| | The Meditation Room Welcome to the Room of Meditation! Professor Vance is of the mind that to be a good interpreter of the future and of the Divination arts, then you need to clear your mind from all other thoughts and to be in a room that opens up all your senses. The room is decorated in warm pink, purples, greens, blues and with a high concentration of incense possibly lavender but you'd have to smell to see, it varies from day to day. As you step in relaxing, soothing instrumental music starts to play quietly to help stimulate your mind and senses emanating from somewhere unspecific.
The room is set up with round tables for working alone or with a small group. The wooden chairs are cushioned and charmed to be comfortable even for those that spend several hours in here. In the back wall cabinets of mahogany you will find any divination material you may need for practice sessions from stones, tarot cards and crystal balls to name a select few. If they haven't been already snagged then you can also find hand models for palmistry readings and astrology posters. Near the entrance there are cupboards with tea cups, saucers, leaves and kettles. Be mindful not to break any china! If you do Professor Vance will not be pleased.
This room is open to all students of any year to use for study, practice divination or just to relax the mind from the ongoing school happenings. OOC: This room is for students and staff alike to RP in. Please follow all classroom, school and general SS rules. Just because Professor Vance may not be in the room doesn't mean she won't hear what's going on in here. |

Might help her to know what she was supposed to be looking for? "Of course. It's only fair. And I even made sure to shower after my run this morning." Just in case she was wondering, her feet weren't that sweaty. "You want to do mine first? Left or right?" Isa got another tea cup out and poured tea for both of them. ”Here you go. You could do a tea leaf reading with it if you want to.” She handed a cup of tea to Skylar. It hadn’t occurred to Isa that people might think it odd that she was doing so many different types of readings at once. ”Uh, yeah, I want to make sure that they all give the same sort of answer, you know in case one of the readings turns out to be completely wrong. I have a really important decision to make and I wouldn’t want to make the wrong decision based on one bad reading.” Maybe it was silly to make important decisions from divination readings, but wasn’t the point of divination to give you insights into the future that could guide you? She was going to do a lot of self reflecting on this decision too, not just go with whatever she interpreted from the reading. Hopefully the results would match up. Isa would save the tea leaves to interpret later for now, because there were foot readings to be done. She would finish drinking the tea before the foot reading though, so it didn’t go cold. ”How about the right foot? Do we have to make foot casts, of can we just look at each others feet?”

Honestly that was the last thing on her mind but she might check for some symbols that indicated death was near. Because this was one of those years that it sure felt like it. But that wasn't the topic of today because it seemed something was bothering Isa, and Skylar had to frown at her. "Important decision. Well hopefully, i can help you sort it out?"
Right foot. Okay, good. She nodded and slipped her shoe off and reached to remove her sock. "I think, ... we did the foot casts in class, so why don't we try reading directly from the foot this time?" If that was okay with her.

Isa had a feeling that she should explain the situation to Skylar not just as context for all the readings but as her friend. Talking it through with people was more likely to help reach an actual decision than any tea leaf at the bottom of a cup. ”I’m, um, I’m considering my last term at Castelobruxo for their excellent herbology program and then maybe finding an apprenticeship in the field instead of uni. Plans for graduation are a different question, mostly I’m thinking about what to do next year.” It had always been Isa’s dream to go on an exchange program to Castelobruxo for a term, she just thought that would have been earlier on. It would be an amazing opportunity for her to dive deeper into the subject she planned to pursue a career in. Last summer in Brazil had been amazing and she really wanted to go back there. She would really miss all of her friends here if she left Hogwarts! Tough decision here. The university or apprenticeship thing she still had time to figure out, but determining what to do next year was more urgent as there wasn’t much time left in this term. Post graduation plans she could figure out next year from either school.
Right, time to do a foot reading on Skylar. ”Reading directly from the feet is okay. Want to sit down over here?” She opened up her journal and got her quill ready to write down her observations. Drawing a grid on the paper, Isa set up a chart with spots to record important characteristics of each toe including the size, shape, and direction of the toe itself and what the nails on the toes were like. At the bottom of the page there was space to record general observations about the whole foot. Isa waited for Skylar to take her shoe and sock off. ”Ready?”

"Oh wow. Maybe ... didn't Healer Reed either teach there or attend school there? Perhaps you could owl him too for advice." Brazil though. So far away; nevermind the fact that she'd applied for Wizarding University as far as Japan.
She nodded ... "That sounds good," she plopped down on the floor and wiggled her toes out in front so Isa could have a good look at the sole of her foot, curious as to how the perspective might change from someone else looking at versus her own reading in class. "I can gaze at yours too ... i guess your left one would be easiest, while you're looking at mine?"

"I can gaze at yours too ... i guess your left one would be easiest, while you're looking at mine?" Sending an owl to someone who knew more about Castelobruxo sounded like something that might be helpful. ”I don’t really know him too well, do you think he would be okay with it if I owled him?” Isa really hadn’t talked to Healer Reed much when he was at Hogwarts, and she was sure he wouldn’t be expecting to hear from her now. How did one ask someone they didn’t know very well for advice? She could figure that out.
Isa took off her left shoe and sock so that Skylar could take a look while Isa did a reading on Skylar. ”Let’s see, it looks like you have a Flame foot with a long second toe. This means you might be anxious a lot, but you’re also very athletic and energetic. I see those in you in being quidditch captain and worrying about your future. You have a cracked heel too, which could mean you feel pulled in too many directions. Again, relates to your uncertainty about your future path.” Isa wrote down her observations in her notebook. Time to look at the toes now. ”You’re big toe is smaller than your second toe, so that could mean that you have difficulty in expressing joy. You have a long second toe which shows that you have great vision, like to be in charge, and have a gift for instilling confidence in others. All qualities that I’m sure make you a great quidditch captain. For your third toe… I don’t know, looks like a normal toe. I think I would call that a round shape? So you’re tactful with aggression?” Sometimes it was difficult to discern the significance of something as subtle as toe shape. ”Your fourth toe looks slightly bent towards the little toe, so maybe you are worried about controlling your future. Your fifth toe is sort of big which could mean you have a lot of fears. Your nails seem to have horizontal ridges, which points to instability and insecurity.” For each toe Isa noted her findings in her notebook. ”Any of that sound like you?” Given that feet were a permanent body part, Isa figured that this sort of reading was meant to give a general overview and probably wouldn’t change that much over the course of a lifetime. ”Ready for you to do a reading on me whenever you are.” She had already removed her shoe and sock earlier, so her foot was all ready.

Skylar frowned. Isa was only a year younger than her, so how did she not know him too well? Shrugging it off, she gave a small smile. "I don't see why not. He did teach potions and potions goes quite well with Herbology. And you're welcome to say I suggested it." She was sure a letter from a former student would be welcomed by him; he didn't seem like the type to shun replies or anything like that.
She listened to Isa speak about her foot and swallowed, feeling rather vulnerable and not because it was Isa. Somehow she trusted Isa which was weird; she smiled weakly about her being a great quidditch captain. "All of it," she whispered, taking a deep breath, to collect her thoughts before she could begin at Isa's reading.
Tilting her head to study it, she noticed the slight slope down of each of her toes .... the big toe was the largest on Isa's foot and well, it looked ... ordinary. Which made sense, as Skylar glanced down at her textbook. "Your foot seems to fit that of the Roman foot ... which it says here people with this shaped foot are NOT plain Janes though. They're very social and outgoing," definitely Isa, who seemed to thrive on talking to everyone regardless of house or year or even the moodiest of people. "It says you're open for new experiences, could be love or travel or anything in between... Which means, well, you went to Brazil last summer, so that makes sense. Although it also says here that you could be arrogant or eccentric?" She raised her brow subtly at the sixth year, yet smiled because it was kind of true. "So your big toe is rounded and goes slightly towards your little toes, which i guess means you're sensitive and tactful." Makes sense. "But also, you're in a rush to reach the future?" Peering over at the toenails, she made a small face, before continuing on. "It seems there are some horizontal ridges on the nails too which it appears to be a sign of ... uh ... emotional instability connecting with the energies of that toe. So I guess about love and trust and intuitive action, emotional stuff is associated with the toes on your left foot? And I guess you can feel insecure due to perceived obstacles and uncertain about certain ideas?" Made sense too considering the decisions Isa was battling with.
Humming slightly, she blinked. "Oh and one more thing... your foot seems ... a little flat? Which I guess means you're a practical realist. Says you need to dream a little more and you rely a lot on support from others?" Skylar frowned. "I don't think that bit is true, at least not with Herbology." Just saying. Isa was brilliant with Herbology and it was thanks to her that Skylar had managed the grade she had with her OWL. Quote:
Name & House: Isa Wright, Hufflepuff
Foot (left/right?): Left
Feet characteristics (cracked, swollen, flat etc?) and meanings:
Shape One, the common or Roman Foot. While you may assume that because it has “common” in its name, the shape denotes a Plain Jane personality, you couldn’t be further from the truth. People with a Common foot shape are usually very social and outgoing, as well as always open for new experiences, whether they include love, travel or anything in between. One of the downsides of having a Common foot shape is the tendency to be a bit arrogant or eccentric.
Low arches or flat feet mean that you are ever the practical realist. You need to allow yourself to dream a little more. You do tend to rely on a lot of support from others.
Toe characteristics (round, crooked, big, small etc?) + meanings:
Big Toe: A toe bent towards the little toe - In a rush to reach the future. A rounded toe - Sensitive and tactful.
Horizontal ridges on nail: Emotional instability connected with the energies of that toe. Also, feels insecure due to perceived obstacles and can feel uncertain about protecting certain ideas.
General thoughts on what your foot says about you and your personality (do you agree with what you’ve found or not?):
It seems to coincide a lot with what I know about Isa and her personality. Also about the struggles she's currently dealing with on whether to take the leap of faith and study abroad for her final year.
