Hendrik 03-26-2004 06:43 PM

Professor Hendrik erases his notes from the blackboard and clears his desk. He then levitates the tank containing the Quandury and heads back to his office. As he is leaving his classroom he can't help but wonder where the congregation from.......*thinks to himself* "where could they be...possible delays...last term........I wonder what she's doing now." His cheeks flush.

She-Who-Is-Not-To-Be-Psycho! 03-26-2004 06:47 PM

*Nadia wanders in and takes seat; she notices the professor flushed cheeks, apparently thinking to himself.

"Hi, professor, is everything fine?" Nadia asks with a polite puzzled face.*

Shacklebolt 03-26-2004 06:49 PM

Mr. Shrine walks next to Professor Hendrik.

"Reporting for Duty, Sir" he said with a laugh

Shacklebolt 03-26-2004 06:50 PM

Mr. Shrine assembled all his notes and waited for more students to show.

Hendrik 03-26-2004 06:53 PM

"Yes Nadia, everything is fine...just preoccupied. Ah Mr. Shrine, very good! Well I will leave the students in your care, I have some...er....things to check on. Enjoy yourselves!"

With that, Professor Hendrik takes the Quandury and heads for his office.

HPcrazy_in_jamaica 03-26-2004 06:56 PM

*Looks around and see Nadia and goes to sit near to her.*

"Hello Nadia, how are you today?" he says politely.

"Hello Professor......., Mr. Shrine?"

She-Who-Is-Not-To-Be-Psycho! 03-26-2004 06:58 PM

*Sees Professor Hendrik go, puzzled, and turns to Mr Shrine.

"Are you teaching us today, Mr Shrine?" Nadia asks. "Why so? There seems not to be anything wrong with the professor  "
*

Shacklebolt 03-26-2004 06:59 PM

"Yes, I will be teaching this class. I'm afraid that is all you have to know." he said

Shacklebolt 03-26-2004 07:02 PM

Mr Shrine then took out a picture of a Unicorn. He then muttered

Engorgio!

The picture enlargened.

HPgurl 03-26-2004 07:02 PM

*Walks into the classroom sits at a desk in the back*

'Hi Mr. Shrine, hi everyone. Wow, look at the unicorn, its so pretty!!'

Shacklebolt 03-26-2004 07:05 PM

"Hello, HPgurl. Class will begin shortly" he said

Shacklebolt 03-26-2004 07:06 PM

Mr. Shrine smiled.

"That's just a picture. Wait till you see the real thing"

She-Who-Is-Not-To-Be-Psycho! 03-26-2004 07:09 PM

*Nadia beams excitedly.

"Unicorns! Yay! They are my fav magical beast!" Nadia says then looks at picture. "I have one or two pictured myself of unircorns as well, professor -- here!"

Nadia rumages though her bag looking for the unicorn pictures...*

'Real thing? Yay *jumps up and down* When does the lesson start?'

HPcrazy_in_jamaica 03-26-2004 07:11 PM

"That's quiet interesting." he says looking into his book.

rookwood 03-26-2004 07:11 PM

Rookwood enters the class.
"Hi Proffesor,"he said with a smile and took his seat.

Shacklebolt 03-26-2004 07:12 PM

"I am not a sub, Skiving. I am a guest speaker. Nadia, that's okay. Save your pictures for later. Soon, you may want to take some new ones" he said

"Lesson will now begin"

"Now who can tell me why the Ministry gives Unicorns an XXXX classification?"

She-Who-Is-Not-To-Be-Psycho! 03-26-2004 07:16 PM

cause they are the target of muggles and need to be protected. And it must be treated with great respect

Shacklebolt 03-26-2004 07:19 PM

"Excellent, both of you.

Five points to Slytherin. Five Points to Hufflepuff!"

"Okay. Now, who can tell me the color of a unicorn at an adolescent stage?"

She-Who-Is-Not-To-Be-Psycho! 03-26-2004 07:21 PM

when grow up its skin is the purest white; they reach this stage a little pefore being grow up, before that the are golden.

rookwood 03-26-2004 07:22 PM

"gold i think" said rookwood

Shacklebolt 03-26-2004 07:22 PM

"Correct again! Excellent, Skiving" he said

"Now I am looking for your opinions. I am sure you all know about the dastardly use of Unicorn blood. Now I want to ask you: Should Unicorn blood be provided in hospitals for those who need life support?"

HPgurl 03-26-2004 07:22 PM

'When they are two years old, they are silver.'

HPcrazy_in_jamaica 03-26-2004 07:23 PM

"No, as the bloods use can cuase more harm then good. Also killing such a Creature is wrong." Mike says.

She-Who-Is-Not-To-Be-Psycho! 03-26-2004 07:25 PM

The blood of the unicorm is cursed because you live a life by killing something so pure...

Shacklebolt 03-26-2004 07:25 PM

"Interesting. BUT. What if they needed only a few more days to live, just to set their affairs straight?"

HPgurl 03-26-2004 07:25 PM

'Of course not. Personally, I don't see the point of living if you've only got a half-life...thats just my opinion though'

rookwood 03-26-2004 07:26 PM

No it is a most unholy act to kill such a noble animal.

She-Who-Is-Not-To-Be-Psycho! 03-26-2004 07:28 PM

No, I don't think so... maybe they could use another part of the body without harming it, like the thorn and hairs which have powerful properties as well.
And well, it's such a beautiful thing... I wouldn't dare touch it, my case

HPgurl 03-26-2004 07:29 PM

I agree with She-Who-Is-Not-To-Be-Psycho! I wouldn't be able to kill a creature as beautiful and pure as a unicorn but if another part of the body could be used without harming the unicorn...I still wouldn't do it, but I guess some people are desprate enough to.

Shacklebolt 03-26-2004 07:30 PM

" I don't mean killing the Unicorn, I mean if a Unicorn is already dead" he said. He was curious, but he had very bright students. He didn't tell them that.. yet

Backslash 03-26-2004 07:31 PM

Personally I wouldn't bother to kill a unicorn under any circumstance. My life isn't worth taking anothers, expecially the life of a defenseless creature.

If the unicorn was already dead, I still wouldn't. One should respect the living and the dead.

HPgurl 03-26-2004 07:32 PM

Even if the unicorn was already dead, I would still feel guilty.

Shacklebolt 03-26-2004 07:33 PM

"Backslash, just to let you know, Unicorns are NOT defenseless. They have a horn on their head, remember? Anyway, I will allow you to discuss this topic amongst yourselves for a while. And I would like to see the class come up with a verdict upon my request"

She-Who-Is-Not-To-Be-Psycho! 03-26-2004 07:33 PM

Well... apart from how disgusting that is.... I don't know, I supposed it would depend of the person; if he/she would risk being cursed after death even by only some more minutes alive... who knows! Given the case, when you are about to die and lost a lot of things you may think it's better to live such a life... or such a *death* more like...

HPgurl 03-26-2004 07:35 PM

If you had only a half-life, after you drank the blood, would you even have the right thinking to be able to use your last days, minutes to set your affairs in order?

She thinks for a moment then says, "I'd don't think we should use the horn if it has to be removed and can't grow back."

Well, how do the wizard kind make their wands if they can't get hold of the unicorn's parts someway without killing them? I doubt they, the wand-makers, want to be cursed by doing so, there MUST be a way of getting it off without killing them...

She-Who-Is-Not-To-Be-Psycho! 03-26-2004 07:42 PM

Skiving smiled at her intelligent friend. "I just meant the horn, not the hair."
*Frowns pondering* But don't we use the thorn powder in potions and stuff. And I'm pretty sure there's thorn powder in the wands too, though I might be wrong.

*Nadia smiles at Skiving* Well, thanks^^ Though you are wining me over fr quite an amount =P

I still think it changes from person to person, matter to their history... If I were to loose something so imporant in my life if dying - like the love of my life, to be corny only- I think there's possibilitties to risk everything over that, even your afterlife.

HPgurl 03-26-2004 07:44 PM

Like I said before though, with a half-life, would you be able to think the same way, feel the same emotions? I don't know, but probaly not, so wouldn't it be usless anyway?

Shacklebolt 03-26-2004 07:45 PM

"Okay, I've heard you, and I know that you are still against it. Unicorn Tail Hairs are removed by simply plucking the hair from the unicorn. I'm sure some of you must have a unicorn hair in your wands. As for horns, the companies do not release it. I know for a fact it does not hurt nor kill the unicorn, though"

HPgurl 03-26-2004 07:48 PM

I don't understand the bit with the horn, is the whole horn remove, or just a little of it?

She-Who-Is-Not-To-Be-Psycho! 03-26-2004 07:49 PM

*Nods at professor,* "I figured"

*Turns to HPgurl* "Well, yes... but let's see it from another perspective; say, that a very responsible man, a hero even, need that time to help someone before he goes, maybe he is *sacrifying* his/her alfterlife happiness by doing that, and the Unicorn would be already dead, so it's not *his fault*. I would NOT say he is *innocent*, but I think there's reason why one would like to risk their afterlife... if there's an afterlife to start with, that is...

Oh, about the half-life; I don't understand totally the concept; what is to life a *half-life* exactly?"

I would hope so, because if not, should a unicorn get caught, its pretty much defensless

Shacklebolt 03-26-2004 07:52 PM

"Yes, they do grow back, Skiving

Nadia, I'm afraid the only ones who know exactly what a half life is are only those who have one. They are mostly all dark wizards, one of them namely Voldemort." he said

I get what your saying, but if you are living a half-life, a cursed life.....would you be able to think clearly to help that person?

Point... I mean how do you know that once a person has a half-life they will be able to totally think clearly?

Well, as the professor said nobody knows what's a half-life but those who have it. But I kinda agree with you in what a half-life must be -- I've a theory of my own : I think a half-life eliminate all *feelings* within yourself.

Strangely that's what both heroes and villans want (and most humans); not to have feelings, so that way they are pefect and doesn't have the feelings being an obtacle to their doing. And paradoxically that's being *alive* after all; you still have blood inside you if you can feel it boil and make you feel hot inside. If not you are a robot, and life isn't worthliving.

I like what you said about the heros and vilians not wanting feelings, odd though that in those muggle movies, the heroes always end up in love.....

Maybe they are like robots, no one really knows, like Mr. Shrine said, but themselves, personaly, I don't want to imagine what it would feel like to have a half-life.

Shacklebolt 03-26-2004 08:02 PM

"Read the rules. Do not announce your lateness in class, Dawn Bloom. I won't take any points, but I will next time.

On a lighter note, They can think clearly. Voldemort could. But I just can't tell you what it is like because I just don't know. Nobody except those who lived it do"

HPcrazy_in_jamaica 03-26-2004 08:03 PM

"Perhaps in that aspect the blood may be considered addictive, like morphine addiction in muggle sociaty. "

I'm guesing actually, if while living you are protected from death, I think death, or after it, should be cursed as well. In other words; you would be going to *Hell*

It's like, killing a unicorn is the evilest of the evilest =P to put it someway, because there isn't but a most pure creature, and you are to be punished. Sounds to me like a Biblical rule or something. Maybe the half-life means you have got a foot on hell and the other in this world. A *living* hell in other words.

ooc: I hope nothing of what I said is considered cussing *0_0*

HPgurl 03-26-2004 08:05 PM

Not to change the subject.....but do we get to see a real unicorn soon *says hopefully*

Shacklebolt 03-26-2004 08:06 PM

Natural Habitat.

More specific, Dawn

She-Who-Is-Not-To-Be-Psycho! 03-26-2004 08:11 PM

North Europe forest

Shacklebolt 03-26-2004 08:11 PM

"Nadia is correct. Two points to Slytherin"

She-Who-Is-Not-To-Be-Psycho! 03-26-2004 08:12 PM

*Yayness^^*

Well, not A (1) North Europe forest, but North Europe forests in general *blush* I just thought I would clear that out =P

*=P =P =P*

*blush* OK, Mr Shrine..

HarryPotter99 03-26-2004 08:17 PM

i never knew they lived there! cool!

Shacklebolt 03-26-2004 08:17 PM

"I'm sure everyone understood, Nadia" he said

Shacklebolt 03-26-2004 08:20 PM

"Now, I'd like you to stay quiet here for one minute. I've got a quick errand to run. I'm leaving Nadia in charge. Nadia, tell me the names of any misbehaviours" he said, then running off for a sec

Shacklebolt 03-26-2004 08:23 PM

Mr Shrine came in front of the class. But he wasn't walking.

He was saddled on his unicorn, Ray, who was galloping toward the class.

"Nadia, you are relieved of your duties. Thanks. Now everyone, I'd like you to meet my friend. His name is Ray" he said, while still saddled onto him,

HarryPotter99 03-26-2004 08:23 PM

hello ray!

HPgurl 03-26-2004 08:24 PM

*Gasp*
He's SO hansom.

Dawn Bloom 03-26-2004 08:25 PM

*gasp* Omg... a Real unicorn!

She-Who-Is-Not-To-Be-Psycho! 03-26-2004 08:25 PM

*stares at unicorn amazed*

How beautiful! *turn to professor* You think we can pet him? Or is it a she?

Shacklebolt 03-26-2004 08:27 PM

"I earned Ray's trust, guys. I saved his life. Now we are inseperable. But I don't want to talk about all that. Just have a look at his beauty" he said still in admiration of Ray

"I can never get over it, and Ray lives with me"

HPgurl 03-26-2004 08:28 PM

He is so beautiful. Whatever you did, I am sure that it was a great thing!

quidditch_chick 03-26-2004 08:28 PM

Amazed by the unicorn's beauty only one word came out then, "Wow..."

Dawn Bloom 03-26-2004 08:29 PM

Wow, Professor, Dawn asks, curiously, what do they eat, if anything."

Shacklebolt 03-26-2004 08:30 PM

"You'll get your chance to pet it later, everyone"

She-Who-Is-Not-To-Be-Psycho! 03-26-2004 08:30 PM

It's true what Skiving says; generally unicorns avoid humans, both muggles or of the wizarding kind, though still have a preference for witches and wizards... Would it let us pet it?

*not sure if the professor heard her the first time she repeats:* "Is it a she o a he?"

Shacklebolt 03-26-2004 08:31 PM

"Ray is a male, Nadia. Ray will let you pet him under my direction and assurance.

Dawn, Ray doesn't need to eat much. He loves sugar cubes, but his diet mainly consists of Grass and Hay"

Dawn Bloom 03-26-2004 08:34 PM

"Ok, do u bathe them, just wondering?"

HPgurl 03-26-2004 08:34 PM

Does he stay outside, or is he allowed in your house?

Shacklebolt 03-26-2004 08:36 PM

"He usually doesn't need bathing, but we live close to the lake, so it's not far. Yes, of course he lives in my hut, that's where he sleeps!"

HPgurl 03-26-2004 08:37 PM

How long have you had him for?

She-Who-Is-Not-To-Be-Psycho! 03-26-2004 08:39 PM

*Yayness!*

"I'm guessing Ray is loving Hogwarts," Nadia says smiling. "For one you cannot have a pet magical creature around in muggle areas so he wouldn't have the space to galopate and use his legs, for exercise. Besides here he can meet knew friends. Reminds me of... someone"

Shacklebolt 03-26-2004 08:40 PM

"I've had him for quite a while. 3 years, in fact. Yes, you can come to my hut and visit him, as well as my Phoenix."

Backslash 03-26-2004 08:40 PM

(Stares at the unicorn in awe.)

How old is Ray?

(Professor answers.)

Oh. He looks strong...

Shacklebolt 03-26-2004 08:41 PM

"Ray loves it, as do I :) . Ray is 17 years old" he said

rookwood 03-26-2004 08:43 PM

"do you have a phoinex as well? that's great. i hope you bring it one day in the class."

HPgurl 03-26-2004 08:43 PM

Is 17 old for a Unicorn, or do they live for a long time?

Dawn Bloom 03-26-2004 08:43 PM

Oh, so then it's true Professor, unicorns are more apt to approache a female, rather than a male? If so, what are your views on that?

Shacklebolt 03-26-2004 08:44 PM

"I'm just teaching today. Professor Hendrik is your teacher. You can visit me at my hut to see my phoenix"

Poirot 03-26-2004 08:44 PM

"Hmm... interesting," RJ said. "Seventeen, eh?"

Shacklebolt 03-26-2004 08:45 PM

"Skiving, Unicorns do have very long lives. But 17 is an adolescent stage, just like humans"

"Dawn, that is just the way nature works. They do feel females more safe, but I really love Ray, just like he loves me. Ray's an exception to that rule"

She-Who-Is-Not-To-Be-Psycho! 03-26-2004 08:46 PM

Is it? Is it the average? So it's prety old, isn't he?

*Turn to rookwood* Actually we did Phoenix last term, I practically did a monography about them. Have photosw and everything. And we studied Professor Dumbledore's Fawkes along with a, err, *artificially made* phoenix.

*Nadia fell silent after that.*

Dawn Bloom 03-26-2004 08:47 PM

Wow, that's extraordinary, so, are they only white, or are some other colours?

HPgurl 03-26-2004 08:47 PM

He is such a great creature, I have never met another Unicorn before, I have always wanted to though!!

Shacklebolt 03-26-2004 08:47 PM

"No, Nadia, 17 is not old at all. A 17 year old human isn't old. At this stage, neither is a unicorn"

Shacklebolt 03-26-2004 08:48 PM

"Dawn, foals are gold. Before reaching maturity, they are silver. Then for the rest of their lives, they are white."

Dawn Bloom 03-26-2004 08:50 PM

And foals, are the female ones right? Do you know why this is, she asks interestedly.

She-Who-Is-Not-To-Be-Psycho! 03-26-2004 08:50 PM

Ups! Sorry, didn't hear the first time (ooc: didn't get to edit =P -- It's younger than real me! )

*Keeps staring at unicorn entranced* Oh, Mr Shrine, are you planning to end the lesson soon, because I still have more question. Or are you giving *us* questions?
