| | Office of Professor Hirsch If offices were meant to show the essence of someone's personality than boy oh boy, did this room show what Roderik Hirsch was like. Everything was sleek, from the orange tables to the seats and even to the teal coloured desks. There was a certain gleam to everything, as if it had been well polished in advance.
Upon entering the room, the first thing you see is the desk sitting towards the middle of the room. Sitting upon the desk are a number of things: pieces of parchment, quills, ink, your everyday mundane wizarding equipment. What wasn't mundane was the picture of the Hirscch family gathered together at their most recent holiday, where everyone had been forced to wear ugly jumpers. (Thanks Ma)
The one thing the office seems to be in abundance of are chest of drawers. They seem to be everywhere from along a side of a wall to behind the desk and underneath the desk itself. There are also a few Defence books stacked up along the shelves on the left side of the room. Ask nicely, and you might get to borrow some. Might.
Hirsch himself can usually be found sitting behind the desk with his feet propped up onto the desk and shuffling through some piece of parchment or another. Please make sure you've posted in the Seating Area first and have been told that you can enter, either by Hirsch or by me. |

"Hello, Roderik." Yawning, Hirsch stretched in his seat and was on his way to consider getting some shut-eye before the following day’s responsibilities started. It hadn’t been long since the feast finished and he could feel the sleep rolling over him but he also needed to keep himself awake long enough to send off a customary letter. It was normal, at this point.
What wasn’t normal was the opening of his office door and the arrival of the Headmistress, of all people.
What in the name of?!
Hirsch blinked at her. "Regina?!" Whether it was because the woman held his career in her hands or the fact that she had a certain aura about her but she had the uncanny ability to make him feel as though he’d done something terrible. Or, on the flip side, she was here to tell him some very good news that couldn’t wait. "What, er.... what brings you here?"

| Arts TRANSPONSTER! "Nah, it's all good!" Matt told his DADA professor as he walked into the man's office. "I like the orange!" He added as he saw the tables. In fact,
he had a pretty cool colour scheme going on in his office. Obviously, Matt's favourite bit was the out-there tables, hence the specific comment.
Anyway! He had wasted enough time already with this small talk! "So!" The boy clapped his hands once and spun around on his heels to face the older wizard. "What have you got for me?? Have YOU been an Auror??" Was that the big news?? Was professor Hirsch about to tell him all about the old days of when he used to fight evil?? Was he going to give him books - Matt kind of hoped that wasn't the case because he was already doing a heck of a lot of reading for his NEWTs - specialised in something to do with Aurors?? Was he going to offer one-to-one duel training???

These, he definitely did not want to fall into the wrong hands. He gave a grunt as the Defence teacher responded, wasting little time before opening the door. Unlike the door he'd opened earlier, the reason he was here, the reason he'd no doubt have a lasting scar and lack of arm hair... this one he was sure wasn't protected by a curse or three. Unless Hirsch liked to play very harsh tricks on his students indeed?
Who knew at this point.
His face probably said a lot about his mood as he entered the office, and Noble firmly shut the door behind him before uttering a word. "Roderik," he greeted tersely, barely noticing the orange interior. "I was hoping you might be able to explain to me if and when it's appropriate to have a Flagrante Curse left on a classroom door for any old lost first year to stumble upon."

WELL????? ................. What?!
Hirsch, who had just entered the office and closed the door behind him, blinked in the direction of the Gryffindor. He liked the orange? Genuinely liked the colour of his desk? Because more often than not, the visitors to his office always seemed to look disgusted at the colour scheme he had going on. Orange wasn't a very popular colour, apparently. "Thank you. That's not a very popular opinion but I appreciate it." It was definitely...... new.
Oh right! He did have some information for the boy, as well as some suggestions that might be helpful. But first, "Take a seat," he said, gesturing to the seats reserved for guests to the office while he went and sat in his usual seat. "To answer your questions, I haven't been an Auror," Teaching always seemed like a better option to him. "But I know many Aurors in the Ministry, including some Hogwarts Alumni." Not to mention that his girlfriend was an Auror but that wasn't something the boy needed to know. "So! While I could give you all the leaflets in the world about Aurors and YATI training," Which, if he needed, the man had plenty. "I have a feeling it might be better if you got the chance to meet some of them yourself. So if you wanted, I could arrange a meeting with one or two of them where they could give you more information about the training process and what you need to know and prepare for." It was better first hand experience, in his opinion, and it opened up more connections. "There's also another offer I'd like to make," he started, adjusting his glasses slightly, "In the past, I've given extra, specialised training to those who wanted to go down the Auror path. These include combat training, extra defence skills, target practice and so much more physical training. So if you wanted and think you can handle the extra study, I could do the same for you." What did he think? Quote:

This was not what he was expecting.
Hirsch's eyebrows shot right up at the sight in front of him. Sure, him and Ignatius were colleagues and they didn't get along badly but the man wasn't exactly someone he'd invite to the pub for a drink. No offence, Ignatius. So to see him standing there, looking as though someone had tried to wreck his Potions classroom, was very surprising.
He hardly had time to take note of the beige that was peeking through the man's sleeves before the Potions Master started talking.
........... Er. This was very random. "When you don't want said first year to go into the room because what can be found there is potentially more dangerous and harmful than the Flagrante Curse." Was he looking for an actual answer? Because he was getting one. "After all, you wouldn't know not to touch fire if you hadn't touched it at one point and learnt that it's too hot and painful to be touched."
Pause. "What happened?" And did it have something to do with one of his Ravenclaws?

Pause. "What happened?" And did it have something to do with one of his Ravenclaws?[/COLOR] "Funny you should say that," Nobel said wryly, leaning against the door rather than taking a seat. "Because it was only one of several curses and a rather nasty necrosis-causing poison I found protecting this particular classroom. I caught the others, but the Flagrante managed to slip my attention, and took a good amount of my arm with it." He pushed up his sleeve to show more clearly the bandages wrapping the skin underneath - they stretched from his shoulder to his arm - as he watched for Hirsch's expression.
Did he know about this already? Maybe he did, with the comment about getting too close to the flames and being burnt. If that was a warning, Noble didn't heed it. Such precautions were irresponsible and quite frankly unnecessary when there was a lab space already provided at the school. Unless, of course, the experiments shouldn't be taking place in a school in the first place.
There were also other ways of securing a location without dark magic and requiring someone to be maimed on the off chance they got lost on their way to class. "Apparently your female Prefect thinks that giving someone permanent nerve damage is acceptable in a school. Well, that, and stealing from a professor." No, he hadn't forgotten that little incident in his office either. "You might condone it, but I don't."
Perhaps it shouldn't come as a surprise that students got cursed last term under Hirsch's watch after all.

What did he think? "Is it not?" The boy asked, jokingly. Of course it wasn't, most people in that castle were boring. "It's good that you like it and stand up to your own preference like this, professor! Way to go!" Matt fist pumped to emphasise how cool he thought it was. Yes. Very cool indeed.
But anyway, that was the least important matter at hand now.
SEAT! Seat it was. Matt sat down and kept looking intently at the older wizard. Was it too obvious he was dying of curiosity? Because he was. That was where his head had been in the rest of the DADA lesson, since the professor mentioned he had a few things he could tell Matt about becoming an Auror.
He had also been feeling rather light headed since then because THAT WAS SO EXCITING. Did professor Hirsch know? DID HE? WELL, IT WAS REALLY EXCITING.
Merlin, Matt felt like his chest could burst right now.
He listened as the man said he hadn't been an Auror himself but he did know many an Auror and all that jazz, leaflets, flyers and yadda yadda. The Gryffindor perked up even more when Hirsch said he could arrange a meeting for Matt to get to know some Aurors in person.
WAIT, hold on, he needed to take that in. Breeeeeeeathe, Matt. He took a deep breath, eyes never leaving the professor in front of him. "That sounds... amazing. Ideal. Perfect, yeah, I'm IN!" The Gryffindor exclaimed, slamming his fists on the armrest of his chair. Ow. But AAAHHLKSDJFHSDKLJ real Aurors, holy Merlin, he couldn't WAIT!
There was more? He listened.
...
.............
.......
Be still, his heart.
Was it still beating? Matt couldn't feel it.

gsg "ARE YOU SERIOUS?????" The boy shouted, not being able to contain himself on his seat and standing UP to give the professor a more intense look. Really?? REALLY?? ...."You're not pulling my leg, are you?"
JUST making sure. |

| Stephanoodle || Adorable Nerd Zarina heard Professor Hirsch's voice and she popped her head up and immediately got to her feet. As she entered his office, she saw him still reading a book. She was wondering if he was going to put his book down, I mean it was sort of rude. Zae cleared her throat and figured it was time to come clean. Zae took a seat right across from his desk. She took a deep breath and felt like she could do this. "Ermm professor... I wanted to ask you something. I know you noticed my spell work accuracy is sort of horrible. I was wondering how you could fix it?" Zae looked at him in the eye to let him know she meant business.
She had a pink tinge on her cheeks and felt embarrassed that she had to ask for help.
