| | Infant Magical Creatures Nursery Halfway between Professor Wayland's hut and the barn, you will notice a much smaller, light grey, and white barn. This is the Infant Magical Creatures Nursery. The nursery is where many infant creatures are taken care of when their parents can't take care of them. Many of these infant creatures are orphans, and Professor Wayland needs all the help he can get. If you look just inside the door you'll find shelves stocked with dragon hide gloves, goggles, brushes, clean rags, and anything else you could ever need to care for these adorable infant creatures.
Just outside the back door there are multiple pens, and stables that house the larger animals, like Abraxans, and a closed off pasture that you can let the infant creatures play or roam around in. Make sure when you put the baby creature away that all the doors are securely closed when you are finished caring for the baby creatures. We wouldn't want them to get out and get hurt!
Please come in and let the babies get to know you! Watch them grow and learn! If there is ever any issue, please contact Professor Wayland immediately. Infant Creatures List: OOC: There will not be an Extra Credit Assignment this term. You may use this thread to RP with your baby creatures from last term, as well as at the barn. Check the ever changing list of baby creatures that need loving above for ideas of what creatures to handle. Thank you!

Especially as she cast a longing look back at the bird cage.
They really were too cute.
Thankfully, distraction came in the form of a beautiful winged horse baby. A very large baby, especially compared to the birds, but a baby nonetheless. Shera cooed at it, her own hands moving towards it. She giggled as the baby carefully moved its nose over her hands, before looking away with disinterest. That was when she allowed herself to move forward and pat it.
Like the birds it cutely leaned into her touch, and it took a few seconds of pats before it shifted on it's legs. "You look like an excited baby," she cooed, smiling as it finally got itself under control realising it had moved away from her, and approached her for more pats. "Uuuuummmm.... I don't know either... do you know when they start flying?" She fell in love? Daehyun could only grin at that. A large, very self-satisfied grin. Because the sad birds needed all the love in the world, and Shera was great for them.
... and she was great with winged horses, too.
It made him grin when she'd instantly connected with one of the babies, when only moments before she wouldn't let go of the small Augurey. Well, she was in for something completely different from the small birds, since the horses were much larger and a lot more energetic, which only fed his fear of letting them out, since he wasn't sure he would be able to control them.
At Shera's question, he pursed his lips and shook his head, his cheeks flushing just a little bit, and said, "But it'll be the first thing I look up when we get back at the castle!" And he wouldn't rest till he found out.
... he was that kind of person.
"You said you packed snacks," he said, eyeing her bag. "You don't happen to have apples in there, do you?" If not, he'll make sure to be prepared next time they come. |

Shera shrugged it off quickly, her focus back on the baby in front of her. It was still a very excited baby, and had now taken to resting it's neck on Shera's shoulder. She giggled lightly, confused at how they had gotten to this point but accepting it anyways. "So we'll know for next time," she commented brightly, ignoring the way that Daehyun had flushed. She may have been relying on his knowledge of the creatures, but that didn't mean that she expected him to know everything at this point in time. She just expected that he would by seventh year.
Did she bring apples? "Ye of little faith," she commented lightly, reaching into the bag with an undetectable extension charm which was obvious now that she had to reach her whole arm in to find an apple and pulled out an apple. Then she softly threw it at Daehyun. He would never understand exactly how much food that she had stashed in there.
... she ate a lot.

... she ate a lot. When Daehyun had asked her if she had any apples in her bag, he'd pretty much asked it as a joke with the smallest possibility of her actually having one in there, but he found himself watching in awe as Shera's hand - wait, her whole arm - went inside her bag to retrieve one.
"I'll never underestimate a girl's bag ever again," he muttered more to himself. "Just how large is it?" He knew better than to ask what she had in there, because honestly, girls' bags scared him. It was just uncharted territory, he knew that much.
Catching the apple, he cracked it in half and held one to Shera to feed her new friend - unless she had more in her pitless bag, which wouldn't surprise him - while he held the other half to the young Granian, who had snatched it from the palm of his hand immediately, before leaning gratefully in for another rub. Complying, he said, "You have to thank Shera over there for the snack, not me." He also made a mental note to ask for snacks if he ever found himself hungry near her. |

She grinned at him, amused at his reaction. "This one's the smaller one, only goes arm deep. Perfect for snacks," because it really was. The one that she took to classes was the one that he really should be scared of. It could easily fit a person in it.
It was a shame that she'd only grabbed one apple though. It was the misfortune of being a 'healthy' snack that had left it with one, just to make her feel better about herself. That in mind she accepted half of the apple back to feed to the other winged horse baby. She smiled as it took it from the palm of her hand. Although, then her stomach grumbled.
She was too hungry. That in mind she reached her hand back into her bag for a second time, this time pulling out a chocolate chip muffin and a sugar quill. "Do you want anything else?" she directed at Daehyun, although she'd already taken a large bite into her own muffin and kept twirling the sugar quill between her fingers. That was for her to suck on slowly to keep her feeling like she was continue to ate after she ate. When was dinner again?
With a free hand she continued to pat the horse, noting how it nudged her in it's discontent as she had stopped patting it.
What a silly horse, like she'd be able to not show it all the affection it demanded.

"I-I won't even ask about the other one." Those were just things far out of his knowledge and understanding, though he was beginning to wonder what she carried in there aside from snacks.
He shook his head when Shera asked him if he wanted anything else to eat. "I'll leave room for dinner," he said. "Do you want to go back to the castle and see if it's ready?" She did seem like she could have snacks on the way back and dinner, and it was beginning to get a little bit late.
Though he turned to the small Granian who was still munching happily on the apple, and wasn't ready to part ways just yet... but they would return, most likely soon, if Shera's enthusiasm was anything to go by. He patted the horse's soft mane, thinking that next time they came they should start being productive and groom them, and even help clean the stables. |

Shera was once again less than enthusiastic at the idea of leaving, patting the baby horse that was standing next to her as she slowly came to terms with the idea of leaving to eat dinner. While she hesitated she could keep going with their conversation to drag everything out, right?
She'd giggled at his response, shrugging her shoulders lightly. "Don't you have any bags with undetectable extension charms?" because she hadn't met a witch or wizard in her life that hadn't understood the benefits of using them on everything.
Maybe she just hadn't met enough in her life up until now. "Dinner sounds good," her stomach rumbled in agreement, though unlike Daehyun she pulled out another muffin for her to munch on while they walked back up to the castle. She would still have more than enough room to stuff herself full with food when they got there.
She was definitely a big eater.

She was definitely a big eater. Watching Shera hardly part ways with the winged horse she'd befriended, Daehyun couldn't help but giggle at the sight. He definitely needed to bring her back, but next time they should be productive and helpful, too, and by help he meant actual work, not just cuddles. Dung needed to be cleaned, too. And the creatures needed grooming every once in a while.
"Only my trunk," he'd answered her. "But it would come in handy if I had an extendable charm on my bag, too, now that you mention it." He might try it himself. Carrying so many snacks around wasn't a bad idea, at all.
Smiling at Shera when she'd started munching on another muffin - as they were headed towards dinner - he followed her back to the castle, but not before wishing the creatures a good night, and making sure all the doors, cages, and pens were closed. |
