Default Gobbledegook Field Trip

After walking into the heatless, emerald green fire, you notice hundreds of other fireplaces and hearths zooming past. Your brain is unable to clearly register the locations as you zoom past them at great speed. Your body feels as if it is spinning very fast, and a deafening roar fills your ears. Suddenly the spinning and roaring comes to an end. After whipping off some soot that got on your pants and allowing your eyes to adjust as you step out into the lobby of Gringotts Wizarding Bank, you realize that pairs of beady goblin eyes are staring at you.

After a moment of silence, a number of those goblins start stepping forward. One of them awaits for the arrival of your headmistress, clearly wanting to say something to her in the goblin's raspy tongue. The others, however, approach you and your classmates, holding out black drawstring bags with the Gringotts emblem on it in gold -- inside each are various pamphlets about the bank and sound financing, a brochure for the tour you will be going on today, and a free "I toured Gringotts!" button.

OOC: Welcome to the Gobbledegook field trip! At the present time, everyone is taking their self-led tour of the Goblin Mint.

Text Cut: Goblin Mint Tour Brochure
THE MEZZANINE

Start your tour of the Gringotts Goblin Mint in the Mezzanine. Displayed on the walls are seven glass mosaics that were originally commissioned to celebrate the opening of the bank in 1474. The celebrated goblin Gringott is prominent in each of these mosaics, some featuring him at the entrance of the bank, at one of the tellers booths, counting coins in his office, riding one of the carts, and even feeding the original dragon kept in the depths of the bank.

While this room may not be as exciting as what is to come, take a moment to step back in time. A detailed history of the bank can be learned through numerous portraits and exhibits that have been strategically placed around the room in a maze-like fashion. Learn more about Gringott, how the bank and the mint itself grew, and other facts about the bank that you may never have heard of before. A few goblins are standing by if there are any questions or further clarifications need to be made.

Before moving on to the next room, be sure to visit the Collector's Corner. Here you can marvel at some of the most beautiful coins created here at the Gringotts Goblin Mint and see how Galleons, Sickles, and Knuts have changed over the centuries in addition to special issue coins.

THE GALLERY

Down a flight of stairs is the Gallery, which has been divided into seven different areas to help you better understand the coin and medal making -- or minting -- process. Each area is accompanied with portraits of different Gringotts goblins completing the specific task being described.
  • ART: The coins you use every day are little pieces of history in your pocket, and they are also tiny works of art, carefully designed and sculpted by Gringotts' finest goblin artists and coin design committees. It is intricate work -- but well worth the effort!

  • DIE MAKING: The die shop is where the tools that cut, squeeze, and shape the coins to perfection are made. Thousands of dies are created each year with painstaking precision. Each die is exactly alike, and they are used to strike millions of coins. Making perfect dies can be a complex process, but it is necessary as every coin must be perfect. Every Gringotts goblin has pride in producing only the best quality coins for the entire wizarding world.

  • BLANKING: In this department, round blanks are punched out of metal strips using extreme force. The metals used by Gringotts to create coins are fed through a blanking press, which is like a giant cookie-cutter, and punches out round, plain-surfaced disks called blanks. The leftover strip, called webbing, is chopped and recycled.

  • ANNEALING & UPSETTING: This is where the blanks are prepared for striking. The blanks are heated in an annealing furnace to soften the metal of the blank. They are then poured through a huge washer and dryer. Finally, the shiny blanks are rolled through an upsetting mill that raises a smooth, hard edge around each blank, creating a rim that helps with the striking process. After this process, the blank is called a planchet.

  • STRIKING: Two dies -- obverse and reverse, or heads and tails -- are placed onto the coining press. The planchets travel to the presses on a conveyor. With one mighty strike, the designs from the steel dies are transferred to the planchet creating a genuine Gringotts-made coin.

  • INSPECTING: This is where every coin must be in "mint condition." After striking, press operators use magnifying glasses to spot-check each new coin to be sure that the mint's strict quality standards have been met. If a flaw is spotted, all of the coins in the trap are scrapped and sent to a coin destruction machine, called a waffler, to be recycled.

  • BAGGING: After the coins have been inspected, they travel to a counting station. All coins are counted and poured into giant bulk bags. The filled bags are weighed, sealed shut, and loaded onto a pallet that is taken to the mint's vaults. The finished coins then begin their journey to the bank's reserve and into your pocket!
At the end of the Gallery, a heavy iron-wrought door awaits that only Gringotts goblins can open. Fortunately, a goblin stands guard of this door and will allow you to pass by on your tour today.

THE MINT

After descending down what had to have been hundreds of stairs, you will realize that the temperature has gotten drastically hotter. This isn't because you have worked up a sweat -- rather, you have just arrived outside the Gringotts Goblin Mint. Before you stands a door, on which the following sign is displayed in both Gobbledegook and English:

Pboxeew digs xaugiom. Mimgimt im kbotbehh.
Proceed with caution. Minting in progress.

Making your way through the threshold, you will see numerous goblins hard at work. With your very own eyes, you can view how a Galleon, Sickle, or Knut is made. The blanking, annealing, upsetting, striking, inspecting, and bagging processes all occur inside this large room. The first thing you will see is the large blanking press, and the last thing seen will be bags of coins being promptly whisked away.

Please keep your hands at your sides during this part of the tour. Gringotts will not be held responsible for any accidents should you not follow this simple request.

You are allowed to speak with the goblins present here, but keep your conversation brief as they have very important work to do.

THE GIFT SHOP

Once you reach the end of your tour of the mint, you will come across another door and be directed to yet another set of stairs. Though there are just as many as it took to get down to the mint, the cool change in temperature makes the ascent bearable. Soon background music will begin to fill your ears and you will eventually find yourself in the Gift Shop.

Located around the corner from the bank's main lobby, the Gift Shop offers coin sets, commemorative coins, numismatic collectibles, books, games, and mint souvenirs. If you wish to make a purchase, take your desired items up to the goblin at the service counter.
If you wish for your character to say anything in Gobbledegook throughout this field trip, simply translate what they would say in English to Gobbledegook using the Modified Reverse setting on this website. Please make sure to leave an OOC translating what they said in English or somehow incorporate the translation in the body of your post.

Here you are allowed to post your primary Hogwarts character (the one in your post-bit) and one other student of your choosing! ^____^

He turned slightly to his fellow Ravenclaw and spoke quietly.

"I wonder if there'll be a chance to slip away. Perhaps if we're fast through the touring..." Probably the younger kids would linger, wouldn't they?
Jessa didn’t know a word of gobbledegook, nor did she care to. Languages, while fascinating and to a degree important for spell work, did not hold her interest enough for her to learn it. Her reason for signing up for the trip was simple; it was an excuse to be out of the castle—couldn’t really turn that down.

Passively, Jessa watched to goblins. With equal passivity she watched her fellow schoolmates begin to disperse for the tour, her eyes occasionally drifting over to the mosaics or the goblins with their piercing stares. The faint voice by her ear brought blue eyes back to her present company. “Now there’s an idea.” She muttered, instinctively surveying the room again.

Gringotts was neat, she supposed, but she’d been visiting the bank with her father for years and had no real interest in it. The fact just about everyone was running around speaking a language she didn’t particularly care for cemented her agreement with him.

“Let’s leave this room for last. Start at the other end. By the time we get here everyone will likely be far into the bank.” That’d be the perfect time to slip away. “Wanna check the mint?”

OOC: Emqoyimt gse goub? = Enjoing the tour?
There was a goblin nearby. Valko looked down (by necessity, given his height) at her, quite aware that she was sizing them all up. He didn't blame her, or any of them. Goblins put up with a lot from wizardkind... but by the same token, they profited a lot too.

"Tsamph. ig ih a toow yetimmimt. I inatime I diff ye nobe inkbehhew dsem I hee gse nimg rob nyhefr. Ir you diff kabwom uh, de abe seawimt gsag day mod."
Valko said smoothly.

ooc: Thanks. it is a good beginning. I imagine I will be more impressed when I see the mint for myself. If you will pardon us, we are heading that way now.

Having addressed the goblin, Valko turned to Jessa when she spoke and gave her a little hint of a smile and a nod.

"You might surprise yourself and find the mint more interesting than you expect it to be." If he was honest he did have a few questions that were beginning to percolate. But it was nothing he couldn't research himself, and just from his cursory glance around at the different panels, the statistic-related information was what he was more interested in, rather than the processes, which he'd already familiarized himself with.

He did think her idea was a good one though. Start at the other end. And skip the gift shop.

There was something to be said about Valko Petrov’s smile. It was hard to explain but even when only the faintest hints of it graced his lips, it was still such a capitivating thing. It brought on a smile of her own before she turned to the door that led from the room.

Jessa began in that direction, naturally expecting he’d be coming too. “I’m sure I’ll find at least some of it interesting in spite of myself.” She conceded easily. Her mind was it’s own machine. She didn’t always have a say in the things that fascinated her and her brain had a habit of latching on to even the smallest things. “Where exactly do they keep the dragon?” And while she was asking questions, Jessa spared a glance back at the goblin V had been speaking with before tilting her head to look up at him. “What did you say just now?” A milder form of her usual curiosity etched into her voice.

The fact the Headmistress was on the trip stressed to the Ravenclaw that she was most definitely off duty herself.

This was like that Dufftown trip and if this one turned out as badly, well, the Leaky Cauldron was just up the street. She knew how to use the floo network. The bookshop was in equal proximity. There was an ice-cream shop and if she wanted to create exceptional distance between herself and whatever chaos typically seemed to follow them, then she would venture out into Muggle London with Valko.

Anything to not deal.

At Hogwarts, there just always seemed to be SOMETHING that needed dealing with and the 6th Year wasn’t in the least bit interested.

"Wsag dah gsag you haiw, yoy?" his old, harsh voice sounded.

OOC: Wsag dah gsag you haiw, yoy? = What was that you said, boy?
Ronan was about to head to the Gallery, when one of the goblins asked him a question. Could they read minds? He was pretty sure they couldn't when it took wizards years to master Legilimency. So, he was pretty sure his thoughts about blowing up the bank were safe. "Excuse me?" He'd almost responded in French, just to mess with the goblin, but thought better of it. Also, it was good that he couldn't understand Gobbledegook since he would take exception to being called a boy.

Though, he had enough context clues to figure out what was going on. The goblin had heard him speaking under his breath. "Oh, I was just commenting on how beautiful these paintings were." And with that, he moved on, quickly moving to the Gallery....

....which he quickly moved through, seeing as the paintings here were just a visual representation of what was happening in the mint.

Bathes in Maple Syrup | Dancing Lobster | Mrs. Charlie Weasley | Seneca's Beard | That's So Fetch

Robyn was only a few steps behind the Hufflepuff when she overheard the girl asking if she could pass by and the goblin, quite literally, did nothing. Oooooh! The drama! She could feel it coming. The Slytherin always knew those goblins thought they were so high and mighty. Watching the situation taking place before her, she wondered how long the standstill would last. Maybe she could write something and make quite a juicy story out out of it.

But then the goblin moved and opened the door. Damn. That wasn't nearly long enough to start up some drama. Maybe that goblin was going deaf? Blind? Maybe the goblin was waiting for them to start something?

Either way, she wasn't going to stick around now that the door was open. She whizzed right by, giving the goblin an awkward smile, and started down the stairs. She didn't even read the sign that was posted outside the door. She just went right in and started looking around.

Regina took her sweet old time looking at the different artefacts in the room. Deep down she was secretly hoping something from one of her finds was showcased, but she figured that those would be elsewhere in the bank considering everything here was focused on the bank's founding and coins. Speaking of coins, she was now looking at the coin display.

"Coming along, Miss Kemp?" the woman asked after having a good look at them. Yes, she noticed that the girl had been trailing along after her since the start of the tour.

She descended down the stairs into the Gallery, planning on not staying there long as she was sure the Gallery was only going to depict what they would be seeing down in the actual Mint. A little preview was nice and all, but the woman would rather experience seeing the goblins at work herself.

Oh, erm...oops?

Maddie knew she was blushing, but she tried to smile widely to hide that little fact. "Of course I'm coming along!" she said, leaving the coin collection behind. "I wouldn't want my headmistress to get into any trouble. Better stay close by in case she needs me!" Grin. She would buy that, wouldn't she? Maddie laughed lightly. She knew Miss Smarty Pants Head Honcho wouldn't buy it, but it was fun to try anyway.

The Hufflepuff headed down the stairs and into the gallery. She peered at the art work on display. You know, she'd never thought about it before, but coins were pretty cool pieces of art. She should know. She tried to draw one once, and things didn't turn out so well.

Rhibear ~ Madam Solo ~ Dark Brooding Girl ~ Accio Jedi ~ Gryffinclaw ~ Just a doll

Okay, so the first room was a bit of a letdown, but Georg still had high hopes for the tour. He was determined to find the dragon those two goblins were talking about earlier! Was it in the next room?

As he was leaving the mezzanine, he heard one of the goblins (Nadlok) say something. Finally, a friendly goblin! Or, at least friendly compared to the others. Georg smiled at her, going over the translation in his mind. He was pretty sure she asked if they were enjoying the tour. "Yak, ko'ok. Tromdk kur okdems!" he replied, hoping he wasn't messing up the translation or the pronunciation too horribly.

Bright green eyes peered around the gallery, and Georg's face fell slightly. No dragon in here either, just a lot of portraits. This tour was starting to remind him of that boring art exhibit Aunt Kati dragged him to over the summer!
He glanced at the portraits on the walls. Well, the tools the goblins used looked sort of interesting, he supposed. And the machine that punched out the coins was pretty neat! He hoped he'd get to see that in action!

The blond boy moved toward the door leading to the mint, and... wait, had that goblin (Gruzug) just been sleeping? Either he was really tired or this tour had bored him to sleep! Georg could relate if that was the case! He nodded politely in the goblin's direction as he passed. "Tromd aeui."

OOC: Yak, ko'ok. Tromdk kur okdems! = Yes, ma'am. Thanks for asking!

Tromd aeui. = Thank you.

After waiting a respectable amount of time for the goblin to tell her if she wasn't allowed to pass, she decided it must be fine continue along with the tour.

Finally out of the mint, she started up the many many stairs. Her legs were burning, but the cooling air was helping to keep her going. It had been far too warm in the mint for her enjoyment. In fact, it had made her stomach feel a bit off. So, the cooler air she was heading into was a nice change.

Up and up she kept going, wondering if she'd gone down the same number of steps or if she would be exiting on a higher level than she had started from in the Gallery.

After one last group of stairs, she finally emerged and found herself near the gift shop. The gift shop was something she could get a bit more excited about. It was a nice cool temperature inside and it had more of a welcoming feel than the rest of the building. Probably to entice the customers to make a purchase, but it was nice either way.

She wandered around the gift shop, waiting for the others to finish the tour, and glanced at all of the trinkets. There were coins, books, and even games to purchase. Too bad she didn't find any snacks. Her stomach was no longer in toil from the heat and smell of the mint. It now wanted food from the thousands of stairs she just took.

Felnott eyed with the wandwavers passing through his precious mint. He glanced around at his fellow goblins looking to see if they felt as disgusted as he felt. The wandwaver children were invited to his place of work with his kind and invited to speak his language. Did they not have enough privilege already? Now they were skulking about treating them like oddities at one of their zoos.

The goblins were not even be allowed to set foot in Hogwarts!

Did they not realize that goblins also had magic? It was high time that they be recognized as at least equal. What was a better way to get that message across to the wandwavers than by using the money they use and the children they have.

He hurried up the stairs a minute or two after the most recent girl (Birchwoodmom) left the area.

Once there, he pointed a long accusing finger. "Gsier!!!" he shouted. "Gsier! Gsier!"

As she stood in the gift shop, she heard quick footsteps come up behind her and a goblin yelling at her and pointing. She stood absolutely still, wondering what in the world he was upset about. She had been very careful to not knock anything over or to get too close to any of the goblins trying to work.

"Excuse me, sir?" She asked in the most polite tone possible "Did I do something to upset you?" She hoped the goblin spoke English because she certainly didn't know any Gobbledgook. She frantically looked around, hoping to see the Headmistress or one of the older students to help translate.

Unsure of what to do next, she simply stood there and waited for the goblin to explain or for help to come.

Well, Valko knew Jessa always did. Find something interesting, that was. Even if there was nothing particular in the area to catch her eye, Valko was well aware that Jessa's brain could well entertain itself. And his for that matter. "I think the dragon.... if there's only one, of that I'm not sure, and the sphinxes and whatever else they have captured here, are down deep in the vaults." Pretty sure. He'd not had to deal with them himself. The Petrovs had a vault here but it wasn't one of the deep ones, since most of their money was kept elsewhere and what was stowed away at Gringotts was intended to be for convenience and hours of underground cavern travel through trapped and bewitched mine shafts tended to slow one down when one was in a hurry.

"I thanked her and said I was sure I'd be more impressed once I actually see it, instead of just the pictures in the gallery." Valko paraphrased, glancing back towards the goblin. But for now it was on to more interesting things.

The pair of them only spent ten or so minutes through the mint, neither of them needing to spend too long watching or reading or listening to the goblins to get the gist of what was going on, and Valko was about to suggest they go ahead and slip out when a goblin ran past yelling.

...... now that was interesting.

".... that goblin is yelling about a thief." He told Jessa quietly, wondering if she was interested to go see what was going on or if she wanted to casually go back the way they came. Nothing to do with them but also potentially interesting. He'd defer to the prefect on that one.

____________

Bel had made it to the gift shop herself and heard yelling before she actually saw anything, honestly. Mostly because she was doing what you do in giftshops and browsing the merchandise. What was a... a gisser?

More importantly, why was Em a... whatever that was? Bel put the commemorative gringotts teaspoon she'd been looking at back on its display and went over to the younger Hufflepuff. Her teammate, y'know.

Um....

"....everything okay, Em?" For real though, what was a gisser?

A THIEF? In HER bank? Its more likely than you think. Sagni heard the yelling and began bossing other goblins to round up all the children. Hustle them through into the gift shop. And guard the doors so they can wait and be searched. Any pesky thief would soon be caught red handed and punished thoroughly.

"The," wandbearers, "children must all be searched. Felnott! What has been stolen? What is missing?" Sagni spoke in English for the benefit of all, generous even now in this moment of goblin crisis.

Sphinxes.

That got her attention, long after they'd entered the mint and were looking about. Sphinxes were dead interesting and while there was a certain thrill that came with seeing dragons up close, the temptation to pit one's wit against that of a sphinxes held infinitely more intrigue for the Ravenclaw. It was like an encounter with the bronze knocker but the stakes were higher.

"When we do slip away, can we try to find the sphinx? Would that be a probl--we'll have to find one this summer." They still had plans, yes....? Even with her tentative ones to return to Brazil.

She did see the goblin, just as she'd turned to him to suggest they make their great escape now that they were putting the mint behind them. Thief?

Huh.

"This....sounds like it could potentially end up being my problem......" She considered aloud. Seconds later, another goblin going on about students being searched confirmed that. "Looks like we're gonna find out either way." And if that was the case, there was no point delaying the inevitable and starving her curiosity. Jessa took hold of his hand, lightly tugging him in the direction the goblin had run off to. "Who'd be dumb enough to steal from Gringotts?"

Thankfully, Bel came to her side and she was no longer alone with her accuser. "I don't know what's going on. I was going to look at some things in the gift shop, and this goblin started shouting and pointing at me. Do you speak Gobbledgook?"

Before she could get an answer from Bel, another goblin (Sagni) appeared and begin ushering in all of the other students. "What in Merlin's beard is happening?" That was when she finally heard that something was missing. "Wait? Does he think I took something?" She asked Bel, gesturing towards the goblin that had yelled at her.

She was completely confused by what was going on. Did they really think one of them had stolen something from Gringotts? She would never do such a thing and couldn't imagine any of her classmates doing it either. She would simply go along with the search and be finished with the matter because she was certain she hadn't touched anything that she wasn't supposed to touch.

Felnott continued standing there pointing, accusingly, at the wandwaver child. Soon other children had approached. Good, he thought, them being all in one place would make this easier. Those that have yet to make it to this point would soon have an escort.

He ignored all the conversations between the humans, choosing only to address Sagni. "A xoim dah gapem rbon gse nimg!" he exclaimed. He dropped his hand momentarily before once again pointing.

"Gsier! Gsier!"

Where was Sturnik? Sagni was calling for a search.

Sturnik would be surprised if anyone in the entire building didn't hear Felnott's shouting. In fact, he was convinced that, at this point, even Bunny the Dragon was complaining about the yelling.

He arrived just in time to hear what his fellow goblin was saying. He looked the child over. Yes, a search was necessary. A search of all of them, probably. Nobody stole from Gringotts. Not since the incident at least.

"We'll search them in turn." he said, also choosing to speak English despite addressing Sagni, the vault manager. He was just unsure if she preferred they wait for the Headmistress to arrive.

More goblins were appearing as the field trip group was starting to arrive. She had mixed emotions. She was glad that she was no longer alone with the yelling, finger pointing goblin, but she was also taken aback by the accusation.

"Headmistress?" She desperately looked around to see if she had arrived. "Headmistress!" her voice grew louder, hoping to be heard over the chatter of the goblins and other students.

She focused back on Felnott. "Sir, I don't understand what you think I did. I didn't take anything. No need to get upset." She smiled a nervous smile, hoping the goblin would realize his mistake. She wouldn't be angry or hold it against him. She looked to Bel for support. Her team captain surely knew she would never do such a thing.

Then Sturnik spoke about searching them all in turn. While she wouldn't out right object to being searched, she certainly wasn't going to volunteer to go first. Especially without the Headmistress present. Wasn't there some sort of rule that didn't allow a student to be searched without their adult present?

Default Robyn: Mint to Gift Shop | Regina: Gallery to Mint
Bathes in Maple Syrup | Dancing Lobster | Mrs. Charlie Weasley | Seneca's Beard | That's So Fetch

After wandering around the mint for a few minutes, Robyn was already bored. The making of coins just wasn't something that captured her attention. She wanted to see some action. Didn't this place have a dragon? Was it anywhere near hear?

But then something happened, something that peaked her interest. She, of course, couldn't understand what the goblin was saying, but one was running after that Hufflepuff girl. Finally, the seventh year thought in her head, something juicy is happening! Thank Merlin!

Wasting no time, she followed after the goblin and entered the gift shop. She arrived just in time to hear something about all of them needing to be searched and there was a thief. Her jaw dropped. Did that Hufflepuff steal something?!

She always knew those Hufflepuff weren't as good as they all said they were...

In response to Maddie's comment about her possibly getting into trouble and needing someone by her side, a quiet snort left the headmistress' mouth which curled into a smile. Right. Because she totally went looking for trouble these days. She, honestly, couldn't remember the last time she purposefully looked to get herself in a sticky situation, besides back in her Curse-Breaker days when that was part of her job.

Regina sauntered through the Gallery, really just taking brief glances at the portraits that were there. "Shall we head down to the mint and see all of this in action?" she asked the third year Hufflepuff.

The question was more rhetorical than anything. The woman was already making her way for the door and descended down the stairs to the mint, unaware what had transpired there and what was happening up in the gift shop.

Sturnik dug into his pocket and pulled out an object that was shaped like a paddle -- much similar to a muggle handheld metal detector, if any of the group were familiar with that.

He looked between Felnott and the girl. "Take a step forward." He instructed. This wouldn't hurt unless the girl had actually taken something, in which case -- this would set off an alarm and cause any goblin metal to feel warm, warm to the point of burning.

He'd wait until she was away from the other human girl before he started a proper search, but it was entirely possible that there would be a reaction as soon as she was in range.

What was going on? She was completely confused and starting to get really upset over the accusation. How in Merlin's beard did they think she would be dumb enough to take something from Gringotts, while on a school field trip, with goblins all around?

Then the one that appeared to be in charge (Sturnik) spoke and asked her to step forward. She desperately eyed Bel, hoping her captain would step up and say something. No one seemed to be coming to her aid. She looked back at the goblin, with worry and confusion in her eyes, and slowly stepped forward. She recognized the wand he held. It was sort of like the wand they used when they visited the muggle sports stadiums, to make sure no none had any weapons, so she knew they were looking for stolen coins.

Once next to the goblin, she started feeling a warm, then burning sensation in her pocket. "Ouch!" She quickly fumbled into her pocket, trying to figure out what must have been biting her. There was no other explanation for the quick, hot pain. Her hand reached in and wrapped around something hard, and hot, before pulling it out and tossing it on the floor. "Wait. What? That wasn't there. I didn't put that there." Her face first flushed then went pale. "Headmistress! Headmistress!" She desperately called for her, panic in her voice.

She had been casually making her way through the mint, watching the goblins with interest as they went about their work. Even though she had worked for one of the bank's branches many years ago, she never did get to see how the metal and cold she and her colleagues found wound up as coins.

The headmistress, by the time she got to the bagging area, was about to ask the goblin there a question when a shout was heard in the distance. That certainly wasn't a norm at the mint, no?

Definitely not. When the shouting continued, her head darted toward the staircase out of the mint. Within moments, she was darting up the stairs as fast as her legs would allow her. Her wand was at hand. She was praying to Merlin that everything was alright and that no one had tried sneaking off to see the dragon or attempt breaking into a restricted area.

But the scene before her when she stepped into the gift shop was ... well, unexpected. There were a few students up there, but it was the sight of a goblin with a paddle and the panic on Emmalyn's face that had her focus. What was going on? And why wasn't student being searched without her being present?

"Wsag, ecaxgfy, ih toimt om sebe?"

Sturnik looked at the girl's palm when she pulled out the coin. Well, well, it appeared that Felnott had been correct. There was a thief in their midst!

Sturnik hadn't technically even begun. He was just that good at his job.

Soon he heard the sound of the Headmistress making her presence known.

"What is going on here, Headmistress, is that one of your children was caught in possession of this coin." he said. He once again spoke in English for the benefit of all those around.

Felnott grinned to himself as he took a few steps backwards. Just as he anticipated, the wandwaver child was caught, how did they word it red-handed.

"Gsier! Gsier!" he once again chanted, this time with a hint of sick satisfaction.

His beady black eyes bulged creepily as he scanned the room. Mission accomplished.

Now the wandwaver babysitter, sorry, Headmistress was in the room. If he were the type to squeal excitedly about a plan coming together, now would be the moment.

Instead, he just rubbed together his hands and would eagerly witness the fallout.

She was starting to breath heavily as the panic flooded her body. “I didn’t. I-I wouldn’t. Not ever.” Emmalyn looked to the Headmistress with tear filled eyes. “You have to believe me.” But how could she be telling the truth? How did that coin get into her pocket? She tried to retrace her steps and figure out when she may have gotten close enough to one of the machines or accidentally bumped a table. Nothing came to mind. Even if it had, she couldn’t explain how the little coin ended up in her pocket.

Emmalyn spun around, looking to her classmates once again for support, but it didn’t appear any of them would step up and say it was all some crazy mistake. She was heartbroken. They were supposed to be her friends. They were supposed to stand up for her. Her eyes fell on Bel. Her teammate. Her captain. She couldn’t understand why her captain was just standing there and not by her side.

Finally, her pleading eyes fell upon the goblin that appeared to be in charge (Sturnik). “Sir. I know you have no reason to believe me, but I didn’t take that coin. I didn’t.” She shook her head as the tears began to fall. The field trip was the worst field trip ever.

Whaaaaat? This was crazy! Bel was wide eyed and she stepped up next to Emmalyn, indignant. She didn't need to understand the goblin speak to figure out what was going on now. The English helped of course, but the context became clear once the coin was revealed.

"That's the biggest crock I've ever heard! There's no way she stole anything. No way!"

Except... there WAS a coin in her pocket apparently? But Bel was inclined to believe her teammate, Em was an honest girl and would never steal. Besides... there were plenty of weird coins at Hogwarts already! She looked imploringly at the headmistress and put her hand on Emmalyn's shoulder in support. Maybe it was a prank? Could it be a prank?
