| | Divination Stairwell
The Divination stairwell is one of the largest staircases in the entire Hogwarts castle. It is a narrow, spiralling set of stairs that is accessible from a corridor on the seventh floor. At the top of the staircase is a small landing with a trap door on the ceiling, from which a ladder can be ascended to allow access to the Divination Classroom. A portrait of a group of women in crinolines hangs near the bottom of the stairwell, while a painting of sinister-looking monks near the top. Rumor has it that it takes five minutes to get from the bottom of the stairwell to the Fat Lady's Corridor.
Thinking of the students safety Professor Vance has had the caretaker put up some charms in place to make sure no unlucky student falling over the staircase by accident will get hurt. At the bottom of the stairwell a small resting group of a handful of pink beanbags and cushioned benches can be found and used by anyone going up or down on the stairwell. |

| RP Roulette, wooooooo!!!! Arts TRANSPONSTER! Truth be told, this Gryffindor girl wasn't the biggest fan of books, but she DID read every once in a while or when she had to.
Today was one of those days and she had her face buried in a copy of a book that covered what had become one of her favourite subjects of all time. Broomsticks. Who would've thought a book on the different types of wood and processes to make a flying broom could be so interesting? She would have to thank her brother Ollie for having bought her this book - because she didn't really buy books, y'know. Magazines, yes, but books... nah. "Ollie, you're a genius!" Anna said to herself, out loud as she lifted the book above her head and stretched out her legs in front of her for a bit of added emphasis.
Reading on the stairs was different too, but Anna found she wasn't interrupted as often as she would be were she in her Common Room. Who knew Gryffindors could be so intrusive curious about everything? |

Reading on the stairs was different too, but Anna found she wasn't interrupted as often as she would be were she in her Common Room. Who knew Gryffindors could be so intrusive curious about everything? Residing in a Tower definitely had it’s pros and cons especially more cons Laurel had found since she had taken over as Head of House of Slytherin from her uncle Justin. Speaking of Justin she hadn’t heard from him in a while, so she should remember to send him and owl later. Anyway, the snake common room was situated in the dungeons and she was high up on the seventh floor. When she got inklings from her Eye or got called down there by one the student leaders or Sir Bloodiness then it took a while to run down there, even if she had gotten up quite a tempo over the years.
On this particular day Laurel hurried out of her office and down the staircase with the only thing in mind to get down to the snake girl dorms fast. Somebody had been writing not so nice stuff in the adjacent bathroom about several of the girl’s so she needed to get down there to investigate who and why. And when she found out who they’d get a piece of her wrath.
Running down and not looking anywhere, but straight ahead is not recommended and thus Laurel didn’t seen the girl in red lion robes sitting on the stairs with her nose in a book before she collided with her and was propelled forward. Stumbling over the girl and then landing flat with a loud "SMACK!" a few steps down below on the stairs with her back hard on the stone made Laurel give off a loud "Oouuuuuuuuwie!"

Stumbling over the girl and then landing flat with a loud "SMACK!" a few steps down below on the stairs with her back hard on the stone made Laurel give off a loud "Oouuuuuuuuwie!" Anna was happily reading her brand new book, finding it fascinating that different magical trees yielded wood that provided different outcomes for brooms depending on what the maker was looking fo-- "AAARGHH!!" The third year was pretty much propelled forward as someone much bigger than her collided with her back and sent her flying towards the ground.
After a second or two of disorientation, Anna blinked a few times and looked to her side where someone had also flown to the floor. WELL, the someone who had SENT them both flying, that was.
Professor Vance. Oh. Weeell, it wasn't like Anna could blow up and have an argument with a professor about the older witch not using her eyes. Hmmm, okay. She'd have to take a different approach. "That was a loud thud we made just now, professor!" The Gryffindor would have laughed but that HAD hurt quite a bit, y'know. To be fair, the woman probably did know, what with grunting and groaning. "Don't even know where my book went." Aaaand she kind of didn't feel like getting up yet because her ribs kind of hurt.

Opening one eye and then the other Professor Vance cautiously rolled over to the side to feel where it hurt and to survey the situation. She had most definitely knocked into someone human. Embarrassingly enough it turned out that she had taken a female student in red robes with her in the hard fall to the ground. Not good. Reaching up to feel her face Laurel could relieved resolve that she had only sustained a bad back ache and a couple of bumps and bruises mostly likely to her head and face.
Attempting to sit up Laurel grimaced and groaned as pain seered up her spine as she took in where she was sitting at the bottom of the Divination stairwell not far from Anna Merriweather. Embarrassed to say the least for causing their double fall Laurel didn’t know what to say at first so she just agreed with the lioness. "Yes, we made quite a bit of a racket Anna. I’m surprised no one came running to look what happened." Hogwartians were usually quite curious. "Are you all right Anna? Do you need to go see the healer?" Professor Vance questioned worriedly. She had caused this mess by her rushing down the stairs right? Sigh. This was not her day. "What book?" she wondered out loud. She hadn’t seen any book, had she?

Anna finally let out a soft chuckle at professor Vance's comment. "That's probably because we're so far up..." The Gryffindor slowly pushed herself up, also grimacing, and sat up across from the older witch, taking in short, slow breaths as she tried to recover. "...the tower." Arghdfghfjksd, that hurt.
The third year finally started looking around, still without moving much except for her head to try and find her book, when the professor asked her if she needed to see the healer. "No, I'm okay." She answered with a small reassuring smile. "I'm a tough cookie, professor." Anna chuckled before continuing. "Do you?" Needed to see the healer, that was.
What book? "It's about wood, actually." The girl started, then realised that sounded strange if one wasn't into Herbology. Which, to be honest, Anna wasn't very much. "Broomstick wood, I mean. It's about the process of..." She shifted a little and grimaced once again. Ow. "...broom making. Quite interesting, actually!" And that was saying something because Anna Meriwether wasn't a big reader. |

And that was saying something because Anna Meriwether wasn't a big reader. Laurel watched from her seat as Anna pushed herself up into a sitting stance. It was a clear relief to see that the lioness girl didn’t seem so badly injured at all. It made her ask the justified question that she would have asked if she hadn’t stumbled over the younger girl. "Anna why did you pick this particular stairwell to sit and read in?" Laurel would have showed confusion if it hadn’t badly hurt in more than one place. "I’m glad to hear it Anna." Laurel answered as Anna reassured her vocally that she was okay and didn’t need to go see the healer. Shaking her head she responded. "No, I’m okay too." Or mostly that was and she wasn’t going to go see Penny with a student in tow. It’d start a rumor mill that she wasn’t interested in.
Shifting into a more comfortable sitting position on the stair doing her best not to groan and grimace too much Laurel focused on the book. "Oh really its about broomstick wood and broom making? It sounds like the book i’ve been dying to read ever since Professor Baldvinsson recommended it to me. Who is the author of it?"
