You see a notice tacked to the front door of the classroom:

Attention students. The first DADA class will occur Thursday, March 18 at 8:00 EST. Please be prompt and bring all of your supplies with you. Please also bring with you any ideas or topics you would like to discuss this term, as well as a positive attitude.

Why are those spells called unforgivables?
"They do bad things. Unforgivable things. Putting a person into intolderable suffereing pain, killing them off. Being able to control their every action? Those are the worst curses in the Wizarding World. Those are the worst possible ones to use."

Oh. Are there other ways to kill someone, but to help them? Like someone else said before to help them be rid of pain?

*Raises hand*

I can answer that. First of all if one of those spells, like Crucio, was put on someone close to you...would you forgive them and let it slide, Anthony replied. I wouldn't. So the curses are not forgivable and sometimes are never appropiate.

Does anyone know who created the unforgivable curses?

"Well, I can understand why their unforgivables." Katie said matter-of-factly.
"The eath eaters who use them most of the time KNOW their doing wrong and continue to do it."

"Yeah, it was actually scientifically proven by muggles. But that's what I mean, if he was insane, he either didn't know that he was doing something wrong, thought he was doing something good, or did it just because. The point is he didn't think about the reprecussions to his actions. Lets think about someone else shall we? Voldemort, he knew that what he was doing was wrong, but he felt that his reasoning justified it. He truly thought that muggles were horrible, undeserving creatures that didn't deserve to live. To him they were a disgrace to wizardry or something. It's almost as if he took their existence as a personal affront."

*Nadia sizes the oppotunity and raise hand* I have always been curious, professor, about Red Caps, to know if we are studing them. They don’t figure as a magic creature in Newts Scamander’s book, nor do I think they would be considered inside the ‘Beings Division’, nor boggarts nor dementors are, and that’s exactly the *things* to fight against in DADA coincidentally. Are they spirits, or apparitions maybe? And what about the Lethifold, because it *is* a fantastic best, yet a simple Patronus Charm can push it away, as if being weightless.

Grindylows, Kappas, Kelpie, Lethifold are *demons* but ARE considered beast though...

"Well, in fact, no one knows who created any of the spells, right?" Thyra asks, looking up from her parchment. She begins to look through a book for the answer.

"I want to apologize for Professor Airlia's earlier interruption. She is feeling a little disgruntled that so many students are afraid of her, and is acting out. I hope you'll all feel comfortable enough to attend her class tomorrow.

"Now, back to the lesson... forgive me. I'm glad that so many of you keep bringing up how variable Dark Magic can be. Let's keep in mind, however, that the spells that are considered dark are called curses. They are cast with the clear intention to do harm. This is what makes them dark. I liked the analogy of the knife from before.

Let's switch gears for a moment and talk about another aspect of the Dark Arts... dark creatures. Who can name a dark creature for me?"

"They say there's a gene that can make a person a murderer. They know it's wrong, and yet they still choose to follow that instinct," Ashlie said.

Ashlie beamed at mention of her knife analagy. Then she thought of a Dark creature. "A boggart?" she asked.
