| | Office of Celestia J. Grimsbane
As visitors enter Celestia Grimsbane's office, they will step into a room that seems completely full of "stuff." There are few decorations on the walls, apart from some hastily put up Quidditch posters and a blown-up version of Minerva McGonagall's chocolate frog card. The left wall is taken up almost completely by a large bookcase. However, most of the shelves on this bookcase are only half-full. The remaining books have been scattered around the office in various piles, some of which wobble precariously as visitors pass by. A couple of shelves feature some seemingly random magical objects, including Sneakoscopes, Remembralls, and Secrecy Sensors -- all of which are in various states of disrepair. Perhaps there is an unbroken version of those objects on the shelves somewhere, but if so, the objects are not immediately obvious.
The right side of the office is dominated by a roaring fire in an abnormally large fireplace. The fire is constrained by a sturdy-looking metal grate, which has all sorts of random swirls and patterns woven into its design. Frequent visitors to the office may notice that these patterns are rarely the same as they were during their last visit. A plush, red and gold rug is spread out in front of the fireplace, along with a couple of squashy armchairs. A number of squeaky dog toys are scattered around the office floor, but most of these sit innocently on top of this rug. A plush dog bed has been laid out between the armchairs and directly in front of the fire, though it bears small teeth marks and other evidence of having been dragged around the office more than once by some sort of creature.
There are no chairs directly in front of Professor Grimsbane's oak desk, which dominates the center of the office, though another armchair sits behind the desk. It is clear that the Transfiguration professor much prefers comfortable, fireside conversations to the traditional setting with the formidable desk separating teacher and student. Particularly observant students may notice a small table shoved into the back corner of the office that bears supplies for tea and cookies. |

Vi had been on a mission to introduce herself to all the new Professors. After hearing that Professor Stewart had left, she was determined to go meet her successor. Thus the blonde found herself outside the woman's office.
After having heard Professor Grimsbane's voice asking her to come in, Olivia turned the knob and then pushed open the door to find a somewhat... hectic room? Her eyes scanned the office, taking it all in for a moment, before forming an opinion. Organized but hectic but not exactly hectic. She didn't really know the right word to describe it. But she did like the fireplace and the comfortable vibe that she had going on.
It felt homey.
And she liked it.
With a smile on her lips, she walked over to Professor Grimsbane and extended her hand to the woman. "Hello Professor Grimsbane. I wanted to come introduce myself to you and ask you a few questions about careers in Transfiguration. I'm Olivia Holden," she said with a grin.

Celestia glanced up from the letter she'd been penning as the Gryffindor prefect entered her office, and felt her face break out into a large smile. The blonde prefect was the first student to visit her office so far this term. It was good that her first visitor was an older student, really. Celestia didn't think she'd left any, err, experimental objects lying around the office but she was sure that if she had forgotten to scoop something up, an older student was less likely to be spooked.
She rose to her considerable perfectly normal height of 5'2" and tossed some of her short, brown hair out of her face as she made her way around her desk to better shake the Gryffindor's hand. Celestia offered the girl another smile as she shook her hand briefly, and replied, "Well, it's very nice to meet you, Miss Holden! Why don't you have a seat?" She gestured towards the two squashy armchairs before the fireplace as she asked the question. She kicked a few dog toys out of her path as she took a seat in the armchair on the right hand side of the fireplace herself. Celestia had barely been seated for a moment when a small table bearing a tea tray began moving its long, spindly legs and walked itself over to the two witches. She glanced at the table briefly, before returning her attention to Olivia and asking in a perfectly ordinary tone of voice, "Would you like some tea, Miss Holden?" |

What interesting objects around the place!
And also another interesting fact was that Celestia was shorter than Vi was? She hadn't expected that. Well....Maybe she ought to have paid more attention to that slight detail but then again Vi had been seated during most of the time when she saw the lady. Hmm... After shaking hands, Olivia was offered a place to sit. " Thank you, Professor," she smiled and took a seat in the armchair that she had offered her.
Vi watched as a small table with a tray of tea rested upon it walked over to them. Widened blue eyes and an awed smile graced Vi's face as she watched the structure in awe. Definetly interesting objects around the place. " How did you do that?" she glanced at the Professor in wonder. She paused. OH Professor Grimsbane had asked a question, hadn't she? " Yes, tea would be lovely. Thank you."

Celestia smiled at the Gryffindor and pulled up the navy blue sleeve of her robes to reveal a slender ebony wand holstered in place. She slid the wand out of its place and aimed it carefully at the teapot sitting squarely in the middle of the table that had wandered over. One nonverbal spell later and the tea was pouring out into each of the two blue patterned cups in equal measure. "Ah. Well, this table was a gift from one of my Transfiguration professors at university. It has a long standing enchantment activated by a tiny degree of wandless magic. You simply gesture to where you want the table to go while focussing on the movement and destination whole heartedly," she explained with a grin. The table's enchantment would wear off eventually, of course, but Celestia still thought it was a really cool piece of magic. She couldn't ever keep a note of awe out of her voice when she spoke about the enchantment. The spell was unfortunately still beyond her own abilities -- she was much better with human Transfiguration and spells involving animals.
Celestia reholstered her wand and took a sip of tea before continuing, "Transfiguration can be useful in a number of different careers. Did you have something particular in mind?" |

A long standing enchantment activated by wandless magic? Vi's eyebrows raised a little bit at the sound of it. Ooh. She loved the sound of that. That sounded incredible and something that she would most certainly enjoy exploring. "May I try?" she asked with an intrigued smile. Vi had been working on her wandless magic with Professor Marchand. First it had been nonverbals and then they had progressed to the concept of verbals.
"Well I'd like to incorporate it with my love for Divination and Charms but I'm not sure exactly how to do so," she explained as she took a sip of tea. It was complicated. Vi was very passionate about all three subjects but she was unsure about how to choose between those three options.

Vi was very passionate about all three subjects but she was unsure about how to choose between those three options. A student showing an interest in wandless magic was a pleasant surprise! Celestia had never really been serious in her pursuits of learning how to use magic without a wand until she reached university, but the fact that some Hogwarts students were at least interested in that branch of magic before they left school... Well, Celestia was excited to see what N.E.W.T. level students like that did out in the world. She gave Olivia a bright smile and said encouragingly, "Of course you may! The key to successful magic without a wand is, as I'm sure you know, determination and focus." She didn't think the Gryffindor would have asked to attempt a wandless spell unless the student had already been studying wandless magic for a while, so Celestia didn't feel the need to go into a lot of detail. She would, of course, if Olivia failed in her first attempts on the spell.
Celestia listened carefully and blinked in surprise as Olivia listed off her three subjects. Transfiguration and Charms were a natural fit together, but..Divination? The woman wasn't at all sure what careers could combine those three branches of magic. "Well, many careers require proficiency in both Transfiguration and Charms, including a number of jobs at the Ministry. Healers would perhaps be able to use all three subjects... It would be quite useful to be able to predict a patient's prognosis before treatment began, I suppose..." she mused aloud. It took Celestia almost a full minute to realize that she'd gone off on a tangent about Healer-Seer combinations in her head rather than actually thinking about Olivia's question. Mortified, she tried to pass her distraction off by taking a quick gulp of tea before smiling ruefully and admitting, "Err, perhaps Professor Vance would be able to help you incorporate Divination into your career choices. I'm afraid I don't know much about the subject myself." It had been her worst and most dreaded class at Hogwarts, actually, but there was no need to tell the students that.
It was as Celestia felt a pink flush rising in her cheeks -- admitting that she didn't know something felt so odd as a teacher -- and quickly immersed herself in pouring more tea into her own cup. It was as she was focused on the tea tray that a small, bright-pink ball of fluff appeared on the top of Olivia's chair. It had been climbing the back as quietly as possible while the witches were talking; they were paying attention to something besides it, and that was not something the pygmy puff would stand for. Plus, it could have a go at the strange witch's ears by being sneaky. As soon the pygmy puff gained the top of the strange witch (Olivia)'s chair, it wriggled its butt and POUNCED! in an effort to land right on top of her head.

Vi nodded, readying herself to perform the non-verbal on the table. Non-verbal accio should do the trick, right? With a smile, she casually and fluidly moved her hand towards the table and then beckoned it closer with a non-verbal. She watched as the table crawl towards her.
She followed Celestia's tangent, letting her mind wonder about the career of a Healer-Seer. Now that opportunity sounded incredibly fascinating. It hadn't been something that she thought about but the very thought of that intrigued her. The ability to predict someone's illness.... Hmm... " Now that does sound interesting.. A Healer-Seer combination," she spoke. Then she paused and offered a small smile. " That's okay!. I also plan on speaking to Professor Vance about careers in Divination too."
The next thing Vi knew and felt was a little thing jumping on her head. She jumped up, surprised by the sensation, and then reached above her head to feel what had landed there. She felt something soft... Was that a creature? " Hello?" she asked, trying to glance up to see what had pounced on her. She chuckled.
