| | Laundry Room Ever wonder where your dirty underpants wind up? Just down the corridor, not terribly far from the kitchen, the door to the laundry room can be found. What you will find in this room will, likely, not be a surprise. Within are no Muggle washing machines or dryers. Instead, front and centre, are large tubs with accompanying wash boards and sticks. A bizarre system of clothes lines fill the back of the room, beside which tables and large hampers await.
If you happen to wind up here on your House's laundry day, you will see your clothes -- hopefully labelled -- and the clothes of your fellow housemates being washed and dried by a team of house-elves. It is not uncommon to hear them bickering with each other or joining together in a motivational song to help make the job get completed quicker. First the clothes are scrubbed squeaky clean with soap and steaming hot water. They are next hung to dry and then neatly stacked on one of the large tables to be folded and placed back in the hamper to be returned to their owners.
Students are always welcome to be proactive and do their own laundry or at least lend the house-elves a hand. There sure is a lot of laundry to do!

Her favorite part was stirring the hot, soapy water with her whisk. The steam and bubbles tickled her nose and her whisk made a fun swishy sound. "Miss Lydia warmer now, yes? Tinka like warm." Lydia followed the sweet little house elf through the dark corridor. Suddenly they were emerging from behind a cart full of bed clothes. The smell of laundry soap and drying clothes filled the room. It was a lovely smell that reminded Lydia of home and her mum humming songs to herself as she did the wash.
" Oh this is nice, Tinka," said Lydia. By now she was not surprised to note that there were no modern washing machines or dryers. Instead there were large tubs full to the brim with hot water and soap. Lydia began to understand why Tinka liked her whisk so much. She must use it in the laundry!
The laundry room was definitely one of the warmer rooms in the castle, especially down here in the lower corridors where it was always so drafty. Lydia enjoyed the coziness of it all. She stepped up to a tub full of soapy clothes.
" Do you have an extra whisk, Tinka?" she asked. " I want to give it a try!"

"Do you have an extra whisk, Tinka?" she asked. "I want to give it a try!" Tinka waited for Miss Lydia to emerge from the secret tunnel before gently scooching the cart back in front of the opening. She didn’t want any wandering students to stumble upon it without knowledge of where it went. “Yes, Miss Lydia, Tinka likies laundry room too.” She had always preferred warm places over the cold, damp dungeon corridors. She felt as if the cold made her ears droop.
A whisk! Yes, that is what Miss Lydia needed, but she didn’t have an extra whisk, and there was no way she was going to give hers up. “Miss Lydia use laundry paddle.” She pointed to one of the many long wooden paddles, that resembled boat oars, but were used to stir the laundry. “Miss Lydia not need to helpsies, but she is welcome to play with bubblies.” That was one of her favorite parts of doing the laundry too. Bubbles!! She used her whisk to scoop up some bubbles and blew gently on them, sending them floating around the room.

Lydia grabbed one of the laundry paddles that Tinka had pointed out. Then she stepped up to one of the large tubs. She stuck the paddle down in the hot, soapy water and began to stir up the clothes. She let out an involuntary giggle. This was actually pretty fun. She wondered if this was how muggles used to wash their clothes too before electricity and washing machines were invented.
Lydia watched Tinka play with the bubbles. The house elf was just too cute. She almost couldn't stand it. Lydia scooped up some big bubbles with her paddle and then she blew them off into the air.
"Tinka, how long have you worked at Hogwarts?" she asked, her curiosity getting the better of her. "Did you always want to work here?"

Tinka watched the young Slytherin play with the soap bubbles and hoped she was enjoying herself. Next to the kitchens and making all of the wonderful foods, the laundry room was her favorite place to be. "Tinka be here long time. Tinka lovesies Hogwarts and lovesies studentsies. Tinka not want leave ever." All of her memories were of Hogwarts, so she wasn't sure how long she had been at the castle. Time passed differently for House Elves. She couldn't remember a time when she wasn't at Hogwarts. "Miss Lydia want stay here and play or continue tour?" Tinka was perfectly happy either way. She did know of a few other secrets she was willing to tell the young girl.

For all she knew, Tinka could be hundreds of years old! That was interesting to think about.
" I'm glad you like Hogwarts," said Lydia. She hoped all the house elves were as happy as Tinka. " Let's continue the tour! I'm excited to see what comes next."
Lydia removed her paddle from the water and hung it back up carefully with all the extra ones.

Lydia removed her paddle from the water and hung it back up carefully with all the extra ones. Tinka stepped away from the laundry tubs and gave a little nod to Lydia. "Tinka show Miss Lydia more Hogwarts." She reached down to grab the shoelace tied around her waist, untied it, then threaded the end though the handle of her whisk. When she was satisfied her whisk would be safe around her waist, she pointed towards the back corner of the laundry room. "Miss Lydia follow Tinka now. Tinka show Miss Lydia more."
She quickly walked towards what looked like a simple cupboard in the far left corner, opened the door, and vanished.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Toddles | No laundry, no laundry *dances*
Toddles was a happy elfsie. He couldn’t remember the last time he swept a corridor or helped with a meal. It was all fun fun fun now that the grumpy Algamus was no longer grumpy. This plan should have happened forever ago. If the elf knew it would go so well, he would not have waited this long.
The house elf danced about the piles of laundry, already sorted and waiting to be done. He wouldn’t do them, nope nope nope, some of the other elfsies who hadn’t learned to enjoy what good fortune he had brought them would be in shortly to clean. Toddles was here to kick the dirty robes and socks and scarves and ties all about the place and make a bigger mess.
Afterall, who was going to stop him?

Tinka popped back into the laundry room to finish a bit more before baking treats for the studentsies. Upon entering, she froze in her tracks, unable to speak at the horror before her. Her eyes widened and her hands instinctively reached for her whisk.
After a few moments, she was able to regain her composure and shouted "No, no, no! Toddles stop makies messes." Her hands shook with anger as she saw the piles of laundry being danced upon and tossed about. "Toddles stop now. Toddles need get back to work." Her little heart pounded and her eyes quickly made a sweep of the room, hoping to see another house elf to back her up.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Toddles | ”Toddles not need to get back to work.” The elf bragged, still kicking the sheets and robes about in such carefree manner that it would honestly aggravate anyone. “Algamus not gonna make Toddles and other elfsies can’t make Toddles anymore.” The feeling was just liberating enough to set the teenage self on cloud nine.
Moving forward, he took Tinka by both hands and tried getting her to bounce around too. “Tinka should be happy! Toddlers fixed all the elfsies problems!”
He was a HERO!

| *HICCUP!*
Pips peeked around the corner watching Toddles and Tinka discuss the greatest Algamus. *Hiccup* Pips looked at both of them as he heard Toddles say he fixed their problems.
*hiccup* "What problemsies?" Pips whispered under his breath.

She watched, wide eyed, as the young house elf continued to make a mess of the laundry. "NO, NO, NO. Toddles stop make messes. Toddles down now and cleanies up." She shook her whisk at him, using every bit of control in her body to not run over and bop him on the head. "Toddles not fixes problems. Toddles make more workies." Her head whipped around at the sound of Pips. "Toddles not workies. Toddles make big messes and not cleansies." She used her whisk to point at the laundry "Pips help Tinka get Toddles work?" |

Toddles couldn’t believe his oversized ears. What did she MEAN he hadn’t helped the problem? Now Elfsies didn’t have to clean. They didn’t have to cook. They didn’t have to work. Toddles was a hero and Tinka wasn’t understanding. Toddles was big help! Toddles the reason things so good now and Tinka need to stop trying to tell Toddles what to do.”
To get his point across, Toddles picked up another pile and tossed it about I’m the air. ”Toddles make Algamus nice so elfsies get a break. It wasn't easy but Toddles was clever, he was.”
SO THERE!

Hogwarts RPG Name: Tinka the house elf | "Toddles not change Algamus. Toddles should be working not making messies. Toddles need stop!" She could not believe her ears. She was worried the young elf was completely out of his mind, and completely out of control. Toddles had to be stopped. The behavior was simply unacceptable and she was going to put an end to it.
*POP* She was gone.
*POP* She returned, only moments later, hoping the wild Toddles hadn't noticed her absence. Back-up would hopefully be arriving very soon. Next on her list was to find Algamus and figure out what was going on.

Toddles scoffed LOUDLY. It was like Tinka wasn’t listening to a word he’d said and hadn’t noticed how much better off everyone had been lately. What did she mean he didn’t change Algamus? Did Tinka think the grumpy old elf had suddenly decided to be nice on his own?
Ungrateful.
Toddles went about his kicking and parading about but obviously noticed her disappearance and reappearance. They had been having a conversation. For her to suddenly not be there was abound to grab his attention.
The little elf watched her curiously when she returned, wondering the point in leaving just to come back but Toddles was determined to have fun and thus determined not to care.
More kicking the dirty pile about.
