"It odes depend on the person castinng the spell. If you had a normal student try the Curcatious Curse on someone, they'd probably do nothing. But an evil wizard who has evil intentions? That'd inflict lots of damage."

Cassirin 03-19-2004 02:58 AM

"Excellent points being raised, class... I can tell you are really thinking. Some of you have really hit the nail on the head. Augureycry, five points to Slytherin... because you are absolutely right. There is a very fine line between Dark and acceptable magic, and a lot of what makes a spell dark is intent. Of course, there are some spells that are entirely dark and have no redeeming purposes.

Anyone? Can you name one please?"

MonkeyBJr 03-19-2004 02:59 AM

Avada Kedavra, Crucio, and Imperio

Arkee Maldemer 03-19-2004 02:59 AM

"Avada Kedavra. I'd say nothing justifies it."

That_Potter_Chick 03-19-2004 02:59 AM

"Cruciatus Curse?"

augureycry 03-19-2004 02:59 AM

::Raises her hand in the air::

"The cruciatus curse."

"Proffessor, are we going to be learning any 'dark' spells this year? Not for use of course, but I think the theory behind some of them might help. Besides, we should know what we're going up against, shouldn't we?"

Meandering 03-19-2004 03:00 AM

"Crucio," said Peony. "That is despicable, and was probably cooked up by some half baked sadist.

Hermione_loves_Ron 03-19-2004 03:00 AM

"Ban magic all together? Not everyone uses it to be bad," Ashlie argued.

"Well, guys, a tickling charm, wouldn't you say that is a good spell? What if it is used to torture a person? Like tickle them for so long that they go insane?"
thats a charm....itz differnt than Dark Arts spells [/b][/quote]
But again, charms it's almost every spell! Even the words Charm means manipulating people and items, which isn't quite an altruist thing to do.

Peony told something of the likes too, and I completely agree. The same with morality, It's almost impossible to tell a good from a bad action, an egoistical from an altruist, etc.

The unforgivables: Imperio, Crucio, Aveda Kedabra

TeamDuskurk 03-19-2004 03:00 AM

The Cruciaus Curse

Sakura_kura 03-19-2004 03:00 AM

"crucio?"

(Sorry can't spell well)

~Slytherin_Heir~ 03-19-2004 03:00 AM

The Imperious curse (sp?)

Dawn Bloom 03-19-2004 03:00 AM

Obliviate, in my opinion.

"Sorry, I was being sarcastic to prove a point. I didn't mean it, really!"

Dracnyzz 03-19-2004 03:01 AM

"The unforgivable curses...like Avada Kedavra...as well as other spells that Voldemort and death eaters use," Thyra said coolly, not fazed by you-know-who's name.

~Slytherin_Heir~ 03-19-2004 03:01 AM

"Are there really any others BESIDES the unforgiveables?"

Meandering 03-19-2004 03:01 AM

Peony raised her hand again. "I'd like to contest the Avada Kedavra. It is totally painless, and a quick way of killing, before, it was probably used for hunting deer and ensuring them a fast, easy death. But then people started getting ideas."

quidditch_chick 03-19-2004 03:02 AM

"I agree with everyone," quidditch_chick says, "The unforgiveables."

augureycry 03-19-2004 03:03 AM

"I understand that the Killing curse may have been created with evil intent, but what if it were used for good? Hear me out before you begin shouting at me. What if a person were to be hurt in a terrible accident and they were to continue living, but in incredible, deabilitating pain, would you consider it wrong to put them out of their misery?"

Biochemkris 03-19-2004 03:03 AM

BOO!

"Well not in most cases. It can be used for good as well. For instance if muggles saw something they weren't supposed to see"

"I realize that,"Ashlie said. "But the point is, some magic IS dark and evil. But not all magic is going to be BAD."

"Yes...perhaps, but that is rather a moral issue. Not that I don't agree..." Thyra said.

coolant661 03-19-2004 03:05 AM

Almost all the spells can be used the wrong way, Anthony said. It's not always the spell that's bad...it's how you use it.
