"Before we begin I would recommend that you should all be calm when water scrying or your vision will be broken. The type of visions will be about "omens" that you see in the water as in colours. Some will be good, bad or confusing. We will get to decipher your visions later on.

Since we're barely beginning here we all close our eyes for about three minutes and look at the bowl calmly.

Before we begin are there any questions at all?"

"Water scrying?" she thinks, "this sounds interesting."

*begins to calm down then shakes her head 'no' in response to the Professor's question.*

(Jessie raises her hand high in the air)

Professor, will just any old bowl do for water scrying?

*Raise hand* What are we supposed to see? Does the water have something in it that will turn into different shapes?

*sits down and starts to calm down, thinking of a warm sun kissed day laying on a white sand beach, with the waves gently rolling onto shore*

*raises hand*

Do differant colors represent differant omens, or are we going to see the omen in the water?

Rowena closes her eyes and easily calms down. She then listens intently for the answers to the questions, since she had the some of the same ones.

*Kiara raises her hand high in the air*

"Professor, What's water scrying?"

Clare sits calmly and closes her eyes, listening in on the other students questions.

*sits and raises hand*

Professer do we have to get our own water or can we just make it apper with our wands

Ali put her head on her arm and began to draw absentmindedly in her notebook.

* walks in and takes a seat next to Ali and enjoys the wonderful lesson

I think you see images in the water - though I don't know how - which should resemble figures that has a traditional meaning; those are called omens. Like the Grim, I guess. But now you mention it --

*Nadia raises hand* Professor, sorry, another question: how many omens-images there are, and what are their meanings?

Okay, calm. Peace. Quiet. Tranquil. Relax. *waits a couple seconds with her eyes closed, thinking about how stupid she must look and sound, then opens them up again* I've only heard of water scrying in some books, I bet it'll be fun to actually do it.

"There are many images in water scrying but we will use the most common interpretations," said Professor Snicket as he began to jot down the interpretations.

Water Scrying Interpretations And What They Mean:
When you concentrate on your bowl and concentrating on the water you will see colours or visions around in there. These visions will be negative or positive. These are merely visions from your own mind.
Light colours = Good omen
Dark colours = Inauspicious
Clouds of white, green & blue = Good signs, joy
Green = Hope, increases with the depth of the tint
Black = Negative, inauspicious, evil
Red, orange, yellow = Unfavorable signs
Red, orange = Hatred, passion, danger, violent emotions, trouble
Yellow = Envy, malice, jealousy
Rising clouds = affirmative
Sinking clouds = negative
Visions far in the background = Distant past or future
Visions near the middle = Near past or future

If you somehow notice some symbols in your water bowl, that's perfectly alright. Below are the interpretations of what these symbols mean.

Flaming torch = Enlightenment and progress
Serpent = Astuteness, cunning
Ship = Commerce and travel
Sun = Prosperity, success, honor and preferment
Waxing moon = Growth, increase of prosperity
Waning moon = Ill luck, bad health, loss
Visions near the front = Present, immediate future

Ashlie reads the list. "Sounds interesting," she says. "When would you like us to get this started?" she asks eagerly, twirling her wand.

"Right about now, students. If you have any difficulties deciphering your visions you will need to find the closest match to the interpretations. Otherwise, you must all stay silent and concentrate."

Ashlie nodded and peered into her own bowl.

After concentration, Ashlie saw a faint sun, surrouned by fluffy looking clouds, seeming to be towards the front. The colors of the swirling clouds of light colors; whites and greens and blues, more greens though.

She began to write this down, so she wouldn't forget.

Kingsley gazes into the water.

After starting to feel like he was never going to see anything, a little faint color starts to apeer. Very little at first towards the bottom of the bowl, but slowly comming nearer and becoming darker and more defined. It looks to him like a ship, with clouds of faint greens and blues, but the blues are much more commanding.

Seeing Ashlie in front of him makeing notes he desides to follow her lead.

Rowena peers at the water. Shapes start to form. She sees some blue clouds and behind them a sun, near the middle. She looks up and notices other people writing down notes so she takes some on what she sees.

When reading the Serpent interpretation Nadia thinks to herself:
Aspidis Pertinancia Repleti, Serpentis Anima.

Looks deep into the water bowl, relaxes in her own special way --

Uh oh – I see orange, red and yellow… very intent colors at that… This is a bad omen – Wait, it’s the reflection of my own clothes *sighs* How silly of me… Mmh, I can’t see anything. No Moon, no vision of some sort *reads the list again, tries to focus* Not a thing, it’s not there. Wonder if I’m doing something wrong, or if I have no future…

Makes one last attempt: just in the middle, tending to the background, seems to there be images of some sort… Yes, the first seems to be a mythological creature, with the head of a woman… A Harpy, Nadia thinks… Next a figure which resembles a lion appear, the two images swirl into the same thing. Nadia smiles; this was probably her own imagination playing her a trick:

Mother… Father… Me… I wonder where Ailen is in all this…

Looks up from her bowl, trying to focus. No, that cannot be correct. Nadia raises her hand, “Professor, what if we see images that aren’t in the list? And how do we know that things” –gesturing the list— “are what it says they are? How did the Seers arrive to the conclusion that Dark colors are bad omens, for example?”

Clare concentrates on her bowl and stares into the water. She begins to see red and orange colors beginning to fade and go into the backround of the water as clouds with a greeny-blue color pass over them. She is about to look away from her bowl to take notes when she sees a ship pass through the clouds.

"Huh?" she says and loses her concentration, but quickly grabs a parchment to write what she saw on.

<gazes for a while and waits for her mind to clear>

"I see a red sun rising in front of me and a field of poppies in the distance..."

<writes down her visions>

*Gazes confusedly into the water, remembering to clear her mind worried her but she eventually settled down and could see swirling shapes in front of her, suddenly the shapes took a form*

"I can see a moon, professor and theres something flying near it but can't each and its falling"

*Her head follows the object down until she nearly falls into the water, she shakes her head and notes down her observations*

looks into the water and sees nothing at first but then a bright red sun looking back at him

"I can see a bright Red sun What would that mean?"
