Raven smiles at the professor and waits for her to instuct the class on the next task of the class period.

Virginiap points her wand toward Mrs. Weasley. "Incarcerous!" Sees Mrs. Weasley wrapped in rope and quickly (but carefully) pronounces "Diffindo!" and "Evanesco!"

Sorry, Mrs. Weasley...I feel really strange using that spell on anyone! Now it's your turn.

Steels herself for Mrs. Weasley's "attack".

Well, for some one who feels uncomfortable using it, you did a pretty good job. I hope I can do it as well. Mrs. Weasley points her wand at Virginap, says Incarcerous, and wave her wand in a sweeping circle. Virginap is wrapped in the ropes. Mrs. Weasley then says Diffindo and the ropes fall off. Are you alright? I didn't make them too tight. Oh dear! I no good at defending myself. I'm too afraid I might hurt my attacker. She then says Evanesco and makes the ropes disappear.

"Ok - anybody... partner?" Aschere asks, slightly nervous, as she hadn't done this spell before.

"Aschere_tonks, you can work with me, I'm pretty good at spell casting, I promise not to hurt you!"

"Incarcerous!" shouts Sarah, willing the ropes to be gentle. Aschere_Tonks is completely tied up now, but she looks like she is ok.

"Diffindo!" and quickly after "Evanesco!'' is shouted, and all of the ropes are gone and Aschere_tonks stands there once more, but she looks a little less nervous.

"Now it is your turn, honey" she puts her wand to her side and waited for the attack.

"Mmh... don't have a partner either - Raven, want to practice it with me?"

*All of the sudden Nadia shouts the incantation "Incarcelous" and Raven is tied up without a say on it.

"Ah, I am evil... This is one fo my fav spells^^ I have always liked it and was already studing some theory just before. Plus Protego, Stupefy, Petrificus Totalus & the Jelly-legs jinx... yes, I think that's all I know of defensive-offensive spells.

Diffido!" Nadia shouts and cuts Raven's binding. "Another we studied last term, with professor Hendrik. And finally... Evanesco!"

Ropes dissapear.

"This we studied one of last classes at Charms? Though it's really a Transfiguration spell. *sighs happily* How nice is to know everything^^"



Casts Incarcelous on Backslash while he's not looking.

Wonders what's the last spell. Hope that's one I don't know about, that will make it more interesting^^

No it wasn't. Mrs. Weasley help Virginap up, and they walk back to their seats.

Professor Rae watched her students return to their seats. When they were all settled, she raised her wand again. "The last curse we are going to learn is Protego. I KNOW that some of you already know this. The Defense club has done a fairly good job learning curses and defensive spell, and I know many of them already know this spell."

"Anyway, can anyone tell me what Protego does?"

Protego is also known as the shield charm. It makes a magical barrier which deflects hexes.

"Precisely, Greta... five points for Ravenclaw. Could I get a volunteer from the class to help me demonstrate?" She looks around the class, looking for a hand to raise.

"Thank you, Tidus. If you could join me at the front of the room...?" He moved to the front of the room and took up a similar position to what Raven had earlier. "Now, I want you to cast one of the spells we've learned today on me. I will attempt to defend myself with the Protego." She readied herself, going into a defensive posture, her wand held loosely but securely.

Aw! Pity. Yes, we already know, specially the second years^^ And adding to what Greta said: Protego comes from Latin, it means 'to defend ' (pro-TAY-go) It's popular in dueling for its utility for deflecting Hexes or Curses and Jinxes.

*raise hand* I was planning to read it over in books for an answer but now I've the opportunity I'll ask you, professor: Can you deflect the Aveda Kedavra Curse with Stupefy? Because I heard you couldn't, because it was a too simple defensive spell for such a complex and powerful curse (- Mad-eye Moody GoF).
And if it isn't poweful enough, what spell can we use?
