A bit confused about the plot? Housemates talking about a mysterious something going bump in the night? Here's where YOU can post and catch up on happenings around the castle and in Hogsmeade -- out of character, of course.
This means that unless your student character heard this stuff from other students or witnessed the actual event, your student character doesn't know about it.
Also, this is a reminder to everyone to only post updates on the school plot here. Please do not post the happenings of your student character in here; that kind of chat goes in the school chat thread.

Charles' compliment was a bit much, to say the least. The woman continued to nod and smile when he spoke before he went to take his seat.
But that compliment didn't stay at the forefront of her mind for obvious reasons. She was still thinking about what Roderik had said to her in front of everyone. And she could tell that Laurel was THINKING things. Merlin... Regina was going to let the blonde think whatever she wanted. Not a single peep was coming from her.
Her attention quickly shifted over to Haraldur after he bumped into her. She remained silent rather than tell him to watch be more careful and took the opportunity to rise from her seat. It was time to get the feast started, especially now that Paul had finally arrived, and get everyone to bed. And get to the bottom of the whole Hershey's kisses ordeal.
The shenanigans at the Hufflepuff table didn't go unnoticed either. Her eyes narrowed at a certain few as she made her way up to the podium.
"Good evening, everyone! To those of you who are new to Hogwarts, welcome. As for those of you who are returning, welcome back," the headmistress greeted, wasting no time to get the speech started now that she was standing in front of the entire hall. "I have a few announcements as per usual."
"As some of you have noticed, there are some new faces seated with me tonight at the staff table. First, Professor Charles Curtains has taken over History of Magic from former professor Rosalyn Marchand. Next, Professor Ignatius Noble has taken over Potions from former professor and healer River Reed. And lastly, Professor Celestia Grimsbane has taken over Transfiguration from former professor Camilla Stewart. We also have a new healer, Miss Penelope Macmillan, who is joining us after serving St. Mungo's for many years. Please join me in welcoming our new staff members."
Regina made a gesture to each figure and clapped her hands together in applause.
"The next order of business is that Quidditch has finally made its return to Hogwarts. Tryout sessions will be happening in the days ahead. Please take note of the notices about the tryouts in your common rooms or speak to your House captain directly."
Rather than wait for an applause (she was already anticipating a few loud cheers), she carried on to the final part of her speech.
"Classes, of course, begin tomorrow and kick off the beginning of a new term. As always, engage yourself and take ownership of your learning for what you learn here can open so many doors for you in the future." She paused a moment to let that message sink in before adding, "But first, let us enjoy a delicious feast, courtesy of the house-elves, together and then head to bed."
With a swift wave of her hand, food and drink appeared on all five tables. Having no more to say, she made her way back to her seat ... where there would hopefully be no more mentions of Hershey's kisses or any questions on what that was all about.

"Everything is going according to plan so far,'' she reminded herself. Her face filled with determination as she told herself that the action plan was going to continue this way. Once again, a glance was cast over her shoulder and there was that rare smirk on her face.
Cassie had slipped with ease through the bustle of the a busy Hogsmeade and approached the musty shop with interest befitting it. Interest that likely hadn't been given it in all that much time. When she stood directly in front of her destination, the Ravenclaw looked upon the columns on either side of the door with a gaze that didn’t seem to be blinking all that much. If at all. She slipped the paint from beneath her robes and proceeded to add brush strokes to the painted wooden surface that was in need of a new paint job. Red brush marks soon marred the faux marble, forming over time into the shape of an eagle. A distorted representation of her house mascot.
And then it was done and the seventh year turned her back and stepped away from it with not a care in the world.

Rylee moved onward through the crowded and noisy pavements littered with way to many people. She moved right up to the shop front without so much as a sound or a blink of the eye. Holding the can of paint up she lifted the brush from it and smeared it's contents along the wood of the shop. Think bright red brush strokes up, down and across all done in a very robotic manner.
It wasn't until the form of a hawk was clear as day on the front of the shop that the brush was returned into the paint can which was put back into her bag.
The same way Rylee had shown up at the shop was how she turned and walked away. Without any true care for anything at all.
There was one bright red wing now present on the glassy surface and with a few more quick yet purposeful strokes there was another red wing to join its brethren. Cassie took no survey of her work as she went along in her absent movements, just pushed forward as she continued her window painting. Swish…swish…swish. Swish…swish…swish. Her paint-filled brush soon curving into the form of the hawk’s body to add to the display.
Swish…swish…swish.
Dip.
She smoothly dipped her paintbrush in the paint can to fill it once more before reapplying the brustles to her wet work. Swish…swish…swish. Swish…swish…swish. The rest of the bird of prey gradually grew out of her brush strokes as she moved her arm and hand with steady actions to draw it upon the shop window. Her gaze focused and still, even as she moved her attention to mimic with the move of the brush.

Swishy-swish. One painted line meeting another. Dip dip. Swish went the brush again adding the final brush strokes the paint dripping slightly from the large newly painted hawk.

Your sense of hearing leads you to the Clock Tower Entrance. A trail of red drips lies in a single straight line on the stone floor. Suspicious, no? It's enough to make you investigate further, and look up at the ever swinging pendulum where a familiar yet eerie sight greets you.
The hawk seemed to glow brilliantly, its outline stark against the metal, almost as if someone had stopped the clock's movement to create it before starting the pendulum off again. Clearly they hadn't hung around for the paint to dry though, as a trail of liquid runs down from the hawks tail, along the pendulum and onto the floor beneath.

It was the dead of night, and Maxton Carden slowly made his way up to the second floor, the only sound was the soft thud of his slippers on the cold corridor floor. He came to a sudden stop when he reached the right spot between a portrait and the statue of a gargoyle.
The Slytherin gazed momentarily at the bare stone wall before reaching into the rucksack of supplies he had brought along.
He dipped a paintbrush into a small pot of bright red paint and got to work, moving the brush in swift, concise strokes. He normally wasn't the artistic type, but it seemed something had changed tonight and it didn't take long for the red hawk to become visible in the strokes he was making.
Satisfied with his work, Max dipped the brush back into the red paint and got to work underneath his creation.
This time, they were words:
END THE STRUGGLE
His job complete, Max packed his rucksack, slung it over one shoulder and wandered drowsily back in the direction of the Slytherin Common Room.
And in the Basement Corridor

Once she arrived at the middle of the corridor, she turned to face an empty patch of stone wall. She pulled the brush out of her robe pocket and methodically dipped it in the bright red paint. Dip then stroke, dip then stroke.
The image of a hawk slowly spread across the stone as she continued to dip and stroke her brush. Her energy and resolve never faltered in her work. After the full image of the hawk was complete, Emmalyn took a small step back and selected a clear space below to finish her task. With steady hand, she painted

Yellow eyes lock on their target, and the owl swoops down with a loud hoot. A black envelope falls from its talons. There’s something written on it in deep red - a shade of red suspiciously similar to the paint seen dripping at the Job fair a few months ago. The writing spells out the name of the envelopes intended recipient: Kaysha Stewart.
Just as quickly as it came, the owl flies out the nearest window.

Breakfast wouldn't be for a couple of hours, but Kye was already standing in front of the Great Hall. She gazed ahead, her mind was rather... fuzzy. No thoughts passed through, no daydreaming, or anything else for that matter, except for what could be described as a small voice of motivation to keep going. Keep moving. Do what needs to be done. Finding herself having come to a complete stop, Kye stared blankly at the doors before her. It was clear that the message was not being received loudly enough, wasn't it? That would change soon. She walked through to the other side of the hall and put down her bucket at the wall behind the staff table. She dipped her brush, letting the paint cling in a generous portion, before it hit the wall. In as big of an arc as she could make, Kye got to work. It wouldn't be long before the hawk was clearly made out, and the message could be received. Soon the hawk was saturated, and a few drops of the red paint started to make their way down. Her work in here was done. Kye spun on the spot, and left the Great Hall. Her bucket was not yet empty...

His area of expertise was sitting in a box in his pocket. He might've otherwise looked calm and casual as he stood there in his Muggle attire, but his fingers were gently stroking a familiar looking box that contained a familiar looking ingredient inside. "I think it's time to pass the pixie dust along," he whispered to Mel, the French slipping through as a sign of precaution.

Quite the distracting scene, wasn't it?
The drive argued briefly with a muggle from his window as he continued to bump the horn. Before anyone could tell him off even more, the bus driver suddenly stepped on the gas and took off. It sped away as quickly as it had come.

The plan. Duncan gripped the box in his pocket with one hand, the other hand reaching into his other pocket to take out his wand. He didn't need to do what he was planning on doing, not when there were so many Muggles nearby, but he was a man who liked precaution and this was simply one way to cover up his tracks. Still caught up in the now over pandemonium, it was too late to do anything much about the sudden substance that shot to her face. The woman went into a series of harsh coughing. It was over as quickly as the crazy driver and his bus situation.
Kay felt a wave of seriousness wash over her. The smiling, pleasant face woman you saw earlier was gone. She was replaced with someone who had her mouth in a thin line. The warmth in her personality was gone and you're bound to feel her gaze icy if her blue eyes fixed upon you.
Her hand was creeping into the light purple satchel that was draped around her shoulder. From within another bag was fished out. It was a clear, plastic bag and those close enough might recognise a few of the items for they were items that were stolen from a few chosen Professors and students over the course of previous terms.
Just like before, Kaysha used dark magic to aid her in the possession of students. No longer was it limited to students whom had objects stolen from them. You wouldn't see the magic happening but you are sure to feel it.
OOC: Soooo. Who's up for some fuuuun? Previously possessed kiddos and those that want to join in on the chaos are now possessed (thanks to Kay). Actions to be RPed by the possessed: blank stares, quietly muttering the cult slogan- ''EXPOSE THE INEQUALITY" or "END THE STRUGGLE'', kiddos slowly revealing their wands. Have fun!

"Whoa.... what was that about?" she whispered glancing sideways at Dorian as the bus sped off again like nothing happened.
Huh? What was going on here? There was a lot of shouting and confusion. Several students pulling out their wands? They weren't supposed to do that, not outside of school, not in front of muggles! Rylee was in a clear state of confusion, her ice cream long forgotten. Before she could really grasp what was going on Dorian was taking off running towards the professors so she did the only thing she could think of right then. Rylee followed him.
"Dorian! Wait for me!" she shouted chasing after him.
Rylee made it only about half-way before her running halted to a slow walk. Bright blue eyes losing all trace of the happiness that was normal there to appear dull and blank. "Expose the inequality... end the struggle.." she muttered soft and slow repeatedly. Her hand moved to unzip her bag and tug out her wand that had been tucked away safely inside. "Expose the inequality..."

Again, soon enough it would't matter. She turned to Duncan and smiled. "All is going well - " That was, until some of the Hogwarts professors stuck their noses in. However, she thought she'd be the same kind of panic stricken if her students seemed to be put in danger. None of her favorite students back at Ilvermorny would come of harm from this. And some of these students wouldn't come to harm, either, and she wanted to tell them that. She didn't.
She aimed her wand at the back of one of the professor's back [Kalen] and was about to inflict either something illegal, or just slightly terrifying, and she was trying to decide which when -
The stupid, irritating, shriveling imp of a man sent a patronus. She saw it shoot from his wand - a butterfly, too, no less - and audibly growled. "Duncan, we've got to go - " she grabbed his wrist with her free hand and aimed her wand, openly, at Kalen. She had a fire in her dark eyes.
The spell was inaudible and silent; in her head. A red ribbon like substance slowly from the end of her wand. It took the shape of the wind as it headed straight for Kalen like a snake. The red substance wrapped itself around Kalen, covering his mouth and tying at the back of his head. The substance then dissipated, like smoke."There. That should shut him up - " And for good measure, Melanie flicked her wand almost lazily over her shoulder at the two professors [Kalen and Laurel] and incarcerous'd them together, the roped spitting out from her wand rapidly as she suddenly ran and pulled Duncan roughly behind her.
She didn't bother to look over her shoulder at him. "Duncan, be quiet and don't worry. We've got it under control now."We...as in she and...their leader. she fixed her gaze on his as she stopped momentarily. "Everything is fine."
But they needed to leave. NOW.
...and the worst happened. A panicked no-maj knocked Melanie's wand out of her hand on accident."NO - " but it was far across the way. "Duncan, go - GO -" she bellowed at her twin brother as she tried to channel her windless magic, but it just wasn't going to happen. She fumbled through the crowd to grab it, quickly, before Regina, or worse, the Ministry could arrive.
*gulp*
What's going to happen to those students who are harmed? How are Professors Vance and Kennedy going to get out of this predicament? Who's the Williams' mysterious leader? And will Melanie get her wand back before Headmistress Hawthorne gets there?
Stay tuned!
All bold-reddening, underlining and otherwise highlighting by me.

He was always ready for the summer holidays by the time the last few weeks of the school year arrived but this term, he was more than ready for a long, peaceful holiday. Possibly at a beach of some sort with something strong to drink.
Reaching the Dias, he decided to greet Regina first with a simple, "Looking great as always, Regina." A swift, dimpled smile was given before he moved to take his usual seat right next to Laurel. "Hey, Laurel. Glad to see that you've made a full recovery." Smile. "Congratulations on the win, by the way. You must be very proud of your house." It was hard to miss the green decorations, after all.
Oh, and will you look at that? There was no one else at the table, meaning that he was either early or everyone else was running late.
Viktor Sokolov would be proud.
It was a rare sight to see an owl enter during one of Hogwarts' great feasts. However, the matter had been quite pressing, and those at the ministry had deemed it necessary to avoid stalling this particular matter. The grey medium-sized owl flapped though the hall, dropped a letter in front of a certain Defense Against the Dark Arts professor, and flapped away. The letter luckily came before the speech, so there was no food it could have dropped into.
The letter was sealed with the Ministry emblem as well as addressed to Roderick Hirsch.
It read,
Quote:
To Mr. Roderik Hirsch,
It has come to my attention that you created illegal and unapproved portkeys in a recent debacle that happened in Dufftown in order to quickly and efficiently transport students back to the castle.
While being a hero is admirable, it is questionable whether you are trained in making portkeys. It was an emergency, so no legal action will be taken, but you have been summoned to the Department of Magical Transportation at the Ministry of Magic. You must come by the date of July 3, and no later. Failure to do so will force my hand at taking legal action. It was very risky and quite dangerous to make an unauthorized portkey, and we here on Level 6 would like to ensure that this does not happen again.
Sincerely,
Lynley Purcell
Magical Transportation Department Head

It didn't take very long for students and staff alike to make their appearance. One by one, faces registered in Regina's mind. Even some voices too, considering some (like Maddie Kemp) were the loud sort. However, the headmistress was willing to let that slide today – it was the end of the term, after all. She smiled anyone she caught waving at her from afar, though her hands remained folded on the table.
Gazing out at the four tables was short-lived as she hear someone taking a seat next to her. Automatically she assumed it was Laurel, considering Haraldur wasn’t exactly the most quiet person out there. Before the woman spoke, she turned her head to her right toward the Divination professor. "Good evening, Laurel. Congratulations on your House’s winnings." Green banners were everywhere tonight.
Roderik grasped her attention (that dimpled smile of his in particular) next and she gave him a smile in return. "Thank you," she replied. "You look quite handsome yourself. And on time even." The man may or may not have just won some brownie points.
"Hello, Tristian," she said, giving him a nod as well. Her eyes then shifted over to Kalen, who she noted seemed to be doing much better these days after the Dufftown incident. "I'm doing quite well, Kalen. Yourself? And how is Kaysha doing?" She assumed he had managed to quickly check in on her before leaving Mungo's and returning to the school.
"Good evening, Oswald."
A look was sent at Paul's direction when he arrived. The old man was ... unusually quiet ... and there was not a poncho in sight. "Hello, Paul."
She was about to ask the Herbology professor how he was doing, though her focus shifted. Gaston's nod of acknowledgement to her was returned, an eyebrow was raised at Roderik who had just received an owl, and then she exchanged greetings with both Haraldur and Ignatius.
And then Peeves happened, which resulted in eggs being thrown. Her eyes narrowed as she stood up from her seat, finding his antics anything put funny. She took out her wand and pointed it straight at him. "Don't you have something you should be doing elsewhere, Peeves?" Without another word, she implanted a false memory and then began her walk around the table. It was time for her to give her last speech of the term without any poltergeists around.
"Ladies and gentlemen, another term has come to an end,” the headmistress began. “After everything that we faced this term," – more red hawks, a number of possessions, and the Dufftown chaos – "I think we are all due for a well-deserved holiday. But, as always, there are a few last-minute matters to address and then a feast to enjoy."
"As the banners hanging from the ceiling suggest, Slytherin House has won the House Cup yet again with a striking one-thousand, seven hundred, and fifty-two points. The members of this House have also won the Quidditch Cup. In recognition of their hard work and House unity, a round of applause is in order."
She clapped her hands together, her eyes set on the Slytherin table.
"Now, at this time, I invite our graduates to please rise," Regina continued, pausing for a moment to allow a number of those in the room to stand. "After seven years of education, you have learned so much, made lifelong friends, and even experienced some strange occurrences. Having made it through it all and even surviving your NEWTs, the time has come for you to leave your mark on the world. I wish you all the best as you begin the next chapter of your lives. Good luck, and remember that Hogwarts will always be there to welcome you home."
Her hands clapped together for a fair amount of time, followed by a gesture that signaled the graduates to return to their seats and then a grandiose wave of her hand that made a variety of food and drink appear on all of the tables.
