Default Ravenclaw Table

For those who belong in Ravenclaw House, in the middle of the Great Hall is where your table awaits. Blue banners containing an embroidered bronze eagle float above the polished table in honour of the wise Rowena Ravenclaw. Already placed on the tables are silver plates with accompanying cutlery and goblets. All that is missing right now are the mountains of food and pitchers containing your favourite beverages.

Though your stomach might be growing as you take a seat on one of the long benches next to the table, it is important to not get hangry -- gnawing your arm away or jabbing your fork repeatedly on the surface of the table will do no good whatsoever. Give everyone some time to get settled in and wait for Headmistress Hawthorne to deliver her speech. Keep yourself preoccupied by catching up with your fellow housemates or those who are visiting from the other tables until it is time to sink your teeth into the hearty and delicious meal prepared by the house-elves.

SPOILER!!: Nettie

She frowned a bit and wrinkled her blonde eyebrows at the girl. She knew Ravenclaws were supposed to be all SMART and everything but that was a bit much, wasn't it? Still, she smiled and scooted a bit closer to the girl.

"Hey there! I'm Nettie! I'm a first year too," she introduced herself to the girl.

OH EM GEEEEE.

An older boy was talking to her. A GORGEOUS older boy. HEART EYES. Trinetta stared for just a moment before she registered the words that he was actually saying - he was talking about Quidditch. OH! He was the Quidditch captain! How perfect! If she got on the team, she could stare at this pretty face alllllllll day. Wow. His hair was perfect. HOW did all these Hogwarts boys have such perfect HAIR? First the Hufflepuff boy, now him?

"Nice to meet you Kirk! That's great that you're the Quidditch captain - I'm planning on trying out,"
she told the older boy with a grin. "I played back in a youth league in France!" so, hopefully, she would have a leg up on all the other kids who wouldn't have as much experience.

She MAY have been batting her eyelashes at the handsome boy as she spoke. Just a bit. She didn't want to be too obvious so she didn't go overboard.

"Oh, the boats. Yeah, it was ok," she admitted with a shrug, pausing to take a sip of her pumpkin juice. "I almost fell in the lake," she told him nonchalantly. Stupid ballet flats having ZERO traction on a wet dock. Thankfully, she HADN'T fallen in and all had ended up ok.

And now another older student was here, distracting her from the pretty Quidditch captain for just a moment. She was a prefect? Blink blink. That meant nothing to Nettie. "What's a prefect?" she asked. She wasn't sure if they had those in Beauxbatons - if they did, she had no clue what the French word for it was, so she didn't know what it was exactly. It sort of sounded familiar...

Whatever it was, she figured it was another important person. In fact, this girl had a badge on her robes, so she had to be someone special. Noted.

ANNND yet another new first year! Nettie couldn't help but grin as more and more of her fellow first years got sorted in to her house. That surely meant Ravenclaw was going to be AMAZING. She hadn't cared much about houses a few moments ago - but now she was looking forward to house competition stuff.

"Hi Chloe! I'm Trinetta, but I go by Nettie," she introduced herself to the newcomer. She seemed shy. What a shame. Nettie couldn't relate in the slightest.

This boy seemed to be around her age, but she hadn't seen him get sorted - so he must have actually been older. He too seemed kind of quiet. So, naturally, Nettie needed to break the silence. She smiled at him and introduced herself.

"Hi! I'm Nettie, I'm a first year!" she piped up. At this rate, it might be faster if she just stood on the table and announced it to the world.

AND queue another first year! Nettie smiled at the newcomer, waving at him from her spot across the table. "Hi there! I'm Nettie!" she called out to him.

Suddenly a loud BANG distracted Nettie, and she turned to see an older boy hitting his head against the table and moaning about something. At first she was a bit concerned...but then she realized he was probably waiting for the food. She giggled a bit as she watched him be overly dramatic.

"Are you hungry or something?" she teased the older boy. She herself was also DYINGGGG of hunger, but she was having a great time talking to her new housemates. Hopefully the food would be served soon, as the boy had no reminded her just how hungry she actually was....

One of the firsties was there smiling at him making him smile in return. It was only fair to do so to not be rude. Nettie…okay. “I’m Septimus,” he said, returning the introduction and awaiting one of the various responses he often got for his name. It was a mouthful, he was well aware, and not exactly one for the books. “I’m a second year.”

SPOILER!!: Chloe and Ewan

"My daddy was a prefect for Ravenclaw when he was here." She was very proud to tell everyone that, though it made her feel nervous about following in his footsteps.

Her eyes fell on an older boy and she grinned, she knew him. "Septimus hi" Her mom and his mom knew each other and she had seen him around a few times. Giving the boy a wave she heard someone else talk to her and she smiled at a girl that had been sorted just before her, "Hello Nettie, I'm Chloe, people just call me Chloe." She laughed feeling better and less nervous now that people were talking to her. "Is this the house you thought you would be sorted into?" Did others feel the way she did?

A whining boy ( Dorian) caught her attention and she looked at him curiously, "Are you alright?" Did he need a healer already?

He took a deep breath before he continued "I mean, If I was in my Dad's house, I might not be here. I'm so happy to be in Ravenclaw though. A little confused but Happy". In all honesty, he wasn't sure how he had managed to end up in the house that was considered, the smart house, was it? "Anyway, I'm sure your Dad will be super proud when you tell him!. He was happy for her. I mean, if his Dad was in a house, he'd want to be in that one too. Sitting back slightly now, he watched her interaction with the older boy, Septimus. She seemed to know him. Not wanting to be rude and interrupt, he turned towards the rest of the students.

He greeted them one by one now, after all, being rude to an older student wasn't something he wanted to do on his first day. At least not right away. With a mischievous grin, he turned.
"Hey Nettie, I'm Ewan, It's a pleasure to meet you, Are you a first year too? ". He asked, unsure because of the way she reacted to the older Ravenclaw, Kirk was it? The Quidditch Captain? Really? Okay, this guy is pretty cool. He couldn't blame her now. He hadn't actually seen a game of Quidditch but he loved sport! Any sport really. He had to make the team! Maybe not this year but eventually! Maybe Kirk could... help me? Nah, he won't want to. Fighting internally, unsure of if he should introduce himself to the older boy. He turned.

As he turned, he to introduce himself to the next student, he froze. Ugh.. This oneIn all fairness, Quinn hadn't done anything to deserve this reaction from him but, maybe that was why. She hadn't done anything. On the train, she had just sat she and mumbled something. Okay, Okay... Lets just start again he thought. Mustering his best, friendliest smile, he introduced himself. "Hey Quinn, I'm Ewan. What book have you got there?" That was an innocent question, right?

Briefly, Ewan acknowledged the older boy, with his head against the table. Is he...Okay Maybe I should uh... offer to help him? Or uh.. Get a teacher?. He turned now, ready to introduce himself to the next student, keeping an eye on the older boy.

"Hey Juni! I'm Ewan". Everyone in Ravenclaw was so friendly, well, mostly. With a sly glance at Quinn and the older boy, he continued, "I don't suppose you know how long until the food arrives? I'm starving!! and also as if on cue, a grumble could be heard, reverberating deep from inside him, as though something was trying to escape. "Sorry" he guffawed. Only he could make a fool of himself within the first 10 minutes of sitting down.

The Ravenclaw boy heard his name coming from the opposite direction only to spot a somewhat familiar face who had apparently noticed him first. Septimus waved, thinking back to times their mothers, and thus they, had interacted over the years. “Um…hi…Chloe,” he greeted her as he remembered the younger girl’s name. Another newly sorted member of the house was talking to her…and looking at him so Septimus decided to take the first step this time. “Hi…I’m Septimus.”

SPOILER!!: Jessa

Thing was....as a student leader she was MEANT to be welcoming and ensure--for as much as she could-- that everyone was feeling like they belonged. That wasn't nearly the same as inserting yourself where you weren't wanted and sometimes that posed a conflict of interest.

Take right now for example. Did she keep talking to her, or leave her be to enjoy her book? The speech would be starting soon then it would be time for eating. With the way the rest of the night was likely to go, the young girl was already on borrowed time.

While she thought it over, she waved to young Septimus who took a spot at the table and greeted them before turning her attention to two other First Years--one she remembered from the shop in Diagon Alley (Ewan) and another she didn't (Chloe). "Welcome to Ravenclaw! I think you'll both love it here."

Dorian was the next to catch her attention as he came to the table. Understandably he seemed in a hurry for this night to be over with. He too got a small wave of greeting and a sympathetic look from where she sat on the other end.

And wasn't that an interesting question. Jessa's gaze fell to Nettie again. How did she really explain this? "Prefects are.....basically incharge of the house when the Professors aren't around and they help the Professors be in charge when they are. We help our housemates--and school mates I suppose--whenever there's a problem so if you need anything feel free to come get me." Seemed accurate enough. "Like...support and discipline rolled into one."

The Sixth Year found herself nodding along in agreement. Juni was right, it WAS good to have something to do. "Maybe pacing yourself might help? Or getting things a little more organized. Not sleeping works too if you've got too many things to do and not enough hours in the day to get them done. I tried that last term, it worked out pretty good. Got myself nicely caught up then everything felt less overwhelming." Of course, she was also aware that not everyone opted to remove necessary bodily functions as needed in order to get through everything that needed doing but if you could then why not? "Summer was decent. No real complaints. Yours?"

Oh? There were suddenly arms around her. Jessa twisted slightly, trying to get a better look at whoever it might've been. Chloe. Good egg that one was, for the most part. Not ever having to scrape her off the Common Room floor (or ceiling) was a pretty clear indicator of that. "I did have a good summer, I think." She said, a small nod coming in shortly after. Had it been good? She supposed it had, given the circumstances. "No diary needed, I could fit you in with most anything else I'm doing. 'Sides, I've always got time for questions. How does after all the ruckus of the new term ends sound to you?" I.e tomorrow when she was no longer trying not to lose anyone on the walk up. "How was your summer?"

Peter Pan, was it? Curious. "D'you prefer muggle fiction?" Despite her resolve to not bother the younger girl (Quinn), Jessa found it an interesting choice to be engrossed in. Surely by this age it couldn't have been her first read through of it. New school, all the magic of new encounters and literal magic and the permission to use it now without regulation...to an extent as opposed to only having family do it for you. The many possibilities and yet...the thing that held her attention was a muggle children's story. Naturally, this left the question of why? Very curious indeed.

Oh hey…he was getting a wave from Miss Prefect. That was an accomplishment he supposed. Meant she remembered him, even a little, and not mistaken for a total newbie. Septimus waved back to acknowledge the greeting but kept to himself as she obviously had duties in greeting all the new eagles much like she had him the previous term.

Ooooo speech and feast...the evening...and the school term...had begun.

"I did, well, except for a small scare with a chocolate frog," she explained. She still wasn't convinced that English candy was better than the French ones.
So many people talking and asking her questions at once was pulling Quinn's attention in a multitude of directions. She was neither accustomed or very skilled at having so many people around her and chatting with her at once, but Nettie's response pulled her back to her fellow first year Ravenclaw, all attention fully on Nettie once more.

"How do you get a scare from a chocolate frog?" It was a pressing question. She was both curious and confused, and the combination of those two states required an explanation. Chocolate frogs were simply that. Chocolate. Enchanted chocolate, but still just chocolate. What was so scary about that?
