Hello, excuse us. Zander Adair was having a moment.
It had been almost seven years since he had last stepped foot in this very hall. However, things were quite different between then and now. This time Zander Adair wasn't here for his final meal as a Hogwarts student, he didn't have a badge pinned to his robes or friends stuck by his sides. In fact, he didn't recognize a single face aside from those familiars who were back for the same purpose as he. By this point, every Hogwarts student he had left behind here had graduated.
And even with all the unfamiliarity and newness, it still felt like he had returned home. Granted, home was much smaller than he had remembered. Home was much louder than he had remembered. Home was much more intimidating than he remembered. But it was still home.
Zander threw his hands in his pocket, giving Olly an apologetic look and asking to step away for a moment to get some water. He wasn't really thirsty, he just needed to step aside for a moment. Allow the nostalgia to really overwhelm him (it did, by the way... it hit like a brick flung with the force of 1,000 West Odessas).
A drink. That's what he said he was doing here at the refreshment table. Right.
The blonde reached out for a cup and poured himself some lemon-lime soda, adjusted his shirt's collar, and then took a sip.
Ah.
It's so good to be back.

Gaston approached the mingling area looking just as tired as he felt. He was paler than usual, and his eyes were rimmed in shadows almost as dark as his hair. Despite his appearance, he was still smiling - no doubt due to the two-way mirror he held in one hand. He was taking full advantage of the relative calm before the Job Fair got too busy to check in with his family - and grab a coffee. Caffeine was a must for a working new dad!
He helped himself to a steaming cup of coffee and took a quick sip before turning his attention back to the blue-eyed baby girl on the other side of the mirror. She smiled and cooed at him, and his heart swelled. He was so distracted by his daughter that he wasn't looking where he was going until he bumped into someone. "Oh my - I'm so sorry!" he exclaimed. It was only then that he got a good look at the person he ran into, and It wasn't a face he recognized. "I hope I didn't cause you any trouble, Mr..." He allowed his voice to trail off, hoping the other guy would fill in the blank.

No, she couldn't believe her eyes! Was that Zander? It had been far too long…what had he been up to? Was he still with Sophie? Puck waddle-walked over to the mingling area just in time to see…oh, awkward that man just walked into Zander. Her smile was still in place and really, it only grew when she saw the baby…well, golly that was special.
Golly? did I just think that? I sound like inspector gadget, Puck scolded herself as she walked over toward the group…"hiiiii, she's so cute" Puck grinned at the baby her eyes nearly tearing up as she stood there. "sorry to uh interrupt…I just came over to pester Mr. Adair here" she beamed at him before looking back at the baby.
BABY HIII….right, she needed to remain calm but the hormones coursing through her body were making her just want to hug the precious bundle in front of her. "I also came for the food, because...i'm hungry, i'm always hungry" like someone go grab me food now or i'll go hangry...right food. Quesadillas it was.

Kalen was not a fan of crowds, or loud noises or tons of students, but he had to be present at this job fair, so present he was. And in order to make this even remotely tolerable, he was headed over to the food table where hopefully there was actually tea available this time.
There had been a few events where it hasn’t been and he had to trek back to his office to grab some! Thankfully! There was tea! The Astronomy Professor grabbed a cup and after bringing it to his lips for a calming sip, he looked around.
He saw his fellow Professor there, and he smiled a bit at Gaston, though he inwardly wondered what exactly was wrong with the fellow now? Was he ever happy? He didn’t seem like it. Merlin.
The older guy and the student got a nod as well, but the green eyed man didn’t say much to them, he needed more tea if he was actually going to talk to people.

Dora had decided that, upon making her way over to the mingling area, Hogwarts didn't know how to provide snacks for both children and adults. Sweets and sugary pastries? No thank you. It was a good thing that these kids enjoyed coffee or else there would have been nothing for her to hold in her hands while she wondered around the mingling area.
It wasn't much of a place to mingle, but it was a spot away from her booth, so Dora didn't complain. When she did manage to find a table that wasn't occupied, she claimed it for her own and looked up at the ceiling of the great hall that not surprisingly, didn't seem as magnificent as it had when she was eleven.

After pouring himself some soda, the Gryffindor decided to stick around for a few minutes. Really soak it all up. Hopefully he'd have a chance to slip outside after the event and visit the greenhouses or at least climb up the treehouse for old times' sake. He probably wouldn't ever get an opportunity to be back here again, had to take full advantage of--
*SPLASH*
And there went his soda.
Man, this was his good shirt too. The blonde looked up, a little frazzled, but otherwise not upset. "Uh, you're fine," he reached for his wand a cast a quick spell to clean it up. Looked good as new, yeah? "Zander," he added helpfully. Mr. Zander? That didn't sound right. Could they guy, like, not call him Mr.? It made him sound like an old man. That was too weird. "Are you alright?" Because.... Zander was the one who had gotten bumped into, but this guy looked like he just had the worst day of his entire life.
Before Zander had a the chance to say anything else, "Puck!?!" happened.
No way!!! He gave his former co-prefect a large smile. "It's been so long. I can't believe we're both here again, it feels like it's been forever....."
Zander trailed off just as he noticed her baby bump.
..... WAIT.
WAS PUCK PREGNANT???
"Puck... Are you.... Uh..." He gestured awkwardly with his hands, not sure how to ask. If she was pregnant, he'd probably freak out. If she wasn't, then this would be entirely too embarrassing.

Stupid, stupid, stupid! Gaston was already berating himself for crashing into the other man (Zander), but he felt even worse about it when he saw he'd caused him to spill his soda. He couldn't believe he'd been that careless! He set his coffee down on the nearest table and pulled out his wand to help clean up, but the other guy had already beat him to it. "Here, I'll get you another one..." he said, offering him another lemon-lime soda. It was the least he could do after the trouble he'd caused!
He nervously ran a hand through his dark hair, causing it to stick up. "Again, I'm so sorry! I was paying more attention to my daughter than the path in front of me," he said, gesturing toward the two-way mirror in his hand. The black-haired, blue-eyed baby in the mirror apparently thought the whole scene was pretty funny! She smiled and flailed her arms about, making little gurgling noises... as if she was trying to laugh but didn't know how. "Yes, Desiree. Daddy's silly, isn't he?"
He turned his attention back to the other man, just in time to hear him say his name was Zander. "Nice to meet you, Zander... though I wish I'd made a better first impression," he said sheepishly. "I'm Gaston Marchand." Blink, blink. The question caught him by surprise. "Yes, of course. I'm fine-" He suddenly had to stifle a yawn. "- just tired. I suppose I'm still adjusting to being a professor and a father."
Gaston's head whipped around at the sound of an unfamiliar voice, and he gave the woman (Puck) a big smile. One of the fastest ways to get on his good side was to say something kind about his family! "Hello - and thank you!" he said, beaming. He turned his attention back to the mirror. "Say 'hi' to the nice people, Desiree." He wasn't sure how his baby daughter would react to all these strangers around. for a moment, he half-expected her to cry, but she just tilted her head and made a confused noise. His eyes widened in concern as he saw the way the woman was looking at his daughter. "Is everything okay, Miss...?"
Well, this conversation took an unexpected turn! He took a step back as Puck and Zander talked, suddenly feeling as if he were intruding on something private. His eyes scanned the area, and he saw Kalen and a woman he didn't know (Dora). He returned Kalen's smile and waved back at him, momentarily forgetting about the two-way mirror still in his hand. Well, he supposed that was one way to show off his daughter!

When she did manage to find a table that wasn't occupied, she claimed it for her own and looked up at the ceiling of the great hall that not surprisingly, didn't seem as magnificent as it had when she was eleven.
If Olly had been able to read minds, she would have WHOLEHEARTEDLY agreed with Dora there. This buffet, it was anything but extensive. Or good for that matter. So much for the buffet then. This was false advertising really. Nonetheless, she‘d put a couple of cheese sticks and a mini quesadilla onto her plate and was now looking for a table.
Maybe she could just sit outside on the steps for the time being?
Personally, she wouldn‘t have minded but assumed that that wouldn‘t look too good so instead she continued her search. She didn‘t exactly want to share a table with more Hogwarts students because frankly she wanted to eat in peace. When she eventually spotted someone who was not a student, at least not a current one, she walked over to where Dora was standing.
„Can I share your table? We don‘t have to talk.“ Sound good?
Kalen was not a fan of crowds, or loud noises or tons of students, but he had to be present at this job fair, so present he was. And in order to make this even remotely tolerable, he was headed over to the food table where hopefully there was actually tea available this time.

The older guy and the student got a nod as well, but the green eyed man didn’t say much to them, he needed more tea if he was actually going to talk to people.
The Job fair had come to Hogwarts and Regina expected them all to be present for the event. At least a handful of students had sought out or talked to Laurel about what they should do after Hogwarts and work with. Hopefully they'd find some answers in the Great Hall in the many different career booths.
Before the blond professor thought about inspecting any of the booths she had skipped her tea to finish a lesson plan. She hadn't wanted to stop when she had been in a good flow. Heading over to the food table Laurel saw that Gaston was already in deep conversation with two former students so she just flashed him and the others the smiles and waves.
Stepping up beside Kalen to grab a cup of tea and a pumpkin pasty she greeted happily "Hello Kalen! Have you visited any of the booth's yet?"
Puck simply grinned at. Zander and the man she hasn't exactly met yet…"its nice to meet you Professor Marchand, and Desiree you are a cutie" yes, a complete and utter adorable thing.
Zander's smile hadn't changed in all the years of not seeing him constantly, and that was clearly a good thing. "too long, and yeah, yeah I am…" she turned to Professor Marchand again and smiled. "Oh I'm Puck, Puck Greyvson…if you'd have been here a few terms earlier we'd likely have worked together...Zander and I were the old gryffindor Prefects" she grinned, "but this one got the BIG promotion to headboy" yes she was bragging about her friend but heeey he was a great guy.
Pausing a moment she added, "Marchand? right...you're the current Gryffindor Head right? I heard about you replacing Professor Flamsteed from my aunt Imogen Greyvson" she grinned at him, "I will have to tell her that i met your daughter" she gave Desiree a little wave once more.
"I'm sure she would be thrilled to hear about Desiree, actually…my cousin her daughter is supposed to be starting next term" though Puck had a feeling she wouldn't be a bold little lioness like herself.

Rylee hadn't intended on coming to this thing. Being eleven meant she still had a few more good years left before she really had to start making some solid choices in the career department. However she had heard there was going to be FOOD and of course a few booths that might actually catch her eye. So here she was.
Upon entering the Great Hall the little lioness scanned the area making a beeline straight for the food area. Once she had a full belly she would be ready to take on some of the booths that were set around. Collecting herself a plate she set some of the cheese sticks on sauce onto it and a chocolate frog... it wasn't her favorite but it was chocolate and chocolate was good. As for a beverage there was only one option that instantly caught her eye, hot cocoa. It probably wouldn't go nicely with sauce but oh well.
After pouring herself a cup of the warm drink she made her way to a small table and sat down to enjoy her snack.

Dora had noticed Olly was here just like she had noticed all of the other adults in the room who were greatly outnumbered by the students. It was impossible not to notice her, but she did a very good job of playing like she hadn't seen the other woman right up until she walked over to her table and spoke to her.
There was a long silence that fell between them as she looked over at the other woman before finally nodding. "That's fine." She had been around Olly at the other woman's wedding and exchanged just as many words. They could do the same here and go back to completely ignoring each other's existence after.
Since there was room for Olly, she didn't have to clear any space at the table, and went on about enjoying her coffee like she still didn't see the brunette.

Gaston returned the young woman's (Puck) smile with a warm one of his own; his smile grew even wider when she spoke to his daughter. Maybe it was just fatherly pride talking, but he agreed; Desiree was a cutie! "Thank you," he replied, and his voice dropped as he added, "Between you and me, she gets it from her mother." Goodness knows she didn't learn to be that adorable from him!
Matching pairs of blue eyes met as he looked back at his daughter in the mirror. "Say 'thank you', Desiree." The baby girl began making happy cooing noises; close enough, he supposed. Speaking of babies... his eyes widened slightly when he overheard the woman's conversation with Zander. Should he congratulate her? Or would that be too awkward? Oh well, maybe Desiree and this woman's child would go to Hogwarts together and be friends...
Before he could dwell too much on it, she was speaking to him again. He smiled. "It's nice to meet you too, Miss Greyvson." Wait a second, he knew that name! Was she related to -? Apparently so. He nodded in reply to what she said next. "Yes, I am." Well, technically he'd replaced Arthur Newton, who'd replaced Flamsteed, but that was splitting hairs. "So Imogen is your aunt? Tell her Gaston and Rosalyn say hello." He was sure his wife would want him to pass on a hello from her too.
Then Puck mentioned something about Imogen's daughter starting Hogwarts soon. "Oh? Well, I can't wait to meet her!" he said. "What's her name?" He hoped she would end up in Gryffindor; there was always room for another ickle Lion cub for him to care for! Speaking of which...
His eyes scanned the room and landed on one of his Lions (Rylee). He waved hello to the young lioness, and anothe wave was directed at Laurel, who he saw had joined Kalen.

There were three kinds of lateness, at least in Charles's mind. They were fashionably late, unnoticeably late, and embarrassedly late. Obviously he liked to imagine himself as fashionably late (just look at that bowler hat and black ribbon) but he'd go with unnoticeably late if fashionably late was too much to hope for. He wasn't THAT late, right?
Not being particularly interested in any of the presentations at the moment, (though he'd get there eventually) Charles went straight for the food and bought cheese sticks and tea. That was a wonderful combination, by the way. He leaned up against the wall and watched people converse with one another.
"Gaston!" he called out, catching sight of a rather tired looking Professor Marchand. "Looking sharp!" Not really, but he couldn't rightly shout "Looking pale!" now, could he. "Er, you too, Kalen." And he tipped his hat to Laurel.

Gaston was busy dividing his time between his daughter and the two people (Puck & Zander) who'd engaged him in conversation when he heard someone call his name. His blue eyes darted around the room in search of the voice. Oh, hello, Charles. He waved at his colleague, smiling slightly, but he wasn't about to call back to him. Deciding he should probably go over there and give him a proper hello, he started to excuse himself, but a sudden wail diverted his attention.
He looked back at the two-way mirror in his hand just in time to see his baby daughter burst into loud tears, the most heartbreaking sight for any father. He instantly knew why; she'd been fine until Charles called to him. He knew the other man probably had no idea he was talking to his daughter and hadn't meant to make her cry, but the overprotective dad side of him couldn't help but feel slightly annoyed. "Oh, poor baby Desiree!" he whispered, trying to soothe her. "Shh, shh... Daddy's here. I know... that was loud." He continued comforting her the best he could, wishing he could be there with her... but his presence was expected here.

Kye approached the snack area with all eyes towards finding a Professor. She had finally seen some familiar faces after (admittedly unsurprising in her opinion) lack of them at the two tables she passed! She saw Professor Curtains, Professor Marchand, and... oh good, Professor Vance! Without much hesitation, Kye approached and called, "Professors! Professors, have you seen it?" She had no care as to which responded quickest, but she looked between them and up toward the hawk above. "It's definitely fresh, and it's gotten all over Flynn over there," she continued, pointing at the University table. Was it because he had done it?? Unlikely, but you never know... This had happened before a few times in the school's history already.

Gaston had just got his baby daughter calmed down when another loud voice rose, and, predictably, little Desiree began to wail again on the other side of the two-way mirror in his hand. He inwardly groaned, but he was careful not to let any sign of annoyance show on his face as he turned in the direction of the voice. All exasperation he felt vanished when he saw Miss Atwater. Now he had a crying child and a panicked student to deal with!
His heart sank as he saw her pointing toward the Wizarding University booth. There was no need to ask what "it" was! He held the mirror closer to him, not daring to look up lest his daughter's eyes should follow his and see what he assumed must be another hawk. "Daddy has to go now," he whispered to the baby in the mirror. It broke his heart to leave her so upset, but he knew her mother would comfort her. His students needed him more now. "I love you, Desiree."
He quickly stuffed the mirror back into his jacket pocket and turned to the Slytherin. "Thank you, Miss Atwater. I'll be right there," he said, drawing his wand, and was off.

Laurel was getting her fill of candy and snacks while chatting with Kalen and those students and adults that passed by where she was standing by the bar. She almost choked on the candy she was eating when she heared Kye Atwaters serious and urgent message when she approached. Gaston reacted first and then Laurel met her snake student's gaze. "Thank you Kye! I'll be right with you. Lead the way and i'll follow!" Drawing her wand she left the mingling area to go to the WU booth.
