"I think that it all depends on your point of veiw, I'm sure Hitler thought he was doing the right thing at the time..."

Arkee Maldemer 03-19-2004 03:14 AM

"Because nobody has the right to take away someone else's right to live, or at least live in peace."

Why are those spells called unforgivables?
"They do bad things. Unforgivable things. Putting a person into intolderable suffereing pain, killing them off. Being able to control their every action? Those are the worst curses in the Wizarding World. Those are the worst possible ones to use."

dttfminb 03-19-2004 03:14 AM

Oh. Are there other ways to kill someone, but to help them? Like someone else said before to help them be rid of pain?

Dracnyzz 03-19-2004 03:14 AM

Thyra nods and takes notes on what the Professor said.

*Raises hand*

I can answer that. First of all if one of those spells, like Crucio, was put on someone close to you...would you forgive them and let it slide, Anthony replied. I wouldn't. So the curses are not forgivable and sometimes are never appropiate.

dttfminb 03-19-2004 03:15 AM

Does anyone know who created the unforgivable curses?

Sakura_kura 03-19-2004 03:15 AM

"I'm agreeing with augureycry about her point about Hitler"

FnG_rawkMYxworld 03-19-2004 03:15 AM

"Well, I can understand why their unforgivables." Katie said matter-of-factly.
"The eath eaters who use them most of the time KNOW their doing wrong and continue to do it."

"Do you though? Hitler needed someone to blame. There are people out there whom can inflict damage on a person without feeling guilty."

"Oh, I know that, they're called sociopaths."

"Ya well he turned out to be insane or something didn't he?" lol
"Yeah, it was actually scientifically proven by muggles. But that's what I mean, if he was insane, he either didn't know that he was doing something wrong, thought he was doing something good, or did it just because. The point is he didn't think about the reprecussions to his actions. Lets think about someone else shall we? Voldemort, he knew that what he was doing was wrong, but he felt that his reasoning justified it. He truly thought that muggles were horrible, undeserving creatures that didn't deserve to live. To him they were a disgrace to wizardry or something. It's almost as if he took their existence as a personal affront."

A dark creature: The lethifold.

"i'm not sure who made them, but it had to be a long lonnnnnnng time ago, i'm going to say hundreds of years ago"

She-Who-Is-Not-To-Be-Psycho! 03-19-2004 03:16 AM

*Nadia sizes the oppotunity and raise hand* I have always been curious, professor, about Red Caps, to know if we are studing them. They don’t figure as a magic creature in Newts Scamander’s book, nor do I think they would be considered inside the ‘Beings Division’, nor boggarts nor dementors are, and that’s exactly the *things* to fight against in DADA coincidentally. Are they spirits, or apparitions maybe? And what about the Lethifold, because it *is* a fantastic best, yet a simple Patronus Charm can push it away, as if being weightless.

Grindylows, Kappas, Kelpie, Lethifold are *demons* but ARE considered beast though...

Dracnyzz 03-19-2004 03:16 AM

"Well, in fact, no one knows who created any of the spells, right?" Thyra asks, looking up from her parchment. She begins to look through a book for the answer.

Cassirin 03-19-2004 03:16 AM

"I want to apologize for Professor Airlia's earlier interruption. She is feeling a little disgruntled that so many students are afraid of her, and is acting out. I hope you'll all feel comfortable enough to attend her class tomorrow.

"Now, back to the lesson... forgive me. I'm glad that so many of you keep bringing up how variable Dark Magic can be. Let's keep in mind, however, that the spells that are considered dark are called curses. They are cast with the clear intention to do harm. This is what makes them dark. I liked the analogy of the knife from before.

Let's switch gears for a moment and talk about another aspect of the Dark Arts... dark creatures. Who can name a dark creature for me?"

Hermione_loves_Ron 03-19-2004 03:17 AM

"They say there's a gene that can make a person a murderer. They know it's wrong, and yet they still choose to follow that instinct," Ashlie said.

FnG_rawkMYxworld 03-19-2004 03:17 AM

"Even thouggh he thought he was doing right, he was wrong."

"Plus he was insain." lol

Meandering 03-19-2004 03:17 AM

"Manticore!" said Peony. "Red Caps. Dementors. Lethifold."

Dracnyzz 03-19-2004 03:17 AM

"A Dementor," Thyra said.

Ashlie beamed at mention of her knife analagy. Then she thought of a Dark creature. "A boggart?" she asked.

MonkeyBJr 03-19-2004 03:18 AM

Lethifold

Sakura_kura 03-19-2004 03:18 AM

"Boggart!"

"So Sorry Hermonie_Loves_Ron! It's one of the only ones I know, sorry i repeated you! SO i'll say Thestral!? It's the horse you can only see if you've seen someone die, i hope no one took m,y answer, is that right Proffesor? I'm not very good at remembering!"

dttfminb 03-19-2004 03:18 AM

Dementor?

~Slytherin_Heir~ 03-19-2004 03:18 AM

"Manticore"
