The Courtyard is where the students spend their time between lessons if they’re not in their Common Room or the Great Hall. Its architecture reveals the Courtyard to be one of the oldest parts of the castle. It connects the castle with the Grounds and also leads to the Wooden Bridge.
In the middle of the Courtyard stands an antique ceramic fountain, perfect for admiring your own reflection or making wishes at. Be aware that once your coin has been tossed into the water, you may never get it back as it will continue to sink. Be careful not to fall in as an attempt of retrieving it, the staff does not usually fancy a swim in the fountain to fetch little students.
In between classes, the Courtyard is usually filled with students enjoying some sun before heading back into the castle again. Whether you choose to occupy one of the many stone benches or enjoy a picnic in the warm lush grass, the Courtyard is the perfect place to relax with your friends from all houses.

That was an adventure for another day.
Current adventure, however, was trying to get this dumb firstie to shut up and buy the pass!!! How did she STILL have questions?? The whole thing was pretty straight forward, Zoryn thought so at least. "Typically I sell for 'em for six galleons a piece... But since you're small and cute... I'll sell one to you for the BARGAIN price of only FOUR galleons!"
Pretty darn convincing. Zoryn was a GENIUS. Obviously.
Four galleons? Nettie didn't have four galleons, obviously. She barely had four sickles. She'd spent all her money on candy on the train, and wasn't going to get any more allowance until next week. Still, the girl didn't need to know that. She smiled, acting like she was still interested and bouncing a bit on her toes. "Can I see it? So I know if it's worth it or not?" she asked.
THAT would get the girl to admit she was lying. She was sure of it! There was no pool, Nettie was sure of it now - but she wasn't going to just accuse some older girl of lying. That was no fun! Although she did appreciate being called small and cute. It was an aesthetic she was always striving for.

Haha, oops. So maybe it was obvious that it really wasn't hers because Vivian's I'm-obviously-a-bad-liar mannerism of twitching her lip always surfaced when she wasn't telling the truth. Her mum had pointed that out a lot of times, and there was no reason to further lie when your own mum had already caught you red-handed, right?
"Yeah, it's not mine either. We're even," the blond sheepishly admitted and loosened her grip on the ticket since it didn't seem that Emmalyn was going to budge. "You can hold it." Unless she ran away with the ticket, of course. Vivian had been working on her defensive charms if anything unfortunate happened, and she really didn't want to jinx a second year though. How very un-Head-Girl-like that would be.
The chances of that being a winning ticket was slim, though, but it wouldn't hurt to find out. "I'm not against that, no," Vivian replied before glancing around. "Know anyone who actually reads the Prophet?" Because Vivian didn't. Not everyday, at least.
"It appears we are both being truthful" she said with a smile. That made her happy and relieved. She had no desire to try and trick the girl, but she didn't want to be taken advantage of either. Now that she felt they were on equal ground, she was ready to sort the ticket situation out.
"Oh, thanks" her fingers almost tingled with excitement at having sole position of the prized ticket. What if it was a winner? Her mind whirled with the possibilities. She had already purchased a broom, but she could have a nice broom and a practice boom. Plus, she would be able to pay for quidditch camp for the next few summers. There might even be enough for her to stock up with candy the next Hogsmeade visit.
"Anyone who reads the Prophet? Gosh, I don't think I do. Well, maybe one of the professors, but I'm not sure I want to go and ask one of them. They might make us give them the ticket. If we don't ask, then they can't tell us we can't keep it, right?" That sounded like a plan. She had said it before and she would say it again. "It's always better to ask for forgiveness than to ask for permission."
She looked down at the ticket and thought. "I wonder if there's another way to find out the numbers." After thinking a moment, her eyes widened "You probably know all kinds of spells. Do you have a spell to get us a Daily Prophet? Like summons one here or something like that?" It was worth a try.

Noble had been deep in thought and headed back inside towards the castle when he'd caught sight of the two students flailing around for the piece of paper. Why neither of them had thought to just summon it he'd never know, but now they were right in his shortest trajectory to the door. Grumble, grumble.
He was just starting to circumventing them when he heard that little snippet mentioning Professors, and he stopped abruptly. "Ask one of us what, exactly?" Neither of them seemed the type to cause trouble, but Noble could never tell with Prefects around here. Goodness, one of the ones that had absolutely no sense of self-preservation in the Potions classroom had been given Head Boy of all things.
As for permission or forgiveness? Noble raised an eyebrow, a smirk spreading across his lips. "You sure you really want to roll those dice?"

A cold sweat began to break out on her forehead at the sight of the meanest professor at Hogwarts. Of all the professors that could have possibly come upon them, he was her last choice. She silently willed him to walk past, but it only seemed to draw him closer. She quickly mopped the sweat from her brow with the sleeve of her robe, trying her best to not look terrified.
“I’ve never had much luck with games of chance.” She squeaked out as an answer to his question, only to remember she was still holding a lottery ticket. Her hand moved swiftly behind her back, in an attempt to hide said ticket. He didn’t see that, right?
She looked to Vivian for some signal as to what should be said. “We don’t need a professor. Not really. We were...I mean… we were looking to find a Daily Prophet.” That was a truthful statement. They were looking to get a hold of a copy of the Daily Prophet. She hoped he would be satisfied with that and mosey along without asking any further questions.

Well, truthful was one way to describe Vivian. But perhaps letting Emmalyn hold the ticket was enough proof that she could be trusted, right? Still, since they both found it, they'd have to half the prize and all. Not a bad idea. Imagine what she could do with that much money, though.
Vivian couldn't resist a small laugh. So she wasn't the only one who wasn't a big reader of the Daily Prophet? She wouldn't blame the Hufflepuff at all. The news on there were either random features and the usual happenings at Hogwarts. Like last term, about that Dufftown weekend. Apparently, things that happen here at Hogwarts just always seem to make their way into the Daily Prophet... so she'd rather not read something she'd seen or experienced anyway. "A... professor?" Well, perhaps they were most likely.
Or the summoning charm could work. Nodding, Vivian almost took her wand out when Professor Noble arrived.
... Err. Vivian wasn't sure she wanted to do any explaining. Were they that suspicious? But the Head Girl side-eyed Emmalyn when she started to look... was she terrified of Noble? Huh. Interesting. "Good day, professor," Vivian greeted, and then gave Emmalyn another look. Perhaps to make her stop babbling things and showing signs of fear. Don't need a professor? LOL.
"Yes, sir. We were looking for a copy of the recent Daily Prophet issue," she said. Calm and all. Noble's presence resembled that of a dementor's, and Vivian wasn't going to show weakness. "Do you happen to have one, Professor? One we could borrow?" And return as soon as possible, of course.
Cue innocent smile.

Daisy actually found Skylar's advice comforting. "Thanks for the advice, Skylar. I think you are definitely onto something especially when you mentioned finding a niche to make dad proud of me."
She then got up and collected her belongings as she told Skylar, "Thanks for listening. I must be going back to my dorm now. Bye."
"Then you'd maybe want to consider your stance on permission versus forgiveness." There was a warning tone in his voice as he looked between the two girls, Emmalyn's nervousness at his presence not unnoticed. "I'd hate to have take points from Hufflepuff." He was less worried about taking points from Slytherin, if he was being honest.
And sadly for Emmalyn, he did see that little attempt at sleight of hand. She was no muggle magician, that was for sure.
He turned to Vivian now. "And why might you be wanting with a copy of the Daily Prophet?" He certainly had one, down in his office, although he didn't confirm as such just yet. He suspected most of the professors did too, and it wouldn't surprise him if all of the common rooms hosted a copy on a coffee table, or if a few copies had been left on the House tables after breakfast. Some of the other students weren't as oblivious to current affairs as these two were. "I'm guessing it isn't just to do the crossword."
"Reducio!" The Quaffle, which she probably shouldn't have to begin with -Hey, if they're not gonna make sure all the gear is accounted for and put away properly, it's their fault, not hers-, remained stubbornly its correct size. Quinn glanced back at her infinity book. Currently it showed the collective Standard Book(s) of Spells. She studied the wand movements again, confident that that was the issue.
When Quinn usually didn't feel like getting lost in a work of fiction, or playing the violin, you could often find her practicing spells, usually ones above her year, because those where the fun spells, yeah? It was, she was sure, helping to build her bond with her rather temperamental wand. It also helped improve her skills on the spells they learned in class.
Today, however, her mind kept wandering back to last night, and then wondering what was keeping Beth this time. A wide cylindrical package sat waiting for the birthday girl to actually show up. Also, Quinn really had to tell Beth something. Something big.
Right. Spells. Quinn glanced back to her book, more to try and occupy herself than anything and carefully tried to match the wand movement diagrammed in the book.

...... Dude. First years were SO annoying.
Zoryn's smile quickly faded into a look of displeasure. "You don't have four galleons, do you?" Zoryn didn't actually know if that was true, but it was worth a shot. Plus, if she said it with enough confidence and the girl didn't actually have the money, then it would probably embarrass her and maybe then she'd stop asking so many questions!!!!!!!!!
Plus, you can't trick someone who constantly pulls tricks on other people, kiddo. 'Cause they know all the tricks. That and Zoryn Spinnet did NOT want to let the girl see the pass. It was pretty well made, but there was a slight chance she'd be able to tell if she took a close enough look at it.
And that was a risk Zor was not willing to take.

Today was amazing, really, AMAZING. She was twelve! T W E L V E no longer was she a pleeb…not like she ever really was one, she, SHE was a Greyvson. Greyvson’s were the least plebian thing this side of the Andromeda Galaxy. Stop, don't give her that look of course OF COURSE she knows the Andromeda Galaxy Professor Doubles-as-a-Librarian explained that week one. WEEK ONE. Still, the very non-plebian girl was now very much a tween! She was very nearly thirteen...oh, joy, oh rapture!
What was next? First kisses and crushes and...and - and feelings? She didn't know, but boy, she wanted to. Seriously though could time speed up a bit? Make her a teen already?
Now if that ungrateful twit were here she would give her a giant hug and tell her she loved her…cause she did, she was family after all. Putting away her mirror the blonde nearly ran into a pillar on her way toward Quinn and that was when she saw it. Happiness and giddy…what the – was this for her? No, no this wasn’t for her…it was partially for her but Beth suspected it was mostly for the reason Quinn had run off the night before.
”did you snog someone?” she asked raising an eyebrow at her friend, ”I haven’t…so if you have you are honor bound to tell me. Now spill what’s with the face”

She'd done it again. Spent a minute working on the wand movement, and suddenly coming out of a daydream ten minutes later. Quinn blinked a few times as she made her way back into the present and then beamed, actually B E A M E D at Beth. She'd worked it all out in her head, a few times now, just exactly how she was going to tell Beth about last night. Quinn sat up to begin sharing it all with her best friend when...
Beth derailed her entire plan with a question. Oh, look, now Quinn was smiling so wide her dimples were on full display, and that was clearly a blush on her cheeks. "I...don...Does it count as snogging if it's just on the cheek? That doesn't qualify as snogging, I'm rather sure. But...I think I have a boyfriend."
Oh right! "Happy 12th, Blood twin." Quinn handed Beth the wrapped hat box, which contained no hat. Just three sets of drumsticks. A pair for when the school confiscates them. A pair for when Imogen makes her hand them over before next term starts. And the final pair no one suspects.
"I asked Reese if he liked a girl, last night while we were in the Room of Requirement. And then he told me he liked me, and I kinda panicked because I couldn't think of how to reply to that and ended up kissing him on the cheek instead. And he kissed my cheek back. And we held hands and watched a movie." It was the first time she'd ever watched a movie too, and that fact might have been a big thing, but it was positively minuscule compared to everything else last night.
Birthday celebrations. He couldn't quite say he'd attended any that weren't for family members, and then, he wasn't the one in charge of buying gifts. Add Beth being the birthday girl to that, and he was a complete wreck. Obviously he couldn't show up empty-handed, but he had no idea whatsoever what girls liked to receive. It wasn't exactly his area of expertise...
... but something else was, so he thought he could work with that.
He was rather hesitant to intrude on her moment with Quinn as soon as he'd spotted the girls, so he awkwardly hung around a few meters away, a carefully wrapped box in his hands. He was purposely holding the box to have one certain side face outwards, to conceal the holes on the back that were there for a very good reason.
The goodies he'd made the previous night were tucked safely in his backpack, but those could wait till the box in his hands was delivered.

That was not a Quinn move, that beam was megawatt. It didn’t have that look, the little edge to it that showed the girl was up to something, no. It wasn’t like her quite at all. That was why she was standing there watching, and then the question happened.
”YOU THINK YOU HAVE A BOYFRIEND?” Beth’s voice was LOUD in very non-loud way. It was almost like the girl was screaming, happily screaming of course. ”I knew it, you and Reese right?” she asked smirking – the smirk only fading at the mention of her birthday and the gift.
She knew, immediately what it was.
”DRUMSTICKS? OH MY GOSH, I LOVE YOU” she squealed as she wrapped her arms around her friend in an impromptu thank-you hug. It was then, while she was hugging her that she saw him, lingering. DANIEL WAS THERE why was that so exicting? she thought to herself her eyebrows knitting together as she practically jumped away from Quinn. She didn’t jump away, not really, instead she turned Quinn around to face him too.
”Hey Dusty y’know…it’s a good thing you’re not interested in my lovely Quinnybear” she grinned throwing yet another Quinn nickname out there. ”apparently she thinks she might have a boyfriend…did you hear? I’M 12!” she happily bounced before forcefully walking Quinn over towards him much like Octavia would have if she had been there with them…and not in the much dreaded Muggle Studies classes.

She couldn't help it, her smile grew wider at Beth's reaction. Her own happiness seemed to feed off Beth's, swelling inside her. It made it slight hard to think straight, so when Beth asked if it was Reese, Quinn simply nodded. She filled Beth in on everything that happened in the Room of Requirement. But she had heard the way Beth emphasized think, in her initial question. "Well, I mean, when never actually said it aloud, but we held hands through the movie, and I...used his shoulder as a pillow. So I'm fairly certain he's my boyfriend now. Right?"
It was a little confusing, how all this worked. Beth and Octopus were supposed to go through this first, so if she ever needed, she could ask them how it worked. Now, she was figuring it out as she went. "I'm pretty sure."
She watch as Beth opened her gift with a grin that was much more the type Beth was used to seeing on Quinn. She'd put them in a hat box for disguise purposes before wrapping. Seeing the reaction from Beth she'd been expecting, Quinn explained: "Three sets, because knowing you, you'll get one confiscated by a Professor. And Imogen will figure out you have a second pair and make you hand them over before packing for second year. And you'll still have a third pair no one expected."
And suddenly, Quinn was being stood up and turned around and for a moment she was excited, expecting Reese there. Oh, just Daniel. Well that's disappointing.
Dusty? And of course Beth would use her relationship status to tease him. Quinn rolled her eyes but otherwise didn't react and "Hey, wait..." Suddenly she was being lead to Daniel by her shoulders Octopus style. But, all her things were over here. Why couldn't he come to them?
He didn't want to listen in on what the girls were talking about, he truly didn't. That was why he'd kept his distance, to let them have their sisterly moment alone before he barged in - he didn't even look their way. But he couldn't help but stare when Beth became overly excited, and he'd looked just in time to see Quinn smile. It was... the first time he'd actually seen the Ravenclaw crack a smile? And a big one at that? He'd convinced himself that the girl was incapable of showing such emotions, but apparently she was.
... he would probably wipe that smile off her face with his appearance, though.
Then Beth spotted him. Oh, Merlin, why was he always nervous when he was about to interact with human beings?
Oh, so a boyfriend made Quinn smile like that? Interesting. "Umm-congratulations?" Well, if a guy could do that to Quinn, he would have to meet and thank him. "Happy birthday, Beth!" he grinned at the Slytherin, holding out the box for her. It might look simply packaged in the most unoriginal silver wrapping with a green bow tied neatly, but he'd spent longer than he'd like to admit on researching on how to actually wrap a present box. Inside, he hoped the small Pygmy Puff didn't get too anxious - he'd waited for the very last moment to put the creature inside, and the holes on the back of the box offered plenty of air in there. He'd gone for a light purple one, as he wasn't sure just how tolerant Beth was of overly cute things, and pink Pygmy Puffs were beyond overly cute. So a purple one would do.

He was TOTALLY Quinn’s boyfriend, poor boys that acted too slowly…though, really, Reese was the only one Beth would have truly accept for Quinn so far. He made her smile.
”mm, true…Quinny I love this thank you” she smiled so happily even though the Professor comment made her frown. Despite how true it really was, knowing her…it would be Professor Stewart – ”and we could learn to duplicate the third pair…y’know for extra backups to the backup” Beth grinned…oh, did Quinn’s face fall a bit?
Beth didn’t care. Daniel was there for her, so, here she was. ”I know right, congratulations Quinnloves,” she grinned as she looked over toward Daniel with a beamy smile. She hadn’t expected him to get her anything, but he had, and that…that. Was amazing, ”oh, thank you” she as she took the box from him and looked at it for a good moment, careful not to disturb the wrapping.
”its…so beautifully wrapped,” she practically gasped, and beamed up at him, before tugging lightly at the bow and opening it. Unfolding the paper almost methodically while looking up to steal glances at the boy in front of her…maybe, maybe just maybe his face could tell her what was in it – wait…had it moved?
She was nearly finished opening the box when she felt it wiggle, and then with a final flick the and wrapping were opened. Oh, oh…it was, alive? Her eyes were wide as she looked up at him, shock and bewilderment playing on her face. ”its…did you – wow, thank you.”
Stepping forward the little snake girl just immediately took the small purple fuzzball and placed it on her shoulder. Before taking one giant step forward and reaching her hands out placed them on Daniels shoulders, ”thank you so much Dusty, its brilliant…it’s not an it I know but d’ya know its gender?” he did right? RIGHT? She didn’t care it was probably going to a cute little name like Pancake…yep, Pancake. Still, an instant after putting her hand on his shoulder she had wrapped her arms around him in a hug…it might have been the sixteenth hug she’d doled out to him that week along…or day, who knew. ”thank you thank you thank youuuu” she squealed almost directly into his ear ”either way, I’m naming it Pancake.” she smiled before just tipping her head up and giving him a rather abrupt thank you cheek-kiss...cause thats all it was. A thank you.

Eria ran a bit behind for the party, but she was still making herself present. She'd taken the time to bother trying to wrap the presents she'd acquired for the Baby Snake. A salt shaker that was shaped like an actual heart...and she'd handpainted it to look like blood was spurting from the aorta. It seemed like a Beth thing, if she ever wanted to pull that whole Indiana Jones Kali Ma bit she had a prop now. Plus, she knew the child's obsession with sodium chloride.
Her additional present was a book entitled "100 Reasons It's Okay To Be Salty" a small sort of a joke book that her mother had written as a young writer. There were few copies in circulation, but obviously she could pull a favor.
When she'd managed to arrive, the tall brunette saw something she couldn't unsee. It was apparent that breeding season for her species had begun early...she looked away from the scene and walked over to Quinn first with a greeting nod. So, Tweetless had found and courted a mate already....and Snakelet was currently performing a courting ritual. She was pretty sure that either they'd jumped the gun and started season early, or that she'd been entirely incorrect as to mating season being in late winter/ early spring.
The lanky lady snake also now pondered if she'd innacurately assumed proper breeding age. Here she thought her sister started young! Had she just been completely off base? Were all the books she'd read on her own species entirely wrong? Perhaps the species just didn't read the book...anyways...this was a birthday thing right?
After a moment she silently handed a silver plastic wrapped gift to the younger snake. "Its not living." She said quietly and nodded to Baby Snake. Yup, that was her happy birthday.
Did she like the Pygmy Puff? Did she hate the little guy? Daehyun couldn't really tell going by her reaction, so he just watched Beth study the new creature he'd given her. He knew it'd been a risky move, as not everyone was ready to take care of a being all day long, but it had been the best idea that had crossed his mind. "Male-oh, Pancake sounds just perfect for-"
... there were hands on his shoulders.
... which soon moved to hug him. And he was somewhat used to it, so he responded to the hug by lightly wrapping his arms around her, but awkwardly so. Well, used to it wasn't the perfect term, but slowly getting there. Beth was a hugger, and if he wanted them to keep their friendship, he was going to have to get used to being hugged. But then...
DID SHE JUST-?
...
Was the sun suddenly shining brighter and burning his skin, or was it just him turning several shades of red and purple? Whatever it was, he was frozen on the spot, until he'd spotted Eria. How lovely, more people to witness his inner breakdown.
Stepping away to let Eria give her gift to Beth, he fumbled with his backpack with shaky hands to search for the box of cupcakes that he'd made the previous night for the birthday girl. He'd used icing that matched the colour of Pancake, and he'd stumbled upon rainbow coloured sprinkles. "I-I also made these. I hope you like cupcakes." She'd been enthusiastic enough about him making pancakes for her, so he guessed she had a sweet tooth. Hopefully.

Reese had been looking for both Bethlebee and his Quinnie.. He had a birthday gift and a hand made card that he'd worked on for all of two minutes, but the effort and thought was all there. He didn't know too much about what Beth liked.. Mainly, because he had always been more focused on the object of his affection.. Ooops! So, in the shirt box wrapped in Sunday Funnies from The Profit.. Reuse Renew Recycle! He had his sister Rian send him a collection of show tune sheet music.. He knew she liked to sing so.. IT made sense.
He started out into the courtyard when he heard several voices.. Two of which belonged to the two people he had searching for. Oh, Merlin... They were talking about him.. He heard his name.. This could mean only one thing... Schmebby had told Bethlebee about last night.. And the kisses on the cheeks ..
So.. Now it was all about announcing his presence... What to do?... Ah!.. Reese began to whistle the school song's tune as he approached the group with a smile.. " Hello, Everyone.. ",he said as he joined them.. And to put all questions at ease he went to stand beside his girlfriend and leant to kiss her square on the cheek in front of everyone.
He didn't care if they got odd looks.. Quinnlin Kevelle was his girlfriend and he was glad and proud for it. Then he turned to greet the group and introduce himself properly to Daniel... Who, by the way seemed a bit flustered at Beth's side.. And Beth seemed tickled with her purple pigmy puff Danny boy had given her for her birthday.. The air felt familiar.. Mhmm...
" Here ya go, Beth.. Happy 12th birthday!.. ", he said as he offered her his gift.
OH P A N C A K E S…more people had arrived more people had seen her do THAT! Beth’s eyes were wide with shock for a moment as she stood there very, very close to the cheek in question. Oh, he’d hugged her back…that was nice, still taking a step away she just grinned.
”cupcakes? F-for me…thanks, that’s really um sweet of you?” she half asked, half sputtered. This wasn’t what it looked like she tried to will that thought into everyones’ heads as she stepped back and took the cupcakes from him. That, was when Eria came up with her box.
”Thanks Eria,” she smiled and then after opening it couldn’t help but beam…Eria Lovecraft got her, she really did. ”Awww, mamma snake you’re the best. I could hug you, but I won’t” she told her as she already knew the story about what happened with that…and she wasn’t a Hufflepuff.
”Reese-cakes, you’re here…I mean undercover snakeboy” she smirked, a bit before walking closer to him and leaning in. ”y’know we’re friends right…? But, if you hurt her I’ll feed you to the grindylows” she told him with a grin. THERE, it was said. It was done. ”are those comics? I love comics, really its like a thing.” she explained as she simply reached her hand for the box. Pancake was sitting there, snugly on her shoulder when she felt it – a wet tongue thing…in her ear. ”oh – oh no…oh that is nasty pancake really,” she tutted and then looked over toward Daniel and then back to Reese. ”can either of you help – I’ve got…pygmypuff tongue in my um…ear” this was weird…so weird.

Quinn was happy to see Beth's reaction to the drumsticks, though she never once considered it would be anything other than that. Beth had been loudly telling everyone how she hadn't been allowed to bring her drumsticks all term thus far. Not that she couldn't take her drums, only she hadn't been allowed the drumsticks. And there, of course had been good reason for that. Ever since Pinata day. Quinn however couldn't care less about the reason, however valid. Beth would never use them on her.
Oh, big surprise. Beth wants even more. "Sure. I'll start practicing the geminio charm for you."
Quinn couldn't help it, she beamed bright at the congratulations given. And while Beth was busy with her boy toy, Daniel, she slipped back to gather her things. The lovebirds in denial could use a moment alone. Because they might have themselves convinced they only liked each other as friends, but Quinn knew better. She'd been same with Reese.
Quinn finished packing up her things and turned around to see Beth give Daniel a kiss on the cheek. Yes, Beth. Clearly just friends. You didn't at all get the idea for a cheek kiss from me telling you just five minutes ago. With a small smirk that was overshadowed by how much she was still beaming, she made he way back to Beth and Daniel.
She smiled with a nod in return to Eria, and was about to comment on the gift she'd brought when there he was, right next to her. She felt her pulse speed up slightly, and smiled when he kissed her cheek. Quinn didn't return the kiss however. Not yet. She was going to make him wait a bit for the return kiss. Instead she just shifted a little closer and took his hand and....
Oh. Ew. The pygmypuff had its tongue in Beth's ear. Of course, Quinn knew it was what they were like, but knowing and seeing were very different. She leaned closer to Reese. "Never get me a pygmypuff."

“Aha, I uh... She wouldn’t appreciate the comparison I’m sure but... One of my...friends? She reminds me of Tinker Bell”.
Talking quicker now, he had to fully explain so the Professor wouldn’t get the wrong end of the stick.
“It’s the part about, either being all good or all bad. No middle ground”.
Taking a deep breath now, he looked around trying to hide his blushing face, hoping that the Professor would be kind enough to forget that he didn’t mention the name of the student.
Surprise briefly took over his face as the Professor sat down next to him. This was swiftly replaced by his massive monkey smile. “My favourite character? Hmm....”. Taking a second, he briefly thought back on the various characters in the book.
“I’d have to say... Nana!”. Not the obvious choice, but he couldn’t help it. “I mean, she just defies logic! She’s a nurse and looks after the family but...she’s a dog”. His mind wandered a little now back home to his dog as he mentioned his next point, “And I think most people who have dogs who love them (Love being the key word as he knew some people did not) have this relationship with their dogs where they’re like family. I mean, my dogs helped my family a lot over the last few years so...”. Stopping now, he looked down. He didn’t want to talk the Professors ear off.
“What about you, sir? Who’s your favourite character? Or book? If you prefer”.
Gaston returned Ewan's gaze, but he couldn't help but notice the boy's cheeks go red. Goodness, he hadn't meant to embarrass him with that question! "You don't have to-" he began, but Ewan was already answering. The answer (or more to the point, the lack of one) made him chuckle a bit. "Oh, I see." He could think of several young ladies with personalities somewhat similar to Tinker Bell, but he didn't press the issue. It seemed that was destined to remain a mystery for now.
The professor's expression turned thoughtful at Ewan's next words. "So do you think there's no middle ground between good and bad?" he asked. He had his own belief on the matter, but he was curious to hear the boy's thoughts.
Gaston listened intently as Ewan explained his favorite character, his eyes widening slightly. He had to admit, that wasn't the answer he expected,
but it made sense! "That sounds a lot like my cat, Phantom," he said. He'd never really thought about it before, but now that he had, he could see the similarities between the dog nurse and a certain black and white Persian. "She helped me through the darkest time in my life..." His voice trailed off as he remembered the day his parents surprised him with that tiny kitten. Hoping to distract himself from his past, he tried to change the subject. "What kind of dogs do you have?"
The question caught him a bit off guard, and he thought for a minute. "We'd be here all day if I tried to pick a favorite book!" he said, laughing. He had so many! Oh well, he supposed that went along with being the son of a librarian. So who was his favorite Peter Pan character? When he was a kid, he would've said Peter Pan himself. He wanted to fly away to Neverland and not have to grow up, just like him. But now... "I have to say I have a soft spot for Captain Hook. He acts mean, but I think deep down, he's sad. I think that's why he hates Peter Pan so much... he reminds him of a time in his life that he can never go back to, when he was too young and innocent to know how cruel the world can be."

Reese was having a hard time not smiling.. And his face hurt for it.. Whoever said it takes more muscles to frown than to smile had obviously NEVER had a first crush turned first relationship at his age.. He was sure that he'd have the most in shape facial muscles of all Hogwartians for all the grinning he'd been doing since last night.. He was even certain he held the smile as he slept.. Ah!.. Young love..
Reese merely answered Beth's friendly warning/threat.. He had figured on hearing something to that effect when she found out about Quinnie and him being a couple now.. " Ya don't hafta worry about that, Bethie.. I'll always do what I can to show her she's cared about..", he said in a low voice.
" Oh, yeah?.. I had it lying around in my trunk so decided to use it as wrappin' paper.. " he smiled as she commented on the Funnies that he'd wrapped the box in.
He couldn't help busting up laughing as he witness Pancake tonguing Beth's ear.. And he leaned to hear Quinn and turned to give her a wink. " Are ya sure, Quinnie?.. ", he teased a bit.. " Ya could always feed it to Tobias if it offends your earlobe..", giggling.
Daehyun had been so flustered that he momentarily zoned out of the ongoing conversation, until he thought he'd heard something rather strange. But as he looked up, his eyes widened at the sight that confirmed that his hearing was still as good as ever. Beth had-did Pancake just-
"Oh no no no, no Pancake, don't do that," he muttered gently to the pygmy puff as he scurried over to Beth, carefully taking the ball of fluff off her shoulder, and the creature's tongue away from her ear. "Beth can clean her ears herself, yeah?"
Holding out the pygmy puff for Beth to take again if she still wanted the small creature, he couldn't really meet her eyes. "I'll-err-I'm getting you more drumsticks next year."
