he was the sun, which he tried to make, uh, obvious by taking his wand and casting, "Lumos!" There. Now he could hold the wand above his head so people would know and see him coming. It probably wasn't part of the plans but this was HIS plan and he was going ahead with it.
Next, people were already moving. The shadow tag person - Hanna, was it? - was already moving around and tagging people but someone (Bettie) had managed to avoid her and someone else (Lizzie) was already moving over to the corner - which was very smart, by the way - and.....
........ oh! Him! Chase! He..... recognised him? From the common room, sure, and from the first feast but he couldn't stand here trying to figure out how he knew him or where they first met or any of it. Lucas simply ran over as fast as he could, still holding his lit wand up in the air because he was the SUN. He was coming, okay? He was nearly there! He...... just had small legs - which, he now realised was going to hold him back during this game.
But he ran, and in his haste to get to the older Gryffindor, Lucas..... leaped. Straight onto the boy.

He had taken the chocolate, that was good. Her good deed of the year was complete thank you very much. If Chase had called her a teachers’ pet chances were Beth would have full on laughed.
This wasn’t Divinations with Professor Vance…she wasn’t a first year anymore – this was Astronomy – and THIS was fully different. So different indeed. It just happened. that she ended up standing near Chase and Hanna when he had been tagged….and WOOSH she felt the air and saw the light.
The light was bright. Bright and unfreezing and it was time now yeah? Time to ruuuuuuuun and make sure Hanna didn’t freeze her too.

They were going to play a game? COOL! Tad was very excited about this, despite having drunk a lot of hot chocolate. So that meant he would be pretending to be the moon. Hmm. Okay. Tad got up and not wanting to leave his blanket on the floor kept a hold of it by tying it as if he was wearing a superhero cape.

Shadow tag, now this sound like a fun game. Anyway she got up and started running. Running away from Hanna who was it. The sixth year seem Tad running around with his blanket around him like a cape. She ran over to the younger Ravenclaw boy. ”Super Tad Save me.” She ran in a circle around him.
Where did Hanna go now? Keeping her eyes out for the “earth” person and also the “Sun” person Lucas he would save her to if she was frozen too right? This was turning out the be a fun game indeed. It was kind of fun being the moon!

Kaitlynn watched as an area was lit up. Tag! Sounds pretty fun. She hopped up and ran, doing her best to avoid Hanna and trying to keep her shadow in front of her instead of behind her so that way she could see it coming if Hanna managed to get the drop on her.

Kalen glanced at his watch and sighed softly, it was now or never.
“All right guys! Class is over! You can head back to the castle now. ” He said as he clapped his hands and then ran one through his hair, odds are he wouldn’t be seeing any of them tomorrow and he almost wanted to say something to them..
But he didn’t..
“Enjoy the rest of your evening.” He finally got out as he waved, and then with a flick of his wand, all the chairs, desks and every trace of beverages were gone.. too little too late.

Hanna walked towards Professor Kennedy and said, almost sadly, "Goodbye Professor! Th-thanks for a n-nice view of the eclipse." She was worried for the man, about whether she would see him at breakfast or the next day, or even if she would be seeing another awful replacement for a perfectly decent Professor.
