| | Astronomy Lesson 1 - The Northern Lights The door to the Astronomy class is wide open and as you enter you see that the room is nicely lit and properly warmed for a growing colder early November midnight. Despite the windows being open and a cool breeze drifting through them, it’s still fairly warm.
The desks are all arranged neatly in their usual pattern, and there doesn’t seem to be any assigned seating anymore. Apparently Professor Kennedy has given up on that, or he learned his students names? Either way, feel free to sit wherever you wish.
The telescopes looked shiny in the bright light and yet you can’t help but notice how bright the moon and stars look tonight, the long windows in the room really gave such a good view of the night sky.
You will notice something though as you enter the room,Kalen isn’t sitting at his desk. No, he is standing next to a window, silhouetted against the sky. Peering upwards as if looking for something.
Huh.. wonder what that’s all about? OOC: Welcome to Astronomy class!. Just remember that even though this is the first Rp’d class this is not your second class with Professor Kennedy! Come on in, say Hi and we will continue on in about 24 hours.. ish! Also please keep the chatting to a minimum! Class has started! All late comers will face IC consequences, so feel free to pretend like your Charrie was here all along. Hogwarts RPG Name: Silas Rainier Montesh Jr First Year | 1 of 4 Amigos Don't underestimate me! Reese was left with his mouth gaping wide open when he and Quinnlin were reprimanded further and tossed out of the class. What even was this guy's issue?!..
He didn't care that he'd been warned not to give attitude.. Go ahead.. Give him detention!.. That wasn't gonna stop him from standing up for their right to care for one another.. " This is total rubbish!", he said with narrowed eyes..
He turned and gave Scmebulock a look that said he'd always have her back. " Don't worry, Quinnie.. We'll read the necessary chapters and I'm sure I'll be able to get the notes from Rylee..", he assured her..
He cast a long heavy glance at his older sister as he packed his things.. He couldn't believe that he'd been ejected from the class.. " Let's go, Cutie.. ". Reese added quietly to his girlfriend as he followed her out of the classroom.

| attempting spell - 1 • HuffleStud • Knight of The Zodiac • Manly Beard-Grower • Cicatrice de Harry • It was a pretty sight outside, the only time Kirk took his attention away was from a little situation. Watching the little tykes getting kicked out of class for being too lovey dovey apparently. He then turned his attention away, remembering how he and Mel have been like that but they had been more sneakier about it. Anyways, they were going to recreate the Northern Lights? Hmm.. maybe it would have some use for him.
Taking his wand, Kirk mimicked the ribbon like motion. He suppose that he could try to do this wordlessly, right? Fluctus Lux.... Fluctus Lux... Nothing yet. He tried closing his eyes this time to imagine the sightly lights before trying again. |

Whooooa! You mean...she could see the Northern Lights anytime she wanted all thanks to this spell?! Well, it wouldn't exactly be THE Northern Lights, but it would be the next best thing! Besides, what Maddie liked about them the most was how pretty they were. All that stuff about particles was just lost to her. She had already said everything she understood about the particles anyway.
Fluctus Lux. That didn't seem too hard to say. Maddie decided to say it aloud a few times, "Fluctus Lux. Fluctus Lux. Fluctus Lux," she said. After a while, she started getting tongue-tied and ended up saying "Flupus Lus. Flupus Lus." She laughed at her mistake. "Fluctus Lux!" The wand movement was super easy, too! She waved her wand around in a ribbon-like formation.
Were they supposed to just practice each one separately? Or were they supposed to actually cast when they were ready?

WHAT WAS GOING ON???
Her green eyes were huge as she watched the other eleven-year-olds not acting like eleven-year-olds AT ALL. She would never ever being that disrespectful to an adult, especially a teacher AND LOOK AT THE POINTS QUINN KEPT LOSING!
She took deep breaths as she felt panicked over her roommate acting the way she was. How many points was that against Ravenclaw? Chloe McCarthy was going to make it a mission to try to get them back. She moved the edge of her seat just so she could really, super duper concentrate.
Practicing the spell wasn't too hard, she could do it. "Fluctus Lux, Fluctus Lux, Fluctus Lux" Her hand was in the air super high and she was waving it, "Professor Sir, excuse me, but I want to make sure I'm saying this right it is Fluctus Lux?" Showing him the wand movement as she did it.

| Post 1 (hey y'all) you wanna fite? | 💚 nickleback 💚 | Uh, anyway. Julie, who had remained mostly silent and thoughtful as the class progressed- she was paying plenty of attention but not being very well versed in this particularly subject she was keeping to herself- but make no mistake, she was seeing and noting just about everything.
From the professor's melancholy - poor Kennedy, he never seemed to catch a break- to the roaming of the class - seats arranged and back, seats reclaimed and stolen - to stolen kissed between, of all all things, ickles.
The two seemed wholly uncaring, which was fine because Julie Bellaire was embarrassed enough for the both of them. She'd seen of crazy antics from her peers plenty in the Slytherin's now six terms at Hogwarts school of Witchcraft and Wizardry, but this - to her rule-abiding mind - took the cake.
If she was kennedy (of course she was not), she'd have taken ten points from each.
Julie raised her wand, refocused her mind and began the only part of this lesson she knew she could complete without fail- the spellwork.
Back and forth, her wrist flicked and wand flourished. Back and forth, and back and fourth. The motion itself was easy enough to master and mind numbing enough to let her mind - and eyes - wander a little.

| Made of Awesome | Ern-la the Best-wa | TZ's Apogee Oh, deaaaaaar. This was why relationships were probably a terrible idea - it made ickles act like crazy people. It wasn't surprising that Professor Kennedy had snapped and kicked the Hufflepuff and Quinn out of class, although they looked angry and Chloe would have opted for complete mortification.
But it was time to focus on the new spell. Chloe waved her wand as if there was a ribbon on the end, back and forth with a bit of a flick to her wrist. That motion was easy enough, and the incantation didn't seem too challenging. "Professor, is there a practical application for this spell? It's very pretty..."

She had no idea what was up with the first years. She wondered if her class had been that bad their first year, but quickly remembered that no, they had not been. She was going to have to have a talk with the first year Hufflepuffs. That sort of behavior, especially during a class, was unacceptable. She raised her hand and politely motioned for Professor Kennedy to come her way. "Sir, I apologize on behalf of my housemate. I'd also be happy to work off the points he lost. Maybe clean telescopes or another job?" It was worth a try. They needed all the points they could get and losing them due to someone being disrespectful was by far the worst way to lose points.

He hadn't been talking down to Daisy, just simply pointing out that she was oversimplifying something that was so beautifully complex. But, whatever, some people were just always going to misunderstand him. It was their cross to bear, not his.
And what was with Romeo and Juliet over there? Didn't they realize that they were WAY too young for such things? Most people didn't start dating until, like, fourteen at the earliest. And he wasn't even going to go into the spiral of comparing a couple of first years' love life to his own lack of one. Also, he was glad that neither student had been a Gryffindor, because while they had been doing their best, the House's points were still in the negative. This would put Ravenclaw further behind them and bring Hufflepuff down to second. Which meant.....
A low growl came from the Head Boy as he realized that now Slytherin would be the top House. Oh hells no! That couldn't stand at all! Ronan now had a scowl on his face. A boxing/thinking session was definitely going to be needed after this.
His thoughts were so focused on that, that he almost missed the spell. Almost.
He practiced the wand movement first, the ribbon-waving motion making him feel a bit silly. "Fluctus Lux. Fluctus Lux." Now that the spell was committed to memory, he could focus doing the spell non-verbally. It took a couple of tries, but he finally got the lights to come out of his wand. Hogwarts RPG Name: Daehyun "Daniel" Yoon Third Year | Did... Quinn and Reese just get kicked out of the classroom?
... how did that happen?
He'd been too absorbed in admiring the sight outside so, naturally, he'd missed everything else that went on around him. He only looked away from professor Kennedy addressed all of them again. They'd be learning a spell! Now that he was better at, than all those scientific phenomena and how they happened.
Listening closely to the instructions, he pulled out his wand, which he'd only waved back and forth to try out the movement at first. Didn't seem like there was much room to mess it up so, after repeating the words Fluctus Lux a couple of times to make sure he was saying it correctly, he moved his wand as if tracing the shape of a ribbon fluttering in the wind, and said, "Fluctus Lux." Just then, a beautiful ribbon of white light emerged from the tip of his wand, fluttering similarly to the aurora right before him. "How pretty," he muttered under his breath.
The spell would make awesome props for parties and such, wouldn't it?

| Mentions of many (Practising the spell) Oh, how we drift away from our friends. And the ones back home play remember when
Daisy raised her hand. "Professor, I didn't feel that Ronan talked down to me. If I did I would have said something."
When Professor Kennedy kicked Reese and Quinn out of the classroom, she was very relieved. She was wondering what was with these two. They didn't seem to care at all. Daisy had tried to ensure Reese that being a Hufflepuff was not a bad thing a few weeks ago which obviously had done nothing.
When Emmalyn suggested on how she could earn points for Hufflepuff, Daisy nodded in agreement.
Daisy now needed to focus on practising the spell. She grabbed her notebook and quill and wrote down the information regarding the spell. Quote:

| HOLISTIC ACTRESS {X O} EVERYTHING IS CONNECTED It was impossible to tell really, whether Beth Greyvson was awake or asleep. Really truly it was almost both at the same time. Still, her silence was more because she was still bewildered over everything that had gone down in class…really, the slytherin girl was simply wondering whether the spell could be used to give rooms – any room, an etherial glow. ”don’t fall asleep Beth,” she breathed under her breath as she stifled a yawn and began trying to practice the spell. Moving closer to the window Beth looked at the northern lights and smiled, sleepily. ”its…mag – maaag – magical” the words finally stumbled out.
She heard it, though. Daehyuns’ comment on the prettiness of it. He was right, really, it was magnificent. ”Fluctus Lux” she tried, yawning only a sputtering of light ribboned from her wand. Nothing, nothing at all like his or any of her classmates.

| lots of mentions in here, hi :3 astronomizzle ♧ gryffinDORK | & the rest is drag ♣ #badluckDerf Derf certainly caught Chloe's look towards him and she didn't HAVE to say anything for him to know what she was thinking. She was always quick to, affectionately, point out how much of an academic he was and he threw her a bit of a confident grin back. He may struggle with the scientific theory of some subjects, but if there was one thing he could always wrap his head around it was storytelling and what was what mythology really was at its most basic core, yeah?
And he sorta caught the older Slytherin girl looking at him too (after his answer) and felt his cheeks heat up a bit...so it was a hand that went into his hair for a ruffle afterwards. Reflex and such.
But as the librarian responded to Derf, his brow knit and he felt he needed to clarify something. "The Vikings didn't think of them as bad though...." Cause that wasn't what the fifteen year old had been saying at ALL and he was more than a little paranoid about being misunderstood these days. For reasons. "They were a GOOD thing...stories of heroism and bravery and all that stuff." He had only been talking about the happy tales there, mostly. War wasn't so happy but the selection of brave souls getting to spend eternity in such a holy place was, you know. "Not like...you know like...like the Sámi! They thought the lights were the souls of the dead TOO but like...you shouldn't tease them by waving, whistling or singing under them and stuff...because then those souls would know you were there and they may reached down and grab you to drag you up into the sky with them...OR WORSE!"
And there were also stories about them being Mythical fire foxes, Arctic ones, that painted the sky like that with their tails. Derf REALLY liked that version and probably shoulda shared that one - it would have been the more expected story given his own interests, but oh well!
"Guess though...it's kinda neat to think about how across cultures...the lights tend to be the souls of the dead. Like...that thought and everything is a common thread." It was nice to think that people thought of souls as being so colorful, colorful like Abey, even if the Hufflepuff couldn't see the same colors as everyone else. Seeing his classmates smile told him that it was quite special.
And then...he had entirely missed what had been going on between Reese and Quinn, but given the SUPER BRIEF interaction he had had with them not too long ago - that fierce protective and almost possessive quality their friendship had - Derf wished he could say he was surprised. And he didn't want to pass judgement on either of them, not really, since he hardly knew the situation...but he did offer them both a sympathetic look as they left the classroom. Maybe he could go speak to the younger Hufflepuff later, in private. He had notice a lot of...unnecessary attitude and stuff. Or maybe Rylee knew what was going on. Hmmm.
But yet again...he felt an uncomfortable jolt as the true nature of their relationships became obvious. Oh. He could feel his own anxieties about all THAT building up again. A distraction right now would be brilliant.
Or, you know, working on a new spell. That was a good proper distraction.
Wand out, Derf caught Emmalyn's offer to the professor and felt his heart swell. While also...he felt a little disappointed too. Not so much in HER but the whole situation. Also...how how point obsessive people were - competitive nature, he reckoned. So, of course, he had to speak up. "Those points are more his responsibility to earn back," he said gently to his housemate. Of course he got that she just wanted to help Hufflepuff, and hopefully his smile conveyed that, but if they were always cleaning up after one another rather than taking responsibility for their own actions...you know. "He should be the one given the opportunity of cleaning telescopes, not you. His blunder to fix, you know?"
Just some unsolicited Derf 'wisdom' of the moment. And he was sure once Reese had calmed down a bit - and after he had spoken with him, maybe - that the first year would be more than willing to. So he hoped.
Okay...but NOW how about this spell?
"Fluctus Lux...Fluctus Lux...Fluctus Lux..." he mumbled to himself, focusing on the incantation first and foremost.

| Yeah I broke that mirror, so what? ll NOT backward ll Official Gryfferin ll Lemon's favourite Oh for the love of Merlin. It took a great deal of self restraint to maintain her usual, passive expression in the face of the fresh hell that was Quinn and that Hufflepuff.
Honestly.
Not holding hands...wasn't the end of the world. It certainly wasn't enough to throw away an opportunity to learn. The Hufflepuff she held no standard for, but something in Quinn had had her hoping the girl was smarter than that. It'd only been 2 months into the school year. Whatever relationship she had with that boy, it was already enough to remove all common sense.
Glaring because you were told PDA wasn't allowed in a lesson?
Actually, no, she wouldn't think about it. Let them wallow in their ignorance. Barely old enough to own wands and they were already letting infatuations cloud their judgement. She pitied them in some ways and in other ways hoped that time would be a good enough teacher for them. Best case scenario, they would one day be able to see how dumb this was. Worst case, they'd spend the rest of their lives feeling justified in their defiance.
Deciding it something she would let Erik deal with disciplinary and informing Hirsch wise, Jessa simply drew her wand to begin the spell work. It was a spell she was already familiar with--surprise surprise.
Back and forth she moved her wrist, concentrating on intent. There was no point casting verbally. It was even less of a challenge.
It was the second attempt that saw the ribbon of lights spilling forth from her wand, this not being a spell she ever really had reason to cast. The ones she used on a daily, she could cast non-verbally in her sleep. The ones she learned simply because they were on the syllabus still sometimes took a little before working. Thankfully this wasn't necessarily one of them.
Was she done "practising" now?

Harriet sighed at the drama that was Quinn and Reese. It was pretty annoying actually. They worked hard for the points that they earned, but it obviously meant nothing to those two. It was only two months into the term, but Hattie could tell it was going to be a hard term, and that these two would potentially be pushing all the boundaries. She got relationships (although these two were pretty young) but there was a time to be public with them, and this was not one of them. This was a time for learning, for everyone, and really they should be conscious of that. She was sad they had been kicked out of class, but if they'd stayed and continued to disturb people in the lesson. Hopefully everything would go smoothly from now on.
They were going to learn a spell? But she thought they were going to see the lights? It was pretty cloudy, so there was that. Being able to use a spell to make the lights was cool, but it wasn't exactly the real deal. Maybe she would have to put visit Iceland or Norway to see the actual lights onto her bucket list so she could see it. But for now, she would practice the spell. Seeing some pretend lights would do for now.
She practised the wand movement first, waving her wrist like she was making a ribbon flutter. It was pretty easy actually, and she liked it. She had got it pretty quickly. So that was good. Now she moved onto practising the incantation saying "Fluctus Lux" outloud a few times, making sure she knew how to say it correctly. After a few minutes of this she felt confident. Yep. She had got it. Hattie then combined the pair, moving her wand like she was making a ribbon flutter whilst saying "Fluctus Lux!" and a ribbon of light came out of her wand. "Ooh. So pretty!" She murmured with a smile. Yep. she was exited and she liked it. And she was happy she had been able to do it. Figuring she had some spare time, she began to try and do the spell non-verbally.

Had she seen what went down just then, possibly. Did she hear all of what took place between the two first years and the Professor, everyone had, so yes. The glance sent her way was seen and noted. Reese was her brother, Quinn her friends, anything concerning either of them could be spoken about outside of the lesson.
Rylee's attention very quickly turned right back onto Professor Kennedy as he spoke how they would be learning a new spell today. Returning to her seat and sitting down silently once more she quietly took down whatever notes she needed to making sure she had the proper incantation as well as wand movement. Setting down her quill and pushing her parchment to the edge of her desk she was ready to get started.
Pulling her wand from it's holster she gave it a gentle wave while flexing her fingers around the smooth wood. Lightly and slowly she moved her hand around in a smooth ribbon like flutter motion. It was really easy! Sets her wand down on her desk so as not to mess up on accident while learning to say the incantation correctly now. "Fluctus Lux...Fluctus Lux...Fluctus Lux..." she repeated several times both out loud and in her head until she had a feel for it. When she was sure she had it down she picked her wand back up. "Fluctus Lux!" First time she tried she got nothing. So she tried again and again. And a few more times.

As she tried to mentally switch back to focusing on the task at hand, she heard Derf’s words and wondered what would be the best way to support their house. No, points weren’t everything, but the few taking down the many wasn’t right. “Maybe we can come up with a plan later?” She whispered to her prefect. She wanted to help in whatever way she could. She also caught Daisy's approving eye and smiled back.
On to the spell. Wand work wasn’t her strong area. Things either went wrong, or nothing happened at all. She started with practicing her the incantation “Fluctus Lux. Fluctus Lux.” That part didn’t seem too hard. Then she held up her wand and made a back and forth flicking sort of movement. She assumed that would make a ribbon flutter if it were attached to the end of her wand.
It was time to put it all together. She made sure she was not pointing her wand at anyone and commanded “Fluctus Lux!” while making the back and forth flicky motion. She waited...and waited, but nothing happened. “Humph” she exhaled and looked at her wand as if it were the reason her spell didn’t turn out. “Fluctus Lux!” she commanded once more. Unfortunately, nothing happened.

Drama. Hogwarts was so dramatic. Vivian felt a bit bad that those two had to leave the class. Their lesson seemed really interesting, after all, and who didn't want to actually see the Northern Lights? But then again, she would have done the same if she were in Professor Kennedy's place. It just simply felt like too much, and she was half-glad that none of those two were Slytherins because this seventh year just wasn't going to deal with that. The Head Girl glanced as both first years--she was still taken aback at that fact, to be honest--left the classroom before sighing and diverting her attention to the discussion.
... Yeah, still pretty convinced that the librarian was a seer. But that was interesting, those muggle radio thing. How come muggles were able to invent that when wizards had magic? Keep up, wizarding world.
And really? There was a spell to make something like those lights? Awesomesauce. But not seeing the actual lights? Maybe a bit disappointing. Vivian had practiced a tiny bit on the wand movement, but it all seemed to flow well because it was a pretty chill movement anyway. "Fluctus Lux." Took a few attempts before a ribbon of light fluttered around with each stroke of her wand.

Nathan glanced over to see what Rylee's trying to do now? He watched her slipped a sugar quill onto the edge of his desk. He picked it up and couldn't help but be amused by her efforts. She may looked harmless and sweet, but she's relentless to a fault. "Alright, fine." Nathan gave her a small smile. "I want more of these later." What can he say? She has won over his stomach.
Ah, ickles getting into trouble again. Not surprising to the least. Although, he was a little envious they got to leave class early. Professor Kennedy really want none of it. Too bad, kids...see ya.
Yawning all the while. Nathan finally stood up and joined the rest of the class. "Fluctus Lux...Fluctus Lux..." he cast as he moved his wand around as instructed. It took a couple of practice before he could produce a ribbon of light from the tip of his wand. It was a nice sight to see. Now...he wondered if he could do it non-verbally.

| Lovely™ | Captain Hurted | Ariana's Bane | Resident Antagonist | Unparalleled Delight ........ So, anyways. Astronomy.
As bad at Astronomy as Abra was, he was particularly interested in this one bit of magic that Professor Kennedy was teaching them, mostly because it was all to do with those pretty lights up in the sky. Also, because it was a spell, nothing to do with charts or calculations or remembering moons of planets or names of stars. Spells were much easier than all of that.
He could have done with less of all that talk about particles though, but Abra had sort of got through all that with a glassy-eyed stare at the professor. Now for the ~magic~. "Fluctus Lux... Fluctus Lux..." Abra repeated the words a few times before raising his wand to try the wand movement, but without adding his intent to the spell just yet. Just going through the motions. "Fluctus Lux..." He moved his wand back and forth, peeking at those around him to compare wand movements and make sure he was doing it right. He had that incantation down, even though it was the type to get mixed up if he wasn't paying enough attention, but that wand movement was a little trickier to get absolutely perfect.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Addison Ayers First Year | Plasma… An interesting word for some reason. She wrote notes, knowing full well that otherwise this information would go in one ear and out the other. Kye studied Professor Kennedy’s stance for the spell, and wrote down the incantation.
Kye raised her eyebrows as the little fiasco happening with Reese and Quinn, but she paid it little mind. What should she care? They weren’t in Slytherin, so meh. She began practicing the wand movement and working on the pronunciation. “Fluctus Lux… Fluctus Lux…” |

| Question!!!!! YesJess! | Captain Goggles | Mama Badger | Eva's Soul Sister | An OG™ | It's all in the Numbers So honestly? Skylar hadn't been paying attention to the lovey dovey first years. For one, this was a lesson on the NORTHERN LIGHTS, which was actually pretty exciting. But when they got kicked out her class, her attention was briefly drawn to them and she couldn't resist rolling her eyes. Honestly, kids these days had absolutely zero knowledge in the art of subtlety. It was actually more amusing to the seventh year then anything, given she and Apollo definitely had some risky behaviors. But they were both professionals at being sneakier when it came to PDA. Obviously. Back to the northern lights though.
Wait, what?? So they weren't going to actually SEE the northern lights but recreate them? Tilting her head over at the Professor, she took in all that he was saying, watching his stance and wand movement. It didn't seem that difficult but ... white light? Wasn't it supposed to be GREEN light??! She stared for a moment in utter confusion, as she scribbled down the incantation into her notes so she wouldn't forget. "Fluctus Lux" she said, rather curious as to why they didn't use Fluctus Lumos instead. Was that even a spell? It seemed to make more sense, since Lumos was the light creating spell. Also, she was going to practice this non-verbally, but figured ingraining it into her brain with its correct pronunciation would be key for successful casting. First things first though, the she-snake found herself raising her hand, because she had questions she needed answered. "Professor Kennedy? How come it's a white light? If we're meant to be recreating the Aurora Borealis, shouldn't it be green light? Or wait, what causes the green light? Is it a reflection of something else that we're yet to get to? And why lux? Don't we already have a different light creating charm?" Sorry for the borage of questions, but she was curious!!! And there was information left unanswered.

Maddie tried to focus on the incantation and the wand movement and not all the drama going on in class. Her mom and dad would have a fit if they found out she was acting that way in school. She cast a glance in Emmalyn's direction. It was a complete bummer to have lost the points, but no way was Maddie going to clean telescopes or something to try and win the points back. She had enough on her plate with trying to keep her own grades and marks.
Like this spell, for example. "Are we supposed to actually try casting it, or just practice the wand movement and incantation separately?" she asked, raising her hand. "Fluctus Lux. FLUC-TUS LUX." She followed that up by waving her wand in a ribbon-like formation. She thought she was ready to try it all together, and she was pretty excited to see the results.

Patrick watched some of the other students go about the incantation. He was pretty certain that he would eventually be able to make the incantation work. But he usually liked to see someone else do it first so he could ensure that he knew exactly what he was doing with the spell.
Making sure his wand was ready, he raised his hand and stated firmly, "Fluctus Lux" the light came out of his wand just as it was supposed to. It shouldn't surprise him anymore, yet it still surprised him none-the-less because he still expected something to go wrong. He was looking at the white light thinking exactly what Skylar had asked about the light not being green like it is in the pictures he's seen.

| Unforgivably Cursed | adultescent Wow. Gunnar wasn't all that invested in whatever sort of drama had been occurring in class today, but he knew that he would have been mortified had he been called out by the professor like that and then kicked out of class - and certainly not talk back like that. And yes, he couldn't help but to be distracted by that last bit as he watched them pack up and leave. But his attention was soon drawn back to class.
The nearly 13 year old really liked learning new spells and, even though this one didn't seem all that useful, it did seem like a pretty cool one. Gunnar watched Professor Kennedy for a moment, committing the incantation and wand movement to memory. Now time to practice. "Fluctus Lux," he said once aloud to make sure he had the correct pronunciation before attempting to cast it. "Fluctus Lux!" he said again, this time a little more firmly as he waved his wand in ribbon waving sort of motion. A little spark, but not much more told him that he needed to keep practicing.

| Lovely™ | Captain Hurted | Ariana's Bane | Resident Antagonist | Unparalleled Delight Alright, so this wand movement wasn't too bad actually, it just took a little bit of rehearsing to sort of get into the stride of it, that was all. Abra kept practicing it, saying the words along with the wand movement to prepare for actually attempting to cast the spell in a moment. "Fluctus Lux... Fluctus Lux..."
There was really only so much practicing he could do, so Abra quickly moved on to the actual magic part. He did his best to visualise exactly what he wanted from the spell - a ribbon of white light - and kept moving his wand as he did so, picturing the light emerging. For a moment, he just continued doing this, until... "Fluctus Lux," he spoke with a certain sort of assertiveness, concentrating as hard on the desired effect of the spell as possible. Nothing. Or... no, did the air seem a little brighter? Not quite a ribbon of light, but not exactly nothing either - unless he was just imagining it.
Undeterred, Abra tried again. "Fluctus Lux." This time, something definitely happened, a faint but definitely visible ribbon of light, and he watched it until it faded. Could he do it even better? He was certainly going to try.
