"Protego," she shouted, swishing wand quickly. The blast of light bounced off of the shield and nearly hit Tidus. She smiled and said, "Oh, duck! That's a result of Protego you may want to put in your notes. The spell cast against it will reflect off the shield and sometimes strike the caster. Of course, a strong spell will probably pass through the shield, but it may be weakened. Practicing your Protego will make your own shield stronger. As of right now, I fully expect most spells WILL go through it, but will be weakened enough that they don't cause their normal effect."

She motioned to Tidus for him to return to his seat. "Thank you again. Five points for Slytherin. Why don't you get together with a partner again, if you feel comfortable, and begin casting Protego? I'll cast spells against anyone without a partner or who wants more instruction. Also, please only cast Expelliarmus, Impedimenta, and Incarcerous against each other. I don't care what wide range of spells and curses you might know, these are what we are practicing today. I'd hate to take away house points."

Professor, may I practice with you?

"Of course, Dean. Get yourself ready." She watched as he got into a defensive posture. "Incarcerous!" The ropes sprang from her wand and headed for Dean.

"Expelliarmus!" He shouted as he held on to his wand as tightly as possible.

Professor Rae dodged the spell and the ropes wrapped around Dean, completely unhampered. She walked over to where he was bound and shook her head. "Class, this is as good a time as any for me to remind you that we are practicing Protego. If it is your turn to practice, then your partner will cast one of the other spells learned today on you. I would prefer if we had some calm practice before we get into any dueling. Shall we schedule a class period solely for dueling in a few weeks time?"

She walked away from Dean, leaving him bound. "I'll let one of your friends help you up. Let me know when you are ready again."

Dueling, now there's an Idea. hehhehe

"Hey Tidus, could you give me a hand?"

He brushes himself off and says calmly,
"I think I've pulled myself together, Professor, Could we have another go?"

She turned to Dean. "Alright... Expelliarmus!" The spell shot towards the boy.

*Looks around for someone to practice with*

Protego!, and he hoped he got it right this time.

The spell passed through the barrier and hit Dean lightly. His wand twitched in his fingers, but did not fly from his hands. "Excellent, Dean! Very good effort. Anyone else want to give it a try? You may work with partners as well."

"Raven would you like to practice with me?"

Raven smiles at Greta and walks towards her. She smiled and held out a hand.

"You need some one to help you, I am here. Lets practice but I don't like to get hurt but i do hurt other people," she said smileing deviously and helped her towards an empty space.
She flipped out her wand and wink at Greta.

Mrs. Weasley walks over to Virginap's desk. Do you mind partnering with me again?

Raven leans back and lauches a huge Incarcerous spell at Greta.

Greta looks a little worried, but says, "Protego!" Ropes form around her in the air, then change their mind and disappear. "Well, that sort of worked," she says to Raven. My turen....

*raise hand* I was planning to read it over in books for an answer but now I've the opportunity I'll ask you, professor: Can you deflect the Aveda Kedavra Curse with Stupefy? Because I heard you couldn't, because it was a too simple defensive spell for such a complex and powerful curse (- Mad-eye Moody GoF).
And if it isn't poweful enough, what spell can we use?

My point exactly. But I know there are ways to block it, like when shileding with another substantial body, it hits the first but not the second. I was wondering if there's another way to block it. I'm sure I've heard of a spell... I think... Argh! I cannot remember! :unsure:

an easy way to block it is by conjuring a sheild, that can reflect the cres. or run.ahahah

"Actually, Nadia, there is NO spell that can deflect Avada Kedavra. Those who have survived its casting have done so through extenuating circumstances, and I would not recommend to anyone in this room that they believe they also could survive the Killing Curse. Harry Potter, an alumni of this institution that I'm sure many of you have heard of, was able to overcome the Killing Curse being thrown at him during his fourth year with a simple Expelliarmus, but the reason that worked was because his wand and the caster's were brother wands. They both contained a feather from the same Phoenix in their core. There is no shield powerful enough to keep Avada Kedavra out, although a physical barrier, as you mentioned, Nadia, would stop the spell from hitting you. Even Albus Dumbledore dodged the curse rather than putting up a shield. I'm sorry for ignoring your question... I was actually waiting until the class had occupied itself before I let myself get off task. Did that answer it for you?"
