| Quote: "Professor," Skiving asked, "should we be trying to hit certain parts of the movement on a particular syllable?" "No," Professor Phoenix said. "But the incantation and wand movement must start and end at the same time.
The sign you are supposed to trace is a Theta – this Greek symbol is used to describe a change of temperature, and therefore seems fitting for a Fire-Conjuring Charm, such as Inflamare." Inflamare
Proper incantation: Inflamare!
Wand movement: Tracing a Theta in the air. "Good, now we have got the proper wand movement working, we must keep the right incantation in mind, which was: Inflamare. It is very, very, very important for you to pronounce it correctly."
Professor Phoenix pulled her own Devil's Snare that, like the students', was sitting on her desk in front of her, closer and pointed her wand at it. She traced a Theta in the air.
"Inflamare!"
A little yet of blue-bell flames erupted at the tip of her wand and started dancing on to the tentacle-like branches of the plant. Immediately, the Devil's Snare curled up and away from the fire that was soon extinguished, having nothing to feed upon.
"The Devil's Snares won't be affected by this spell much," she explained, "so we have plenty of time to practice – go ahead, please!"

Tries the spell on her devils snare
"Inflamare" and traces a thetra sign in the air
Her devils snare curls in response to the flames and being satisfied with her work she sits down to wait for further teaching

| ::Riley replaces the quill she had been using to practice the spell with her wand eagerly.::
"Inflamare!" She says clearly. A large burst of blue flames leap happily from her wand tip and alight upon the plant. The Devil's Snare curls away unhappily and Riley pours some water out of the tip of her wand hurriedly.
"I think I over did it a bit." |

| "Oh!! A Theta! Sort of sounds like Thyra....oh well, I was close." Thyra smiles and picks up her wand. "Inflamare!" A small jet of blue-bell flames fell out of the tip of her wand, driving the Devil's Snare a little further away. "Ooh.." |

| Looks at Riley and Thyra's plants and then to her own. Chelsea is determined to get this right. She pulls out her wand, makes the theta in the air and says "Inflamare!" A blast of blue light emits from her wand towards the devil's snare and it shrivels back. Chelsea smiles with satisfaction. "I did it!" |

*looks at TomsLovelyLady and her announcement of lateness* "DOsn't anyone read the rules?" she silently thinks to herself.
"Inflamare!" *traces Theta with wand*
Only sparks came from her wand, "Hmmm..."
"Inflamare!" *traces Theta with wand (again)*
Bluebell flames went on the Devil's Snare and it creeped back away from the flames, "I did it!"

*Trace Theta symbol while pronnouncing the incantation.
A lil flame come though the tip of her wand. Facinated by it Nadia didn't realize she was not amining the Devil's Snare but bare air -- immediately she re-directs the spell towards the Devil's Snare which shrinks but only slightly. That was the thing with the bluebell flame she found so interesting: it can be directed to a target at will. ^^*

| "Good! Now you can all work the Fire-Conjuring Charm Inflamare! I am proud of all of you. 5 points each," Professor Phoenix said happily. "Now, having completed Inflamare, we will move on to Lumos, which some of you might already know from Charms already, but I beg you not to interrupt the lesson if you do.
"Lumos is a charm that casts light from the tip of your wand," she explained, "and light, next to warmth, is another thing Devil's Snares detest, as we know. Does anybody know the proper incantation (pronunciation) for Lumos?" she asked. (((You might have noticed that some posts have disappeared. Wondering why? Read the rules, people. Maybe you'll understand what the reason was (i.e. don't walk in saying you're LATE - act as if you were there all the time, read my posts so you know what we are doing). And please follow my instructions. If I ask you NOT to use your wand yet, then don't do it!)))
